Emery Corbin built her YouTube following by debunking ghosts, curses, and small-town legends. Proving the eerie tales of upstate New York's Crowsbridge Hollow are nothing more than hoaxes could be the story that pushes her channel into the spotlight. But then she meets Declan Sterling. Brooding, reclusive, infuriatingly sexy, and downright rude, Declan owns the House of Ink and Iron—the only tattoo shop in historic Crowsbridge Hollow. His body is etched in ink that tells more than stories—it moves. Reacts. Awakens whenever she’s near. The Sterling family is cursed. The price was devastating. And the consequences still rule Declan’s life. Each time Emery and Declan are together, her skepticism crumbles a little more. His tattoos pulse in her presence. Desire unleashes visions she can't deny. And the town seems more invested in tourist dollars than exposing ancient secrets. Unraveling the truth behind the curse could free Declan. But loving him drags Emery into the curse’s embrace.

Autumn’s latest release, House of Ink & Oaths takes us in a different direction from her usual writing of the MC Romance series The Lost Kings. Here she delves into the world of Paranormal Romance featuring a super hot cursed hero/tattoo artist and a YouTuber/investigative journalist debunking the stories surrounding myths, legends and ghost stories. This is Declan & Emery’s story. Set in Crowsbridge Hollow, Emery Corbin starts out to uncover the truth behind the story of the Ironbound Rider, a headless horseman terrorising the small town, but then stumbles upon the story of the Weeping Widow, could they be connected? Drawn towards the House of Ink & Iron, she meets brooding tattoo artist and owner, Declan Sterling. He’s rude and standoffish, but not easily put off, Emery continues her chirpy banter, trying to pry information out of him about the towns legends. Unbeknownst to her his skin ripples with (not just muscles!) living tattoos connected to the Rider and a curse his family have carried for years, and so the story begins. A story written to grab the reader, from the start. From page one I was standing on Main Street catching the scents of Maple-Apple crumb muffins and yummy fudge! Set between Halloween and Christmas every page is written with atmospheric scenes, cold with lots of fog, no sun and a mix of Christmas trees and shimmering skeleton garlands. I liked the fact that the story remained compact without too many side characters and details to remember. I would’ve read it in a day if life hadn’t got in the way! Autumns writing is easy to read, descriptions are detailed but not overly so. Her stories flow with ease, her characters banter ever present and believable. I was there, immersed and breathing it all in. Her alpha heroes are always hot, brooding but protective, her heroines, sassy and strong. The spicy scenes were spicy, an all round fabulous paranormal romance. I received an ARC in return for an honest review, a shimmering 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
As some of you know, when Autumn releases a book, all other life gets put on hold for me until I am done reading it. She has never disappointed, and after reading House of Ink and Oaths, I am positive she never will.
This book is an amazingly spooky & spicy story, with curses and haunting tales, in a town which embraces all the dark lore and runs with it.
My favourite description is what Emery thinks about Declan. “Tantalizingly tall. Too hot for his own good. Grumpy AF.” It made me laugh out loud when I read that line.
This book has: Grumpy/sunshine Small Town Sleepy Hallow style Touch her and die Strong FMC 🌶️🌶️🌶️
I received a ARC If you have read any of Autumns books this is totally a new genre This has Nora Robert’s mcgregor brothers meets spicy 🌶️ mc pierced tattooed god This book knows my precious Z off his Loki throne Declan and Em have instant chemistry is about breaking a generational curse finding truths and love 💕 Sleepy hollow inks and oaths Beautifuly written 10+ stars I read in one sitting an I’m wanting more of sleepy hollow !!
Strangest book I have ever read from Autumn Jones Lake !!
This definitely was a first for me I have read all your MC Books and absolutely loved them but reading this was definitely a first for me. Might I just say I loved it , the mystery, the supernatural, the strange tattoos and all the different characters was really good. I really love a good mystery and this was super awesome , Declan and Emery were definitely meant to be a couple. If you want a great story of supernatural and romance then this book is for you ,I recommend it to you with a 5 Stars rating
Wow, this book sucked me in right from the very first page. I was captivated by Emery’s interest in the legends of Crowsbridge Hollow and I loved everything about her character. Duncan owns the House of Ink and Iron tattoo shop in this town and he’s part of the family whose curse Emery is there to unravel. There were so many layers to this story and I was so invested as each layer was pulled back. I love the chemistry between Emery and Duncan and I couldn’t turn the pages as fast enough. Definitely a five star read for me!
