The plan was supposed to be simple. Heal, rehab, get back on the ice.
Definitely don’t let anything past the line—especially Dr. Carina Park.
She’s the last person I should want. Too young and off-limits. Too focused on her career as an orthopaedic surgeon. She has a spine of steel and doesn't flinch, no matter how grumpy I get.
But from the second she puts me back together after my knee blows out, I know I’m in trouble. Because under all that armor, she’s fire and focus and the kind of soft I’ve always respected.
So when one unexpected night turns into something neither of us planned for, the line between what’s right and what’s real stops feeling so clear, and I stop pretending I don’t want more.
Nothing about this is simple. She’s built her life in the OR, and I’ve built mine protecting the goal line. Now we’re both fighting for something we never saw coming.
She wasn't part of my plan, but I've never wanted anything more.
And if she wants me too, I’ll gladly step over the line.

You know what it's like to be reading 30% of this book and knowing that it's going to be the best five stars of your life? No, that just happened. What a perfect book, the best way to end a series.
What a bittersweet story to finish off an amazing series. I’ve been so honoured to support these books from book one, and while I don’t often complete a series, this one has been an absolute favourite from start to finish.
Over the Line, My Thoughts 📖 ✨I loved how nothing felt rushed with Carina and Reid. You couldn’t help but sit back, devour, and enjoy the journey alongside them — something Hailey always does so beautifully across all her books. ✨The grump/grump trope was so fun to read — two very stubborn, reserved characters who discover their attraction runs so much deeper than either ever imagined. ✨Even in book four, Hailey doesn’t lose that funny, sharp banter, whether between Carina and Reid, the boys’ locker room, and beyond. 🤗🤗
✨This one hits harder emotionally, and I was here for every second of it. These two will absolutely steal your heart. ❤️ ✨This book truly has it all — so many laugh out loud moments (Grumplestiltskin 🤣🤣🤣) balanced perfectly with the scenes that absolutely wrecked me. I lost count of how many times I had tears in my eyes, and Chapter 32? 😭🥰 I was completely choked up 🤧 Plus little Noah and Meadow’s speech sets the tone right from the start — grab your tissues early, you’ve been warned! 🥰 A tender full circle moment 💫
Hailey is firmly an auto-read author for me. I cannot wait for her upcoming new series, Maplewood Fire — and if you’ve read her recent Christmas novella, you’ve already had a delicious little sneak peek🔥🚒
Thank you to Luna Literary PR and the author for opportunity to read this e-arc and provide my thoughts 💞
Tropes- Grumpy x grumpy Age gap Accidental pregnancy Goalie x surgical resident Hurt/comfort Found family
“You’ve been seeing me when I didn’t even know how to let myself be seen. I’ve spent my whole life trying to earn space, trying to be useful enough to deserve it. To be remembered and loved, and you just—Gave it to me.”
Thank you to Hailey and Luna for this ARC for my honest review. I'm not sure how she did it, but Hailey has outdone herself again with this one. Hutchy is 1000% book boyfriend goals. He will be who I compare all of my book boyfriends to from here on out. This book was perfection, and I wouldn't change a thing about it. Carina is a badass who doesn't need a man but deserves to be taken care of and Hutchy steps up! If you love Hockey romances and haven't read this series yet, what are you waiting for? If you've started this series and are waiting to meet Hutchy, you are in for a treat 🤭! After reading this series, I am so excited to see what Hailey has up her sleeve next for us! 100% recommend to all of my friends! 💖
By far my favorite of this series and a really great end too!
We follow Reid, who had surgery after an accident at one of his hockey games and Carina, a surgeon of his. Both of them started to hit it off and did not just catch feelings, but a whole ass baby. Now I’m a sucker for a pregnancy trope… then paired with a grumpy man? Divine.
Both characters were done very well. Both of them had enough backstory to explain their lives and feelings, but not too much so that it was boring. Their relationship worked out really well and didn’t feel like it was done too fast. I also liked that we read about the whole span of her pregnancy. Like the time jumps were done really really well. There’s a really great mix between banter, spice and sadness/ seriousness.
I was flying through this and even downloaded the KU version today, just so I could read the epilogue. A truly beautiful end to this series.
Over the Line is such a good story. It follows the story of our Colorado Storm goalie Reid. Who doesn't love a grumpy goalie? Those are my favorite.. and the Russian goalies too! Anyhoo!Carina is on Reid's surgery case and it's love at first sight for him. For Carina it takes a bit before she lets go and gives in to the feeling.
There are a lot of tropes in Over the Line but one isn't more important than the other. Surprise baby, grumpy and grumpier MCs, age gap (one of my favs), and found family. The Colorado Storm are a family and it shows in this book. Reid's hockey brothers show up time and time again for him and the ladies show up for Carina.
Reid steps up in so many ways to ensure that Carina is taken care of even if he can't be there physically.
I really enjoyed the green flag MMC and the FMC who wouldn't let him get away with anything.
