Me About You

Rate this book
He’s her childhood rival.
She’s his childhood crush.

For Sutton Davis, there are two things she’s always wanted—dreamed of. After a life-altering, career-ending injury leaves her dreams of Team USA and playing professional hockey in the dust, Sutton is left questioning what’s next and who she is.

As Sutton stitches together a new dream of becoming a sports psychologist, she never expected it to rely on the one person she cannot seem to stand.

Cooper Carmichael is no different, questioning if hockey is for him. Plagued by the expectations of being captain of the Lakeland Bears and pressure to live up to his legendary last name, he’s falling out of love with the sport. Cooper uses overtraining and his sunshine disposition to mask his burnout till his Coach notices and volunteers him to work with a budding sports psychology student.

Helping Cooper fall in love with hockey again has Sutton second-guessing why she blames him for what happened to her and questioning her other being loved, but more importantly, being loved by him.

Now needing each other, Sutton and Cooper must figure out how to skate around their decades-long past—a history marked by more animosity and yearning than friendliness because Cooper is holding on to more than one secret. And this one could change everything between them.

Me About You is a spicy second chance friendship, rivals-to-lovers sports college romance.

Thank you so much to Hannah Hamrick and Love Notes PR for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Update (11/25/25): Happy publishing day to Me About You!

"No, Cooper. What does it mean to be yours?"
Oh.
It means that you're the only girl I've ever loved or wanted.

I tried. I really tried to love this, but I don't think I have it in me to give this more than 3 stars, and I honestly feel like that's me being generous because I'm in a good mood. Prepare for a rant review ahead, because there's a lot to unpack.

Sutton Davis, after suffering a major injury that left her unable to play hockey, has turned to focusing on getting her university to approve her independent study so she can officially become a sports psychology major. When the school approves her independent study, she has to be paired up with a student athlete struggling with anxiety and/or depression to do a case study on throughout the semester. The student she's paired up with is none other than Cooper Carmichael, her childhood best friend turned sworn enemy for life, after a major falling out they had in high school. Unlike Sutton, however, Cooper doesn't see her as an enemy- he just sees her as the one thing he can never have as he nurses an unrequited crush on her. The two strike a deal: Cooper helps Sutton with her case study, and in return, he'll help her flirt and get back on the dating scene to get the guy she has a crush on.

One of the things I loved about this story the most was the fact that the college setting actually seemed realistic. Sutton and Cooper run in the same friend circles, so their friend group is just one giant dysfunctional family that gives all the major found family vibes I love in any friend group in a story. From stories about food poisoning from the cafeteria, to staying up late to study or rushing to get to class on time, I think it was nice to see a more realistic depiction of college students in a story rather than just the social/partying aspects of college life that is so integral to a full-fledged college experience in the US. We see this with Sutton trying to get a sports psychology internship, Cooper trying to make it big in the NHL after his student athlete days are done, and Sutton's best friend and roommate, Elliot, trying to land a major job as a spin class instructor. Sure, there's a few party scenes here and there, but it's not the major focus of the plot or the story, which I thought was refreshing compared to some of the other college romance stories I've read recently.

Of course, I also have to mention the mental health rep in the story. I think the story touches upon the fact that everyone can be affected by mental health issues, even males. I feel like, as a society, we've been taught to see men as a group of people who can't possibly suffer from anxiety or depression because they're meant to be strong and confident, and nothing could EVER possibly go wrong in their lives. I think this story brings not only mental health awareness to the table for discussion, but also the idea that everyone can go through something behind closed doors and is sometimes just really good at hiding it. Check in on your loved ones, everyone!

Now, getting into the characters, because whew, there's a lot to unpack here:

₊✩‧₊ Sutton: I have mixed feelings about Sutton. On one hand, I admire her strong personality and her resilience as she fights to get her sports psychology major recognized at the school and get her case study done so she can graduate, while also tackling PT and recovering from her hockey injury. However, I feel like she treated Cooper like absolute dogwater at times by stringing both him AND the guy she has a crush on in the story along. Like, for a psychology student, you'd think she'd have a little more empathy about Cooper and his situation, which I'll get to in a bit.

Listen, I LOVE a messy, dramatic relationship in a book from time to time. Hell, just look at The Favorites for example- that was the messiest book I've probably ever read, and it was one of only six books I've read this entire year that I've given five stars. I love the angst, the push and pull, and the will-they, won't-they dynamic that often comes along with former friends-to-enemies-to-lovers relationships in stories. However, I feel like the falling out that Sutton had with Cooper resulted in her harboring a lot of hate for him inside of her, and she used that to mess with his feelings and his head while already knowing that he struggles with anxiety (considering he was paired up with her to do her case study in the first place). I don't think she did it intentionally, but the way Cooper would just pour his heart out to her and she knew how he felt...I don't know, I just don't think that was very cash money of her.

This leads me to one of my biggest gripes in the story: the falling out they had back in high school that kicked all of this off. I felt like that was the pettiest, most horrible thing to hold a grudge over. Like, yes, they were teenagers, and yes, what happened was mean and shouldn't have happened, but honestly, I don't even remember most of the drama that happened at my high school, and I graduated from high school almost a decade ago. First off, the story took WAY too long to get to the context as to why they had the falling out in the first place. I was just constantly reading and waiting for the story to get to the point, and when it finally did, I was like, "......okay, that took WAY too long." In my opinion, it could've been explained a lot earlier on in the story so that readers aren't left in the dark for hundreds and hundreds of pages. Second of all, the entire situation could've been rectified if Sutton and Cooper had actually talked things out. I HATE a miscommunication trope, and the entire falling out was essentially that.

