Cursebound has amazing world building turning what you know about vampires, slayers, and the mafia on its head. Seers are vampire slayers and the old world vampires are in the mafia. Rosa is her family’s Seer, she’s been getting more visions of unruly vampires taking her all over. After disposing of a vampire, she’s approached by Luca and immediately knows he’s old and powerful. They have an instant intense connection niether understand. They drive each other crazy, he wants to protect her but Rosa can handle herself. Their connection allows them to speak tellepathically. When she’s kidnapped Luca races across the city to rescue her, leaving bodies in his wake. They travel together to his safe house in NYC. Feelings start to develop and Rosa is the one trying to fight them. They form a plan with Luca’s second in command, another Seer, and a witch. Just when you think their plan is going to work, everything goes sideways and fast. This story blends all of the best things of mafia and vampire romances with amazing spice. Not only is the banter giggle inducing but their inner dialogue is witty and fun. This doesn’t end on a classic cliffhanger with the main storyline coming to a conclusion, but Rosa and Luca’s story isn’t finished.

This was fast. Messy. Slightly unhinged.
I was entertained against my will.
Let’s get into the chaos.
What worked for me
(aka: why I stuck it out)
The audiobook carried. I said what I said. I started out doing a read + listen combo and quickly abandoned the ebook because the inner monologues dragged on page. Switching to full audio? Immediate upgrade.
The duet narration made the experience feel more immersive and certain scenes hit harder purely because of delivery. Some of the intensity that didn’t quite land on paper felt much more convincing through the audio.
The premise had potential and moments where it worked. Rosa as a vampire hunter and Luca as a vampire mafia enforcer is objectively chaotic but it is a fun setup. There are glimpses of a more interesting story here, power dynamics, blurred morality and hidden truths that kept me curious enough to keep going.
And then there’s Luca's unhinged devotion. This is very much “I would run barefoot across the world for you after knowing you for five business days.”
Is it fast? Yes.
Is it earned? Debatable.
Was I occasionally entertained by the sheer audacity? Also yes.
If you accept that this book is operating on maximum intensity, minimum patience it becomes easier to go along for the ride.
Where it lost me
(aka: where the vibes stopped vibing)
Instalust…but it's giving soulmate speedrun.
Not just instalust.
Insta-connection. Insta-devotion. Insta-“my love.”
She meets him and we’re immediately in lust territory and before there’s any real build-up, he’s calling her “my love” and acting like they’ve been bonded for centuries. Add in the “I’d run barefoot across the world for you” level of devotion and we’ve fully skipped the emotional development phase. The bond explanation comes in later and helps a bit but by then we’ve already sprinted through multiple relationship milestones. It’s less slow burn and more emotional attachment on fast-forward.
The pacing said “no build-up, just vibes”...and then plateaued.
It starts slow, escalates very quickly and then kind of…hovers.
There’s not enough development to sustain that early intensity so instead of building momentum, it starts to feel repetitive.
The inner monologues got repetitive.
The same thoughts, same emotional beats, same internal conflicts - reworded, recycled, repeated. It slowed everything down without adding depth especially noticeable when reading alongside the audio.
Shock value over substance in some scenes.
There were moments that felt unnecessarily graphic without actually contributing to character or plot development.
The scene with Pietro in particular felt overly descriptive which made it come across as more for impact than for purpose and the transition that followed didn’t give Rosa enough space to process what happened. That emotional disconnect made the shift feel rushed and honestly, uncomfortable.
Intensity without enough emotional grounding.
Between the possessive dynamics, the “I know what you need” energy and some of the more forceful moments (even when contextualised), the book stacks intensity quickly but doesn’t always build the trust needed to make those moments land.
Final Thoughts / Final Verdict
This was… a mixed experience.
There are elements here that should have worked for me:
• supernatural bond
• morally grey, possessive MMC
• chaotic vampire mafia energy
But the execution leans too heavily into insta-everything, uneven pacing and repetition which kept me from fully connecting.
That said…the audiobook absolutely elevated the experience and there were enough moments of chaos and curiosity to keep me listening.

Paranormal mafia romance is apparently a thing. A thing that works.
Rosa and Luca are exactly what this genre mashup needs. She's a complete badass who takes zero prisoners, and he's the epitome of a tough vampire. Their chemistry is scorching and the pacing never lets up long enough to catch your breath.
Fair warning: there are moments that had me cringing with a full wtf face... and others where I was absolutely hollering "hell yes" at my book. Sometimes within the same chapter.
If you're looking for something fast, spicy, and unapologetically unhinged in the best way, This one delivers.

Rosa was such a bada** and I couldn’t get enough of her. The instant chemistry between her and Luca made for a spicy read, and after being alive so long both characters definitely are up for trying a thing or two 😜
I enjoyed the overall plot and if you want a vampire/vampire hunter spicy romance then I’d def recommend Kincaid and Morrow’s Cursebound.