Thank you to the author and Luna Literary Management for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Wow. This was incredible! What a way to end one of my favorite series. I loved Reid and Carina so incredibly much and i did NOT expect to feel so many emotions while fading this book. Accidental pregnancy is one of my FAVE trope, and this did not disappoint. Reid. This man. So swoony. The acts of service were EVERYTHING. The way Carina was so independent but he stepped up from day one and let her know she would never go through anything alone again. And i loved that even though she WAS so independent, Carina eventually accepted Reid for the partner and father-to-be he was. Ugh, and this crew of some of my favorite boys and their girls. Their banter was top tier as always. Their acceptance of Carina immediately into their group made me love them even more. I’ve absolutely loved this entire series and i am so sad to say goodbye but I cannot wait to see what Hailey has planned next.
Thank you to Hailey and Luna for the arc!
read if you love: hockey romance, accidental pregnancy, NHL goalie x ortho surgeon, age gap, hurt/comfort, found family
Thank you Luna Literary and Hailey Rodger for this ARC! I’m so pumped to be back with the Colorado Storm. Reading Over The Line felt like I was watching a movie and I enjoyed every moment of it. Carina’s personality and character spoke to my soul and I appreciated Hutchy’s patience when it came to loving her.
“You’ll never be an afterthought to me, Carina.”
Carina Park is a resident orthopedic surgeon that oversaw a portion of Hutch’s surgery and recovery. Carina’s family dynamic is really lonely. Her dad passed away when she was younger and her mom has remarried and had another daughter who she tends to more than she ever did with Carina. Carina’s relationship with her mom is basically non-existent and surface level. She’s has worked so hard to get to where she is in her life and career, but the exhaustion and stress starts to take over.
Reid Hutchison is the goalie for the Colorado Storm. In the last book, Hutch got injured and in his book, he’s starting out in the hospital, getting ready to have his surgery. Hutch can’t get a read on Carina, but there’s no denying that they have some underlying tension. It isn’t until Hutch is out of Carina’s care that he starts to come around the doctor’s office more frequently to catch her.
“You’re used to being the one who fixes and controls things.” “And you’re used to doing everything alone.”
When Carina and Hutchy start spending more time together and they realize that they aren’t all that different from each other. They both live lonely lives and maybe—just maybe—they could envision themselves letting someone in. I loved seeing the development from Carina finally letting someone in close enough to let them take care of her and make decisions so that she doesn’t have to anymore.
“I don’t know what my version of forever is. But for the first time in a long time, I wonder what it might be like to have someone worth trying it with.”
Hutchy and Carina start a little fling and they are each other’s stress reliever. After brutal shifts, Carina starts to exhaust herself and after a long day of work, she forgets to take her birth control pill. Oopsies.
“You’re allowed to decide what happens next. That choice is yours, and I mean that. But don’t you dare think you need to carry this alone, or you have to protect me from the consequences. This didn’t just happen to you. We did this together. And whatever happens next—whatever you decide—I’m in it. I’m with you. But I need you to know that I would never walk away just because it’s not part of a perfect plan. Because I don’t want to be anywhere else.”
I know a lot of people aren’t fans of the pregnancy trope, but I AM! I can appreciate the pregnancy trope because I want to see how the MMC acts when he’s told that his woman is pregnant and I want to see how he treats her after! Reid Hutchison is a GOLD STAR! I love all of Hutchy’s showings of quiet love and acts of service for Carina. He’s always sending her food to make sure she eats, he gets a head start on their nursery without Carina having to even ask, he has a whole note on the Notes app about Carina and what she likes and dislikes. Where can I find a Reid Hutchison, Hailey?!
“You’ve been seeing me when I didn’t even know how to let myself be seen. I’ve spent my whole life trying to earn space, trying to be useful enough to deserve it. To be remembered and loved, and you just—gave it to me.”
I don’t think I’ve read a black cat x black cat trope before, but I really liked it because it’s honestly what I imagine a relationship for me to look like. The found family trope in this book and all of the other Colorado Storm books is just so heartwarming. I felt like I was there for brunch in Hutchy’s kitchen when Carina was first introduced to the rest of the team and their girls. And let’s not forget our furry little sidekick, Gremlin. There’s nothing I love more than a grump pet who only (barely) likes their owner, but LOVES their owner’s soon to be significant other.
I had an inkling that Carina was Korean from her last name, but didn’t want to assume anything. It wasn’t until Carina opened the birthday card from her dad that had “uli ttal” in there. My YEARS of watching Korean dramas has paid off because I knew what it meant and what it said. As an Asian-American reader, that part was very special.
There was a lot of thought and care that went into Over The Line. Tears were shed, I was laughing out loud, and I felt a personal connection to Carina. This book was emotional, but in the best way possible.

