One of the best "how to" illustration books I've read. The text and pictures follow the actual creation of illustrations in a wide range of styles by some wonderful illustrators so it's a close look at a range of techniques and approaches. It's very interesting. 'How to' illustration books are frequently full of what I think of as flim flam; opaque words that tout the brilliance of the illustrator and style that is often confusing to students as it does not really share information. This book has none of that. It's an open and straightforward and honest look at how these illustrators create their marvelous pieces. It makes a truly helpful teaching tool. My thanks to all the illustrators who are part of this book.

Great insight into 9 artists' process in illustrating children's books. Even though some of the information is dated (because digital proofing, PDFs, and working on computer is so different), the paper pen/pencil/brush insight is awesome for me, as i thrive in traditional media.
