About the author

Fernando Krahn was a Chilean cartoonist and plastic artist. A celebrated cartoonist, his works were published in Esquire, The New Yorker, The Atlantic and The Reporter. In 1973 he was forced to flee his native country Chile to escape persecution after the 1973 Chilean coup d'état. Upon moving to Spain he had over 40 children's books published, which earned him the SM Ediciones' International Illustration Prize in 2001.

A lovely wordless picture book following the story of Santa as he struggles to deliver his presents. Like many wordless picture books, this story encourages the teacher to use the pictures and their own imagination to reveal what the story is. This also makes iy accessible to all children, regardless of ability. The illustrations are beautiful, and whilst some children may dislike the lack of colour, I like the emphasis of the red of Santa's outfit, as this forces the reader to concentrate on the main events in the story i.e. the troubles Santa is encountering. An enjoyable Christmas story!