The spooky mystery had me devouring this book. The characters were so fun too. The chemistry was fire. I've read everything that Autumn has written, and really loved seeing how much her style has developed, before this return to paranormal, which has knocked it out the park.
Autumns latest release and although it's a different genre to her normal LOKI one, it is every bit as addictive!
We have Declan & Emery that instantly have this pull towards one another, however when she's trying to uncover a secret that he's trying to keep hidden, things get complicated!!
This book is cute, it's intriguing and it's spicy as well as having the banter that AJL has down to a T.
This book is not 5 star worthy. It is 10 star worthy because it is such a fantastic read with an amazing story that will capture your imagination and it will not let go throughout the whole book. You are constantly on the edge of your seat with the goings on in Crowsbridge Hollow and you will fall madly in love with Emery and Declan who will have you swooning at every turn of every page. This is not the norm from what we are used to reading from Autumn Jones Lake and this book just proves her versatility and ability to adapt to any genre and you know you will always get a first class read. This book reeled me in hook, line and sinker from the very first page and it did not let up at all. Another brilliant book from an amazing author that I was so fortunate to accidentally discover a few years back and I have not once wavered from my undying love for her writing and all the amazing and wonderful characters I have been introduced to. This book is a must read as you will not be disappointed and you will love the legends of Crowsbridge Hollow and all the spook goodness that you will be caught in. Could not get enough!
House of Ink and Oaths is a gothic romance with a touch of the supernatural that will have you hooked from the very first page. A beautifully crafted story that weaves its spell on you as you get drawn into the dark and quirky little town of Crowsbridge Hollow and its history, residents and folklore. Emery's in town investigating the 'spooky happenings' for her YouTube channel and in her quest to find the truth becomes part of the story in ways she never could have imagined. Declan knows more than what the tourist brochures say after living in this town his whole life and although the last thing he wants is a journalist looking into things that should be left alone he can't stay away from Emery. Filled with intriguing characters, intense chemistry, suspense, love and twists and turns that will keep you captivated as the mysteries, curses and secrets of this small town are revealed. Another amazing story from this author that I would highly recommend to anyone!!!
Autumn Jones Lake is back with something different: House of Ink and Oaths, a standalone paranormal romance. This was my first dip into the paranormal romance world, and I found it to be an enjoyable, entertaining read.
It has spooky, Sleepy Hollow, Halloween vibes with a hot, broody, protective tattoo artist (Declan) and an independent, sassy, inquisitive journalist (Emery). As a fan of Halloween and “scary” movies, I thought this was fun and easy to read.
It was refreshing to dive into something new from Autumn outside the Lost Kings world. Knowing what I know about the time she wrote this, I’m happy she was able to find joy in writing their story and sharing it with her readers. Although this isn’t connected to the Lost Kings, I can’t help but imagine Ravage being set up by Margot to visit this town just so he gets the pants scared off him. IYKYK 😉.
Declan and Emery and a whole wonderful world of spirits and creepy other worldly beings make this a very intriguing and exciting new read from an author primarily known for her Lost Kings biker series. I absolutely loved and devoured this new standalone book. It had all the elements that I loved in her biker series...romance, emotional push-pull, interesting characters, witty banter and a couple of opposites who really found their common goals and major attraction. I don't usually read paranormal romances very much but because I love this author's works, I decided to give it a try, and I am really glad I did! If you like a little bit of scary spookiness with your romantic thrills...this is the book for you.
***** 5 ***** "a ghostly rider and a weeping statue with a little ink" stars
"Wow!! I fell in love with Autumn’s writing style while reading the Lost Kings MC series and I own all of the books! This book is a whole new experience! I love how she combines a towns paranormal legend, a believable love story, and threw in a motorcycle to boot! I love Declan and Emery’s story and the pull they experience!! While she works to debunk the legend, he is trying to keep her safe, and during all of this, they have a connection that is so strong it pulls them together!! Is it only related to the legend or is it true real feelings?! You’ll have to read to find out and I promise you will not be disappointed!!
5 amazing and well deserved stars! I have loved every book AJL has written. Although I was a bit skeptical about this one, as I don’t read paranormal. But… This was AJL at her finest. Strong protective alpha hero. Strong and independent heroine. Beautifully developed love story. And in addition, a quirky town with a haunted legend. Declan and Emery remind me of so many characters from previous books. Rock and Hope. Wrath and Trinity. Dex and Emily. Chaser and Mallory. (There’s even cinnamon gum!)