₊✩‧₊ Cooper: Cooper needs to see an actual therapist. I feel so bad for him, considering he has a lot on his plate: trying to get into the NHL, graduating, passing classes, working with Sutton to help her get her case study done, and probably worst of all, living in the shadow of his father, who hold multiple records at his university for the hockey team and also making it to the NHL. He's been compared to his father his entire life, and I can only imagine the pressure and the weight of the world on his shoulders as he deals with that.

With that being said, as much as I feel for him and how Sutton treats him throughout the story, I'm also a little confused as to why he reacts the way he does at times when Sutton says she had a successful date or whatever the case may be. Like, he KNEW by volunteering to be her dating coach that she would go off on dates with guys, but he just sits there and stews in his own misery and jealousy the entire time to the point where he sometimes takes it out on Sutton, too? I don't know, their entire dynamic just felt very toxic at times to me because Sutton is moreso doing it to get back at Cooper for what he did to her in high school and I feel like she knew subconsciously that he had a crush on her after all these years so it's sort of twisting the proverbial knife in his gut a little bit.

In terms of the plot itself, I felt like I was just dropped into the middle of the forest with no map, no flashlight, no compass, and no other survival tools. I felt like the plot was all over the place, and the pacing was off at times. At some point in the story, I felt like the story started to stray away from the main purpose why Sutton and Cooper are working together in the first place, which was mainly for Sutton's case study, and started to focus on them and their extremely messy, borderline toxic, relationship with each other. I would've loved to see more scenes of Sutton and Cooper working on her case study rather than us just hearing Cooper talk about how working with her has improved his mental health, and we just have to take his word for it. It's sort of like the story lost its own plot halfway through, and we just suddenly stopped hearing about her case study and how it was going.

Additionally, I feel like we were introduced to so many of their friends/side characters in the story so fast in the beginning that I found it difficult at times to keep track of who was who, especially since they were all introduced with little to no introduction or context. Their friend group is relatively large, consisting of Cooper's three other roommates, Elliot, and, on occasion, Cooper's younger sister, Jordan, will also make an appearance. I honestly couldn't even tell you Cooper's roommate's names (who are also all on his hockey team) vs. who's ONLY on his hockey team. I'm sure we got introduced to most of the hockey team at various points throughout the story, but I honestly couldn't keep track of all of them. I know that's a me problem vs. a plot issue, but I probably should've written a list down of who was who at some point while reading.

Overall, if you're looking for a college sports romance with lots of mental health rep, this is the book for you! I wouldn't go as far as to say that I WOULDN'T recommend this book to anyone, but I think this book will find the right audience if you're in the mood for it specifically and don't mind reading about a messy relationship. I'm curious to see where this series goes next (Elliot's book, maybe?), so I'll be picking up the second book whenever it comes out!
Trigger/content warnings (these were all provided at the beginning of the book!): explicit language, explicit sexual content (probably a 1.5-1.75/5 on the spice scale for me in my opinion, but obviously, this is subjective for everyone and their personal comfort level with spice in books), alcohol consumption, on-page anxiety attack, recollection of an off-page injury, mentions of infertility (off-page and doesn't involve either of the MCs), references to adoption

⋆˙⟡ 𝒫𝓇𝑒-𝓇𝑒𝒶𝒹: As some of you already know, I love supporting indie authors when I can! This is my first book by Hannah Hamrick, and I'm so excited to dive into this. There's mental health rep, it's a hockey romance, that pretty much checks off most of my boxes in what I love in a book and it's enough for me to request it, so the little scream I let out when I got the approval email from Love Notes PR says a lot about how excited I am to read this haha.💜🏒

⭐ ARC Review + honest thoughts ⭐
Thank you so much to lovenotespr for the ARC!!

2 stars!

Okay… this one is complicated for me. I went into it excited because I love a good hockey romance, and the beginning genuinely had such fun energy. The hockey atmosphere, the friend group vibe, the banter, Dawson and Beck (I fell in love with Beck immediately — please give him a book next). The mmc’s family was lovely too, and he had some really sweet moments. The chicken soup scene? Adorable. He was easily the strongest part of the book.

But overall, this story didn’t fully work for me — especially at 446 pages, which felt extremely long for this type of romance. My ADHD brain was fighting for its life near the middle because the pacing slowed down a lot. I was stuck at 70% for what felt like forever, and it wasn’t even because I put the book down… I was literally swiping and nothing was moving.

A big struggle for me was the relationship dynamic. It was very on-and-off, constantly back and forth, and after a while it took me out of the story. I really liked the mmc.

He’s loved her since they were young, he flirts with her, he looks out for her, he teaches her how to date and communicate — but the fmc was hard for me to connect with. She felt defensive from the start, without ever trying to understand what actually happened between them in the past. She never questioned the childhood rumor, never talked to him, never tried to figure out the truth even though he’s been pursuing her for years. That made it really difficult to root for them when so much miscommunication could’ve been solved if one conversation happened earlier.

I also struggled with the writing style. Some sentences felt unfinished or jumbled, and there were lines I genuinely couldn’t understand because they didn’t fully make sense. I’ll probably include an example in my review notes, just because it kept happening enough that I noticed it.

“She might see me as her rival because of it, but she could never be mine-that you secretly have a crush on, on a fake date to teach her how to date. No internet searches help either.”

Toward the end, the book started introducing more and more side-plot elements. Especially with the guys and the book club — and while it was fun, it felt like it pulled focus from the main romance. The book club vibe (and even some character/plot details, like the FMC’s ginger hair and the MMC’s dark hair + the dating “lessons”) reminded me a bit of Chelsea Cruto’s Face Off and her DC Stars series. Not in a copying way — just a similar energy that stood out to me! So if you love that series you’d definitely love this book!!

