Ottimo saggio per capire i meccanismi di un secolo di stravolgimenti economici, religiosi, sociali e culturali, dove sembrò accadere tutto e dove tutto quello che accadde parve condurre al proprio opposto; un'epoca di rivolte il cui fallimento portò al rafforzamento dell'assolutismo.

E' consigliabile affiancarlo a una lettura che integri meglio anche gli aspetti artistico-culturali, come per esempio "L'Europa del Cinquecento" di Keonigsberger, Mosse, Bowler; laddove invece il volume di Kamen approfondisce meglio gli aspetti economici e sociali.

University does like to give its students ponderous books...

Okay then. Kamen tries his best despite having problems with defining several concepts like slavery, poverty and class.

But thumbs up for trying mr. Kamen. :P
