Doomed Vows #4

Darkest Addiction

Rate this book
He ruined her. Now he’ll risk everything to win her back…

Dmitri Volkov is a man haunted by his past—a single father who remembers almost nothing, except his son and the wife he thought he lost forever.

Her death left him numb, consumed only by the need to protect his child.

Until the day he finds a half-conscious woman sprawled across the backseat of his car on his way back from a mafia meeting—dirty, ill-dressed, and clearly unhinged.

He orders her thrown out—until his son begs him to take her home. For his boy, Dmitri would do anything.

At first, she means nothing. Just another burden.

Until the memories return.

Until he realizes he was the one who shattered her, broke her trust, and left scars that may never heal.

Now, forgiveness is not a luxury she can afford, no matter how much he begs.

Then she disappears—vanishing without a trace, a trail that leads nowhere.

Madness claws at him. “Prepare the helicopter,” he roars, teeth clenched. “I will scour every corner of the earth—every city, every shadow, every border—until I find her. My woman. My family. Nothing will stop me.”

Penelope thought she’d left him behind—the man who once held her heart and destroyed it.

Yet the threads of destiny, twisted with old treacheries, force their paths to collide once more.

As Dmitri fights for forgiveness, and Penelope struggles with trust, the shadows of their past close in.

Can a heart that was shattered learn to love again?
And is the love that once burned brighter than the world strong enough to survive the ultimate test?

About the author

O.S. Feathers

15 books189 followers
O.S Feathers writes dark, twisty love stories about morally questionable men and the fierce, brilliant women who bring them to their knees, sometimes literally. She has a soft spot for arranged marriages, possessive antiheroes, and heroines who know how to shoot or at least threaten with style.

She drinks too much coffee, lives for slow-burn tension, and has never met a knife-to-throat scene she didn’t love. When she’s not writing, she’s probably researching obscure Russian swear words, rewriting a spicy chapter for the third time, or convincing her characters that therapy is not, in fact, the enemy.

If you like your love stories messy, dangerous, and just a little unhinged, she’s got you.

I have finally finished this series and I will admit, the first two books within this series I was super into and was enjoying the story, then the final two books completely ruined it for me. What has been written in 4 books could have been 2, Dmitri and Penelope’s story has been dragged out too far in my opinion and I found the story going back on itself and getting very confusing. Some book series are valid in being a series, but I don’t feel like this story needed 4 books. Granted they are short, only took me about 3hrs however why make 4 short books when you could 2 longer ones?

I enjoyed the story line (until this book) and how heartbreaking their relationship is but this just wasn’t it for me and I am gutted about it.

There were things that didn’t make sense to me (possibly spoilers!!!!!!) ….

1. You’re telling me she was starved for a year and was somehow putting on weight?? I know that can happen but not over a year of nothing but rice and beans. I feel as if Penelope being a larger woman was being extremely milked in this book and the author was practically screaming from the roof that she is plus sized. In reality after the trauma Pen had been through she would be malnourished and ill.
2. She dragged Dmitri through all that, told him if he saves the girls she’ll forgive him. And then nothing, back to square 1? It was so frustrating.
3. What the hell happened to those girls???? They were safe in that house, then nothing? No closure to that part of the story.
4. The first chapter more or less is the author repeating what’s already happened as if it’s a recap on Netflix.

All in all, it was just so disappointing💔the books were too short and confusing and there were always things that were contradictory. The ending was a typical storybook ending and after the events within this book i expected something bigger and bolder? I’ve never ever left a bad review I tend to be optimistic about storytelling and books however this really let me down.