The third act also felt a little rushed for how long the book is. The big conversation about who actually spread the rumor comes way too late in my opinion — that should’ve happened 30, 50, 100 pages earlier. And the epilogue…

SPOILERS: the pregnancy came out of nowhere. It didn’t fully make sense for where their relationship had been emotionally.

But I want to be clear: I’m really grateful to have received this ARC. I think a lot of readers will enjoy this book!! Especially those who love long, detailed romances with big friend groups and lots of added storylines. There were things I enjoyed, especially the mmc, the team dynamic, and Beck (my favourite). And the atmosphere in the beginning was really fun.

This one just wasn’t fully for me personally, and there were things I wish were handled a little more directly or simply. But I’m still excited to see Beck’s book in the future!

📚 Book 1 in the interconnected Standalone Series "Lakeland Bears"
🏒 Hockey Romance
🖤 M/F

I was a little conflicted by this book. While I do appreciate the mental health rep for men [as we all know its much needed], I felt like the message of the book and the actions of the FMC didnt align. Then there was the miscommunication trope, which if you know me...You all know that its my archenemy. The miscommunication trope throws me over the edge, cause its always over the stupidest shit and could have easily just been talked through and handled but nooooooo we gotta make it their whole personality. This was no different unfortunately. Basically, this book left me conflicted as I previously mentioned, it wasnt a bad book but things about it killed my vibe and frustrated me.

Tropes:
🥰 Childhood Rivals x Childhood Crush
🏒 Hockey Player x Psych Student
📚 College Romance

Sutton grew up with Cooper but he is the reason she doesn’t play hockey anymore. He gets to do the thing they love and she had to find a new path. She can’t stand him but he can’t stand to be without her.

This was a cute story but I did have trouble finishing it. I truly believe it was me. A wrong time to read type of situation. You know the “if I read this book at another time, I would enjoy it more” type of thing. Like this book wasn’t bad, but I did struggle with it, but I can acknowledge that it was a good.

I say you read it and give it a shot because I think it was me that was the issue.

First I’d like to thank love notes and Hannah Hamric for the opportunity to read an ARC of Me abt you🩷🩷

Overall this book was such a cute read and really spotlighted men’s mental health which is something I’m a FIRM believer on, it was a well written book that kept me entertained and engaged! I loved the friend groups that came along with both MC! 🩷
I loved seeing the bond between the two MC regroup and see the bond they shared. You could really tell they both cared about one another.
I can’t lie during some scenes my attention wasn’t captured and sometimes I was confused, however that doesn’t effect my rating because of how this book turned out and how it ended (I teared up)🩷

ARC review
This book was cute, very typical hockey romance tropes but there was added things that made it a bit different (anxiety/stress in the MMC) that I enjoyed but it definitely seemed to be a subplot that was kind of forgotten as the book went on. I enjoyed the book though!

When both of them are hockey players - Sutton & Cooper. ♥

When he knew that she couldn't play anymore, he combined their numbers together, as if he is playing with her. 🥹

Cooper was a total walking green flag with a heart made of gold. ✨ I enjoyed reading his POV because of how golden he was throughout the book. He was always looking after her, making sure she was okay. I loved the jealousy scenes.

I just think that the reason behind their fallout was unnecessary. And that it took them longer than it should to rekindle their relationship because they were best friends. They're family gets along very well. I also loved how Sutton emphasized her relationship with her parents and sister.

I gave this book 3.75 because I believe this book could have been so much more but it's okay for what it is.

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ,5
Tension : ❤️‍🔥 ❤️‍🔥 ❤️‍🔥 ❤️‍🔥
Spice : 🌶️🌶️
One word : tension

Plot :
Sutton and Cooper have known each other since Sutton’s adoption when they were 6. Their families are best friends, with very healthy relationships and amazing communication. The two of them grew up playing hockey, until Sutton’s accident on the ice, following some rumors going on about her at their high school. Believing Cooper is the one responsible for it, and therefore crushing her dream of playing professionally.
Fast forward to junior year of college, Cooper is a burnt-out hockey captain, and Sutton a student in dire need of a study case for a psychology independent study. She hates him, yet discovers she still cares and wants to help him. All the while, he’s still « pathetically in love » with her (his words), to the point of helping her date because she can’t do so to save her life. But all of this would be so much easier if they weren’t also a part of the same friend group, and Sutton could stop crushing on the baseball player Zach and notice Coop instead. (Side note: Zach is actually a really decent guy, I kinda ship them)
They will both learn to let their guard down, talk things through, and finally let the truth about their feelings come out. All the while letting go of the weight of expectations, legacy, and grudges.

Special mentions to :
- ✨️BECKETT✨️ loml
- Aglets and pineapples
- The jersey number(s) and the bracelet 🥰
- The guys' bromance 🤭
- « be happy like that with me », « I’m making myself an option » ❤️‍🩹
- Cooper being jelly-jealouuus (this one deserves to be on its own !) 😈
- Cooper actively trying to stay in Sutton’s orbit, Cooper hurting from her hating him, Cooper making her tea and soup and taking care of her sick, Cooper being a flirt
- Sutton seeing Cooper
- Not afraid of loving her in public, yes king ! 💚
- The helping-her-get-dressed-before-the-practice-date scene, the after-party-late-night-drive scene, the post-game/tub scene, the crawls-to-her-wearing-his-jersey scene 🥵🥵
- Will rather her hating him than her losing what she always wished for 🥹

My opinion :
I really enjoyed Me About You and the vulnerability that Cooper demonstrates. I believe he’s the one with the most visible growth, while Sutton seems to stall a little more. Proof in her being certain, twice, of Cooper's malicious intent, seemingly oblivious to the unconditional love he has for her. But still, they have real good chemistry and banter, and that’s all I’m asking for.
Hannah writes excellent, easy-to-read books and has a real gift for building a whole social world surrounding her MMCs. She takes you on a journey full of many characters, all developing their own stories within the main one, making you wish you could already get to their books.
Which brings me to…