This is basically just a Hailey Rodger fan account at this point. I clearly just love Hailey's writing style because she never misses for me. The banter always hits so good and I love love love the Colorado Storm found family. I've been waiting for Hutchy since book one and he did not disappoint. He was every bit the grumpy goalie who's secretly the biggest softie that I wanted him to be. And the man comes with a ladder. Talk about acts of service. And then we have our girl Carina. Out here just trying to save the world, one OR at a time. I love seeing the outwardly "tough" characters find their person and start to discover more of themselves along the way and show a little bit of vulnerability and we get that with both Reid and Carina in this book. They're perfect for each other and I loved seeing them welcome sweet Ivy to their clan with Gremlin and the bees. You want to make me melt? Make a big tough guy all soft and gooey for a baby and I'm so there.
Hailey, never stop being you and bringing us these stories. I want every single one that's trapped in that marvelous brain of yours.
Big thanks to Hailey for the beta opportunity and Hailey and Luna Literary Management for the ARC.
This book was everything I needed! The first line had me laughing and I knew it was going to be a great book!
When Reid is injured & needs surgery, Carina assists the lead surgeon and sets him on the path to get back to the game he loves.
Reid is a grumpy goalie, but the way he softens for Carina melted my heart!
Carina has a tough exterior with control issues, but Reid gives her a safe place to relax.
When one missed pill gives us two pink lines, Carina goes into self-sabotage mode but Reid is there for her even more than she thought she’d ever deserve.
I absolutely loved the pace of their relationship - it wasn’t rushed, it was honest and raw, and kept me wanting more for them.
The way Reid treats Carina is absolutely goals for any book boyfriend!
The found family is this series is 100% feral but full of love! I am obsessed with all the banter, jokes and sweet moments between his teammates and their partners!
Thank you Luna Literary for this ARC copy in exchange for my honest review!
Hutchy! She really saved the best for last. I’ve loved this series and couldn’t wait for him to get his book since the beginning and it did not disappoint!
He’s got it bad for his doctor and helps her in more ways than she can imagine. He falls for her first and he falls hard. I love the way he just shows her how much she matters to him especially has their relationship and journey continues through out this book.
WOW. I really loved this. It was funny, sad, heart wrenching, sweet, spicy, and so so good. I loved Reid and Carina. I LOVED that there wasn’t a third act break up. I loved that we got to see the entirety of Carina’s pregnancy AND birth. That was an instant cry fest for me.
If you like Chelsea Curto, Piper Rayne, or Brittanee Nicole you’ll like this!
I absolutely devoured Over The Line by Hailey Rodger. If you love messy emotions, grumpy characters who secretly care way too much, and a romance that’s equal parts chaotic and tender, this one delivers in the best way.
Carina and Reid are the definition of grumpy × grumpy, which made their dynamic so fun to read. Carina is a surgical resident who’s running on caffeine, exhaustion, and pure determination, while Reid is a professional goalie who has perfected the art of brooding. Neither of them is particularly sunshiney, and that’s exactly why their chemistry works so well. Their banter is sharp, their tension is constant, and the moment their walls start to crack it’s incredibly satisfying.
Reid especially stole the show for me. He’s a classic “acts of service” hero—quietly doing things for Carina, showing up when she needs him, and proving again and again that underneath the gruff exterior he’s completely gone for her. The he-falls-first energy is strong here, and watching him slowly become protective, supportive, and a little obsessed with her was chef’s kiss.
The age gap and slightly taboo/workplace-adjacent relationship add an extra layer of tension, and the accidental pregnancy trope raises the emotional stakes in a way that really works for their story. Instead of feeling like a gimmick, it pushes both of them to confront their feelings and figure out what they actually want from each other.
This book also has some surprisingly cozy elements mixed into the angst. The found family vibes, the chaotic side characters, and yes—even the feral cat—give the story warmth that balances out the heavier moments. And when Carina is struggling, the hurt/comfort scenes with Reid stepping in for her are some of my favorite parts of the entire book.
And of course… the romance is spicy. The tension between these two builds beautifully, and when it finally breaks the payoff is very worth it. The open-door moments are playful, intense, and memorable (the gym scene and balcony scene? Iconic). But what I liked most is that the spice never overshadows the emotional connection—it just amplifies it.
Overall, this was a five-star read for me because it perfectly balances: • sharp banter and grumpy chemistry • emotional vulnerability • protective, acts-of-service hero energy • fun found-family moments • and plenty of heat
If you love hockey romance with emotionally guarded characters who fall hard, this one is absolutely worth picking up. Reid and Carina live rent free in my head now. 🏒🖤📚
⭐️: 5/5 🌶️: 5/5
Thank you to Hailey Rodger for an advanced copy! All opinions are honest and my own.
Thanks so much Hailey Rodger and Luna Literary Management for the book. I was gifted this book as an advance review copy (ARC) for free, and I am leaving this review completely voluntarily.
Reid Hutchison is a veteran hockey goalie trying to get back on the ice after a serious injury when he meets Dr. Carina Park, the surgeon helping oversee his recovery. What starts as a tense professional connection quickly turns into something more as their chemistry grows. When life throws them an unexpected curveball, they both have to decide if they are willing to risk the futures they have worked so hard for.
