In Formula 1, every second counts—and so does every secret.
And for Violet and William, that secret could destroy everything.

Colton Racing is finally on the rise. With a powerful new sponsor, a promising second driver, and Violet’s unyielding leadership, the team is set to take on the midfield. But behind the precision of every lap and the polished image of the paddock lies a truth that could bring it all crashing: Violet Colton is in a forbidden relationship with her star driver, William Foster.

When their secret threatens to be spilled, Violet and William are thrust into a high-pressure game of restraint.

No touches. No words. No love.
Not where anyone can see.

Yet passion doesn’t obey rules—or the stopwatch. Each stolen glance, each near touch threatens to expose the fire they can’t extinguish. Their hearts race not only for victory on the track but for the love they are desperate to claim.

As sabotage and manipulation swirl around them, Colton Racing teeters on the brink of destruction. Everything Violet built begins to crumble when an incident forces her to confront the terrifying possibility of losing not just the team she’s sacrificed everything for—but the only man she has ever truly loved.

With their careers, reputations, and hearts hanging by a thread, Violet and William face an impossible: will they continue hiding in the shadows, or will they risk it all to fight for each other and openly claim their love in the unforgiving spotlight of Formula 1?

First of all, thank you again to the author for allowing me to beta read this book. As always, my review is my own opinion and my personal views of the story.

Disclaimer: This is the second book in the trilogy, so the review might contain minor spoilers.

Violet and William have gone through their first season rebuilding Colton Racing with some hiccups, but overall exceeding their own and everybody’s expectations. Now, surely, in the off season they can recharge, maybe even spend some time together? You might want to rethink that.

From being a backmarker to possibly fighting for points and on good weekends, perhaps even getting a podium, the tide is starting to turn, and Dominic won't allow that, because after all, it doesn’t fit his narrative. The constant thought of “will he, won't he strike" with his plotting was on the same level of frustration that you get with the most persistent villains.

Violet and William go through some challenges, but you cannot deny that what started as a simple arrangement has quickly evolved into more than that. William's longing can attest to that, and so can Violet's. Can I also mention that there’s one scene where William takes the lead, which took me positively by surprise because it was sooooo good (you’ll have to read it, but trust me when I say you’re going to like it. You can thank me later).

In this book the stakes are higher with the unpredictability of Dominic and the secrets he threatens to reveal to the media and the others' moves to hinder the improved performance that Colton Racing showcases this season. The romance gets sweeter, and at times bittersweet, but the emotional maturity and communication shown in their interactions is ever present.

You also get to meet some new characters, whom I'd love to get to know more about their stories! (I’m praying for it)

If you want to read about a sports romance, with topics of found family and the underdog team rises from the ashes narrative, this should be your 1st choice! The romance is about two emotionally mature people who are far from being perfect, but mutually help one another, and together they become whole. That’s exactly what makes them more realistic, in my opinion.

This is the second book in the trilogy but it surely doesn't suffer from second-book syndrome; if anything, it's an upgraded version of the first!

ARC provided by LoveNotes PR in exchange for honest review.

It's a Christmas to forget for William, Violet, and Colton Racing. William and Violet are spending Christmas together when her phone blows up. Dominic Harrington has triggered EJ's exit clause - during the holidays, designed to cause maximum destabilisation at Colton Racing. Violet and Silas manage to smooth things over, but it's an indicator of things to come throughout the new season. He tips off the press about Violet and William, and they need to juggle racing with PR. As the season progresses Harrington's dirty tactics get worse and worse, culminating in an incident that is terrifying. Will Violet, Silas and everyone at Colton Racing manage to ride the storm? And what happens next for William and Violet?

It is no secret that I absolutely adored Racing for Redemption. 100% my favourite sports romance ever. So could Racing for Love ever reach the same heights as it's predecessor?

