Colbie’s characters are sexy, hot, adorable - and often filthy - alphas and omegas. They include feudal lords with dark secrets, outrageous aristocrats with scandals buried deep in their past and poverty-stricken gentleman who have gambled away their inheritance.
Lurking in the background are notorious kings, princesses, and courtiers whose opinions change with each whisper in their ear.
And as for Colbie herself? She dictates her steamy stories with a glass of champagne in one hand. Because why not?
Alpha dragon shifter Larkin builds his life on control. Omega dragon shifter Percy burns hotter, louder, and far more on instinct. As rival firefighters, they’re supposed to be focused on winning, not on the bond that snaps into place the second their dragons recognize each other. What begins as a secret they think they can contain gets harder to survive every time they touch and every time they walk back into opposing stations pretending nothing has changed.
The more they try to keep duty separate from desire, the more the pressure closes in. Between the rivalry, the secrecy, and the raw pull neither of them can outrun, every choice starts costing them more than they expected. What should be simple attraction turns into something exposing, intimate, and harder to hide each time they step back into the lives they’re trying not to break.
Percy is emotionally open, impulsive, and deeply instinctive, but this relationship pushes him to face what it means to want something lasting, not just immediate. Larkin starts out guarded, dutiful, and tightly controlled, and loving Percy forces him to stop hiding behind competence and finally say what he feels. Together they shift from tense, secret attraction into a bond built on heat, trust, tenderness, and the decision to choose each other even when it would be easier not to.
An ultra-steamy MM omegaverse dragon shifter romance between rival firefighters bound by fate, secrecy, and an unexpected pregnancy, Scorching Heat digs into what it costs to be fully known. As pressure gives way to devotion, two men are forced to choose honesty over control and build something strong enough to hold fear, loyalty, vulnerability, and love.
The Elevator Pitch: Two rival firefighters are supposed to be chasing the same win, not the bond that ignites between them the second their dragons recognize what fate already knows. Forced into secrecy by pride, loyalty, and the lives built around them, their connection turns from raw hunger into something far more dangerous because it asks to be chosen, not just desired. As pressure closes in, both men have to decide whether love is worth the risk of being seen too clearly to hide.
Scorching Heat is the second book in the ‘Love Sync Firefighter series.’ It stars Larkin, an Alpha dragon shifter, and Percy, an omega dragon shifter. This is told in first person from Larkin and Percy’s pov.
The plot is simple with no real conflict. What conflict there is, is resolved very quickly with a minimum of fuss. This is a pretty straight forward storyline where Larkin and Percy are with different fire stations that are in a competition. They find out they are mates at a station bbq, say they’ll stay apart until after the competition, but don’t, and Percy gets pregnant. Their station buddies are upset thinking the mating bond will interfere with the competition. That’s pretty much the story. Since there’s no tension, the book is a fast read that didn’t draw me in.
I did like that Percy gave birth to an egg since he was a dragon also. That gives the information that dragons have bird-like or reptile-like reproductive organs. I still think omegas are pretty nonchalant and clueless about getting pregnant, and then are surprised when they are, like Percy was in this story.
I did like the idea of competing fire stations, but nothing was done with it. The competitions were short and vaguely written.
Overall, Scorching Heat didn’t draw me in. I liked the idea of the plot, but there was no tension or strong competitiveness between the stations. Larkin and Percy were also lackluster. I give this story, 2 Stars.

Larkin and Percy work for rival fire departments. The two departments have a very fractious relationship, always talking smack about each other and generally being on bad terms. At the kickoff of the annual firefighter skills competition, our two main characters realize that they are fated dragon mates.
Despite trying to keep their newfound connection under wraps until after the competition is over, Fate makes it impossible for these two shifters to stay away from each other.
Their connection benefits both Larkin and Percy as well as their fighting departments. Larkin is always professional and a bit stoic, known as a no-nonsense, all work guy. Percy is more fun-loving and easy going, while still a dedicated public servant. They balance each other out well. Percy brings a bit of fun and spice to Larkin and Larkin helps Percy to find his place to belong. Their unexpected connection, when revealed helps to heal the old rift between the rival departments as well.
Filled with instalove, friendly competition, a steamy physical relationship between Larkin and Percy and a cute little dragon baby, this is a fun omegaverse romance read.
Four stars.

Scorching Heat by Colbie Dunbar is a fun and sweet MM paranormal romance packed with dragon shifters, fated mates, firefighters, and even an mpreg twist.
Larkin and Percy are rival firefighters from different stations, and their competitive dynamic makes the beginning of their story really entertaining. During a station competition they discover they’re fated mates, which definitely complicates things. Trying to keep that secret while the competition is still going is hard enough—but when an unexpected mpreg enters the picture, their secret quickly spirals into something much bigger.
I really enjoyed the found-family aspect of the story with the firefighters from both stations. That supportive crew adds a lot of warmth and humor to the book and makes the world feel fuller even in a shorter story.
This was a quick, sweet read with great paranormal elements and lovable characters. If you enjoy dragon shifters, fated mates, and strong found-family vibes, this one is definitely worth picking up.