My theories, and let me tell you I had MANY of them throughout the book :
(potential spoilers ahead)

Excerpts :
« I hate myself for hurting her, over and over. The more I try to stay in her atmosphere, the further away I feel. » 🥹
« Being Cooper’s friend was like being picked first for recess kickball every single second. »
« “[…] Count this as a bonus lesson tonight. Most guys won’t remember what you wear.” Sutton was wearing denim shorts with a strawberry print and a white T-shirt the first time we met. Her Velcro shoes lit up, and she was wearing white socks with a frill, as she still does today. » 🫳🎤
« Truthfully, I’m flying by the seat of my pants with this date because believe it or not, there isn’t a guide on how to take your childhood rival […] that you secretly have a crush on, on a fake date to teach her how to date. No internet searches help either. » lmao
« I don’t just want her to be mine. I want to be hers, maybe even more than the opposite. »
« Having you hating me was easier than you feeling nothing for me. You thought I was competing with you, but I was only desperate for any attention from you. » We love a pathetically in love man !

Tropes :
- Childhood friends turned rivals to lovers
- College hockey romance
- Mental health rep (anxiety, panic attacks)
- Dating lessons
- Found family
- She washes his hair
- 5’9" FMC x 6’1" MMC
- « Won’t settle for less » FMC
- « Down baaad » MMC
- Obvious MMC x Oblivious FMC
- Words of affirmation and physical touch

- First book in the Lakeland Bears series
- Stand-alone

First of I would love to say thank you to Love Notes PR and Hannah Hamrick for the opportunity to read an Arc Copy.

Premise:

We start off with meeting the FMC, Sutton, suffered a tragic injury five years prior stealing her hockey career out from under her. It is not just a sport for her but her identity and her whole world. Leaving her with confused, uncertain and missing a piece herself.

We then meet our MMC, Cooper, captain of the NHL team and overall golden boy. Hockey is his father’s passion so of course it has to be his as well, putting pressure on him and making him question whether he actually loves the sport and wants to continue playing. Due to this Cooper suffers from anxiety and is suffering with his mental health whilst somehow hiding his feelings and keeping a smile on his face.

We find out that Sutton and Cooper were once childhood besties turned enemies. But secretly Cooper harbours a life long crush on Sutton. Whilst Sutton blames Cooper for her injury and ultimately ending her future career in Hockey.

Of course they both attend the same college and somehow are brought back together to help each other heal. They navigate college life, stress and uncertainty together whilst this tension between them grows. It’s a romance you kind of route for especially for Cooper who has been yearning for Sutton for such a long time.

I am not going to lie, it did take me a while to get into the book and read it….which is unusual for me as I am a first reader. But it did start picking up towards the half way point. Don’t get me wrong I feel it was written well just feel a bit slow.

It is a very cute read and what I liked about it is that it de led into and highly men’s mental health and didn’t gloss over the subject.

I also liked its very character drives and does not always concentrate on the world building. You also get into a view into the minor characters, such as their friends and team mates instead of just solely focusing on the two main charts, which makes it seem that potential could be getting spin off books about them?

It’s a college hockey romance meets second chance trope, which I liked and haven’t read a lot of. Unlike other MMCs in hockey romance, Cooper is not overconfident and cocky and is actually quite sweet and thoughtful which I quote liked and felt stood out from other hockey romances and that jersey scene 🥹 that is what made me like Cooper.

The chemistry and tension between the characters is palpable and you can feel it as you are reading. I do like a childhood besties turned to enables to lovers trope and I feel the author done this very well and developed their relationship very well.

Overall I did enjoy this book and I liked how the author gave a good balance of character developed, building up to that romance but also delving into heavy topics such as mental health and healing. It was a nice blend and a really good read. I would recommend.

I have rated it a 3.8 but rounded up to 4 stars just because that it did take a while for me to get into it. But I did love how the author wrote Cooper and really promoted the topic of mental health in sports and men.

Arc Review - 10 ⭐️

Thank you soooo much love notes PR for the early copy.

gawds this book….
i had so much fun, so many emotions. so many times i was covering my mouth with my hand because i was swooning or laughing. the yearning? there! angst? had me on the floor. Cooper did not play about Sutton once. I love him bad.
my happy sunshines. literally so precious.

this story followed Cooper and Sutton estranged childhood friends of five years due to an incident that occurs in highschool and while Sutton has sworn him off despite being in the same friend group and attending the same college, Cooper has been jumping through all the hoops to stay in sutton life however way he can despite having his own issues.

i loved watching these two come together. i was enraptured the whole book. i love all the friends in the group and the family bits we got to see were so sweet i’m so happy this is a series.
it’s not often in a book that i see both characters come from loving homes with the best parents so that was a jake change *sob*

the mental health representation in this story is so amazing. it’s tender and delicate. and idk there’s just so much humanity going on. i love it all

i’m obsessed with literally all the boys in the group. Jaxon? my golden retriever tiktok king? Hilarious. Need his book yesterday. Him and Jordan are absolutely adorable.both of them dying their hair??? they’re so hot and buzzy i cannot. Chase? absolutely adorable my blushy lover boy. Beckett St. James……yeah i need him biblically. tattooed, brooding, doting older brother who has a soft spot for sister and team?? i can’t. so many cute details. Dawson was basically the mother hen. so cute and i loved how his nickname was captan nutrition. him and his bf are so cute 🥹

i loved all the friend scenes we got. you could really see the bond and how much these people all care for each other. this book gave me copious amounts of serotonin. there was so much heart. i’m tearing up just thinking about it. like crashing girls night and teaching the boys to apply face mask or speed dating as a group….so cute so cute inject it please…
dawson telling chase him and jaxon will film the lip sync battle with him even though it got cancelled :(

Maeve and Elliot are such good sisters / friends. Jordan is literally so cool with her blue hair. I’m so happy Sutton has such good friends and family around her.

while sutton and coopers situation was bittersweet…i couldn’t fault sutton once. i understood her all too well. my princess, im so happy you got your happy ending

also like the ice scenes we got were so hot. whoever said the touch him/her and die concept doesn’t work with hockey is lying to themselves these men do not play on the ice y’all 😭💓

Five years ago, Sutton Davis’ entire world crashed the second her injury stole hockey from her. Not just her sport — her identity. She survived, sure… but something in her stayed cracked. And honestly? You feel that ache from page one.

