Killian Bosch knows he’s his own worst enemy – he just doesn’t give a damn. The star forward of a minor league hockey team, he’s unstoppable on the ice. She’s determined to transform the Flyers from marketing nightmare to hockey powerhouse. Once she gets Killian in line, she knows the rest of the team will follow his lead.

FOUR SEXY SPORTS STARS.

"Even when you drive me crazy, you're the only one I want."

description

Short, sexy and satisfying. Brenda Rothert always hits the spot with her fantastic sports romances and 'Killian' is no exception. I love the feeling I get when a 'go to' author releases a new book and I'm proud to say that Rothert will always be on my one click radar. Read in almost one sitting this book had that unputdownable appeal that made me smile and swoon. Kudos to Mrs R for making me fall in love in less than 250 pages.

What's it all about?
Take a smart, focused entrepreneur who only has business on her mind and add into the mix a hot hockey player who hasn't had much luck at playing by the rules and you get the kind of chemistry that romance books were made for. Brenda Rothert creates the perfect blend of naughty, romantic and forbidden to bring a love story to life between Killian the star hockey player and his new boss the 'ice queen' Sidney Stahl. Will their lust and outright addiction to each other make it to the end? I was dying to find out. A perfect quick romance that only confirmed how much I love this authors writing style.

What did I love?
Well I think I've almost already covered how much I liked this book. It goes with no surprise that I don't mind gushing about this author and her uncanny ability to make me fall straight into lust with her gorgeous story telling. Killian was a hero that I definitely felt greedy over he had a foolproof jumble of sweet and kissable and let's just say he grabbed my attention more than just once throughout this story. The heroine more than held her own, I may have mentioned in previous reviews of this authors books but Rothert definitely knows how to put pen to paper and create female characters that rival their counterparts. Sidney was a winner in my eyes, strong and sassy she was a heroine that was easy to read about and as for them as a couple I was dizzy with excitement. Dirty, flirty and as sexy as my most recent google search this novel was right up my street. Nothing much to not like here, thank you Rothert you never seem to fail at making me one happy reader.

Why not five?
I honestly can't conjure up much to complain about when it comes to my liking for Author Brenda Rothert. This book had lots of things going in it's favour and i can say with total assurance that readers will enjoy this novel. However, I think it mainly comes down to it's length (I wanted more to fall in love with) and its inability to make me believe that this book can stand out from the rest. Thoroughly loveable but not quite stand up and punch me in the gut five star.

description

Final thoughts ...
If you are looking for a sports related romance that is as hot as it is entertaining then you won't go wrong getting excited about having this short novel on your e-reader. I'm never disappointed with this author who consistently brings her writing talent to the table and I have no reservation in admitting that she will always be a favorite. Hot hockey players and heroines that deliver the goods, don't miss out on reading this authors writing. Killian is full of heat, heart and a happy ending that will leave you ready for more. I can't stop smiling when I think about this book and I'm looking forward to hearing other readers fall similarly in lust. Enjoy ... Kisses.

4 “Killian” Stars.

Killian is the proverbial bad-boy of hockey. He likes to play hard on the ice… and outside. When the team’s reputation starts to get bad, Sidney, the team’s new owner decides it’s time to intervene. She believes Killian, being the team captain, is the most likely to persuade the players to change their bad-boys habits so she decides to start with him.
Sid is too much of a challenge for Killian to resist, and on the other side Sid slowly starts to fall for him as well. And when it all comes down to it, what’s more important: your love or your job?

You know how I love books with athletes, and this one was no exception. It was a little on the short side, so the relationship isn’t as developed as I would like, but it’s sweet, it’s romantic, it’s steamy and it has a sexy hero and enough drama to keep us entertained.
Definitely, a series I’ll follow!

Characters Development: Despite his asshole manners in the beginning, I really liked Kilian and how he grew as a character. He was a pretty solid hero. Although I’m not usually the biggest fan of heroines who call all the shots, I liked Sid. She knew how to not control when she should. There were nice supporting character that I’m very curious to read about.

2.5 STARS

description

Killian Bosch is the captain of the Fenway Flyers, a minor league hockey team. On the ice he’s the best, outside he’s a ‘bad boy’ getting in fights all the time and a womanizer as well. Everything is about to change for Killian when he meets the new owner of the team. Sidney Stahl is the new owner. She’s a smart, successful, independent woman who knows what she wants. And she wants to change her new team’s image. For that to happen her players have to change their bad-boys habits. She’s smart, so she knows if she gets Killian in line, the rest of the team will follow his lead.

