Probably just a bit too wordy. The writing isn't really all that clear either. It is to go back to the library today and I don't think I will come anywhere near to finishing it.
The current McCandless 10 rules of taking photos are (in no particular order):
1. Use a flash when you have to
2. Zoom in - it really is better to be too close than to have crap photos of tiny people lost in an endless landscapes
3. Think in thirds - if the focus of the picture is slightly off to the side that is almost always a good thing
4. It is a digital camera, what is it going to cost you to take another shot in a slightly different and probably more interesting way?
5. Weird angles are good angles
6. Never listen when people say they don't want their photo taken - cameras are for stealing souls and as someone who doesn't believe in souls they give me the only chance I will ever get to steal some.
7. ISO is your friend, EV is your friend, f-stop is your friend, white balance is an acquaintance
8. Interesting photos include the three Rs: Randoms (people you don't know who are just there), Reflections and Amputations.
9. As in the three Rs above, never follow a rule just for the sake of following the rule
10. It is hard to take good photos if you never take any photos

This is a book written by an author answering all of the questions he had about digital cameras, photography techniques, and photo-editing. I found it to be very helpful with step-by-step instructions and photos demonstrating each topic.
Read
December 30, 2015An informative book explaining the basics of how to use a digital camera. I found a lot of great tips that I would like to try out. It also enforced my suspicion that I would really like a more expensive camera. sigh.

A lot of the book is very out of date now. However, basics on composition and exposure still hold good.
