Terror on Mount St. Helens
Paleontologist Grant Coleman is on vacation at a lakeside resort near Mount St. Helens, Washington. All he wants to do is relax. But while he’s floating in an inner tube on the lake, the dam fails. He and others are swept away in the ensuing flood.
He awakens on the riverbank somewhere downstream in the heart of a national forest on the slopes of Mount St. Helens.
He meets Ridley Montrose, a back-to-nature woman living off the land, as well as a group of fraternity brothers dumped from a party boat on the lake. They huddle by the river, awaiting rescue.
But that is no place to rest. The waters around Mount St. Helens harbor deadly fish. Murderous beasts, thought extinct for thousands of years, hunt the forest. Seismic activity shakes the earth. Death stalks the group at every turn.
Countless numbers have died on these slopes over the decades, and it will be a miracle if Grant and his party survive the terrors on Mount St. Helens.

When I saw there was a new one for the series had come out I was excited to read it. It’s probably the most realistic representation on how I’d be in this situation. Grants sarcasm and Pessimism get him into trouble so much and he’s a realistic plus size character. At this point I’m still surprised he’s “still alive” but this is yet another amazing read for the series and I devoured it in one go. I love this series and I can’t wait for the next book

Another fun Grant Coleman adventure, with the cuts and bruises to prove it. It was nice to see Kathy West and Nathan, but I wish we had seen more of them, and interaction with Grant some more. I think they would be great in action together.

Excellent! Great characters, great cryptids.
This is one of the best cryptid books I have read. That's saying a lot because I read so many cryptid books. This book has it all with great characters, humor, and, of course, lots of scary situations.
I do hope more from this brilliant author is coming out soon.

A fun read
Didn't disappoint. I've read all his books and i always feel sad when it's done. I want it to go on and on. From beginning to end a wild ride and totally enjoyed time well spent

I love these books
Your books have kept me greatly entertained. Light-hearted and yet adventurous, soo funny! I often laugh out loud with the professor's narrative on his own thoughts. The first one in the series i initially thought was going to be like a b grade horror , but I soon fell in love with the series and am hungry for more! Thankyou so much for these great books

Both funny and horrific
For the most part it was well written but needed a better editor. The sentence "we are nearing to you thank you think" took me a minute to figure out what he was actually saying. A decent editor would have caught that. The story though was really really good, and I couldn't help liking the self-deprecating protagonist, Grant Coleman. I am going to have to go read the rest of his adventures. I Hope they're all as much fun as this one.

Grant Coleman is back and going on vacation, never a good idea with his track record. Relaxing and looking forward to the cheeseburgers, things take a turn for the worse. Stranded in a national park, after a dam explodes, he and a small group need to traverse the park avoiding creatures that should not exist. Another good book, with Grant on top form, still not dead!!

As always, it was great to be back with Grant while he fumbled his way through surviving another of these crazy and unwanted adventures!
His journey is definitely not over (that last chapter!) Definitely can't wait to be back with Dr. Coleman.

another fun creature feature
Like the previous books in the series, this one is interesting without being overly serious. It’s funny and well-written, while also exciting with good twists. It’s a safe, reliable formula that works well for someone looking for something science-fictiony without being all doom and gloom. There was one part with a young elk that animal lovers won’t love but I was able to skim past it and didn’t lose anything from the plot. Easy and fun.

What do you know, Still not dead.
Another fun and entertaining read about the unluckiest professor I have ever heard of. Some day he will get a vacatin that does not end in him running from thought to be extinct animals.
This one has our loveable Grant Coleman trying to have a vacation and get to the cheeseburger bar. But of course fate and the Green Warrios happen to change those plans. Now he is running from multiple extinct animals as well as mother nature.
Again great work on the research on these extinct animals. I do enjoy the explanaina Mr. James puts in about the reality vs. what he says in the book about the animals. I think I learn more about extinct animals that way they I ever did as a kid.

As always, I'm never disappointed with Russell James. Terror on Mount St. Helens was a thrill ride for sure. More disbelief than usual was required, but don't let that keep you from this lastest in the Grant Coleman series. I'll keep the reasons to myself, no spoilers here friends.

Terror and humor mixed just right
Loved this author, he writes about about a professor that is like anyone on the street. Overweight,
Does not exercise, totally out of shape. He wants to go on a vacation to relax and the luck of finding
Herds of paint animals that always trying to eat him. He has all the luck.

Grant Coleman is back as the sarcastic, pessimistic Professor who just can't catch a break. It doesn't matter what he does or where he goes, trouble seems to follow. This time he thinks things will be different as he books a relaxing break away. What could possibly go wrong?

Another good vacation for Grant. The dialogue is fun as Grant continues to defy the odds by picking vacation that somehow turn disastrous.

Paleontologist Grant Coleman needs a break. After his previous deadly encounters, you'd think he'd earned one, but the universe apparently has other ideas, for way up in the picturesque national park that comprises Mount St Helens, it isn't long before our hapless hero is once again embroiled in an adventure that surely must leave him wondering why he didn't decide to vacation somewhere quiet and peaceful - like downtown Dallas for example.
Here he does battle with foes of both the human and animal kind (and, by animals, I mean ones that have no business being there - well, at least not in this day and age). So, the question is, has Grant finally met his match? Did he leave it too long to embark on a Slimfast programme? Or will he succumb to the attractions of a fellow traveller as they try to escape the clutches of a wilderness that doesn't play by the rules? Or to put it bluntly, just what is going on here?
If, like me, you enjoy a tense, pacy adventure with lots of thrills and a sense of humour, you'll love this latest instalment in the continuing adventures of a latter-day, somewhat past-his-peak-of- physical-fitness, Indiana Jones. I felt this was another solid adventure but the ending felt rushed for me, the story was moving along nice and then bam! It's over. Still, I look forward to the next chapter.

Bite-size chapters (pun fully intended) make this a quick, easy read. Action, humor, and a protagonist I can only think of as an out-of-shape Indiana Jones made this enjoyable. I didn't realize when I got this that it was book 9 of a series and am interested in seeing what came before.