The answer is a resounding yes. Although Racing for Redemption is still my absolute favourite, this book still delivered on a huge scale. There is less race content in this one, but still way more than I'm used to in sports romances, so that's still a big tick. The plot of this one is more focused on off-track politics, particularly the problem Dominic ******* Harrington (direct quote from the Team Principal!) has with Violet. The misogyny is strong with him, and his actions are vile, his determination to destroy Colton Racing and Violet's life absolute. But Violet is absolutely not a shrinking violet (excuse the pun!), and she is ready to fight back - literally, and it is GLORIOUS (you'll know the scene when you read it!), particularly as it follows a moment that stops your heart as you read. The description of that moment is so visceral and cinematic, particularly to an F1 fan - it was truly incredible.

The distance that Violet and William are forced to enact is devastating, as you see the strain of it on both of them. The moments they do get together are all the more poignant and beautiful. A scene in Japan had a lump in my throat. William's temper is very much under control in this book, meaning his golden retriever qualities are very much amplified, and you feel his emotions deeply. When the moment comes that they no longer have to hide, the joy radiates off the page, and I physically cheered, particularly at the reaction of those in the garage.

The improvement of the new car means that there is more success for the Colton Racing team to celebrate, but I like that Silva has tempered the success with some failures and issues, stopping a totally unrealistic climb from backmarkers to World Champions in a short space of time. It's an intelligent move by someone who is clearly a fan of the sport, not falling victim to a need for glitz in the story. I am one of those awful humans who cries at major sporting successes (I sobbed when Lando crossed the line as WDC last year!), so one moment really got me in this book, tears slid down my cheeks. That in itself is a testament to Silva's storytelling - I felt like I was sat in front of my TV, watching the race directly.

Racing for Love is an absolutely fantastic continuation of the Backmarker Love trilogy. You might think that less track action would make it less exciting, but the off-track drama hooks you. I was devouring pages furiously, determined to see what Harrington would do next, whether he'd get his comeuppance, but most importantly, how Violet and William were coping with everything being slung their way. I truly cannot wait for book three - I am that invested in Colton Racing, their star driver and their Team Principal.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review this book!

Before starting the review, I would like to thank Vanessa Silva for granting me ARC access to this story. I am leaving this review voluntarily and hopefully I won't spoil anything.

I jumped into this book immediately after finishing the first, and I’ll admit, I was incredibly anxious after reading the summary. Knowing their secret romance was a "ticking time bomb," I spent the first half of the book on edge, waiting for the shoe to drop. That tension kept me glued to the pages! (literally)

Picking up immiediately where the previous book ended, Racing for Love is a stellar sequel that balances the grit of the paddock with deep, emotional vulnerability.

The standout element of this book is the character development especially of the main characters. Violet continues to be a strong main lead; I deeply admired her maturity and restraint while navigating a male-dominated industry. Watching her lower her walls and realize that vulnerability and love isn't a weakness—but rather a new way to lead and love—was incredibly moving.

Conversely, William’s transformation is one of the best I’ve read in the genre. Seeing him evolve from the so called "hot-headed damaged goods" into a total walking green flag was a joy to read. I especially loved that his love for Violet and by extension Colton Racing wasn't a distraction, but rather his primary motivation to excel on the track. His response to the events following the leak of their relationship was a true testament to his growth.

The F1 world-building remains top-tier. The racing scenes felt realistic and cinematic without being overly technical. I appreciated that Colton Racing’s progression felt earned—they didn't go from last to first overnight, which made their journey feel authentic. While reading, It felt like I was there with the characters rebuilding the team with them. Even tropes I usually avoid, like workplace romance were handled with such respect and lacked any toxic power plays. The reactions from sponsors and the media felt legitimate and added just the right amount of tension without making the story feel "heavy."

The introduction of characters like Felix, EJ, and Oliver has me crossing my fingers for spin-offs! My only complaint is that the book ended... —I am already desperate for the third book. This is the perfect "feel-good" read that manages to handle conflict and tension without feeling too heavy.

This book is the second in a trilogy. You HAVE to read the first book Racing for Redemption before reading this one because it follows the same couple. Now… I didn’t know this when I requested this book on NetGalley because I’m dumb. I did in fact read this book without reading the first one and I did have the most fun regardless.