Ok, now check out these tropes for this book! You got Vampire Hunter x Vampire, fated mates, enemies to lovers, forbidden love, possessive mmc, strong fmc, touch her and die, paranormal and mafia romance! 👀 AND the audiobook is duet narrated by Maxine Mitchell and SEAN MASTERS! I saw all of this and said, YES PLEASE! 😂
Luca is a centuries old vampire who is part of a vampire mafia in New York. His master/don has sent him to find and kill a vampire hunter seer named Rosa, or capture her and bring her in to him. Rosa is one of a few remaining seers left in the world and has been extremely busy lately with an influx of callings and killings. While taking down a vampire one night, she meets Luca and both of them experience an unexplained and overwhelming attraction to each other 👀 Not being able to just kill or just hand Rosa over to the Don, Luca decides to protect Rosa with his life while trying to figure out what’s going on with them, and to try and solve the mystery of who’s targeting and trying to take out the rest of the seers.
The bond between these two is supposedly a blood curse cast on them hundreds of years ago, but the bond Rosa and Luca share turns out to be so much more and I was there for it! Luca while being an alpha possessive mmc is so undone for his love of Rosa, and the way he protected her was chefs kiss 💋 The twists in this book I didn’t exactly expect, and was surprised by the ending.
As I said before, this audiobook was duet narrated by Maxine Mitchell and Sean Masters and these two killed it! The story was intriguing and it was spicy 👀 The way it ended also kind of left it open for more as well, and I’d definitely love to see more of this world in the future 🖤

Rosa and Luca
Mafia vampires is the sub genre I didn’t know I needed in my life! Luca and Rosa have this instant connection.
I loved the world building and lore as we get to dig into these characters and this world. There are twists and turns and surprises! I can’t really tell you much about the plot and I highly recommend going into this blind.
I will say Rosa and Luca have this opposites/forbidden vibe and their chemistry is off the charts.

Let me start by saying that Italian mafia vampires are my new favourite thing 😆 You want a dark mafia romance? Also vampires? Then read this book 😆
Hot vampire slayer girl meets hot vampire mafia dude. I’m literally obsessed. I cannot wait for the next book. Luca and Rosa’s story is so good! I also loved the side characters in this one, especially Matteo and Donatella. I’m really digging their vibe 😏😏 Sadie Kincaid and LJ Morrow have done an amazing job with this one!

Cursebound by Sadie Kincaid and LJ Morrow absolutely sank its teeth into me (pun intended) from page one. It gave major Vampire Diaries from the CW vibes—all that dark tension, dangerous magic, and small-town secrets where everyone’s hiding something. I was completely sucked in and couldn’t put it down.
Sadie Kincaid builds this world so effortlessly that you can practically feel the atmosphere (the shadows, the pull of power, and that undercurrent of danger) in every scene. It’s one of those stories that keeps you turning pages thinking, “Just one more chapter,” until you realize it’s 3 a.m.
The characters are what made this story for me. They’re layered, flawed, and magnetic in all the best ways. Every relationship (romantic, rival, or found family) adds another thread to the story. I loved how the emotional stakes hit just as hard as the supernatural ones. It’s dark and twisty, but there’s also heart, loyalty, and sacrifice woven through it all.
And let’s be honest—the chemistry? Absolutely electric. Rosa and Luca? Swoon. The romantic tension had me grinning one second and holding my breath the next. It’s that perfect mix of passion, danger, and unpredictability that makes this kind of story so addictive.
If you love your romance laced with curses, secrets, and a touch of chaos, Cursebound delivers it all. I need to get lost in more of this world immediately.

Sadie Kincaid builds this world so effortlessly that you can practically feel the atmosphere (the shadows, the pull of power, and that undercurrent of danger) in every scene. It’s one of those stories that keeps you turning pages thinking, “Just one more chapter,” until you realize it’s 3 a.m.
The characters are what made this story for me. They’re layered, flawed, and magnetic in all the best ways. Every relationship (romantic, rival, or found family) adds another thread to the story. I loved how the emotional stakes hit just as hard as the supernatural ones. It’s dark and twisty, but there’s also heart, loyalty, and sacrifice woven through it all.
And let’s be honest—the chemistry? Absolutely electric. Rosa and Luca? Swoon. The romantic tension had me grinning one second and holding my breath the next. It’s that perfect mix of passion, danger, and unpredictability that makes this kind of story so addictive.

Mmmm YEP this was delicious. I had the pleasure of listening to this ALC by Blue Nose Audio and it was INCREDIBLE! Sean Masters and Maxine Mitchell do an amazing job at narrating and this was no exception. The chemistry between Luca and Rosa was FIRE and I really enjoyed the storyline as well. Not to mention the spice was DELICIOUS!

What a wild ride! The characters and world building was fantastic. What's better than paranormal mafia romance? Rosa and Luca were amazing. I loved their chemistry and magnetism, even though they were on opposite sides of this long fought war.

If you have read Sadie's books before- you know you are in for a spicy good time and phew- this one for sure did not disappoint there.

It’s been awhile since I’ve read a dark paranormal romance and let me say I’ve missed it! I mean who doesn’t want to read about 400 year old mafia vampire and a stabby vampire slayer? If you don’t, I totally recommend it!

