In true Amo Jones fashion it was IMPOSSIBLE to put this down once I started it- a total chokehold! The main characters, Melissa and Hella, have explosive chemistry and a story that has so much intensity and depth that I can’t wait for everyone to experience it. Amo explores dark themes and mind blowing twists of tragic events that will make you cry, gasp and swoon at any given moment. The development of the characters and the fantastic storytelling is everything we love about a well written dark romance.
Tropes that I devoured in this book any why-
🏍️ MC Romance- a brotherhood of “found family” and protectiveness that comes off the page like an action movie 🔥
🤭 Enemies to Lovers- HOT and Toxic 🥵 These two made each other absolutely crazy for each other!
🖤 Strong heroine- the strength of Melissa was a pivotal part of this story. She has been through a lot but she remains a no-nonsense character who isn’t afraid to speak her mind and protect her own.
🫠 Touch her and ☠️ MMC- Hella is unapologetic and scary AF throughout every chapter of this book but only Amo has the ability to make you fall in love with this kind of crazy 😉.

Let’s face it: I will always be in my motorcycle club era. Because brotherhood, bad boys, and bikes, amirite?!? So I must bow to Author Amo Jones for returning to her MC roots and concocting my obsession. My Sweet Cyanide had me in the biggest chokehold! I reveled in the darkness and depravity. Pure heart-pounding addiction!
Jones has revamped her OG Devils Own series into the Dark Outlaw series, the same world with even more powerful and penetrating writing. My Sweet Cyanide stars bakery owner, Melissa, and MC VP Hella, soulmates tethered by broken pasts and a palpable pull. These characters fight hard, play hard, and LOVE hard.
I couldn’t love and admire Hella and Melissa enough—both trauma survivors who define resilience and strength in spades. Though I must pause to confess my cover-to-cover Hella crush. Give me the hot, unhinged hero with the hidden heart every darn day. A thousand times YES!!!
Hella and Melissa continue to live their best lives … rent-free in my head and heart. My Sweet Cyanide was everything I wanted and needed in an MC romance. Raw, gritty, dark, bold, and oh so heartbreakingly beautiful. Well done, Ms. Jones. Hella amazing! 👏

He isn’t a gentle man and exactly what Melissa should stay clear of but they can’t seem to stay away from one another or fight either. Can these two stubborn people find a way to work? Originally book one in the Hellraiser MC series, now updated with new material and a different reading order. Please check any TW’s as there is a on page NC scene but not with the MC. This is also a very gritty MC romance and has OW/OM but they really aren’t together until after 50% plus there is one whooper of a twist. I enjoyed this a little more towards the twist being revealed. Get ready for a look inside what you think happens in a real MC not just a romance book one. Told in first person and dual POV.

One of the things I love about reading Amo Jones's books is the angst and twists in the story, and My Sweet Cyanide did not let me down. My Sweet Cyanide is a re-edited version of the book Hellraiser from the Devil’s Own series. I will admit that the series had been on my radar for some time, but when I heard the rewrite was coming, I held off reading, deciding to wait for the refreshed version. And I am so glad I did!
Melissa and Hella’s story held me captivated by the back-and-forth between them. Admittedly, I was hooked as soon as I read the gut-wrenching prologue. My Sweet Cyanide is a dark romance, and anyone with triggers would do well to check the trigger list before reading. Both Melissa and Hella had their past demons to work through and sky-high walls, but you could not deny the chemistry between them.
If you are looking for a dark, twisted MC romance, I highly recommend My Sweet Cyanide, which I rate 4.5 / 5 stars. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

My favorite biker couple is back and they did not come to play. I don’t care what anyone says, Amo Jones absolutely ate with this MC romance. Dark, gritty, addictive, and dripping in tension, this story had me hooked from start to finish. Some things has changed, but it’s so much more everything feels turned up ,more intensity, more emotion, more edge and Melissa and Hella relationship is toxic as ever ! I devoured every page and was left completely feral by the end. A flawless five-star read and easily one of my all-time favorites. 🔥🏍️💣