Killian and Sidney are drawn to each other from the very first moment. They know very well getting involved is dangerous for their reputations and their careers, so they try to remain professional. They try to stay away from each other and fight this strong attraction they both feel, but in the end they can keep their hands off each other.

This was just an ok read for me. I really wanted to like it more, but unfortunately I couldn't for a couple of reasons. An important thing for me as a reader when I read a romance, is to ‘feel’ the chemistry between the main characters. In this case I didn’t feel any. None!!! I didn’t understand their ‘connection’ and I didn't feel their love for each other. Needless to say, I didn’t feel connected with them.

Killian is portrayed in the blurb as a bad boy. He was definitely not a bad boy! Well, at least not a real one! He was more a caricature of a bad boy. From the moment he meets Sidney he’s smitten with her and she immediately has him pussy whipped. It wasn’t sexy or sweet or anything. His dirty talking is just so lame. It wasn’t alluring at all. Also, he doesn’t have a clue how to prepare his partner when they’re about to have anal sex. It wasn't his first time so I suppose he should knew about it. What thing that I liked about Killian is how his character is developed. Sidney is a strong woman. She’s hardworking and smart and overall I liked her. But at times she was a litte harsh with Killian and maybe inconsiderate as well.

The sex scenes between them are poorly written, very short and they didn’t do anything for me. Also the ending was too abrupt for my liking.

Overall, just an ok read for me!

ARC provided by author in exchange of honest review

Brenda Rothert is another author and friend that I adore and love. She has always been one of those authors who has always been on my auto-click list. And in her new release, Killian, prepare to fall in love with the bad boy hockey star who will steal your heart and melt your panties.

#killian

When you got yourself a hot alpha male and an independent fiesty sassy woman then you got a recipe for a smoking hot, sexy, and passionate romance. And did I mention this hot alpha male is a sexy hockey player...yes, ladies, Brenda once again will heat up those kindles with her newest sports romance book. Killian is one short sexy read that will have you begging for more Killian Bosch.

#Killian1

Since this book is a quick sexy read, I really don't want to spoil the book for the readers. But all you need to know is that this book chronicles a minor league hockey star and his romantic interest is none other than the hockey's team newest owner, Sidney Stahl. Both Killian and Sidney have this instant attraction and connection that will seriously melt the ice. There is no if, and or but about it, when Killian and Sidney are together, these two are a perfect match. They compliment each other's personality and fit each other sexually. Killian and Sidney's relationship on and off the ice is a blend of forbidden, sexy, and wanton love story. Can Killian and Sidney balance their working relationship and their personal lives? Can this bad boy hockey star melt the walls surrounding the Ice Queen's heart?

Brenda once again was able to treat her readers to another great sexy read. She was able to incorporate wit, sass, banter, and steam in this well-written book. And to top it off, she has one bad-ass heroine who shows that she can be successful on and off the ice.

☆ I received an ARC via the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you! ! ☆

“Face the unknown. I truly believe the only reason we fail is by not trying.”

I liked Killian, I did. I just wish that the two main character’s relationship started up more slowly, at a more reasonable, realistic pace is all. Everything just developed way too fast at a rapid pace that made it feel a tad amiss.

That said...on a more positive note...

While I do appreciate that their relationship is pretty easy-squeezy and not angst-ridden, I also enjoyed that there was also focus on Killian growing and expanding as a person and Sidney letting him do so since she was already at the place she needed to be.

Love is about sacrifice. And sometimes you need to let something, or someone, go in order to let them spread their wings and face the ever quenching question of "what if?".

Killian making a career leap into the big league, with Sidney’s encouragement and blessing; as well as, Killian and Sidney conquering the odds set against them, makes me wonder what author Brenda Rothert plans go next with bk2 of this series. I’m personally hoping that she will focus on Liam and Keri since I was always curious as to what was happening with them.

Anyway, I can’t wait!

I love a good sports romance, particularly with a sexy hockey player. I liked that this was about a minor league hockey team and that the team owner was a woman. I really wasn't crazy about Sidney or Killian and didn't feel a lot of chemistry between them but I still enjoyed this book.