Meanwhile, Cooper Carmichael — golden boy, captain, NHL-legend’s son — is out here spiralling because he can’t tell if hockey is still his dream or just everyone else’s dream for him. The guy is carrying anxiety like it’s a full-time job. But he smiles through it because apparently he’s built like that.

And then life goes “lol guess what?” Because the person assigned to help Cooper figure out his feelings… is Sutton. His ex-best friend. His forever crush. The girl who blames him for literally everything, including the injury that ended her career.

Like yes, universe, let's throw them into forced proximity and see what happens.
(Spoiler: vibes. Tension. Chemistry that should be illegal.)

The romance? Peak college energy. They navigate real-life stress, confusion, messy emotions, and the “I hate you but also I’ve never stopped loving you” disaster in a way that feels so shockingly realistic. Sutton is a walking definition of grit — she took a future that fell apart and rebuilt something entirely new out of sheer determination. Watching her shine in a field she never planned to be in? Very main-character-coded.

Cooper… sweet, anxious, quietly-yearning Cooper. He fell first, he fell hardest, and he never really stopped. His anxiety storyline is handled with so much gentleness that it genuinely punched me in the feelings. The whole “there’s nothing wrong with you” message threaded through his chapters? Yeah, that lives rent-free in my heart now.

And don’t even get me started on the thoughtfulness this man possesses.
There’s one moment — involving his jersey number — that genuinely made me pause, clutch my heart, and whisper, “men in real life, please take notes.” The intention behind that gesture? The way he did it years ago with so much quiet love? I bow down to Cooper Carmichael. That level of devotion is rare, fictional or otherwise.

The chemistry between them is insane. They walk into a room, and the tension starts vibrating. Childhood-besties-turned-enemies-to-lovers? Absolutely, my Roman Empire. The secret Cooper’s been carrying makes everything hit even harder… in that messy, aching, beautifully complicated way.

This book is the perfect blend of rivals, longing, healing, found family, and romance that feels both cozy and real. Closed-door spice but still blushy enough to make you kick your feet. And the side characters?? Already obsessed. Jaxon and Becks, I’m looking at you.

Me About You 💜
Firstly,I want to thank LoveNotes PR & Hannah Hamrick for trusting me with this ARC!
Five years ago,Sutton's dream got shuttered after surving a major injury that left her not only heartbroken but also unable to play hockey ever again.
Cooper,is questioning if hockey is truly <> sport or just what world is expected him to play.
This confusion will lead to him taking sessions in order to figure out his feelings & wants. The only twist? The woman that is helping him is the ex bestfriend that blames him for everything, including why she cannot play her OWN sport.
Life will ironically play a huge trick on them, even will they use it on their favour or will just dissapear into nothingness again?

Unfortunately, this is was not the best reading experience for me,but at the same time not the worst.Let me explain:
Firstly,we have a REAL college romance. It was potrayed through the way they deal with every situation that presented itself. The emotions that they had & how navigated life & romantic relationship.I can assure you that it was the closest it could have been to reality.
Our main characters were really good as well!
Sutton,is such an admirable woman to my eyes. She managed to shine is a field that was not even in her plan & not only that but made it look like it is the easiest thing in the world! What a girl you are!✨
Connor,on the other side, was just a cutie pie,and I love how hard he had already fallen for Sutton even before our story started. As an individual,he dealt with a lot of stuff & I can say I AM SO PROUD of how he managed everything!
Continuing, the romance was wonderful! They had THE chemistry & tention every time they were in the same room.-those people could not keep their hands of eachother!
Now,going into my icks were that I can say that this book could have been 50 pages shorter.Meaning that some scenes were dragged a little too much!&I did not particulary liked the epilogue too!To be honest,I wanted to see those two thriving into life together and everything, but I wanted to see THEM and just them. However, this is totally my personal prefrence 💜
out on Nov,25th 🍪

Now, I don’t usually get straight to the point in my reviews like this, but it’s probably easier because I have no idea how to start this one. I’d give it 2.5 stars because it wasn’t bad! It just wasn’t anything to shout about.

What I liked:
- The hockey.
- Relatable mental health representation.
- That college experience was just chill and normal and not party, party, party.
- The MMC. Cooper! I loved his character. He was really funny and romantic.
- Disney World being mentioned a couple times, wahey 👑

What I didn’t like:

- The influx of random side characters that we were supposed to remember things about but in reality, I just skipped over them because it got too confusing.
- How poorly Cooper was treated at times. He needed serious therapy and a way better girlfriend. Sorry Sutton and Cooper shippers, I liked them better as friends— and for a romance book, that’s not *ideal.*
- The plot wasn’t fleshed out very much. I didn’t get the point of some of it. It felt as if some parts had been randomly placed in there a lot later than the rest of the story and didn’t flow very well.
- The FMC. Sutton. Hard to connect to or feel any kind of sympathy towards. I didn’t hate her, by all means she’s not the worst FMC I’ve red, but I couldn’t feel any sort of connection to her at all.
- The on and off ‘oh I love you’ and then ‘I hate you’. Grow up. Come on.