Honestly I loved the other books, I enjoyed the plot the drama everything…. I was so anxious and excited for this book only to feel let down. Between the memory changes of characters; which was briefly mentioned in one of the other books and then not really brought up again and then now used as a main plot point felt very rushed. It felt at points that the author just wanted to scream from the rooftops that Penelope was plus sized instead of actually sticking with a storyline. Why was it mentioned that her memory being changed could’ve been reversed if it didn’t happen so many times yet we find out that vanya was because he was young, but if I remember correctly he was close to or the same age as her when the memory erasing started. You built up this beautiful mother and child relationship and then you remove it and never give us what we were truly after which was at bare minimum an exciting reunion of mother and child. I understand needing it for a plot point but never giving us that relationship back was hard to continue reading on. Her forgiving dmitri after everything felt rushed as well. The entire ending of the book was so extremely rushed. He saved the girls put them in a home gives them a choice of leaving or staying (we never did find out about that and who stayed or left or if the one girl finds out about her husband) and then she runs away to Greece with her son who doesn’t remember her, he accepts her finally and then she forgives Dmitri and all is well and they are in love with another baby on the way and the end. It just seemed so extremely rushed and like you were running out of ideas or issues to have with the characters. Pretty disappointed as I usually love all of your books and throughly enjoyed the beginning of the series that it had to end in this way.

Is the author mentally sick? Like seriously, because nothing can excuse the utter degradation that keeps happening to the fmc because of the mmc and her moving on and having sex with the said shit stain mmc. I have never felt so disgusted and hate for an author until now. This loathsome author really despises strong females. At this point this garbage cannot be excused as fiction, when it really hides the mentality that forgive your abusers. Shame on the author. I started to actually feel nauseous, with the intimate crap and pushing of the chemistry between the fmc and mmc. No just no!!!!! You want the mmc to be a part of the shit revenge, make it from far away, acceptably from a different planet than the fmc. Hell this series was so bad that nothing, nothing could ever make it even a teeny tiny bit better, though I wished that Dimitri died a painful, humiliating, emasculating death. Shame on the pitiful pathetic author and shame on the people who would even minutely like a series, a story like this. This series needs to be a crime, a legit crime. There could be nothing worse than this series for sure. This book deserves ratings in negatives, and even that won't be enough to express how bad, how utterly disgusting this garbage is.

I js want to ask God what was i acc thinking when i started this series. like what acc possessed me to read this bs. and even after the ai claims i continued to read cuz i thought OMG i need to know everything. Like im not even gonna lie but the cruel deception series rlly got me hooked in and i was so impressed by that series. like i js stayed up until 12 in the night to read that series and it made me cry so goddamn much i can still remember it. but this series specifically NEVER made me even tear up for one second and i still decided to read like i hate my curiosity to win over me but overall the potrayal of a plus sized heroine in this book is heavily discriminatory and it felt sometimes that the writer didn't do enough research and it's heavily evident. Honestly that's okay but I rlly had huge expectations from this book.

The first 2 books I was really into them wanted to know what happened next, the 3rd book, was annoying why would dimitri choose seraphina over pen when he doesn’t even like her, next joke and then after only a year her son doesn’t even recognise her. Shut up. And what’s with all the secrets just tell them and get it over with why wait so long, does not need to be dragged out like this

Just to much makes it fake

Spoilers

All the books is like what can we do to humiliate, abuse and just so over the top.

I mean every book you grape her, you shoo
t her, make her a slave and just a doormat.

And really, she loves him after all this, please

Really he does recognize her because she lost weight, after only five years.

I can’t be the only one that loved every single part of this series right? Because I was hooked, obsessed, the cliffhangers at the end of every book? Man I was addicted to the suspense. This one wrapped it up nicely, I started off the first book fully hating Dmitri and by this on? The amount of sympathy I had for this absolute red flag is unreal. Yeah, this was great 😮‍💨🖤

Well I’ll be damned, of course the last book was the absolute best out of the series.

I actually felt really bad for Dmitri and wanted him to succeed in winning Penelope back. Man had me in tears as some points in this book.

smh

With the book only having 15 chapters I feel like all of this could have been in the second book. All the details and everything I feel like should have been in in book 2. I didn’t really care for the 3rd book

What a ride this series was

I’m definitely glad I read all four books. The plots and stories were sad, painful, powerful, and beautiful all at once. Absolutely fantastic read!
