Their affair is this exclusive resort's best-kept secret
Beautiful, ambitious Robyn Henderson fought hard for her place in the sun. Now Belleza Resort's head event planner is getting ready to pull off the charity event of the season. But when a series of bizarre incidents befall the desert retreat and suspicion points at LA restaurateur Sean Parker, Robyn is convinced he's innocent. And now her boss's brother–and secret crush–is drawing her into a sizzling taboo affair.
Sean's return to the family fold is fraught with pitfalls, especially when he's wrongly accused. His most passionate ally is his sister's best friend, a woman Sean has crushed on for years. Aching to make their undercover romance public, he fights to clear his name. As a vengeful adversary plots to destroy his family's lasting legacy, Sean must decide where his future lies. But can he also convince Robyn to trust in their love?
My love for reading developed at an early age. My parents, Daniel and Gwendolyn Odidison, were both avid readers and encouraged me to read as much as possible. Trips to the public library were the highlight of my week and by the time I was in junior high I was reading everything from biographies to suspense to True Confession magazines!
I got my big “break” when I was only fourteen-years-old. I read my first poem at my local church and received a standing ovation. Reading my poems and seeing my plays come to life on stage proved to me that I had a God-given talent for the written word. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Education, I hugged my family goodbye and boarded a plane for Seoul, South Korea. I loved every minute of living in Seoul. The people, the food, the culture, the shopping. Three years later, I returned home with a fresh outlook on life and a gorgeous fiancé (yay me!) Jean-Claude and I married, settled into our new home and now have an adorable, three-year-old daughter named Aysiah who keeps us very busy.
I penned my first novella while teaching in South Korea and upon the advice of a good friend and colleague I transformed, Other People’s Business, into a full-length novel. I wrote The Trouble With Luv’ soon after. Two years and thirty rejection letters later, I signed with super-agent Sha-Shana Crichton from Crichton and Associates. Six weeks later I had a two-book deal contract with Harlequin’s African-American Romance line, Kimani Press.
Her Kind of Man, and Love T.K.O. were both released in ’08, and this year there are more scintillating stories to come. I’ve written seven books now, but I feel like I’m just getting started! A huge thanks to all of you who attend my book signings, send me I-love-your-book-emails, leave messages on my Facebook page and who are recommending my books to other die-hard romantics. Sage Collins and Marshall Grant will heat things up in Games of the Heart (August 2009) and a feisty PR Director and a fine, ex-NFL running back rekindle the flames in Passion Overtime (November 2009). Read an excerpt of my novels under the heading Books.
If you enjoy a good romance story, rich with desire, scorching HOT love scenes and a few unexpected twists and turns along the way, you’ve come to the right place. Grab one of my books, recline in a comfy chair and enjoy the ride! I guarantee you’ll love the heroes and heroines featured in my stories. They’re strong but flawed men and women who are just looking for a little love and tenderness! That’s all for now, friends. Happy Reading and be blessed!
Good job Pamela, what a great way to end the California Desert Dreams trilogy. This story focused on the relationship between Robyn and Sean. It finally tied up the loose ends concerning the myth of a treasure and a curse on the hotel. It was nice to see Robyn finally get the man she has loved most of her life as well as it was nice to see Sean come back into the family fold. Still don't like him but it was a really good book lol. Two thumbs up Pamela .
Even though the second part is currently out of print, this was a great conclusion to this trilogy. While the settlement of the family feud was a little anticlimactic, the story had a good flow and Sean and Robyn were great characters.
Great read! Robyn was getting on my nerves how she treated Sean! I never rolled my eyes so much at a book before! But overall this book was great! & I happy Robyn finally stop playing with Sean feeling and was ready for him to love her!
Besides the romance, Robyn Henderson has two girlfriends, besties for effsies—until the two of them find stellar men. Suddenly, they don’t have much time for her anymore since they’re busy getting cozy with their significant others. Their idea of having Robyn tag along is to find a blind date so she won’t be a fifth wheel. Robyn doesn’t care for that idea and neither did I.
Matters are complicated because Robyn does start dating. But it’s the brother of her friend Kim, who is also her employer. He’s estranged from his family and poor Robyn is caught in the middle. Her attempts to get them to put aside their differences and just talk come to nothing; neither one is willing to budge or effect a reconciliation.
It’s a mess, all right, and an interesting difference in this otherwise standard romance. Sean is as determined to get Robyn as he is to avoid his sister and gets impatient at Robyn’s attempts to keep her job, accusing her of being a workaholic who only cares about business. I didn’t see it that way and Sean’s lack of consideration really grated on my nerves after a while.
The requisite happy ending is marred by Robyn’s final decision about love and business. She becomes yet another woman who can only make it in the world by hitching her wagon to her husband’s stars. Congratulations.
I absolutely love a friends to lovers romances and Ms. Yaye certainly delivered. From one night where the romance is sparked between the two friends (who’ve been secretly crushing on each other) all the way to the drama that tears them apart and brings them together for the happily ever after.
Robyn isn’t like her two best friends who were born into money. She had to scrape her way through life in order to get to her position as a premier event planner for the hotel. The fact that things weren’t handed to her gave me an added respect for her. Although Sean possesses more than his fair share of pigheadedness, he’s also sweet and knows a good thing in Robyn when he finds it. The sneaking around to be together so that their affair stays a secret adds to the dramatics of the story.
This book can be read as a standalone and I found this series unique because the three books were written by different authors, but they were able to keep the personalities and interconnectedness of the character’s relationships consistent.
This is the third book in the California Desert Dreams series, featuring Robyn Henderson and Sean Parker. They have had a crush on each other since high school. Neither have ever acted on their feelings. Bizarre accidents keep happening at Belleza Resorts, suspicion points at Sean and Robyn is convinced he's innocent.
As they secretly date, Sean wants to make their relationship public; Robyn is scared of commitment, losing her job and her best friend. Detectives are getting closer to finding the culprit, as Sean tries to convince Robyn that she is is future. Loved how this book tied up all the loose ends.
Robyn Henderson has loved Sean Parker of SP Grill since they were teenagers. Finally he has seen the light. Finally they got wild and spontaneous with amazing chemistry and become true soul-mates. This best kept secret is the third story of the trilogy (spoiler alert) all the unanswered questions left from the first two in the series comes crashing down. Robyn best friend of Sean's Sister and Gabby does her thing as the Event Coordinator of the Bellaza Resort and Spa and manages to find her way to love at the same time. Great novel, steady with twists and turns. Jonah needs his own story now..
Pamela Yaye wrote an awesome ending to a wonderful trilogy, "California Desert Dreams!" Not only do we learn about the treasure of the Belleza, we also learn about Sean's story and his reluctance to accept his family back into his world as well as learn that he has a burning desire for Kim's best friend, Robyn. Their love story is hot and sizzling from start to finish. The series is definitely a must read.
"A great recap of the previous two novels wraps up this series nicely. It’s always refreshing to have a male character who goes after what he wants" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).
It was fun seeing the relationship between Sean and Robyn progress. I loved that it was finally revealed who was trying to destroy the Belleza Resort and Spa I didn't see the outcome coming at all I wish there was more in the series because I would read them or it.