I love William and EJ and Violet and Oliver and Jake so much. I love the fact that we get the perfect amount of F1 action and romance.
I love the mental health representation and how that was dealt with so much care.
I didn’t except such high stakes and drama and darkness! But it added so much and it made me excited to continue reading.

Protect William at all costs. Thank you very much. So excited for the third and final book.

📖 May contain slight spoilers if you haven’t read the first book!

Racing for Love is the second installment of the Backmarker Love Trilogy, and I couldn’t wait to dive in after finishing Racing for Redemption. The story picks up just a couple of weeks after the first book, and it immediately pulls you back into the high-stakes world of F1. Colton Racing is on the rise after a successful redemption season, with a new sponsor and a promising second driver. Can they challenge the rest of the grid? Well that depends… Violet and William are holding onto a secret that could cost Colton Racing everything.

I loved the continued chemistry between Violet and William. Their connection felt real, and more established with the help of new characters adding depth to their story, and I found myself rooting for them just as much as the main characters. Yes, there were a few predictable twists here and there, but honestly, I couldn’t stop turning the pages. The pacing is spot-on, and I loved the balance between the racing action and romance, but appreciated the author touching on important topics. I can’t wait for the next lap in this trilogy! 🏎️

The vibes – Fast cars, drama, hotter chemistry 🌶️, mental health and PTSD.

Thank you Vanessa F Silva, Xpresso Book Tour, and Net Galley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

(Thank you to Vanessa F. Silva & Xpresso Book Tours for the eARC in exchange for my honest thoughts 💌)

I had no idea when I requested this ARC that it was the second book in a trilogy, but I was so happy to go back and read the first one. This is a new author to me, and I have thoroughly enjoyed both books so far.

The depth of knowledge and excitement around F1 truly stands out. It honestly surpasses any other F1 series I have read. You can feel the passion and research on every page. On top of that, I absolutely loved how real the characters felt. The love, the growth, and the struggles all seemed authentic. And can we talk about how William always supports his girl? Swoon.

I especially enjoyed Violet’s character. She never backs down in a boardroom or an industry dominated by men. She owns her space, and I am absolutely rooting for her. I also thought it was such a cool and personal touch that at the end of each book we got insight into the author’s thought process and vision for the series. It felt like getting a little behind the scenes moment straight from the author herself.

Overall, I really enjoyed the first two books and cannot wait for the third. I will definitely be following this author because her writing is top tier.

Wow, the emotional rollercoaster this book took me on! One minute I was giggling and kicking my feet, but then the next, I was fully crying. The technical F1 stuff was amazing, and I love that it wasn’t too detailed, so it didn’t become boring. The suspense and tension during races really felt like I was actually watching a real F1 race!
I still love the side characters, and my favourites in this book were EJ and Silas. EJ was so adorable, and so was the brotherly bond between him and William. Silas was freaking hilarious at times. He really supported Violet and backed her up every time.
We get to see different sides to William and Violet and the dual POV means we get to see the yearningfrom both sides 😫 William is still his cute golden retriever self, and his yearning for Violet was *chef’s kiss* Violet was SO badass in this book; she took it to the next level. Honestly, Dominic Harrington got what was coming to him. I loved seeing Violet accept her feelings for William and be vulnerable with him. Some of those moments had me tearing up.
I would absolutely recommend this book if you want a well-written F1 romance with loads of yearning!

Racing for love - Vanessa F Silva - ARC review 🏎️

4,75

Thanks to the author for the ARC and Love Notes PR 🫶

The F1 is still very well represented in this book, even more than the first one!!

I was impressed in the first book by Violet’s character, but here??? She’s so badass omg and especially in a very good scene. I don’t want to spoil it for you, but wow 🤭🤭

William is still such a green flag, even his friendship with the younger driver is soooo cute 🥹🫂

I’m still so in love with their relationship. I think I’ve never seen such a good relationship like that, and without miscommunication between the characters. 🤭🤭

I love Silas and how he always protects the team and Violet. He always makes sure everyone is okay and I love him for that 🫶

I can’t wait to read the final book of this trilogy this year!! And of course I hope all of William’s wishes will come true. 👀👀

I also hope that we will know the truth about what truly happened in Monaco 🫣🫣

This is the second book in a trilogy and not an interconnected standalone. You really do need to read Racing for Redemption first to fully understand Violet and William’s history and everything that carries into this story.

