What if the one thing you really need is right next door?
Slate Kinney needed a break. A break from touring. A break from the fast cars and easy women. He needed something real. So when he found the empty piece of land on the north shore of Long Island, he jumped at the chance to build a private retreat.
Jenny Philips has been hurt before. She's shut herself away from the world, away from the men who want to use and hurt her, alone with her baking and her loyal dog Basil. But when construction begins on the mansion next door, it destroys her hard earned peace and makes her hate her new neighbor sight unseen.
When Slate gets a good look at his gorgeous but gun shy neighbor, he knows he has to get to know her better. But when she isn't impressed by his fame or his fortune, he has to pull out all the stops. Once the lights go down and they show their true selves, will either one of them ever be the same again?
This book is a super sexy stand alone novella with a guaranteed HEA!

This was a really cute story. I am new to this author and got this book for free on Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised on how much I liked this story. It was about 70 pages but how the author wrote it it worked well for this story!
We have Jenny who lives in her late grandma's house and lives living there, the last 6 months she had bad luck with the neighbor and loud noise. I liked Jenny, she wasn't fazed by him being a rockstar, and just didn't trip all over herself to be around him, it was great to see! She was also funny!
Slate, was your typical rock star but at the same time he wasn't. He was so ready for more out of life. Done with the sleeping around and done with the loud party scene. I liked that about home I wonder what happens when a celebrity is tired of the limelight and this gave me an idea of how they feel when they are tired of it all.
Not much of a plot to talk about. It was a really cute story and I would definitely read more from this author in the future. The steam factor was amazing!
Overall this book rocked! No pun intended! Like I said above for being this short I was surprised I enjoyed it so much! So check it out!
The Rock star next store is a short story by Joanna Blake. Jenny Philips lives a quiet life as a baker in her grandmother’s cottage by the sea with her dog Basil, that is until a noisy neighbor moves in next door. Rock star Slade Kinney needed a break from touring, fast cars, and easy women, so when he decides to build himself a mansion as a private getaway on the shores of Long Island, he doesn’t expect to find the quiet baker next door. When the pair finally meet, Slade wants nothing more than to make her his.. the problem, Jenny doesn’t want anything to do with the annoying Rock star. Will Slade be able to convince Jenny that he isn’t just a shallow rock star? Or will Jenny keep him from ever getting closer? I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I knew it going in that this was a short book. I was trying to think when a short book would work....maybe complete it while taking a bath or a short flight.
A steamy romance of how a rock star will get his women and all the trimmings that come with her. Slate has it all but the perfect girl. He wants an original not some bottled blonde groupie after his money. But finding one is a lot harder than it seems when your a rock star. But one just might of jogged by him on the beach. Jenny is the owner of JennyCakes, a bakery. Unknown to her she now lives next door to a rock star. She just knows him as someone that has ruined her mornings and views of the ocean. Will she be able to get over that little fact when Slate bumps into her? Or will she hold it over his head?
Jenny's annoyed by the construction at the house next door for the past few months. Slate's looking for something real to get away from the issues he's had as a famous rock star. She does not want to be attracted to him since he's now blocking her view. He's determined to make her his.
And he does. A few times. And then ties her up when she told him she only wanted it to be one time. So there's that.
And there's a weird HFN/HEA involving sexual coercion and a possible pregnancy. But we never find out if her business succeeds or if she's pregnant.
This story kept my interest, unfortunately it was too short. There was build up, they get together, and then the story ends. I want to know more. Why is Jenny all by herself? Why is someone from South Boston, MA buying a house on Long Island, NY and not somewhere near Boston? Where does their relationship go?
We all know these are short little stories so although I want more, I'm very happy with the story. Jenny is pretty much hiding out in her little beach house when music bread boy, Slater, builds a house next door. It's pretty much love are first sight and the rest is delicious history!
No cliffhanger. She just wants to work and be left alone. When he sees her he wants her but she doesn't want him. After a hot night she finds herself unable to get away...
I got this free at the end of another one of the authors books. this is such a cute read! very sorry but it was fine. insta love is in full affect but it was adorable. and funny. and the short story was actually title "Slade". and I loved Jenny just as much as I loved Slade's character. looking for something more than his Rock and roll days and lots of groupies. Jenny is reluctant, not thinking she is anything special, basically hiding herself away from being social. these two are funny and adorable and so is Basil. plus they are hot together in bed and there is a very happy ending.