Ok , so this might sound weird but the first adjective that came to mind when I wanted to describe this book was soothing. I was smiling through most of it . Killian and Sidney were amazing together , they were honest with each other , they acted like adults which really felt like a breath of fresh air.

Killian is a perfect hero and Sidney was an amazing heroine , I loved having the heroine be the rich ,successful and self made millionaire for a change.

In most romance novels , I like some angst , I don't mind couples fighting (not stupid , frustrating fights though) , it keeps my interest and attention alive. This book was low on the angst but still kept my interest throughout the book , even though any angst was resolved rather quickly , it was all realistic and relevant .

I think my only complaint would be that at the end I seriously thought it might end with a cliffhanger , because not much pages were left and I didn't feel close to the end . Maybe an epilogue would've satisfied me more ? or a novella in the future ? . [[ I am assuming that the next Volume will be about another couple , hopefully Liam and Keri ]]

So Anyway , If you're looking for a book that would make you feel good after a really angsty read or a long day , I think this one is for you ;)

4 HOT KILLIAN STARS

His sincere expression made my heart melt a little. Killian’s sweet, vulnerable side had been worth working for. His brash exterior protected something wonderful.

Before reading KILLIAN, I wasn’t familiair with Brenda Rothert. After reading Killian, I can gladly say I’m a FAN. A big fan. Even though, at first, I was afraid that I wouldn’t fully enjoy it, because KILLIAN is a shorter novel than I’m used to reading. Normally, while reading shorter novels, I find the characters aren’t sufficiently detailed and I can’t completely lose myself in the story. When I finished KILLIAN's first chapter, I immediately felt relieved. Brenda’s writing is exceptional and she has the gift to use very little words, but have the adequate amount of detailing to make you feel like you’re part of the story.

I had nothing to lose, and a man with nothing to lose was never someone you wanted to fuck with.

Killian is a cocky and arrogant minor league hockey player. He’s the captain of the Flyers. Thinks he owns the world. Fucks women for a living and is almost never with the same woman twice. He doesn’t think much about women in general. There is one thing he’s serious about in his life though and that’s playing hockey. That’s why he can’t stand the players on the team who aren’t as serious about it as he is. Yes, Killian is a troublemaker, hothead and womanizer. And it may seem he doesn’t care what other’s think about him, but that’s not entirely true. Inside, Killian is very insecure. He doesn’t think he’s worth enough being with someone long term. Other words to describe Killian are protective, honest and sincere.

Nothing annoyed me more than someone who took their career and their future for granted.

When Killian meets the new owner of the Flyers, Sidney, he feels an instant connection to her. It’s a first for him and he doesn’t really know what to do with all those feelings. Sidney is pretty serious about her career and future and doesn’t care for people who aren’t. She doesn’t like ambivalence or childish behavior. What she does like though, is hockey. She always has. And she knows her hockey. So it’s a dream come true for her, when she has the possibility to own her own hockey team. An opportunity she gleefully accepts. Even though she has a very chauvinistic father who criticizes her every choice and just wants her to marry a wealthy man, Sidney is a successful multi-millionaire thanks to hard work. As a result she’s happily married to her work and men are the farthest thing from her mind.

My breath came fast and hard, all rational thoughts forgotten. All I could do was feel, but this feeling was like nothing I’d ever experienced. I was drowning in Sidney, and I never wanted this kiss to end.

Throw together a serious business woman with no time or interest for men and a very lost boy who’s the opposite of monogamous with a different woman every night, and you get a powerful connection. From the first moment they meet, a forbidden relationship starts to grow gradually. Feelings arise and develop overtime. (“I apologize for jumping you before letting you explain.” “You haven’t jumped me yet, Sidney. But you will.”) They both try to deny it, but still try to find ways to see the other. But there comes a point they can’t withhold any longer and that’s the starting point of sparks flying. Even though they both know it’s wrong and they don’t believe they are right for each other, it feels right when they’re together. Very right. They can’t go long without spending any time together. It almost feels like an addiction. Will they survive together or is it better for them to live their lives separately?

Women who felt empowered by the way I looked at them? That was fucking awesome. But this one, who was empowered all on her own? She was irresistible.

I liked both Sidney and Killian. Killian started out all tough, but it wasn’t long before you could see that was all a facade. Killian was actually very cute. I loved how they both spoke their mind and they could argue like the best of them. But when they went a couple days without speaking, they missed each other. Almost every time, Killian was the one to apologize. I found that very sweet of him. I loved Sidney because of how empowered she was. I didn’t really see the ice queen in her. She was soft and cared about Killian. She also didn’t know how to fire her failure of an assistant, Nicole. It was admirable to see how loyal Barb and Keri were to Sidney.