Racing for Love did not disappoint. I have never read a Formula 1 romance before, but the author makes the world feel intense and high pressure. The team politics, media scrutiny, and constant reminder that one mistake has high stakes - makes it feels bigger than just a typical sports love story.

Violet and William’s chemistry is still strong, and their push and pull feels believable because there are real consequences behind their choices. I also appreciated the glossary of racing terms since it made everything easy to follow without feeling overwhelming.

My only small critique is that a couple conflicts linger a little longer than needed, and the miscommunication can feel slightly frustrating at times. Bring on book three! I can't wait to see where Violet and William end up!

Thank you LoveNotes PR and Vanessa F. Silva for the opportunity to read this ARC🩷. This was an extremely cute F1 romance that actually made me interested in looking up the mechanics (no pun intended) of the sport and now I’m hooked! William is the picture perfect book boyfriend with a filthy mouth and overwhelming amount of love for Violet. The story was a great sequel, but I did take 1 star off because the last almost 20% felt “too HEA” for a series that’s going to have a third installment, and I felt like I needed more resolve or even a cliffhanger for the Dominic storyline. Truly could just be my cynical self though🤣

A good F1 romance read for people getting into the sport. There’s a lot of character focus and some racing scenes.

The story has a lot of ups and downs as it progresses, which keeps the plot interesting. I had a hard time with the dialogue and characters. They felt stagnant and the FMC just had to wake up and stop being stubborn.

The ending didn’t fall into cliches and the ending seemed to set things up for the next book.

I received an advanced copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest feedback.

Eeeek! Vanessa has done it again. The characters from RfR take us on the ride of our lives in her newest installment, Racing for Love. The character arcs are *chef's kiss* and the villains even juicier. This book has everything: high stakes conflict, forbidden romance, and, of course, Formula 1. The pacing is on point, giving the reader just enough mystery to keep things moving. Thank you, Vanessa, for providing me with an ARC copy for an honest review. Can't wait to see what this series has in store next!

Racing for Love is book 2 in the Backmarker Love trilogy! We picked up from where Racing for Redemption left off (yes, you can't read this book as a standalone; you need to check RfR first), and keep on following William Foster and Violet Colton's story as well as Colton Racing's rise from Formula 1's backmarker team that everyone mocked, into a challenger.

There's much more romance this time around, F1 action is up to the maximum (with all the geeky details and accuracy we love!), even if we cover fewer races this time around, and the behind-the-scenes politics and drama are also in full force. I hope you enjoy what I've crafted in this book!

Racing for Love is a bit heavier in the topics I've explored - please check trigger warnings, especially regarding panic attacks and PTSD. It also branches out on many plot points and character arcs from RfR, all exploring different dimensions of "love": for family, friends, passions, hobbies, life, etc.

If you're coming across this book for the first time (hello!), a couple of details:
- This is book 2 in a trilogy following the same couple and team (so you can't read the books out of order, or you'll spoil the story big time for yourself). Please be careful of that.
- Racing for Redemption (book 1) is on KU, Kindle and Paperback
- Book 3 will be out later in 2026, wrapping up this trilogy

These are the tropes:
🏎️ Forbidden Love
🏎️ Age Gap (8 years, FMC is 33, MMC is 25)
🏎️ Black cat FMC X Golden Retriever MMC
🏎️ F1 team principal and CEO X F1 driver
🏎️ Man obsessed
🏎️ Mutual yearning
🏎️ Mental Health Rep
🏎️ Banter
🏎️ Forced proximity
🏎️ Open door spice
🏎️ Found Family

Thank you so much for checking Racing for Love, and if you read and review it, a big thank you for occupying some of your precious time with this story!