I’ve read 22 of Amo Jones’ books, and My Sweet Cyanide might be one of the best ones she’s ever written. I finished it in a single day because it swallowed me whole. I couldn’t look away. I didn’t want to look away. I had to follow this story to whatever twisted depths it was headed—and it went far darker than I expected.
Every time you think you’ve found your footing, Amo detonates another bomb. And then another. And then another. Reality fractures, theories shatter, and you’re left clinging to the pages like they’re the only stable thing in the room.
The storyline with her sister owned me. Completely. And without crossing into spoilers… when everything unraveled near the end, I wasn’t just shocked—I was feral. I was whispering, screaming, pacing, asking the universe what the hell I’d just witnessed. And then that phone call? That final hit? It was lethal. I need more. I need answers. I need the next descent.
Amo Jones doesn’t just write dark. She writes destruction—and My Sweet Cyanide is one of my favorites.

Hella - is the guy who will put you through the ringer and you’re still coming back for more.
He takes no prisoners, doesn’t double dip, and yet the inexplicable pull he feels is both exciting and terrifying all at once.
Just when you think you have him figured out; he will pull the rug from underneath you. Leaving you a panting mess.
Melissa on the other hand, has secrets of her own, and a past perhaps rivalling his own.
Their story is toxic, dark and unpredictable, but totally worth the whirlwind of emotions!
I couldn’t put this down, it easily became my new Amo Jones favorite.

I love Amo’s writing so much and her brand of you will be so confused for most of the book but then things will start clicking as you keep reading. ITS THE BEST READING EXPERIENCE IF YOU ASK ME!!
It was actually really cool because years ago I read the first version of this story but this version OMG ITS EVEN BETTER!! So if you are like me and read Hellraiser then you NEED to read this one!!
Also I can’t wait for Millie’s story!!

One of my favorite ‘go-to’ authors is Amo Jones, so when I heard that she was taking Hella and Melissa from their original book, ‘Hellraiser’, into a more fleshed out storyline in My Sweet Cyanide, I said ‘Hello, yes please’! Best decision ever, Amo Jones!!
Huxley ‘Hella’ Ward is the VP of the Woodsmen Motorcycle Club. His best friend is the Pres, Beast. Hella and Beast have been friends for a long time since they were fourteen years old and causing all sorts of havoc. There is nothing sweet, innocent, or loving about him. He is the guy that will wear at you like a thorn in the side. He is 100% unapologetically an a-hole who doesn’t double dip where he’s been and couldn’t give a flying puck about rubbing someone the wrong way. Hella is Hella, take it or leave it.
Melissa Hart is currently a bakery owner and is living her life trying to make it a success. Melissa also has a past that she is trying to put in her rearview mirror yet is coming back to biting her full force. Amo had me 100% invested after reading the prologue. Whoa!

Let me start by saying it’s Amo so of course I ate this up!! I read the original series and I didn’t realize I could love these two even more!! The angst between them at the beginning 😮💨😮💨🫠. Ohhhh and the spice with Hella and Melissa is HOT!! 🥵 Amo has a way with words and she has a way of making you feel every emotion while reading her books. The way I kicked my feet and giggled one moment and was wanting to throw my kindle the next. Hella was 1000% percent certain he didn’t want an old lady, until he met Melissa. The way these two fought the inevitable 👊🏼👊🏼 I’m as much obsessed with the other characters in the book. I’m so ready for the rest of this series. Buckle the fuck up!! This series starts with a bang and knowing Amo, it is only going to get better…..and darker.

My first book by Amo Jones and definitely not my last. I have waited what feels like an eternity for an MC book that scratches my SoA itch and My Sweet Cyanide has done that in spades. Perfectly blending complex characters and their individual traumas into what is one of my favourite stories of the year. Words cannot express how much I love Hella, the latest in a long line of book boyfriends, he ticks all my morally grey boxes in the most delicious way. His and Melissa's story is one that will be carried within me since it touched that deep.

Amo. I truly don’t think there will be a time when I will be prepared or over your insane plot twists. I feel like no matter how much I think I know what’s coming I am completely side swiped and proven so so wrong. Hella and Melissa were an immediate grab for me. I was instantly invested in both characters, their histories and where their story was going to take us. I was so impatient with them I needed to know everything…IMMEDIATELY. Their chemistry and tension FLEW off the page and even though both of their pasts are riddled with tragedy, their constant pull to each other was undeniable. I am always the most welcomed mess after reading an Amo Jones book and I would GLADY let the dark mommy ruin me any day. 5/5 stars. I need more.