“I wish we could date.” Her eyes were soft when I looked over at her. She wasn’t Sidney Stahl, corporate powerhouse, but a woman whose vulnerability was incredibly sexy.

I was very happy to find out short novels aren’t all bad, because I absolutely loved KILLIAN. Ms. Rothert’s writing is pretty great. There are a couple hot scenes, but the balance between sex and the story is perfect. There’s not too much sex in this book. And the sex scenes aren’t too descriptive. Don’t expect six-pages-long sex scenes. So, the sex is hot, but you know what is even hotter? The seduction scenes. Brenda knows exactly how to slowly build the tension. She made me blush a couple of times. Even though KILLIAN is only twelve chapters long, Brenda Rothert succeeded in creating well-described characters with depth. She gave these characters a mesmerizing love story.

“If you’re on the ice, I’m watching you. And whether it’s a good idea or a bad one, this is happening. You and me. It’s already happening, and I want to stop pretending we can stop it. I don’t want to stop it.”

KILLIAN is cute, powerful and HOT! Same as its character with the same name. I loved reading about Killian’s story and I can’t wait to start Bennett’s. For me, this was a very pleasant way to get acquainted with Brenda Rothert. Are you looking for a sexy and forbidden love story? KILLIAN should be the next book on your TBR-list!

“You’re good and loyal and strong, Killian. I don’t care what league you play in. I don’t care if you collect trash for a living. You make me happy in every way that matters.”

Not my fav troupe.
This wasn't for me.
I'm all for a bad boy having a change of heart and being bowled over by the heroine but his attitude was too much for me.
The heroine was also very strong and although I don't like a push over I also dislike Alpha type female leads.
Before meeting heroine.
Hero says 'My mind wandered to the brunette bartender who worked at the bar I hung out at. She was much more interesting. Stacy. She’d slid down the waistband of her pants last night to show me her new tattoo—some kind of flower design right above her bikini line.
She’d asked me if I’d stay until close tonight, which meant she wanted to come home with me after her shift was over. F***, yes I would stay until close. Nothing excited me like f****** a woman for the first time. Only a handful ever made it to a second time though.'
It's not the heroine he's thinking of.

He meets the heroine and 'Once I was alone with Sidney, I’d get this meeting over with and then lay on the charm nice and thick. I was already picturing her in my bed tomorrow morning. Stacy the bartender would have to wait.'
He's such a charmer....

That said he only has eyes for her once they spend a bit of time together.

No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine but the Hero thinks the things that are quoted above.
Other man drama, an ex who wants to get back together.
Other woman drama, several ex hookups and an assistant makes a pass at him.

HEA.
As series of books HEA probably be seen throughout the series.

This could have been so much more, unfortunately it wasn't. Insta-lust between the two was not believable. Sidney is a self made 20 something multi-millionaire who falls for the bad boy of minor league hockey. She then loses her ever lovin mind. For such a successful business woman, she turns into a scatter brained horndog. Killian is supposed to be an Alpha in the bedroom, but it was just kinda boring. The dirty talk was flat.
Also needs a good editing, there was very little attention to detail. Extra words here and there and one thing I couldn't let go of was "pot lighting" The term was used in describing Sidney's kitchen. Is she growing hydroponic pot in her kitchen? Puck lighting is the term if you have little lights set under the base of your cabinets. Could have been good with a little more effort.

Killian Bosch loves being the star of the minor league Fenway Flyers; although he is probably the most talented guy on the team, he remains there by choice rather than pursuing a step up the NHL teams. He has never wanted more and he has actually cultivated his bad boy image to avoid catching the eye of the big league brass in a good way.

New team owner Sidney Stahl has her work cut out for her. As a female owner in a man's world, she is going to be under plenty of scrutiny as it is, but regardless of how big the waves are going to be, she intends to dive into the deep end immediately by straightening out the team's image- starting with Killian. Although he finds his new boss sexy as hell, he'll be damned if he is going to toe the line just because she thinks she can threaten his position or beat him into submission with her position of authority, and they butt heads from their very first interaction.

"This is my team, Ms. Stahl. You may have written a big check to call it yours, but in every way that matters, it’s mine. Lazy guys and all."

