Wow!!! Incredible. This was a long book and that definitely wasn’t a bad thing for this story. You really felt all the characters’ emotions and what they were going through. This author is an extremely talented storyteller and wordsmith. I was just mind blown by the whole story because it was told so well and the characters were developed and executed so exceptionally well. I can’t wait to read more by this author. Bravo!!

I DNF this story. The blurb sounded interesting so I grabbed it. I was very confused when I started reading it. In the blurb it mentions the daughter, and the book starts with her great grandfather. It starts with Jacob, who takes in Sam, who marries Jacob's daughter, who has Marcus - Marcus, the guy mentioned in the blurb. Why did we have to start 2 - 3 generations back? This is why I avoid books over 500 pages. This is far too drawn out. The only saving grace was that the writing is ok. This is a pass for me though.

A Mother’s Promise

This book about WWII and beyond had so many different stories wrapped into one excellent story.

Maryan loved Marcus at a very young age and got pregnant but when Marcus got killed in the war, she married her good friend. She had Marcus’ baby, Amy.

The story tells of how they got separated and brought back together again. Great read.

A Mother's Promise

This was a very long book and one I really enjoyed reading. Normally I am not happy to finish a book that I have thoroughly enjoyed, but with this book I feel content in seeing the end arrive. Everything that needed to be resolved was concluded. It will be difficult to find another book that is as true as this has been.

I enjoyed this story. It was well-researched and written. A lot of the characters' endings were satisfying, but I felt sorry for Alex and would have chosen a different one for him. He was always honest about how he felt and I think the author villaified him too much.

Good story, bit of a formulaic one though. Held my interest as I love stories set in this time period.

I like books that are over 500+ pages. My rating is due to the fact that I felt there was repetition throughout the storyline.