This started with such an unexpected opening that I actually put it down a few times. Once I finally picked it back up and pushed through… I loved it. I always expect depraved and twisted from Amo Jones, and this fell perfectly in line with that chaos. And Hella…yes, that’s the MMC’s name, while it’s random for me, the character himself is so damn good.

My Sweet Cyanide plunges readers into the wicked, chaotic realm that Amo Jones is known for. This story is a storm of danger, brutality, longing, and emotional wreckage, and it never once pulls back. The romance between Melissa and Hella is hella (see what I did there?) toxic, magnetic, and painfully raw, and it hits you hard in the gut in the best possible way.

I've not read the prior version of this book so I can't speak concretely on the improvements, but from what I understand there is a new plot order as well as new and enhanced content. If you've read Amo you should know to check the warnings...this one has her usual brand of darkness.
Overall, I enjoyed this. Felt like a good mixture of what I associate with OG Amo writing and her current point of view. It is wild and crazy. It is seductively dark. It is full of twists that stun and characters who bleed on the page...literally and emotionally. He has been built into in this ruthless fearless killing machine from the time he was merely a boy. The MC has been his escape from that nightmare but he cannot change who he is inside. Only now, he channels the energy to protecting his brothers. He is so cold hearted and so callous but is he really that kind of villain? We do get to see his softer underbelly. The way he fiercely protects the people he care about. The way he operates with his own moral compass and delivers justice. The way he opened his heart for a fierce damaged heart like Melissa. She is so resilient but she carries some heavy burden from her past. The MC is going through many challenges and the danger extends to everyone remotely related to it. Their chemistry is explosive but Melissa didn't appreciate Hella's crudeness and over bossing and overall abrasive personality. He wanted to keep it casual but he couldn't help but claim her. It was a battle of hearts. She won't let any man hurt her again but Hella makes her feel safe in a twisted way. It was insane. It was crazy. It was Amo Jones who always show beauty in her crooked characters.

If you didn't know, Amo has been re working 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐷𝑒𝑣𝑖𝑙𝑠 𝑂𝑤𝑛 𝑠𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑠 and My Sweet Cyanide is book one in the newly named 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐷𝑎𝑟𝑘 𝑂𝑢𝑡𝑙𝑎𝑤 𝐶𝑜𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛.
I admire that Melissa wants to heal herself before fully giving in. Collectively, they've had so much growth, both individually and together as a couple— especially given how much they've been through.
Hella reminds me of Brantley a bit, in the way that he has a lot of darkness hanging over him; everyone just knows not to f* with him. He is possessive, but softens for his girl only. And is definitely a top fave MC Amo has written thus far!
I loveee an MC Romance where that found family trope hits hard and I am so excited for the next installment in this series!!

The moment this book was first posted about I could not contain my excitement for it! It always makes me happy to pick up more of this author's work. I dived into The Dark Outlaw Collection world as soon as I could. I loved it!
Melissa and Hella's journey had me hooked! Hella is the VP of the Woodsmen MC and Melissa runs a bakery. As these two collide nothing will ever be the same for them.
I was all along for the ride with Melissa and Hella! As soon as these two met they had me glued to my kindle an diving into the darkness with them. From everything thrown their way and personal stuff to all that ignited between the two of them, I couldn't wait to see how it'd all play out for Hella and Melissa!
Melissa and Hella were both kick-butt characters and their strength shined. It was great to get all of their layers. Hella and Melissa had me on edge, blushing, and going through ALL of the emotions throughout! I loved their chemistry, their back and forth, the ways they got to each other, and the realness between these two. So many moments in Melissa and Hella's journey got to me and kept me on edge!