After reading Autumn's books for years, I was excited to delve into this new book. The banter is there, the characters are awesome, and she created a new town and characters that I'd like to live in and be friends with. As someone who loves spooky season, I love that the book combined Halloween and Christmas and possibly a Valloween in the future. If you like romance with some supernatural elements, you'll love this. And even if you don't love supernatural books-i think you'll love this. 💕
I thought this was a cute book. I like that it had a little bit of fantasy to it as well. I wish the angst between the main characters would have been better, but it was still well thought out with some good banter. I love how possessive the MMC is. And how persistent the FMC. The sex scenes were pretty good too. But I felt overall thr book was a bit rushed. Maybe a bit too short? I feel as if there are still a few questions unanswered and I was left a bit unsatisfied how it worked out with the curse. But overall it was an easy read and a good one!
Thank you AJL for the advance copy. All opinions are my own.
House of Ink and Oath has got it all: a broody tattoo artist, a smart and gorgeous YouTuber, romance, paranormal activity, curses and a mystery. It is so unique and wonderful and I had a lot of fun reading it.
I absolutely love the mystery aspect of it. I would love to see Autumn take Emery and Declan on more paranormal adventures (hint, hint).
4.5⭐️ This was a nice change from the MC world and I really enjoyed it! Totally safe and love the paranormal mystery Family curse Grumpy pierced tattoo owner Sunshine paranormal mystery reporter?? Idk is that what they’re called lol Declan was pretty perfect, I mean I love a guy who chases after his girl! My only gripe was that once the mystery was solved the paranormal aspect just…..stopped, but overall I really enjoyed it!
Autumn Jones Lake does it again. She brings us characters filled with trust issues, interesting side effects and instant chemistry/sexual tension. The main characters-Emery and Declan-live completely different lives; yet they are drawn together by a curse-or so Declan believes. You don’t want to stop reading and each new discovery pulls you closer to danger and the truth. A definite MUST READ.
House of Inak and Oaths was an enjoyable read. It reminded me of a spicier version of a Hallmark movie (which I love!). The town is quirky and a bit mysterious, and the side characters are eccentric. The FMC/MMC has some low-stakes conflict but has chemistry for days.
Loved it! Declan & Emery are a match made in a cursed spooky town. I was expecting this to be part 1 of their story, but it’s all their story, no cliffhanger….yayyy. Now that I’ve read this, I think I’ll give Autumn’s original paranormal stories another go, started them so many times and could never continue. Wish me luck 🍀
This was so fantastic! I love Autumn and pretty much devour everything she writes! Of course this didn't disappoint. Honestly it was a little spooky, a great retelling and a beautiful romance !
3.5 stars. Declan and Emery are super adorable together. The ending seemed rushed to me and I have questions about the curse with no answers and that’s frustrating, but if you can get past that it is a cute story.
Plot: Emery is a YouTube star with a channel dedicated to exploring and explaining the paranormal. When she comes to Crowsbridge Hollow, she thinks it will be more of her usual, but upon meeting the sexy and mysterious tattoo artist Declan, she quickly realizes that her normal skepticism might not serve her well here. Declan seems like he wants nothing more than for her to go away, but that is the farthest thing from the truth. Declan wants Emery in every possible way, but more than that, he wants to keep her safe. What do the town, the Rider, and the Widow want, though? Nothing is ever that simple in Crowsbridge Hollow, as Emery will soon learn.
Commentary: As always, the writing is so clean! Some authors have a talent for the technical part of writing and some have a talent for storytelling, but Ms. Lake does both, and quite well. It was fun to visit a place outside of the author's normal Lost Kings series (although I'm always up for more of that!). One thing that I liked was that this was the rare Romanclandia couple that wasn't going to have children and explicitly talked about it and didn't change their minds in the epilogue. I also loved that Emery was a paranormal skeptic but wasn't a jerk about it. And Declan was just about perfect. Definitely a fun read!
Wow! I'm not a fan of paranormal reads, but this was so good! It's not over the top paranormal which I appreciate. Emery looking for truth over exploitation is breathtaking. This is so well written and I expected nothing less from Autumn Jones Lake. Well done!
I loved Declan and Emery, everything about this story was absolutely phenomenal but let me be completely honest here if Autumn Jones Lake writes it I will read it no matter what
I absolutely love Autumn Jones Lake, and while this is outside of her Lost Kings world she knocked it out of the park. This was my first five star read in a while. It gives strong Sleepy Hollow vibes with Emery, a badass FMC who runs a paranormal YouTube channel and is fully doing life on her own terms. Declan, the brooding tattoo artist bound by his family’s curse, falls hard and fast while trying to keep Emery safe from the rider as they work together to break the curse.
