This book was pretty intense. It contains Romance, Intrigue, and adventure. Melinda awakes in a strange man's bed only to find out that she is in the process of becoming a Vampire. Valdemar is a powerful Vampire who bit Melinda. Valdemar is going to show her how to become a Vampire and how much he has to give this young woman. Even though Valdemar is a powerful Vampire, he does have a soft spot. He wants to show Melinda what she needs to do in order to regain her so called life. In doing so, he falls victim to her and wants to protect her with every part of his being. When Valdemar's friends visit, they do not accept Melinda, and they want to get rid of her and Valdemar. This book is very interesting....I don't want to give away too much, but you should definately read it! I finished this book in two days. It was difficult to put down. It definately will keep you captive and wanting more.

Unfortunately I purchased this book and the 1st book in this series (Dark Desire) at the same time. I read them both because I didn't want to waste my money. Instead, I wasted hours of my life (thank goodness I'm a fast reader, otherwise it could have been days). The characters are unsympathetic and the writing lacks continuity. There were several places in this book where I went back because I was convinced I had skipped passages/pages. The story would suddenly JUMP somewhere new and I found myself a little lost. The hero's motivations are confusing and I just didn't care at all what happened to him (and isn't that kind of the whole point of this genre?). The heroine had potential, but the pieces never quite came together to where I cared what happened to her either.

so far it reads very compelling and you just don't know where it is going. That makes it pretty interesting.