A vampire and a vampire hunter and add in some mafia elements - now this was definitely right up my street 👏🏼
This book follows Rosa who is the Capelli Seer and it is Rosa’s duty to eliminate disruptive vampires. She wears an amulet that alerts her when one is near and she receives visions in which she can track them down, but recently this visions have been coming more intense to the point that Rosa is mentally and physically exhausted.
I loved Rosa, she was feisty and fierce but saying that she carried a lot of guilt after losing her parents and sisters to a fire after she did a twin swap and was out partying a few years ago. Her grandfather (and I use that phrase lightly as there was nothing grandfatherly about him) never left her forget this burden.
Now Luca is a part of the Firenze Costa and he has received orders from his Don Vincenzo to track down Rosa and either take her or eliminate her. From the moment these two meet you could definitely say sparks were flying. Rosa of course was conflicted as she eliminates vampires not falls for them but she couldn’t deny there was something there with Luca. And let’s just say these two were joined together for a reason🤭
Luca, Luca, Luca, the amount of times this man has made me swoon in many parts of this book. I mean this man was most certainly ready to burn the world down for Rosa🥹

Rosa is a vampire hunter who protects the innocent from all the shadows you don't see lurking in the dark that thirst for your blood. I received an advanced review copy of this book. I wanted to love this because I love Sadie’s Broken Bloodlines series and I found the premise interesting, but it just did not feel like Sadie’s writing to me. The writing and the ending just felt rushed. It was entertaining and a quick read, which is why I’m giving it 3 stars.

Look, I saw Sadie Kincaid and vampires and was sold IMMEDIATELY. I ate this book UP. Sadie never disappoints and man this one hit. If I hadn't been so busy I would've devoured this entire book in one sitting. Truly had the best time. I was kicking my feet squealing at these two.
Luca and Rosa are divine. Rosa is a super strong independent "Seer" who essentially hunts vampires. Meanwhile Luca is an ancient and extremely powerful vampire who is a part of a mafia of sorts like group of vampires. These two are supposed to hate each other but man the moment they meet their desire for one another is intense, and the chemistry is off the charts.
I really loved this story. There was so much plot, and I just wanted to know more. The build up to the end was super intense and I am dying for the next book. Like I quite literally need it right now.
Loved all of the side characters as well. There are definitely darker elements to this story and man my heart hurts for both of the MCs but especially for Rosa. This girl has been through so much and is so strong still.
I am so down bad for Luca. When I tell you I love this man, I mean it. He is actually perfection I don't care he can do no wrong for me. I was swooning and would simply be a puddle for him. Everything he said was perfect and I really think I highlighted every word he spoke to Rosa because it was just that good.
If you love vampires, dark themes, fated mates, an intense plot, and the most toe-curling spice, you need to read Cursebound ASAP. Absolutely loved this book. So excited for what is next.

It is dark so you definitely need to pay attention to the trigger warning at the start of the book. There are abusive situations the FMC finds herself in that even gave me pause and that's not something that often happens when I read. Again - DARK paranormal romance. So all bets are off.

SADIE and LJ!! Theres something so insane with the way Sadie brings you into a book! This was absolutely riveting from the beginning and had me at the edge of my seat the entire time. I loved the way Rosa was a bada $ $ fmc and really held her own as a Seer and in general. She was always ready for anything... except for Luca. The many different events in her life that should have her locked in her mind kept being the things that kept her going. I loved seeing her be strong and Luca knowing her strength, especially when he doubts it and is immediately reminded of it. When shes getting the Call and they were fighting and he's like wait a second shes actually like a trained tough fighter, like yeah my guy thats her entire job?? Luca on his end was also so interesting, ive got to say i was doubting him the whole time. I have to admit it. I was waiting for him to turn around and a pull a... whats the bad guy from Frozen? Hans? Him. I was waiting for that moment but instead I got nothing but support. They really fell for each other in a matter of days and it didn't feel like those cliche instant love tropes. This felt intentional even with the potential circumstances. I loved Donatella, I want to know everything about her. Matteo... hes fun, I cant figure out if I want him with her or if I want to know more abojt this angry viking who likes it rough... also Minnie... im side eyeing her cause where was she? I could have read that but my adrenaline was like "it doesn't matter we gotta figure out whats going on with the vamps" but something with her has me like 🤨 freya.. dear Freya, I could definitely she her having a wild arc and being an absolute menace when shes older. With Donatella teaching her and everyone seeing right through her? A future un aliver right there and probably the best to ever do it

Rosa comes from a strong family of vampire hunters, being a seer herself. The woman has definitely experienced her fair share of trauma and grief and I feel like it makes her the strong willed woman she is at present! She takes no sh*t, and I love her fierce attitude.
Then there's Luca, I feel like I still have questions with him, and I can't wait to get more answers! He's a vampire in one of the strongest vampire mafia's. He's beholden to the Don, and doesn't know anything of his life before he became a vampire. I love an MMC that's obsessed and protective from the start! He's unforgivably himself, and there's more to him than what we see on the surface!