What I feel a bit iffy about: what WAS that epilogue? Pregnancy trope is not a favourite of mine and if any of the MCs have any, I prefer it to be off page (single dad sort of things) though as long as there’s not too much detail I can deal— however, it didn’t feel romantic or proper family-like at all. It felt stiff. ‘Oh we’re pregnant, woohoo!’ END BOOK. WHAT?

A good read but not really sure what I think about it. 😅

Me About You delivers a compelling college sports romance centered on the shifting, often fraught, relationship between childhood best friends Sutton and Cooper. Though they land at the same college after a high school falling out, Cooper has quietly held a candle for Sutton, a fact she is completely oblivious to. When Sutton needs a student athlete for an assignment, it's Cooper who decides to face his anxiety and work with her, which facilitates the forced proximity that throws them back into each other's orbits. He was even willing to be her dating coach just to be near her.
This book is catnip for fans of hockey romance, expertly blending the passion of the sport with intimate character development. The author successfully navigates a tricky dynamic—it’s not a true friends-to-lovers or enemies-to-lovers tale, but rather a nuanced journey from friendship to estrangement, back through uneasy truce, and finally toward romance.
The standout element here is Cooper. He is the epitome of the "consistent, caring, never-give-up" MMC, patiently devoted to the FMC. The supporting cast, including the other hockey players and friends, is fantastic and adds great depth to the college environment.
While the emotional core is strong, the one minor critique is a wish for Sutton to more fully overcome the past hurt inflicted by the character Izzy. Izzy's lingering influence felt disproportionately large given her brief presence, but this doesn't detract significantly from the main story's charm. If you are looking for a satisfying forced-proximity story featuring a steadfast, persistent hero who will stop at nothing for his girl, Me About You is a definite win. I can’t wait to see who’s going to star in the next book.

⤿〝 I was blind before Sutton. She was and still is the clarity, the start of me. “Before hockey, before all of it, it was you. It’s always been me about you, Sutton.”

! Thank you Love Notes PR and Hannah Hamrick for the copy and the opportunity to read the arc of this book !

⤷ AHHHH THIS BOOK HAS BEEN EVERYTHING. BUT ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. I have loved every moment and I have not been able to get it out of my head when I was not reading, I hope it receives the recognition it deserves because it is wonderful 🥹🥹🥹 it literally has everything and it has reminded me a lot of some of my favorite romance books (this one has also entered the category🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️)
characters .ᐟ

⋆˙⟡ Sutton Davis
I love her I love her, she is so everything, I have loved her way of being and handling things and the complex story behind her and how through her character it has been shown that a person can have ups and downs and move on. One of the best characters I've read this year 🥹🥹

I’m not positive that he understood a word I just spewed, but when I curiously peer over the lip of my glass at him he’s staring at me with a vintage Cooper Carmichael smile. Eyes starry and attention engrossed as if he’s hanging on to every word I say. I set my glass down. “What?” I ask incredulously. “Keep going.” He smiles bigger, and flips page to more of my notes.

⋆˙⟡ Cooper Caramichel
A MAN WHO YEARNS IS A MAN WHO EARNS. NEW BOYFRIEND AND BOOK HUSBAND UNLOCKED🗣️🗣️🗣️ I love him, I wish he could get out of the book and be my partner, you don't know how many times I've been jealous of Sutton 😔😔 He made me jump and blush more times than I can count 🤭🙂‍↕️. After him, my expectations in love have gone through the sky and more

I don’t know if I should be excited to see her. Probably not. At least I should pretend not to, but it’s the best part of my day. Sutton Davis is heading my way for once, not purposely avoiding me or pivoting to take the long way to wherever her destination

⭐️⭐️ARC Book Review⭐️⭐️

An emotional, slow-burn romance filled with childhood tension, buried feelings, and the kind of character growth that makes your heart ache in the best way.

Sutton has spent her whole life chasing one dream—playing hockey at the highest level. But after a devastating injury shatters her shot at Team USA and a professional career, she’s left rebuilding her identity from the ground up. Her new dream of becoming a sports psychologist is fragile, hopeful… and complicated by the one person she’s sworn to avoid: Cooper Carmichael.

Cooper, captain of the Lakeland Bears, carries the weight of a legendary hockey name and expectations he’s no longer sure he can live up to. His burnout runs deep, but he hides it behind charm and relentless training—until his coach pairs him with a budding sports psychology student who just happens to be the girl he’s secretly adored since childhood.

As Sutton works to help Cooper rediscover his love for hockey, old resentment starts to unravel, replaced by vulnerability, chemistry, and the realization that neither of them truly understood their past. Cooper’s long-held crush, Sutton’s buried hurt, and a secret big enough to change everything collide in a beautifully written exploration of identity, forgiveness, and falling in love with the person who’s always been there.

With its perfect blend of sports romance, emotional healing, and irresistible rivals-to-lovers tension, Me About You is a heartfelt story about two people learning to dream again—this time together.

First, I want to thank Love Notes and Hannah Hamrick for the chance to read an ARC of Me About You.