Sidney is just as attracted to Killian, but she can't afford to be sidetracked by it. She has worked hard to build a name for herself as a legitimate businesswoman, and a fling with one of her players will do serious harm to her reputation. That doesn't stop the sizzling chemistry between the two of them though, and Killian is a man who is used to getting what he wants. Before long, they find themselves spending time actually holding civilized conversations that progress to getting to know each other more with an underlying thread of UST that just continues to grow. It's only a matter of time until they both give into it, and it throws both of them for a loop.

Killian has never been in a position where he has wanted more from his career or from a woman, yet he finds himself in that very uncharted territory before he knows how he got there. Sidney makes him laugh, think, and just feel in general, but they come from 2 very different worlds. Minor league players don't bring home anywhere near as much money as the big league pros, and he knows that she comes from a wealthy family in addition to being a self-made success. Insecurity and vulnerability result in a few knee-jerk reactions with questionable choices, and I loved this line from Sidney as she points out their differences to him after one of those moments.

“I’m Gucci, and you like hoochie.”

Despite their differences, they find themselves falling into a relationship as doubts continue to plague both of them. Killian can certainly dirty talk with the best of them, and Sidney finds herself more than happy to turn over control to him outside the office as it only makes her burn hotter for him. He is such a great combination of dirty, hot and sweet, and I couldn't help melting for him myself when he spent a day teaching kids how to skate and play as part of an image building gig set up by the team. When Sidney decides to try to help him, he freaks out but realizes he has to make a decision: is he ready to face his demons and his fears about his own self-worth, or will he let his dreams pass him by and likely lose Sidney in the process?

Killian was a great read! I have had this book sitting on my Kindle for far too long and I am kicking myself for waiting this long to read it. The connection between Sidney and Killian was tangible as they slowly moved from lust to love, and it never felt like a case of insta-love. They are a great example of opposite attracting and being exactly what the other one needs as they overcome the perceptions of those around them.

I have just recently discovered Brenda Rothert and I am quickly becoming a one click addict with her work. Killian is the first in her new On the Line series. Killian is the team captain of a minor league hockey team. The team has a new owner and a new coach and things are about to steam up real fast for Killian.

I like when the strong silent type meet their match. Killian did not have a chance once he laid eyes on Sid, the new owner. He stumbled and fell big time despite Sid's protests that shouldn't or couldn't be together.

It was nice to meet some of the other players on the team. Great start to the series. Looking forward to reading more!

On The Line is the latest series from Brenda Rothert. It is a spin off from her Fire and Ice Series - and we do see snippets of characters of the series we have grown to love through this first book.

Killian is the captain of the Fenway Flyers. A team in the minor leagues - a team that has been failing season in and out. Killian himself is a bad boy that nobody wants to touch - his wild ways, his disorderly conduct, his drunken escapades and the umpteen women he beds. He is a PR nightmare with a bad and sullen attitude. He is also drop dead gorgeous and all man. He is the best player on the Flyers team, but because of his behavior and bad attitude, he is also not really confident of his future with his team.

Enter Sidney Stahl aka "The Ice Queen" - the new owner of the Fenway Flyers. She moves in swiftly appoints Orion Caldwell (squeeeee from the Fire and Ice Series) as her new coach. She also brings along with her a team to try and help with the PR and management of the team. Sidney is brought in to inject some much needed capital and to turn the team around. She wants the Fenway Flyers to be the best of the best and will stop at nothing to do this.

The moment Sidney meets Killian she realises things are about to change dramatically. Instantly attracted to him, she knows that the idea of a relationship between her and the team captain is a very bad idea. Killian though has very different idea's. He feels the chemistry between himself and Sidney to his bones - and is bound and determined to see something happen.

I adored Killian - he was everything you ever wanted in a sports hero - drop dead gorgeous, lots of talent (on and off the ice), bad to the bone but with a heart of absolute gold. He was funny and every now and then he would expose a side of himself that would have you absolutely swooning.

"Someday Sid," he said. "Not today, but someday I'll make you mine." Killian by Brenda Rothert

He was just such a great character he never wavered from the beginning of the book and although of course we did see changes in him as he began to realise the depths of his feelings for Sidney, he was still the bad to the bone man we had come to quiver over.