This is the fourth book in the series and can be read as a standalone. If you love hockey romances and haven't read this series yet, what are you waiting for? I actually jumped into this series with book 3 last year and had not read any of the earlier books before that. It did not matter at all because I was able to jump right in. That book ended up being one of my favorite reads of last year and I gave it five stars, so when I saw this ARC available I knew I had to request it because I was excited to get back into this world.
This one did not hit quite as hard for me as book 3 did, but it was still a really enjoyable read. If you have seen my reading tracker, you know I can usually knock out one to two books a day depending on what is going on, and I finished this one in two sittings over two days.
Carina is a total badass. She is driven, career focused, and not someone who needs a man to take care of her, but Reid really steps up and supports her, which I loved. Their banter and chemistry were great, and it was fun watching two independent people figure things out together. Also just a heads up, this series has open door romance and it is HOT, so definitely prepare for some 🌶️ chili peppers.
The only thing I struggled with a bit was the “surprise” pregnancy trope. It is not my favorite. I do not dislike it, it is just kind of middle of the road for me.
Happy reading friends, ~ Maebae 💚
I’m a fellow book lover reviewing the good, the bad, and everything bookish in-between. All thoughts, opinions, and reactions are completely my own. I wasn’t paid, sponsored, or influenced in any way.
Reid and Carina are everything. The tension, chemistry and banter between these two is incredible. Hailey Rodger does an amazing job capturing the found family dynamic in this book.
The chemistry between Carina and Reid started right from the beginning whether either of them wanted to accept that. But once they did wow. I think the tension from the forbidden aspect of the relationship helped create a fun to read book. It left you wanting more.
Rodger does a great job creating the “villain” in this story. I have never had such full body reactions to a character the way I did Jenny and I think it’s because she’s someone we often see in real life.
These characters felt real, genuine and honest to who they were. Carina was incredibly relatable throwing herself into her work and feeling like she had to prove herself in order to be seen as “something”. As a woman no matter what we do we feel like we need to prove ourselves especially in male dominated spaces and Carina captured how exhausting that can be. The tangible tiredness and burn out she experiences felt like something I’ve experienced. Watching her learn to be vulnerable and lean on Reid was everything.
Reid is the kind of man every “I can do it myself” woman needs. This man shows up, not just with words but with actions. He takes the time to remember the little off-hand comments. The way she takes her coffee, what food she likes, the colour of her nails, the way she acts when she’s dealing with certain things. The fact that he constantly went out of his way to make sure that she was cared for even before they were anything was beautiful. Seeing Reid fall was incredible this man was everything I wanted and more.
I loved the communication between these two, especially when there was so much happening in their lives. I loved the protectiveness that Reid had for Carina, while also knowing she could do it herself. I loved the way Carina finally allowed herself to be cared for and opened up to Reid.
Carina needed a Reid someone who wouldn’t just let her run away from her big feelings. He helped her realize she needed to feel them and that he was a safe space for her to process them. The way he sat in the quiet while she worked through them but made sure she was supported. Never pushing too hard and knowing when they needed to stop and when she needed to keep going.
There was no world where the universe was going to keep them apart when they fit so perfectly together.
When a grumpy goalie falls first… he falls hard 🥅❤️
📖 Over the Line by Hailey Rodger ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Genre: Sports Romance
Tropes: 🔥 Fierce FMC 🤰 Accidental Pregnancy 😤 Grumpy x Grumpy 🩹 Hurt / Comfort 💘 He Falls First 🥅 Goalie x Surgical Resident 🏡 Found Family
Dr. Carina Park first meets Reid when the professional hockey goalie becomes her patient, his knee injury threatening his entire career. When Reid later learns that Carina needs help organizing a charity gala for one of her young patients, their growing friendship turns into a friends-with-benefits situation. But when a positive pregnancy test appears, Reid and Carina have to figure out how to navigate co-parenting while juggling their intense careers.
I really loved this book. Reid and Carina were such strong characters and honestly felt perfect for each other. Even though they technically met in a doctor-patient setting, I really liked that their relationship developed organically outside the hospital. It made their connection feel natural and believable.
Carina is such a great FMC. She’s strong-willed, incredibly driven, and gives off that cool, almost robotic doctor vibe on the outside. She knows exactly what she wants and what she deserves, and she refuses to settle for anything less.
Reid, on the other hand, is such a supportive MMC. He shows up for her in all the ways that matter - emotionally, practically, and wholeheartedly. Watching how deeply he cares for Carina and how ready he is to support both her and their future was honestly one of my favorite parts of the story.
What I loved most about this book is how green flag everything felt. The relationship, the communication, and the way they handled unexpected challenges all felt grounded and realistic. It’s one of those romances where you can actually see how it could happen in real life, which made it even more satisfying to read.
And of course, Reid is top-tier book boyfriend material.
I loved this one so much.
Thank you Luna Literacy and Hailey Rodger for this ARC.