But the past has shaped and molded them into who they are in the present.
Melissa lives day to day trying to pretend all is well.
Hella lives day to day being nonchalant.
Until the day they can’t pretend or be nonchalant anymore.
Melissa is a warrior, a savior and her determination is astounding.
Her strength and resilience makes her courage and bravery shine through.
Hella is so much more than what meets the eye. To say he went through hell and back would be an understatement. His resolve to break free has turned him into a man of determination and getting things done.
These two together are absolutely explosive!
The energy that is between them comes to life off the pages.
It’s an entity in it of itself.
Everything with Hella and Melissa is off the charts.
Be it their conversations, their attitudes and the sexual tension between them.
They go to zero to full speed ahead.
It’s this intensity that had me gripping and captivated by them.

The twists were dangerous and delectable, but the real standouts for me were the side characters. Each one added so much depth that I couldn’t help imagining future pairings and wondering who might earn their own book next.

This book didn't flow for me
I understand that this book was a rewritten version of a previous story, so I was expecting great things. Well, it really wasn't that great. While other people raved in reviews, I have to be honest, if I knew so many loose ends were left I probably would have skipped this one.
Hella was part of a secret organization that trained operatives and killers. He and best friend Beast escape and find Beast's father who is president of an MC. So begins the next chapter of their new lives.
Melissa has a troubled past with the trauma of a sexual assault. She runs a bakery and is friends with another chapter of the MC.
That is how she meets Hella and has a one night stand. Melissa drinks too much and likes to use men basically before they can use her.
At first I didn't like either character. For adults their decisions were very juvenile and plain stupid. I warmed up a little as the book progressed. Characters were suddenly storming in the book so fast I scrambled to place them.
Listen, I love dark romance, but this book felt choppy and the ending rushed. You have Hella and Melissa together, then apart, kids thrown in, siblings showing up, then apart again, a kidnapping, then unresolved issues, no make up scenario, but a somewhat happy ending. Just didn't vibe.

this is the first book in the dark outlaw collection, originally published as hellrasier but now has a complete makeover. this book was absolutely amazing. I couldn’t get enough of the banter and the angst. everything amo threw into this book had me coming back for more scraps. I’m officially reinvested in this world and it’s brand new makeover. I’m obsessed but that’s an understatement. I can’t wait for what comes next and I can’t wait to devour another amo jones book like it’s the air I breathe. this book is everything you didn’t know you needed. buckle up and enjoy the ride.

First I need to mention, that I haven't read this story while it was published as Hellraiser. So this re-written story is my first encounter.
My Sweet Cyanide is dark and unhinged. It gave me whiplashes while I went back and forth between loving and hating Hella and Melissa. Amo Jones for sure knows how to write her controversial characters and how to test my limits.
And while I was totally invested in the world of the Dark Outlaw series I have some issues with this book that prevent me from giving it a higher rating.
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like I encountered some inconsistencies in the story. Some time jumps that didn't make sense to me. Sometimes it felt like information was missing. Sometimes information drops while never hinted at or mentioned before. That made my reading experience a bit bumpy.
The end was... I don't know. Rushed might be the wrong word. It feels more incomplete. We spent so much time with Hella and Melissa being too stubborn to figure things out and then BAM, they are the happy couple. I miss the part where they actually figure things out.
It's not my favourite book written by Amo Jones, but she caught me in the web of this world and I for sure want to know where this all is leading to. So, I'm ready to continue this journey!

Amo just did it again. If you read this story in its original version, you know she made some changes, polished it to be its best version, and I fell in love again. It has the same Amo vibe, iykyk.
I literally ate it up. One of the biggest changes is that this series starts with a different couple than it did before, so I'm really excited to see what comes next because I know she will twist and turn it to be the best.
I loved the characters, the different dynamic between each of them, and it's so exciting to see them shine again after years. As we all know, MCs can be a little rough around the edges, but seeing Hux with a kid, any kid, just made my ovaries do a happy dance. This book does not contain such dark elements, which I like that the author kept that way. It's still not a rainbow and sunshine kind of read, but I think it's a great start if you're new to dark romance.
The main storyline is so freaking good, and we just got to another twist right before the end, so I'm eager to read the next book as soon as possible. I got the same feels as when I first read it, but it still feels like the first time, if you know what I mean.
If you like MC romances with dark secrets and mind-blowing twists, this is the perfect book for you.