Sidney was so refreshing as a female lead character - succesful, smart and hardworking. I loved the fact that for a change both leading characters were succesful and hardworking. I also enjoyed how we got to see the struggles that Sidney faced in trying to determine whether she would follow through with a relationship with Killian. She had to think about the team, her family - she came from a very wealthy and almost aristocratic background who she knew would consider Killian a step down for her.

I loved the dynamic between these two. Even though they were at odds initially they were immediately attracted to one another. As time passed and their friendship grew, the chemistry between the 2 exploded and it became increasingly difficult for them to stay away from one another. The scene in Sidney's office where Killian tells her he won't touch her, literally had me fanning myself! HOT!!!

However, with all of the feelings of chemistry and the deepening of feelings - will it be enough for these two to fight for each other. Killian is on the verge of being called to the major leagues. Sidney has vested interestes in many other businesses, which means her schedule is unforgiving and she spends a lot of time travelling already. Will she be able to handle the added stress of a relationship? Will anyone accept the relationship that she has developed with one of her players?

This book is getting 4 swooning, lusty stars. I loved this book. It was a romance novel that for a change wasn't all about wham, bam and thank you ma'am. Don't misunderstand me, there are plenty of parts that will leave you feeling hot and bothered, but for the most part, it is just an amazing love story. I am a huge fan of Brenda Rothert and get ridiculously excited any time I hear that a new book of hers is being released. I look forward to reading about the other players from the Fenway Flyers! Another great book Brenda!

4 stars by Jen Skewes

I love Brenda Rothert’s writing and will read anything that she writs. Especially when it involves a sexy hockey player because let’s face it I am a sucker for a sexy man on skates. I was sad to see the Fire On Ice series end but so excited to find out that there would be a spin off series about the minor league team.

Killian Bosch is the captain of the Flyers, a minor league hockey team. His coach is Orion Caldwell whom we met in Release. The team is having a bit of problems at the moment. The team needs a complete makeover so to speak. Killian is one of the best players on the team and the captain for a reason. But in the past his bad boy ways have gotten him into trouble. Between the fights and the many women he has made a name for himself. But now that there is a new owner in town, that is all going to change. The new owner is Sydney Stahl and yes you read that correctly. The new owner is a she, who is smart, rich, beautiful and known as the ice queen.

Sydney is young and beautiful and rich. She is here for one reason and that is to turn this team around. He job is her life. She worked hard to get where she is so all of her time and energy is dedicated to her business and now this team. She has no time for dating or a love life and certainly no time to be drooling over a sexy hockey player, especially when said hockey player works for her. But there is something about Killian and she finds herself thinking about him in ways that she shouldn’t. And not just because she has no time for love but because he is off limits. An owner of a hockey team should not have anything more than a professional relationship with her players. Right? Can Killian convince the ice queen that they are good together and be the one to melt the ice around her heart?

Let me just say that I loved Killian and Sydney together. Brenda knows how to create these sexy hockey players that you just fall for. Killian has this bad boy side to him but he has his reasons for being that way. But deep down he is a good guy who cares. He is falling for Sid in a way he never expected. He is sweet, sexy and loves to talk dirty. Sid finds herself falling more and more each day for Killian but she knows that being with him is wrong. But neither one of them can deny the attraction and connection that they have. They just work. They are simply made for each other.

I loved watching these two battle with their feelings for each other and I loved watching them fall in love. I loved that there was not a lot of drama and angst because honestly it was not needed at all. The drama that did come was within their relationship. Their drama was real and had everything to do with their feelings, and falling in love, a territory that seems to be foreign for the both of them. I felt their connection between them and at times felt my heart racing just a bit wondering what would happen next. But in the end Ms. Rothert left me smiling. I loved that we got to see more of Orion and some of the moments that he had with Killian were touching. I did want a little more in the end and their story while it ended happy leaves room for more. But I know that there will be more to this series where I hope to see more of Killian and Sid. Loved this one!!

Killian Bosch is used to getting what he wants. Women throw themselves at him. The endless supply seems to keep him happy. Until one day, he gets a look at the hot new woman that just walked into the Hockey Arena. Turns out she is his new boss. But that doesn't seem to stop Killian. He sets his sites on Sidney Stahl and is ready to play to win.