This book starts off strong, and overall, it was such a cute and engaging read. I especially appreciated the focus on mental health, which added real depth to the story. The banter and chemistry between the main characters were adorable, and watching their bond rebuild and grow stronger was one of my favorite parts.
I had mixed feelings about Sutton at times, but I genuinely admire her strength and resilience. She’s a fighter, balancing her sports psychology major, working on her case study, and managing PT while recovering from her hockey injury. Even when she made a few uncertain decisions, her determination and heart still stood out.
Cooper, meanwhile, is the definition of a man who yearns and a man who earns. You can’t help but feel for him as he tries to juggle everything: chasing the NHL, finishing school, passing classes, and living in the shadow of his dad,a former NHL player with multiple university records. The pressure he carries is so clear, and it made me appreciate the emphasis on mental health of "legacy child ". The found-family trope added such a warm touch, too.
The story kept me engaged, though I did feel the pacing slow down in the middle. At 446 pages, it felt a bit long for this type of romance, and there were moments where the plot paused for me. But even with that, my interest never wavers, because of how it started and ended .
A 4.5 star read for me..

This book almost had me. Almost.

I liked the characters. I liked their dynamics. I liked the romance. I was having a good time. And then the writing showed up and said: Not today!

And that’s the real tragedy here, because this could have been a favorite. Instead, the writing kept pulling me out of the story and stopped me from calling this an amazing read. Which is extra annoying, because now I want to continue the series, but I’m also kind of scared to.

If you liked Off-Campus, especially Garrett Graham and that whole chaotic friend group energy, this will probably work really well for you. The vibes are very similar. I do wish we’d seen more of the side characters, especially Cooper’s best friends, because they were clearly set up to be fun. Give me more of them, please.

The romance, though? That part ate. This is the kind of second-chance romance I love. The connection was there. The feelings were there. The love was very much there. It was just misunderstanding after misunderstanding, but in a way that actually made sense. They were both struggling, both growing, and you could feel that progress with every chapter. Chef’s kiss. No notes.

Now… the spice.
Yeah. No.
Some of the worst spice I’ve read, and it’s 100% a writing issue. It did absolutely nothing for me. I was bored. I was uncomfortable. I was wishing we’d just fade to black and move on.

So yeah, I liked this book. I would recommend it. But the writing really held it back.

Sutton and Cooper are childhood friends who experience a harsh falling out but when a college project for Sutton brings Cooper to her doorstep…can they put the past away and move forward?

Things I liked:
-the reality of mental health struggles for males and how hard it can be to discuss it
-the friend group dynamic - all super close and involved
-Sutton working on herself after having to give up hockey dreams and finding her new path
-the parents for both Sutton and Cooper being supportive when tough topics happened
-Women being a male dominated sport

Dislikes:
-the truth of their fallout taking so long to be revealed (even if it didn’t get resolved quickly, I wanted to full story sooner)
-Izzy. What a drag but I get a villain was needed
-the friends kept getting confused in my head so maybe one or two less playing a major role in the group

What to expect:
🥰 Childhood Rivals x Childhood Crush
🏒 Hockey Player x Psych Student
📚 College Romance
🧡 Found Family
☀️ Sunshine x Sunshine

Me About You by Hannah Hamrick focuses on former childhood best friends Sutton Davis and Cooper Carmichael. Sutton has two dreams she’s always longed for–playing professional hockey for Team USA and another that she’s pushed to the back of her mind. A life-altering, career-ending injury robs her of the most important of these dreams–playing hockey. Sutton is on a journey of self-discovery of what her life will be without professional hockey. In laying the foundation for making her new dream come true, she must rely on Cooper, whom she can no longer stand. Their friendship ended following a fight and her subsequent injury, after which Cooper became Sutton’s rival. Sutton, however, remained Cooper’s childhood crush all this time.

Cooper wonders what his future holds, and whether it will include hockey, which has stopped being fun. The burden and pressure of living up to his father’s hockey career/name and the expectations of captaincy of his college team caused Cooper to fall out of love with hockey. Cooper hides his burnout with his sunny disposition and over-training. But his coach notices, volunteering him to work with sports psychology student Sutton. Sutton helps Cooper fall in love with hockey again and deal with his anxiety and stress. Along the way, Sutton rethinks her reasons for blaming him for her injury. She also spends more time thinking about her second dream–being loved by someone–namely Cooper. Sutton and Cooper need each other, but first they must let go of the past and the hurt, anger, feelings of betrayal, longing, and yearning keeping them apart. However, Cooper is still keeping a tremendous secret from Sutton that could change everything between them.

I couldn’t resist reading Me About You because it’s a hockey romance about childhood friends, one of whom is crazy, lonely, and pining for the other, who’s angry with and can’t stand him. The angst potential is high. Although I’m not big on angst, I love it with childhood friends-to-lovers, pining, and perceived unrequited crushes. Hamrick is a new author to me, and I am glad that I read her novel. I love her writing style and ability to balance angst, serious topics, and romance with humor. Hamrick’s knowledge and love of hockey are showcased through her characters and the novel’s entertaining hockey scenes.

Adaptable and patient, Sutton focuses on making her dream come true and regaining her strength/rehabilitating her injured leg. Although shes accepted that hockey is no longer the center of her world, Sutton’s still finding her way, building a new life and dreams. Being around Cooper is painful and makes it difficult, so Sutton tries to avoid him. She’s intelligent, analytical, independent, and resistant to relying on Cooper after he destroyed their friendship, and Sutton feels betrayed, blaming him for blowing up her life. Confident and driven, Sutton goes after what she wants and doesn’t think she needs anyone–especially Cooper. Despite all that she’s been through, she’s remained compassionate and helpful, as evidenced by how Sutton helps Cooper get through an on-ice anxiety attack.

Drowning under the weight and pressure of his hockey team captaincy and identity as a second-generation hockey talent, Cooper suffers anxiety, stress, and panic attacks. But he’s keeping it hidden from everyone. It’s causing him irreparable emotional, mental, and physical harm, and to his love of the sport of hockey. Through all that, he ignores Sutton’s attempts to push him out of her life, clinging to the one thing that keeps him grounded and moving forward–her presence. Thoughtful, caring, and sweet, he can read Sutton and only wants to be there for her. Cooper wants Sutton to be happy and achieve her dreams. But Cooper needs to be in her life because she’s the sun. Her presence eases and calms him.

