Rate this book
Five million dollars. One year. One baby. No feelings.

Finn Morrow is drowning. His brother's debt is spiraling, his library job barely covers rent, and he's running out of options. So when billionaire Sebastian Coldwell announces he's looking for an omega to carry his heir—no strings attached—Finn does the math. One year. One baby. Enough money to save his brother and walk away free.

Simple. Clinical. Emotionless.

Except Sebastian isn't cold. He's devastating—dark eyes, rare smiles, and a protective streak that makes Finn forget this is just a transaction. And Finn? Finn is supposed to hand over the baby and disappear. He's not supposed to fall in love with the man. Or the life. Or the child growing inside him.

But when Finn's past comes crashing back with a betrayal he never saw coming, Sebastian reveals exactly what he's capable of when someone threatens what's his.

Some men write checks.

Sebastian Coldwell writes names off lists.

The Arrangement is a standalone dark billionaire omegaverse romance featuring a protective alpha who will burn down the world for his family, an omega with a sharp tongue and a weakness for carbs, and enough heat to melt your e-reader. HEA guaranteed.

So. I’d never read an AI book before. But now I have! Go me, I guess?

This book feels very…manufactured. I’ve read some banana-pants-crazy self-published books with absolutely zero editing or punctuation and enjoyed them because I could feel the authors’ heart in the story. I can look past misspellings and weird-ass formatting or structure if my interest is caught. I think I’m a pretty forgiving reader - I’ve rated some truly awfully-written books pretty high just because they had something I liked.

So back to this one…no errors at all. No misspellings. Very soulless. Perfect. I hate it.

I’m an Omegaverse fan - if an actual person had written this without the help of AI, I think I’d like it. The cover is AI. The content is AI. I don’t want to read a computer-generated story.

There are a few tells in the “writing” -

• certain phrases used multiple times in the exact same way - Finns little pitch of his intentions on his application and then the exact same wording, in the same order when he’s speaking with Sebastian face-to-face for their interview. Also, the description of the smooth screen on his new device - this is the same wording, in the same order, used a few times in the content,
• no world-building at all - nothing about this world being an AU where Alphas, Omegas or anything else different exists at the very beginning of this story. Almost like someone told a computer to write an Omegaverse story and the computer didn’t know it needed to introduce anyone to this world.

I’m calling it quits at 26%. Stuff like this needs to be removed from KU. Actual authors deserve the clicks, not this junk.

No cover credit in 2026.

This "book" has a 4.4 star average on Amazon from 773 ratings and it has 700+ ratings on Goodreads.

All of that in 102 days.

Makes me want to scream.

River Thorne published 12 books between November 2025 and June 2026, that's 12 books in 7 months.

All 12 are missing cover credits.

This book was okay. Although it was too long for the story being told.

It concerns me that this author has quite a few books out within a short span of time and there is nothing about who did the cover art or who edited the book anywhere to be seen. Nothing about the author. Also, the formatting was odd.

My main gripes included the fact that the characters were not fully fleshed out, at most 2 dimensional - it made for very easy reading - but repetitive wording was over the top.

Sebastian tells us 11 times that he's forty-two. That is berserk!! I have never read a book where more than once or twice was required to let the reader know the age of a character. Then there are the overused words and sentence structures.

Transaction or transactional were used 10 times.

Space in relation to air or the area that Sebastian or Finn were in came up approximately 28 times.
Things such as, A presence. Someone else breathing that same air, occupying the same space.
Or, Having someone else in my space.
And, I could feel Finn's presence, that subtle shift in the air that meant someone else was breathing the same space.

CEO or billionaire get a work out.

Borrowed shoes is obsessed over 10 times.

It continues with multiple words and sentences.

Like I said, it's an okay book, sweet, and if you are prepared to overlook the above, it might be more your jam than mine

not quite right

I liked the storyline but there were some very odd repeated sentences and wording that didn’t fit. Other reviews have mentioned AI

One of the best, most endearing MPreg books I’ve ever read. I loved it sooo much. New to me author and so glad I came across this book.