Scorching Heat is part of a 3 book, 3 author Love Sync Firefighters series featuring 3 Alpha Dragon firefighters and their omega mates. This series takes place in a world where the human population is aware of human omegas and Mpreg. The humans are not however, aware of shifters, especially dragon shifters. As in dragonets come in eggs which can take up to a week to hatch and need to be hidden from their nosy colleagues. Scorching Heat is about two dragons at separate fire stations finding their fated mates at the kickoff BBQ for the station annual “who’s the best” competition. Agreeing to keep things a secret for six weeks while the competition finishes doesn’t work out so well when they can’t stay away from each other. This is a very sweet, cute, spicy, adorable, fated mate, mpreg, shifter romance. Of course, there is baby to unite the two stations and an HEA. I will be reading the other two releases in this series. Sometimes you just need something a little on the lighter, happy side. This second book in the Love Sync Firefighters series delivers a lively mix of rivalry, romance, and paranormal chaos in a compact, easy-to-read story. Set against the backdrop of competing fire stations, the tension between ambition and undeniable attraction keeps things engaging from the start.
What stood out most to me was how the story balanced its more playful elements, dragons with opinions of their own and the escalating secrecy with genuine emotional stakes. The central relationship develops quickly (as always) but still feels sincere, especially as outside pressures begin to mount and complicate matters in unexpected ways.
The firefighter setting adds a nice sense of camaraderie and structure, while the dragon shifter aspect brings a fun twist that keeps the story from feeling too familiar. There’s a good blend of humour and heart, with just enough drama to keep the pages turning.
Overall, it’s an entertaining, light paranormal romance with a strong romantic core and a touch of chaos that makes it memorable without overstaying its welcome.

Two firefighter dragons from rival companies are the MCs for Colbie Dunbar's"Scorching Heat". Station 12 is an elite company, with new, high tech equipment. They're led by alpha dragon, Larkin. Omega Percy is part of the scrappy Station 9. Underfunded and with older equipment, they're determined to be top engine in the competition. They have definite Not Meet cute. Percy is pretty snarky, even going so far as sauntering off. Being fated does not mean that they're gonna play nice. Everything is a competition with the intent on crushing each other. This continues to the baby shower later in the book. Shower games usually aren't mediated by a clipboard! The story is a dual opposites attract, between shifters and between their animal sides. Percy's dragon is quite snarky, just like him. Larkin's dragon is pretty taciturn. That said, they're pretty opinionated. The engine companies are cliched. In a good way. Large, loud found family.

What is better as a dragon shifter in my book? Two dragon shifters in my book! Especially these two, Larkin and Percy. Both working on a fire station, but on rival ones who are in a competition. At the opening barbecue they both realize they are mates, so what now? Their teams won't like this, but their dragons can't resist each other.
I like both of them. Larkin being so serious and planning everything and Percy always joking and making everybody feel good. I do understand that they kept their relationship a secret for their teams. I liked how the competition went on as did their relationship. What I like even more is the talking of their dragon's in their heads.
How it turned out after their relationship coming out? For that you have to read the book. You won't regret it when you like a good fantasy read.
This book is part of a series, but you can read it as a stand alone.
"I wanted to collect his smiles in an album so when I’d had a bad day, I’d open it up and run my fingers over them."
This is the third book I've read in this new multi-author series Love Sync Firefighters. Colbie Dunbar is one of my favorite authors so it was a no brainer to grab this when I saw it on Booksprout. This latest "Love Sync" series as well as the past seasons are so much fun. It's an awesome way to get a chance to sample other authors that you might not know.
Two dragons, both firefighters in different towns, long standing firehouse rivals competing against one another, fated mates, an instant connection that must be kept secret, somehow secrets always get revealed, hurt feelings, meggs
I loved this book! It drew me in from the first pages. The characters come alive. I could easily see them. Their personalities shine . The rivalry between the two fire stations is longstanding. But the attraction between Larkin and Percy is as immediate and intense as it is inevitable. Keeping their relationship secret during a fierce competition is even harder than keeping their dragons in check, in a world that doesn't know they exist. But together, they find a way to make it all work. Of course they're is a pregnancy, nesting, an egg, and an adorable baby. HEA is assured. I guarantee you will love this book. So grab it Now!.