Tropes- Accidental Pregnancy, Hockey Romance, Found Family, Age Gap (10 years), Strangers to Lovers, Hurt/Comfort, no third act

This was such an amazing accidental pregnancy book, I loved it so much and had an incredible time reading it. Their love for each other is truly amazing, I couldn’t put this book down even when it had me sobbing. Plus the pacing of the book was so well done, Carina and Reid are just perfect together I love them
Carina is amazing orthopedic surgeon who worked on Reid when he was injured. Carina oh Carina I love her so much and understand her deeply! She’s such a caring person especially when it comes to her patients. Carina was beautifully and strong written and her career struggles were described so well. I just love her so much and seeing her open up more was amazing She worked so hard to get where she is now and I love that for her
I was hooked on these two from the very beginning cause their banter and chemistry was there him calling her Dr.Doom in the beginning was so funny. Carina and Reid were just made for each other and seeing their relationship become something incredibly special and strong was amazing. Reid fell fast and hard for her since the beginning
Reid is the Storm’s goalie, he’s older and hot and just amazing I love him! He’s such a great mmc and very protective especially when it comes to Carina and the baby. Did I mention that he’s a cat daddy!? Oh yesss, I love when an older mmc has a cat loll. And the way he treats Carina!? Just absolutely amazing. I felt so bad for him towards the end like whyyy I was going through it
Reid and Carina had me giggling and kicking my feet. They belong together and I’m so happy they found a safe space with each other cause they deserve each other so much and I’m glad everything worked out for the better
I will definitely be going back to read the other books because the found found I experienced reading this book was chef kiss I was laughing basically the whole book I loved the chaos real bad
Thank You So Much for giving me this incredible arc !💐🖤
Oh Reid Hutchinson the man that you are. I love this series so much and so happy I got the ARC for this book.
This is a goalie x ortho surgeon romance. We start off with Reid's surgery from a big injury. Here is where he meets Dr Carina Park who is fondly calls Dr Doom because of her cold and often straight to the point, no nonsense attitude. Sparks begin while Reid is going through rehab after his surgery. What begun as a purely casual relationship turned serious especially after finding out Carina is pregnant which turned both their worlds upside down. This book revolves around their journey as would be parents and how they navigate their relationship as a couple.
I love seeing the team and their banter. Love how they rally and support each other. Also loved seeing the previous couples and how they are doing now. Reid was amazing and a green flag through and through. The way he stepped up and simply supported Carina in his own simple and quiet way was amazing to read. Being in love with a doctor going through residency is a huge challenge and we see that as the conflict for this book as well. My only problem and it is a big one is I really did not connect with Carina unfortunately which makes this book a bit hard to read for me. I think compared to how Reid's life and past have been shelled out in the book, there wasnt a lot for Carina. It was hard to relate to her and I sometimes found myself scolding her for neglecting her health (was okay in the beginning but when she got pregnant and she still continued to miss meals and not take care of herself, I started to feel frustrated). I love me some spice and this has a lot of them (maybe even a tad bit too much?!).
Overall, it was still a good book for me. If you're looking for an amazing sports romance series particularly hockey romances, this is such an underrated series.
Guys, this was such a great book! I absolutely loved it. Reid and Carina are perfect for each other.
I loved Carina so much. She was a surgeon and took her job extremely seriously. I loved her work ethic and how much she cared about each of her patients. She didn’t let anyone in and my heart broke for her when she revealed why she always wanted to be the one in control. However, slowly, she let Reid break down her walls and I loved when she finally allowed herself to be taken care of.
Reid was the most perfect MMC out there. While he was a huge grump, he did things to show people that he listened, observed and truly cared. Like Carina, he was has an incredible work ethic and worked hard to get back to his team. While he was a big, grumpy, hockey goalie, I loved when he was able to show his emotions and let Carina be there for him during his rough times.
While they were both grumpy, I loved how they still balanced each other out. They were so perfect for one another. They truly supported each other in their goals and wanted the other to succeed. Carina and Reid definitely had chemistry and I could feel the tension between them. Their spicy scenes were also off the charts.
I also loved the found family in this book. The girl group welcomed Carina and her friend, Heidi, with open arms. The guys were so supportive of Reid getting back on the ice, even if they had to have some fun with him too.
Overall, this was an easy five star read that I would recommend to anyone who loves an accidental pregnancy, age gap, grumpy x grumpy, spicy, hockey romance. I love Hailey’s writing and I would honestly recommend anything she writes. I can’t wait to read what she comes out with next!
I do recommend that you check the triggers before reading, just to make sure this is a book for you!
Thank you Hailey Rodger and Luna Literary Management for the ARC for an honest review!
There’s just something about hockey romances with a goalie as their MMC that get me. And gahleeee this one was perfect! Hailey Rodger’s books are fantastically written. They get you hooked and you can’t help but become absorbed into these stories. This one had the funny moments, the sweet ones, the ones that tore at your heartstrings, and it definitely left me wanting more!
