Rate this book
Enemies. Fated mates. Same difference.

When Princess Liora discovers a magic mirror in her palace, she never expects to see her fated mate staring back—Crown Prince Callum of the enemy kingdom. The fifty-year war between their nations makes love impossible.

And the fated bond, that will kill them if they refuse, makes denial deadly.

The solution? Swap lives through mirror magic. For three months, she'll be him and he'll be her.

She'll command his armies. He'll survive her viper's court. They'll fall in love through nightly mirror meetings. And together, they'll discover the war was never about them—an ancient evil has been manipulating both kingdoms, hell bent on their destruction, because their war weakens the seal of his prison.

To save their realms, they must first walk in each other's shoes. To survive, they must choose each other over everything. And that is just the beginning...

Wow Susan Faw does it again, with yet another very thrilling epic fantasy series about fated mates, and the willingness to do all they could and more to bring peace to their war torn kingdoms. Princess Iloria of Valdris comes upon a magical ancient mirror in the dungeons of her palace and as she looks into it instead of seeing her reflection she sees that of Callum, the king of Glenmara, her arch enemy. As they look at one another they feel the pull towards each other and know they are fated mates. They are offered a chance to do a body swap for three months, to take each other's place, to learn all about each other's people and kingdoms, in order to stop a fifty year ongoing war. They agree and start taking over each other's roles, people notice they are somehow different but none can explain such deep magic. They both have to face traitors who want to see them killed, who are against a peace treaty as they themselves profit from the ongoing war, however they also have allies on both sides supporting their peace efforts. But they also find out that behind the human traitors there is an even greater evil who profits from battles and strife, and this evil is an ancient sorcerer known as the shadow king, whom Merlin had sealed in an underground place with a magical seal which was now breaking. He wanted war to go on, so he could be free to wreak havoc on the world, but Iloria and Callum were ready to do all in their power to stop him, and they would do this through their great love for one another, a love which grew the closer they worked together, and it was this togetherness in love which would defeat the shadow king, and bring about the longed for peace. This is an amazing book, the idea of the body swaps is incredible, the way it was handled is great, as is Arden the sorcerer who aided and guided them on this three month trial which ended on the summer solstice. This is a book which I would recommend to all who love enemies to lovers, fated mates, strong magic and magical artifacts, honour, resilience and great slow burn romance and a clock ticking in the background.

I have been really lucky lately. I have read 3 books on the trot that I absolutely fell in love with. This one is THE best. It has everything going for it. I absolutely loved the journey not just the ending. It's a love story with a twist. Tons of magic involved but I guarantee it will keep you on the edge of your seat.

No spoilers but you don't want to miss this it phenomenal.