- The blurb calls this a dark romance. It’s not. There’s some angst and conflict, but I wouldn’t call this dark.
- I realize this was an arrangement for a baby, but I didn’t like how often Finn’s worth was linked to said baby.
- I wasn’t a fan of how the Theo situation played out.
- The writing was so repetitive.
- The fact that they both acted like the contract was this big hindrance, when it obviously wasn’t, got old real quick.
- The MCs were likable and had good chemistry.

3.5

This is a new to me author, and I enjoyed this. I enjoyed the arrangement made, and why it was made. I enjoyed watching these two fall in love. I loved how F wasn’t a pushover and how he understood the assignment. I also loved how possessive S was with F. The writing was good, the heat was good, I wished there were more things native to omegaverse like nesting but I still enjoyed this.

In the know:
Dual POV
No cheating or sharing
Needs diversity
No om/ow
Kinda relationship before spice

An okay story

The plot was good, but there were several glaring plot holes. If you want a little fluffy insta-love story, with mild family drama this is it.

Nice change on the Billionaire / Omegaverse tropes (but I can't recommend the series)

3.5 stars rounded up to 4, as I love a library-themed character

The reviews of this book convinced me to try this series, despite how cringey I sometimes find the "Billionaire" trope to be. I like Omegaverse if it's not too fluffy and/or has somewhat nuanced characters. Overall, except for one very dark plot point, this series did turn out to be relatively fluffy, but in a way that generally worked for me. It's sometimes nice to see partners stand up for and trust each other. The typical "miscommunication" tropes in these books are handled well.

That being said, I rated this book immediately after I read it, but I'm writing the review after reading the second book. Because of a twist in the second book, I can't say I'd recommend this series to many (most?) readers, myself included. While in some ways, the author did a good job of obfuscating where the main conflicts and resolutions towards the end of the second book might be, I can't personally get on board with how they were resolved. Many others may not feel that way, but enough others agree with me so I know I'm not alone. (Read reviews of the second book, The Heir, for more information.

DNF at 135 pgs (38%). Ummmm… the writing.

Also didn’t even think about the cover being AI. I was having a hard time finding a book to read this morning. 😬

not dark as claimed

I like the story but it wasn’t dark as claimed in the description. Another thing, the story was predictable, cliché . But entertaining enough.

Fluff Galore!

When I say I love omegaverse, this is what I mean. A book filled with fluff, with heat and nesting and knotting and mpreg and all the protective streak an alpha has over their omega. Ugh my heart is so full!

And don’t get me started on Sassy Finn confronting the wholeass family like it was a bad tv show. I was so here for it.

There are some loose ends (I’m assuming the author did it on purpose if another book is coming) so I can’t wait to see what River does with that.

A definite must read if you want a good omegaverse book, with mid pacing, arrange situationship with a he fall first and hard tropes.

I honestly disliked both of these books. I am not the biggest fan of omegaverse but will read them when I need a sort of... Palate cleanser... I have read a few books that have really weighed on me recently - such good books but my heart and soul needed something sorta mindless... I hate saying that about any sort of book but that is what these are usually for me so I don't mind when they aren't the best written or they mention certain things 100 times or are more fluff that plot but this series was full of red flags from the start.
I shouldn't have even decided to read them just based on the cover art. It honestly looks to be AI.. even the way the book was wrote made it seems like it was all AI... I haven't researched that but did see a review that mentioned there is no art credit for the cover. I need to be better about checking those things.
I still read this book and continued on to the next but DNFd the second. I was honestly skimming more than truly reading. The assistants name changes from book 1 to book 2, the series felt like chat gpt wrote it and I hated how the theo situation was handled. I hate that I even cared enough that it bothered me. Just killed him. Like - you couldn't help him. Even in the first book - just send him away - no options to try to help him get out of the situation - or at least not end up back the same situation... how broke he was... anyways. I will make note of this author and won't read anything else from them. Looking through their other books... every cover looks to be AI and that should have been enough for me to not read anything from them. I feel I lost a bit of my soul by even thinking about reading a book that possibly uses AI.
**Sorry for my lack of cohesive thought. I feel I word vomited the whole review! :o)