Reid (aka Hutchy) is your typical broody, grumpy, goalie. He’s got a dry sense of humor that works for him, but deep down he’s protective, patient, kind, takes control, and is a big ole softy. He’s a character that will make you fall for him in a heartbeat. And Carina was confident, strong, determined, and to her core just wanted someone else to be in charge so she didn’t have to think. And because they were patient/doctor, their relationship started off professionally. But these two had a quiet pull towards each other. They didn’t have a loud, in your face relationship. It was natural, and felt like it was an old soul. One that didn’t have any fuss and they balanced each other out. It was beautiful to see unfold.
Don’t let the quietness of their relationship fool you though. Reid could take charge when he needed to, and boy it was hot! Not in your face spicy, but just enough to make your cheeks heat.
The best part of these books is the found family. These boys (and their ladies) are hilarious and they take you right in as if you already belong. It feels like a big family that’s chaotic and loud, but soothes your soul.
Overall this book was wonderful! I truly enjoyed every page. It made me smile, brought tears to my eyes, made me laugh, and left my heart feeling warm.
This was an ARC read for me, and these are my honest opinions.
A hockey player, a badass doctor and surprise pregnancy? I’m sold 😅🥰
Over the Line was pure perfection. I was obsessed from page 1 and it has my whole ass heart from now till forever. I absolutely love Hailey’s writing, it transports me into the scenes every-time and I fall in love with every character over and over. This one as no different, the best one yet actually. I love an accidental pregnancy trope and this was different from ones I’ve read in the past but it the best of ways. The pure heart and longing they both experienced did me in. The side characters, especially Henry had me laughing one minute and sobbing the next. I know it’s early to say but my fav read of March so far hands down.
Carina Park was a bad ass, independent, fierce doctor who is capable and worth so much. I love when an author writes such strong FMCs and Hailey absolutely delivered with Carina. She can handle her own through and through but I loved seeing her become soft and allowing herself to be taken care of when it came to Reid. Obsessed with her!
Reid Hutchison is straight daddy vibes, like I couldn’t possibly be more in love with this man if I tried. He was the ultimate teddy bear, the moments of absolute love and affection that poured out of him with Carina and Ivy?! I’m swooning over here 🙂↔️🤭🫠 One of my most favorite MMCs maybe ever, definitely top 10 book boyfriends. I loved seeing how much he loved and cared for Carina from the very beginning.
If you couldn’t tell I’m in love top to bottom with this book and would recommend it to literally anyone and everyone who would listen. ♾️ stars!
P.S. PLEASE TELL ME VIKTOR AND HEIDI GET A BOOK?!? I NEED THEM 😍😍
*Thank you endlessly to Hailey and her team for an ARC of this read!*
*Over The Line is book 4 and final book in the Orlando Storm series. While not necessary to read books 1-3, characters and history will make more sense*
Reid knows he shouldn't fall for his orthopedic surgeon. Not only is she 10 years younger and focused on her career, he should be focusing on rehabilitation so he can play out his last years. One night has him realizing his future has shifted and he'll wait for her to hopefully catch up.
This book wrecked me in the best way possible and put me back together by the end!
It's odd that a book makes me cry so the fact that this book invoked so much emotion from me at multiple plot points makes it an instant 5/5 and top read of the year. A good friend of mine recommended Hailey to me and I was fortunate enough to get an ARC of Make The Play (book 2) ad well as book 3 & 4. I thought nothing could top Chase and Zoe until now. Reed and Carina have both had hard lives that created 2 hardened people that rely on themselves and cherish their solidarity. Little did they know that they needed each other and were going to be forced together multiple times until they realized it. The way grumpy Reid softens for no one except Carina was so sweet. Carina learned that it's okay to let people in and rely on others to help you carry the load is something we all could probably learn. Reid is the best boyfriend and daddy as well as teammate and grandson, even if he doesn't think so. I could go on about this book and the whole series but I'll quit rambling and hope you read this series!
Tropes: ✔️ Pro Hockey Romance ✔️ Accidental Pregnancy ✔️ Pierced MMC ✔️ Age Gap (he's 10 years older) ✔️ Strangers to Lovers ✔️ No 3rd Act Breakup ✔️ Found Family
You know when you read a book and you know it’s special? Yeah this was that, for me. I was lucky enough to BETA read this one, and thought it was incredible then… but then i read the ARC, well that just blew me away further. It was phenomenal.
This series has had itself firmly planted in my brain, rooted itself into my soul and I’ve been DYING for Reid’s story, to see our grumpy goalie Hutchy get his HEA… and boy did he.
Carina was such a freaking warrior, a bad ass that didn’t know how to relax, how to let someone else be in control, how to just let herself be… until he came in and just did it for her. He took over when she couldn’t think anymore, he was quiet and steady and sure when she wasn’t. She was it for hom. The way they met had me cackling, and their banter was freaking HILARIOUS. Their chemistry was next level and I loved watching them tiptoe the line. They were also really freaking hot, like insanely hot. So many spicy scenes but not one of them felt unnecessary or too much. It was perfectly them and I loved every second.
