This book.......*sigh*. The title should have been "Oh, Dane" because I swear she says it at least 50 times.
I actually liked the plot and the storyline. And the characters. What I could not get past is the poor writing. Some phrases were repeated so many times it felt like one of those bad re-run channels on cable that play the same 20 episodes of washed up shows over and over.
I love Shadonna Richards books. Dane & Olivia’s story is a love story full of surprises and hope. Dane is one of the alpha males you dream about, and Olivia has just been given the opportunity to save face with over 300 wedding guest. There story is one of love, passion, and hope. Looking forward to The Billionaire's Promise (Billionaires of Belmont Book 2. Can't wait until February 27, 2015.
Extremely poorly written. When it isn't being repetitive, the author jumps all over the place. "Sexy" thoughts come out of nowhere and the sexual tension is very juvenile and heavy handed. I actually finished this book hoping it would get better, but alas, no such luck.
Got this on Stuff Your Earbuds day and was needing to listen to something while doing some house work. Cute little novel, but felt like it needed a little more pizazz. Felt like the author couldn’t decide between a happy clean book or a book with spice scenes. Yes it had spice scenes but the wording on some of it felt weird. I dunno could have just been me 🤷🏼♀️
The title caught my attention. Surprisingly, for someone who doesn't like this genre, I enjoyed the majority of it. The one part I found annoying was the damsel in distress who constantly said, "Oh Dane!" I felt like I was grading papers again starting every single sentence with, "I like...." 😳 Other than this grating on my nerves I will say it's one of the better books I have read in this category..
The story itself was... Decent if you take out almost everything.. but CONSTANTLY having to re-hear his back story became tedious and boring. It was quite hard to complete the book. I jumped between listening to the audio and reading the ebook and the narrator had me grinding me teeth in frustration with how she pronounced certain words it was so hard to listen to. I am so glad the "erotic" scenes were so few and near the end because they were just as hard to read, with their repetitiveness, and the terrible word choices. If I hear the word "moist" again it will be too soon! And the things that were supposed to be "sweet" words to eachother felt more like over sugared B.S. will not be continuing
Good concept but poorly executed. Starting off at a solid three, three-and-a-half stars, the further into the story I got, the worse the cliches became, particularly in the love scenes. Some of the it made no logical sense while other phrases and dialogue were ridiculous. Repetitive descriptions and explanations abound for unimportant things, but places where the characters could have been fleshed out were rushed and more of the “tell rather than show” type. I’d originally started this as part of the boxed set of books 1 & 2 in the series but couldn’t bring myself to finish more than the first book.
This story of Dane and Olivia would have been shorter and cleaner if not so repetitive. Often. The only time feelings are discussed are the immediate, physical reactions. Anything else between them is never discussed on either side nor in their internal dialogues. Every time "JoJo" is brought up, I immediately think of clowns, monkeys, and circuses. The ending is unbelievable; from Dane being out of town and his instant arrival to him being allowed in the room with the police.
3.5 stars This was a fun read. Dane and Olivia are interesting characters. I enjoyed their romance and the interesting family dynamics. The subplots were interesting and I wish that we had seen more of each of them.
I was not a huge fan of this book. I listened to the audio. I felt the story was very predictable and cliche. I'm a romance lover, but this was just too predictable for me.
wow this is the new series from this author. a little longer than her other books. so sad about the father having six months t live so he wants to see his sons settle down before he goes.LOVE the bucket list challenge. that's new. love the storyline with Dane (belmont heir born on the wrong side of the sheets) and Olivia (jilted at the altar bride). Can't wait for the next one. the twist at the end really good and draws you into the other story. Overall very, very good read. highly recommend