Killian is the first book in Rothert's hot new Hockey Series, On the Line. Ans she so does not disappoint. I am a sucker for hot, sexy, alpha hockey players!!! Killian is the main man, the Captain of the Flyers, he seems hell bent on staying there, yet he has so much more potential. When an opportunity arises for him to step up and play for an NHL team, he finds himself letting Sid into his world. He had dreams of playing in the NHL, he was good, one of the best, but when his mother became ill, his world seemed to stop. Playing professionally no longer had the same appeal. He had no one to share it with. So he settled for playing with the Flyers. No woman, other than his mother, saw the drive and determination in him, until Sidney came along.

Killian is the hottest, dirty talking, alpha hockey stud!!!! The banter between his and Sidney's characters is awesome. We get to see that Killian actually has a softer side to him and that Sidney will find a way to bring it out. I was laughing like crazy over these two and their friends only add awesomeness to the mix. If you are a fan of hockey, you definitely need to pick up this book and any of Brenda Rothert's books for that matter. Her writing style is awesome, she knows how to draw the reader in from the first page. I have a very hard time putting her books down. Generally I read them cover to cover! 5 Dirty Hat Trick Stars!!!!!

Killian is the first book in Brenda Rothert's new 'On the Line' series which is a spin-off of the successful 'Fire on Ice' series. In this series we are being taken down to the minor hockey league.

Killian Bosch is the team captain of the Flyers. He has a history of being a bit of a bad boy by getting in fights, being arrested and taking home a new girl every night. Sidney Stahl is the new owner of the Flyers. Sidney needs to overhaul the team's image, starting with the team captain.

*sigh*

I'm sorry Brenda but I have to be honest. I liked this book but did not love it.

The book summary had painted Killian as a bit of a wild card, jerk. I was really looking forward to a true bad boy. But unfortunately we are only hinted at his bad boy past. Instead of a lion, Killian was a kitten.

Sidney was a professional woman in a man's world. This created an interesting viewpoint which I enjoyed. As part of her professionalism she was quick to set bounders with Killian. After all, she owned the team he played on. And just as quick she stepped over that line and started something with Killian. I was expecting a little more resistance or ethical dilemma on her side. There wasn't any sexual build-up to their story. They seemed to fall too quickly together.

I always enjoyed the hockey back story that Brenda does. She knows this world well. And I loved that Sidney was the rich successful business woman. It's nice to see this role got to a woman instead of a man.

Boss Woman Rule

Sidney is a woman in charge of her companies and now her own hockey team. Killian is the bad boy captain of the team but one look at Sidney and he has a reason to clean up his act. Love that Killian isn't threaten by Sidney's success. This book is all around awesome.

This book was just okay for me. I think my biggest issue was that both Sidney and Killian were supposed to have these big "alpha" personalities and I really didn't buy it. I feel Sidney gave in way too quickly to Killian despite supposedly being the "Ice Queen" and being really "focused" on her job. I didn't get either feelings from anything I read. Furthermore, I thought Sydney's dialogue was annoying and to prim and proper. Then Killian is supposed to be this kind of manwhore, take charge kind of guy and that only went on for the first chapter and then he was suddenly reformed because of Sidney. The progression was just way too quickly and everything was wrapped up in a neat little package with zero angst. It felt flat and was just a little to goody goody for me. There was also the whole bit with Nicole, in which nothing happened. At the very least I thought I gave this 2 stars instead of one because despite all of that, it had it's entertaining moments. I didn't love it though. Not sure if I'll move on to Bennett's story.

2.5 hearts!

I liked the flow of the story and general premise. Where the story confused me was this strong, self made woman who seems to allow this cocky hockey player to run her for a bit. Their feelings developed a little too quickly for me and I would have rather explored the strength of each of their characters.

I did enjoy the hockey concept and Killian was definitely a hottie!

4 Steamy Stars! This was a short, sweet, sexy story of a captain a minor hockey team that is known for his man whore ways and constantly getting into fights or being arrested for disorderly conduct and the sexy and beautiful new owner of his team. They are instantly attracted to one another but due to ethical reasons, they are restrained from pursuing that attraction.

I really liked both MC's. The hero, Killian, was sexy & arrogant but sweet. Once he set his sights on the heroine, he was committed. The heroine, Sidney, was smart, sexy, feisty and straight to the point. I liked that there was no bullshit with her. When the time came she had no problem spelling things out for him which thankfully brought no unnecessary drama. Their chemistry was palpable and the sex was steamy.

All in all, I enjoyed this authors style of writing. I felt the story was well written and engaging. I will be reading more of her books :-)