The way their story developed with Hutchy’s surgery and healing, the introduction of the Moreno clinic and getting to see all the Colorado Storm gang rally round and help Reid, in their own ways, and then seeing them accept Carina into their family… it made me so freaking happy.
The accidental pregnancy was done really well, with so much rawness and relatability, and the way Hutchy immediately was locked TF down. Not only that but seeing him become so fiercely protective over her a their baby. My heart couldn’t take it. These two were such a unit other and watching the grow and heal each other was everything.
These two people, their story, their pasts… changed me. Irreparably changed me. The way both of their stories have parallels with my own, the way this story gave me healing through rainbows and hammers and an old man with a dry sense of humor. Their story isn’t without heartbreak, and I cried all the tears but then the way it was honoured, the thing that happened… I guess I can forgive Hailey a little bit 😉
I am so so sad to be saying goodbye to this series… but I cannot WAIT for what is coming next.
Hailey — you should even so incredibly proud of yourself because you did it girl. Your debut series??? SMASHED IT. No notes and all the love in the world.
Yall, what am I supposed to say about this book other than, Reid Hutchison, aka Hutchy!!! 🫠 . I think we can all agree our favorite grumpy, quiet, goalie is forever, the one & only Hutchy 🥰 Hailey...I know I've said Chase was my favorite & he still is, however Hutchy moved up on top. Sorry, Chase, you understand don't you. 🤭 Hutchy & that mouth. 😏 the spice yall whoo 🥵
As no surprise from the first page, that first chapter title, "she wants to shave my d!ck" had me hooked in & laughing. Hailey never fails. Not only with this book, but this entire series had me feeling all my feels. Tears, laughs, fanning myself, you name it, you feel every emotion with this book. Okay, let me make this feel more reviewy... Is that a word? It is now, for the moment. Ried & Carina were just fun. There was tension, banter, & there was grumpy Hutchy showing his caring side 🥹
Carina is such a bada** surgeon who's grown up believing the only person she could rely on is herself. That's until she crosses paths with Reid. I just loved their story. The character growth & seeing how Hutchy just slowly intertwines himself in Carinas life without being pushy...just there for her. Something she's never had. Don't get me started on little Theo every time he seen Hutchy, excuse me. Hut. 🥹 & Meadow, the freaking wedding planning...IYKYK 🤣 The ending, it was such a happy one, yet I was in tears. 😭 I just love this whole group of characters. I hate that this is the end of the series, but you know what we can always reread & revisit them! 😁
But yea, I can honestly go on & on...but to avoid spoilers, I'm gonna stop myself. Not sure if it's obvious, but I LOVED this book, this whole series. Highly recommend it. You won't regret it, & if you do, well guess we're gonna have to fight. Jk jk...kinda. 😆 okay fine joking joking.
Thank you Hailey & @lunaliterary.management for the arc I've absolutely loved this series.🫶🏻
This book is exactly why I love romance so much. I thought Jake and Charlie from book one were perfect, but Carina and Reid? Absolute perfection. They completely stole my heart, and it’s safe to say this story will always hold a piece of it.
I’m not going to write a long review because words truly cannot capture everything I felt while reading this beautiful story. What I will say is this: yes, there’s an accidental pregnancy, but no, the relationship is not forced because of it. Yes, Reid is an acts-of-service man through and through and he sets the bar incredibly high. There’s plenty of hockey and some deeply heartfelt moments about the sport. And yes, there’s a fierce heroine whose professionalism and abilities are questioned simply because she fell in love with a former patient. Let’s just say my emotions were all over the place, and the female rage I felt on her behalf was very real.
The chemistry between these two is undeniable. The spice is delicious and had me absolutely feral. Reid brings a dominant energy in the bedroom, always with consent at the forefront, and Carina is the perfect match for him. She needed someone who made her feel safe enough to finally let go of control, and Reid gave her exactly that.
This story also carries grief that will tug at your heartstrings, but it’s balanced with beautiful new beginnings that honor those who are gone. There’s so much love, friendship, family, and happiness woven into these pages that by the end my heart felt completely full.
This book is amazing. Just read it.
Thank you so much to Hailey and Luna Literary for his beautiful eARC!
That might be the most unexpected and wildly hilarious first chapter I’ve ever read. It was pure comedy and had me instantly falling in love with Carina and Reid.
She’s total black cat energy, he’s the ultimate grump, and somehow they just work. Their banter feels fresh and perfectly suited to who they are individually. Nothing feels forced; it’s sharp, natural, and full of chemistry.
The story flows easily, and the tension builds in such an organic way as you get deeper into their relationship. Reid especially surprised me. Beneath all that grumpiness are so many layers. He cares deeply about the people in his life, and watching him slowly open himself up to love and true vulnerability was such a treat.