VERY repetitive

2.5 stars if I could. If I never read the words “clinical” and “transactional” in the same sentence again. I would take it as a blessing. OH and the phrase “I’m a CEO billionaire” blah blah blah. My GOODNESS the only thing that saved this story (FOR ME) was the pure comedic sass that Finn gave.

After EVERY repetitive phrase or line (mockingly) “clinical. Transactional.” The author gave a SAVING GRACE of a whirlwind of sass or banter that was serving 💅.

I had to knock down the stars purely because my annoyance at the repetition. Like the use of synonyms would’ve been GREAT in those areas.

Something of them felt copy and paste like a filler as they didn’t know how to move on without adding it first.

Now my rant aside I really liked this book purely because the characters were semi thought out. Was there some development? Maybe. The banter was top notch. And the retorts? *chefs kiss* Flynn gave it just as much as he got.

Story is short. Could’ve had more if they put in a couple for family meeting during the pregnancies progression. I feel that there was some plot holes that could’ve been filled but was left and ignored like potholes ignored by the state when asked about road management.

Read it or don’t. This is isn’t one I would personal recommend to someone but is open to discussing if asked about it.

Author keep up the good work! You’re great at handled confrontations in the story with sass and grace. Again the reason I said reading this book. I couldn’t wait for the next sassy movement to shine.

my first one…beautiful

This was my first, but definitely not my last, Thorne book and it was beautiful. I’m a instalove fanatic but this was not that. I fell hard for these two, Sebastian and Finn, in a way that it makes you say ‘ahhhh’ and sigh as the story began to build. I loved how Finn wasn’t portrayed as a meek and mild character but someone who had lived hard and had a backbone. How he stood his ground and never backed away from everything that was thrown at him was what made this storyline believable, like someone had actually lived through this. And Sebastian, wow, I loved how he allowed himself to slowly come to terms of finding not just a partner in Finn but he gradually grew with the acceptance of falling in love. I cannot wait to read and become in grossed with another story from this author…truly amazing work.

This was an almost zero-angst love story that I read in one sitting. That doesn't mean there weren't plenty of high emotions or moments of adrenaline because there were a few of those, too.

I genuinely loved reading about these two people falling in love despite their intentions and despite the odds. It was more than sweet. It was like a weird, but cozy, fairytale with the occasional assault thrown in. NOT a domestic assault, to be clear. The main alpha and omega are both kind and beautiful people, not what I was expecting, but lovely. I would recommend this if you're into low-angst, mpreg, fairytale-type love stories. If you are, then this is perfect for you. Now, I'm going to check out what comes next, and then go and see what else this author has written.

Fun

Finn is struggling to make ends meet. Bills are piling up, his brother is not helping and in fact he's making things worse. He needs something to give.

Sebastian is a lonely billionaire who's family wants an heir and he doesn't want to give in. His family is cold and calculating and he wants nothing to do with them.

To get them off his back Sebastian devices a plan to have a baby, a contract that ends with him having an heir and the omega who has it walks away, clean with 5 million dollars.

Sebastian did not count on falling for Finn, Finn did not count on finally finding a home and family.

Well written with enough tension to keep you turning the pages.

needs way more editing than it supposedly received

If I read “borrowed shoes that didn’t fit” one more time I was gunna lose it!

Cute story - heavy on repetitive either a lack of creativity or use of AI like others had pointed out.

Also agree a little more research should have went into pregnancy if you’re going to use pregnancy as a trope you should know how it works. If it works differently in this world the state that.