Cooper’s stubborn insistence on remaining in Sutton’s orbit, and regaining her friendship, even if he cannot attain her heart, is irresistible. It’s clear how deeply he cares for Sutton, and it’s crazy that she doesn’t see it. I love how he cares for Sutton despite her animosity. However, underneath the animosity/anger, Sutton still has complicated feelings for Cooper. Being together as friends and a part of each other’s lives again is healing for both. Sutton anchors Cooper, allowing him to be himself and who people want/expect him to be. From Cooper, Sutton discovers that the parts she’s been missing all these years were parts associated with Cooper and their friendship. Cooper and Sutton are happier and at peace when they become a part of each other’s lives again, spending time together, and are at least on the road to friendship. But their connection, sexual chemistry, and unacknowledged attraction are now even stronger and can’t be ignored anymore.

The characters’ senses enhance her description, drawing you into each moment, making you feel present with them. I love Cooper and Sutton and their snarky, funny, emotional, steamy, sexy, sweet, and intimate conversations, interactions, and love scenes. Hamrick alternates between the present and the past, using flashbacks and memories to tell their story. Her development and transition of their relationship from foes to unwilling allies, back to friends, and ultimately lovers is heartfelt, emotional, and stirring.

A quirky and hilarious friends group with its own intriguing dramas supports Cooper and Sutton. I can’t wait to read more by Hamrick and about these characters. Steamy, funny, sexy, emotional, and beautifully written, Me About You is a fast-paced romance with wonderfully developed characters recommended for it’s-always-been-you, rivals-to-lovers, childhood crush, hockey sports romance, hockey player, friends-to-lovers, dating lessons/coach, found families, college romance, steamy rom-com, steamy second-chance-friendship fans.

I received an eARC from LoveNotes PR. All thoughts and opinions are my own

After a career ending injury, Sutton Davis has her mind set on being a sports psychologist. Unfortunately, her current university doesn’t seem to have a program for that. The school is allowing her to make her own curriculum, with the expectation that she works with a student athlete that is currently struggling with anxiety. The only problem? The athlete in question is her childhood ex-best friend and bane of her existence. Sutton has struggled with feeling like she’s enough, especially after what Cooper pulled in high school.

Cooper Carmichael has loved Sutton since the moment he laid eyes on her. After a fight the day Sutton gets injured, he’s pushed from her life— well as much as one can be when your parents are close friends. Cooper has always struggled with the expectations placed in him due to his father’s famed hockey career. But as he gets closer and closer to the NHL, Cooper’s anxiety becomes debilitating. His coach begins to notice Cooper is on the edge of burnout and recommends he work with a student studying sports psychology. Cooper agrees, only to find out Sutton is said student.

Sutton is about to back out, when Cooper comes up with a compromise— in exchange for Sutton helping him through his anxiety, he will be her dating coach.

As the two spend more time together, Sutton realizes Cooper she may have been all wrong about Cooper. This time, Cooper will do whatever it takes to get the girl.

Read if you like:
• friends to lovers
• second chance friendship
• sports romances
• it’s always been you

This was so cute. Did I hate the third act break up because it was for a stupid reason and definitely just thrown in, yes. Did I strongly dislike the epilogue, also yes. But other wise there were more cute and likable moments throughout this book

Thank you to Love Notes PR and Hannah Hamrick for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review!

People wear their hearts on their sleeves. Sutton wears hers in her eyes.

trigger warnings include: Explicit language, explicit sexual content, alcohol consumption, MMC that experiences anxiety and burnout (on-page anxiety attack), serious hockey injury (off-page), mentions of infertility (neither MCs and off-page), references to adoption

God, I devoured this book. It was almost a one day start and finish, and had I read it a day earlier and didn’t have work the following morning I could have pushed through.

This book is a dream for readers who are heavily character driven, not only giving you these perfectly rounded and three dimensional main characters, but you feel like you really get to know the supporting cast as well. Their friends, teammates, family - they all have character and motivations and it just pulled me deeper into the verse the more I read.

I know this is an opening to a series, but a lot of the drops for character and setting that would be placed to show an extended universe still felt really natural, like you were just stepping into the world and not that it was just lore drops because a book two was in the making. It’s my favourite kind - a series I’m holding out hope for, not wondering if it’ll pique my interest as it continues.

I was barely 20% in when I fell in love with Sutton, and not much later when I realised Cooper was joining the list of fictional men I treasure. I love a good second chance, but the deeper and deeper I got and the more I realised it was never Not an option for him just made me feel giddy. Top tier yearner on our hands, honestly.

There were some things that brought it down to a 4 star for me, a few mentions that will come to date it in years to come, slang that pulled me out of it for a moment and juvenile motivations that lorded over the college-set timeline as much as the high school flashbacks, with the character associated with them still keeping that motivation set into adulthood. I know it’s a purposeful character driver and that it was to show her immaturity and willingness to push others down to raise herself up, and this is a personal gripe, but it unfortunately did add to the loss of a star from a perfect read.

To bring it back up, I know I’d love this from the initial depictions of anxiety on the page, and how much care Cooper’s storyline was held with as it progressed from the initial panic we see, to the journey we see with his condition. Sometimes anxiety can be done very wrong, but this portrayal was so special to me, and especially the “there’s nothing wrong with you” sentiment throughout, showing that he experienced this but it didn’t take away from him as a person within the narrative, or character within the novel. Truth be told, I’m a tad emotional thinking about it and how much good it really did for me to read that.

This is a really solid 4 Star read for me, and I can’t wait to see what else Hamrick puts out, both in this series and separate to it.