Carina is incredibly strong, though she definitely struggles with boundaries and rarely puts herself first. But it comes from having such a big heart. She hates seeing people suffer and wants to fix everything and everyone if she can. That dynamic added so much depth to her character.
This was such a good read. I genuinely believe Carina and Reid are perfect for each other. I could list a hundred reasons why they fit so well, but honestly… you’ll discover them yourself when you read it.
Side note: can we PLEASE get Meadows’ book where she’s a wedding planner? Her wedding schemes are elite. I will absolutely riot if we don’t get her story.
Side note #2: I brought this to read at my daughter’s gymnastics practice and was not emotionally prepared to cry so hard, so thanks for that, Hailey Rodger.

My first Hailey Rodger book, and of course I started at the end of the series 😅 but honestly? I didn’t even care, I was hooked. There was a little bit of a learning curve with all the established characters, but it was still easy to follow, and now I definitely need to go back and read the rest of the series.
Reid and Carina had me from their hospital meet-cute 😂💘 He’s a grumpy goalie with a soft side only she gets to see, and I was obsessed. Carina is guarded and loves control, but with Reid, she gets to let go a little, let go of some of the control and watching that happen felt so real and swoony.
I loved the pacing of their relationship. It wasn’t rushed; it was messy, honest, tender, and so easy to root for. Reid is absolutely book boyfriend material 🥹🏒 and the way he treats Carina? Top tier. We all need a Reid in our lives.
And the found family vibes? Chaotic, hilarious, and full of love ❤️ The banter between the teammates and their partners was so fun, and it completely sold me on reading more from this world.
Thank you Luna Literary for the ARC in exchange for my honest review! ✨

He’s a professional goalie but couldn’t block catching feelings.

Grumpy X Grumpy Hockey Romance Goalie X Surgical Resident Accidental Pregnancy Mustache Ride Age-Gap (10 years) He Falls First Feral Cat (Gremlin) Spicy Gym & Balcony Scene
Hailey Rodger does it again. The banter in this book is absolutely top tier, the kind that has you grinning at your phone and highlighting half the dialogue because it’s just that good.
When a grumpy professional hockey goalie blows out his knee, the last person he expects to get under his skin is the brilliant, unshakable surgical resident who puts him back together.
I’ll be honest, accidental pregnancy isn’t usually a trope I gravitate toward, but this book handled it so well. It never felt forced or overly dramatic, and instead added another emotional layer to an already fantastic relationship.
Between the grumpy x grumpy dynamic, the top-tier banter, the fierce career-driven FMC, and a hockey goalie who falls first and falls hard, this book was addictive from start to finish. Add in a feral cat, found family vibes, and some very spicy moments and it’s an easy five-star read.

I couldn't put this book down. This is my first time reading this author, and I truly enjoyed the story. This is book 4 in the Colorado Storm series and I didn't feel lost, I simply feel encouraged to go back and read the first three because I loved their dynamics so much.
Dr. Carina Park is a badass, independent, brilliant orthopedic resident doctor who has a hard time asking for or receiving help. Reid Hutchinson is an NHL goalie, and they met when he was under the care of Carina's boss (she assisted through his surgery). But let me be clear: there was not ethical violation, because these two kind of disliked each other during Reid's rehabilitation, and reconnected later. Their situationship started as friends with benefits, but then turned into an accidental pregnancy. Reid was an amazing support system for Carina when she felt lost, scared, or overwhelmed, and she and baby became his family soon after they started dating. This story touches topics of grief, with an on-page lost, and also difficult family dynamics with the loose depiction of a distant mother.
Carina and Reid became everything they never had growing up and also what they did have in a very beautiful, profound way. The scenes with baby and their friends were the sweetest, they are just one big happy family. I completely loved the plot and the caracters in this story and will definitely continue reading more from the author.
““I’m not very good at pretending there’s not something here,” she admits quietly. “Good,” I reply, inching my head closer. “Neither am I.””
Over the Line | Hailey Rodger | Colorado Storm #4
Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5, 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
““You’ve been seeing me when I didn’t even know how to let myself be seen.” My hands curl into his shirt, fingers digging in. “I’ve spent my whole life trying to earn space, trying to be useful enough to deserve it. To be remembered and loved, and you just—” My voice breaks. “Gave it to me.” “Because you’ve given me everything, baby.” His eyes are glassy now. “And I want to give you the f*cking world.””
Read this if you love: accidental pregnancy | age gap | pierced MMC | strangers to lovers | found family | hockey romance | grumpy goalie x grumpy surgeon | he falls first
“Shut up a minute,” he rasps. “I need to make a proper mess of you.”
I am a puddle on the floor for Reid Hutchison. When this man fell, he fell hard. All of the little things he does for Carina are so swoony and unexpected. I’ve read every book in this series, but this one is going to stay with me for a while. There is great banter and spice. There are many heartfelt moments while still showing us the chaos of the entire group. I just know I’m not ready to leave the Storm behind.
Thank you @haileyrodger.writes and @lunaliterary.management for the eARC. I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.
