I own a copy of the DK Eyewitness Travel Guide to London, and I am already a fan of these guides. I have to give this one the same four stars. It's not just a matter of everything you need to know, but it's the layout on those fab glossy pages too. I'm exploring Naples and the Amalfi coast in around another one hundred days, and this guide is a favourite to take along. The book states that visitors could be overwhelmed by the amount of things there are to see and do, so this guide is just perfect to help select an itinerary for the myriad of Roman ruins, churches, museums and restaurants etc etc etc.

Very useful for making a start on things. The restaurant listings and cultural highlights didn't steer us wrong. And the tips on which bits of Naples were not tourist friendly were helpful too.
The sections on Pompeii and Herculaneum could have been a bit longer. The best advice on them (to pick up the free guide books, and to swing by the Villa Poppaea) we got from the internet.

I've tried Fodor's Rome, and Eyewitness's Paris and Naples. This was on the meh-ish side of the spectrum.
The book wasn't of much use actually. It did suggest some nice places in Naples and the Amalfi Coast, but most of the things we enjoyed were from websites like TripAdvisor.