Again cute story, somewhat okay plot. Love scenes but I wouldn’t really say spicy like a 2?

Nearly DNF’d - another one where the ending is rushed and everything happens in the last three chapters in short sentences. I more than likely won’t be reading anything else by this author unless serious changes happen in writing.

Omegaverse/ MM/ age gap/ knotting/ found family/ billionaire romance/ pregnancy/ touch him and die/ forced proximity/ HEA

Trigger warning: death of a loved one/ cheating(not MCs)/ manipulation/ alcoholism/ betrayal/ kidnapping/ attempted murder/ assault/ blackmail

I wish this wasn’t so repetitive. I think the MMC mentioned that he was 42 a minimum of 4 times. Also, I know there’s another book after this but that feels unnecessary. Why couldn’t the MCs just get a finished HEA with this book? Sure, some things were unresolved but I honestly don’t care enough to justify reading an entire book about them.

written by AI

This author has published 12 short novels in 6 months, the covers are all clearly AI art, and the writing is pretty clearly AI. This book was in my recommended list on kindle so I picked it up with looking at anything except the blurb. About 20% in is when I started getting a strong feeling this was written by, or with the help of, AI. I then looked at all the books, both the publishing dates and covers, and this is definitely AI, which I don’t support because using AI is artistic theft.

AI doesn’t just magic up this stuff: it learns from real artists and authors. It steals from them.

Sweet and simple

Just a good, simple omegaverse romance. It is fairly light on covering any alpha omega topics and I loved that it didn't feature the typical omega oppression stereotypes.

Finn was perfection for Sebastian and you could tell from their first meeting they would fall in love. The book had drama but was low on angst between MCs. It was a good, easy read and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Great Book! couldn’t put it down!

I believe this is the first time that I’ve ever read River Thorne, but it won’t be the last! I read this book in one sitting! It was great! I didn’t want to put it down!

Sebastian and Finn! Total opposites! One poor, one a billionaire! One educated, one unable to afford an education! Total opposites! Totally perfect for each other!

Can The Arrangement last? Could they both get what they agreed to? Could they get something better?

Good read.

Overall this is a good read, there are some plot holes that bring the rating down one star.
I wished the story wasnt 50% pre pregnancy and 1 % post. The ending felt very rushed and would have been better with more chapters or a decent length epilogue.
However I really liked the characters and the storyline.
Spice was minimal.
Angst minimal
HEA yes

4.5 stars ~ I was beyond surprised by this book. It’s a new-to-me author who doesn’t have a large backlist and, frankly, I was totally blown away. I loved the characters. Finn is amazing and Sebastian is fabulous. They’re both written so well that I almost couldn’t put it down to sleep. Trust me when I say it’s been a long time since a new author wowed me like this.

I’m a sucker for this trope—arranged marriage, cold-hearted billionaire, etc.—probably because it qualifies as fantasy to imagine an ethical billionaire capable of understanding a working class person. Anyway, this was a very engaging romance with main characters who were compelling and a lot of tender filth.

🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵

This is a modern mm romance with mpreg, the first book in a series that should be read in order. Finn answers an ad for a carrier and enters “the arrangement “ with Sebastian. Things don’t go quite as planned and that was a truly lovely story to read! Great characters, unexpected moments and a HFN ending, what more can one ask for?

Very enjoyable

Finn and Sebastian’s story is a very enjoyable read. I absolutely loved both characters: Finn’s feisty personality and Sebastian’s protectiveness. Both come from awful families, and I love how Finn deals with them.

This book is a great way to pass a few hours, and I highly recommend it. Now, time to start reading Book 2!

Finn and Sebastian

I’m not a fan of this kind of writing style. I liked the storyline, at least until it became too sweet and fluffy. But when it’s written in this kind of almost chopped way, like it’s trying to be poetry, I just find it hard to read. I know there is a follow up book about what happens next. It seems to be a lot darker, with a lot of angst and drama.