This was such a cute and fun read. Fate sure has a sense of humor.
Imagine being rivals with your fated mate and trying to not let the world know you’re mated. That’s exactly what happened to Larkin and Percy.
While facing off in a competition, the two discover they’re mates and are faced with the dilemma of whether to stick to their duties as firefighters or their duties to protect their mates.
Being together compromises their allegiance to their stations but they can’t help the pull from their bond. Keeping their hands off each is an impossible task.
It’s hard at first, but they find a way to work things out. After all, they’re now a family.
This was short and sweet. I love dragon shifters and I will always read anything about them, especially when there are babies in the mix🥰
Book 2 of the Love Sync Firefighters series. Can be read as a standalone.
'Scorching Heat is an M/M mpreg dragon shifter romance featuring fated mates, rival firefighters, fire crews who throw competing baby showers, and two dragons who figured it out from the start. If you love rivals-to-lovers with heat, heart, and a hatchling, this book is for you.'
The characters were very appealing and likeable and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and exciting and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. All in all a great addition to the series. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

Percy & Larkin work for opposite fire stations and during a local competition to see which team is best, they sense their mate. What starts with awkward conversation leads to two men opening their hearts and allowing the other to take the burden they've lied on themselves. The banter in and between the two houses is what keeps you wanting to read more of this story. Percy and Larkin you could feel the beginning of their connection, just would have liked to see more of them together as a couple and the two firehouses working as one unit. For me felt more of the start vs their whole story. Overall am enjoyable read just would have wanted to see more of the couple together.
This was a fast paced, fun and passion filled story of firefighters from rival firehouses that fate was determined to see together. Their first interaction was jaw-dropping, with Percy's flippancy and 'dismissal.' Can't say I'd be thrilled about the specifics, but they found their mates!! That would eventually register and boundaries would need to be put in place. Now, KEEPING them there for the 6-week duration would be another matter entirely.😉 it's an engaging and well done story, with great side characters to boot. Hoping some of them get their own HEA.
I was gifted a copy of this book and voluntarily provided this review. Happy Reading Y'all 📚
Larkin is the lieutenant of Station 12 Fire Department. While at a kickoff barbecue with Station 9, their rival, he smells his mate. Percy is a member of Station 9 Fire Department. He's also their secret weapon in the upcoming competition. When he smells his mate and realizes that he's his rival, he attempts to distance himself. Yet Larkin gets his number and reaches out, and that is when their secret rendezvous start. They're risking a lot by keeping it from their stations, but what can they do? I really enjoyed the story.

Scorching Heat is part of the multi author Love Sync Firefighters series. This book can be read as a standalone but why not enjoy the whole series. This is the story of Larkin an alpha dragon shifter and Percy an omega dragon shifter. This was a sweet quick read that I couldn't put down once I started. I loved the characters and world building that went into this book. The plot was fun and interesting. I loved both guys personalities as well as their dragons. This was a great way to spend a few hours. I would definitely recommend this book and series. received a free review copy
I absolutely enjoyed this dragon shifter romance. Rival fire departments...very competitive...Station 12 with Larkin the alpha and Station 9 with Percy the omega. So much snark and plenty of banter had this such a fun and delightful read. Just a little angst with the secrets...understandable secrets but all's fair in love and war I guess. Their mating was hard earned...very spicy and with sweetness thrown in. Wonderful HEA...I really enjoyed this and I think others who loves Colbie's book will too.

Percy and Larkin are firefighters in rival houses. Their rivalry is legendary and they absolutely shouldn't be interested in each other. Too bad their dragons have discovered they're fated mates. Now nothing can stop the inevitability of their bond and trying to hide not only their dragons from unknowing humans but also their relationship makes things a little difficult. Thankfully their relationship brings about the joining of the two houses.
Larkin and Percy story was interesting with a side of rivalry, secrets, shenanigans and a baby that made miracles happen. I liked their chemistry and their moments together, as well as the hurdles they get over it together. I also liked the event that put to rest the rivalry and united the two stations. I enjoyed the moment their bundle of joy entered the world and how changed their lives forever. It was an enormous read and I’m looking forward to the next adventure.
Scorching Heat by Colbie Dunbar is the second book in the Love Sync Firefighters series. This is a yummy rivals to lovers romance with all the good feels. Totally Fun! Percy and Larkin are firefighters in different Houses. Their Houses are entered into a local competition and when they meet, they realize they are mates. Being on competing teams, trying to win for their Houses, trying to establish a strong mating bond and keeping their secret for now is fun and exciting. Delightful story and excellent cover art. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Such a great quick read. Larkin and Percy work at a competitive firehouse that’s currently participating in a firefighter competition, so they feel the need to keep their growing relationship a secret. Despite that, they continue to bond and grow closer. I highly recommend this book. 🔥.

Larkin and Percy are rival firefighters from different stations and the Lennox Cup is up for grabs. What they did expect was that when they met at the BBQ that they were fated mates. They decide to keep the relationship a secret until after the competition. However, when Percy becomes pregnant the secret is out. This is a sweet, fated mates, a little firestation drama and a HEA
Loved that the story starts with Percy and Larkin's meeting. It was easy to see how loyal both where towards their fire stations but also how strong the mating bond is. Including the dragons thoughts added humor towards the book. Ultimately I think both suited each other and brought both fire stations together. Having mpreg was a bonus which I enjoyed.
What a neat story about men who start out as rivals only to discover that they are fated mates. Larkin and Percy have quite a change in relationship and the depth of their relationship is hurried along by an unexpected pregnancy. This was entertaining.
