Retired Army 1st Sgt. Zane Blackthorne wants to visit his fallen brother-in-arms’ sweet hometown in Vermont. When he looks up Joe’s sweetheart, Karla, he’s unprepared for the sparks that fly. She’s beautiful, smart, and incredibly heroic for all she’s had to go through. He fights his feelings for her to honor his friend but it’s getting harder and harder the more time they spend together. He knows she’d never love him like she loved Joe, but his heart doesn’t listen to him. Can he walk away from the only place he’s felt at home, in her arms?
Home in Your Arms is a heartwarming romance you’ll curl up to on a cold evening. The plot has perfect pacing without rushing the romance. The characters are so lovable, you’ll want to spend all your time with them.
I first met Karla in Charlotte O’Shay’s story, Forever in a Moment, and liked her immensely. She’s a prickly woman but it’s understandable, considering the loss she’s had to go through. But upon closer inspection, she wants what every woman wants: to be loved. Zach is the perfect partner for Karla and I loved reading their love story.
Fans of feel-good romances as seen on the Hallmark Channel will love this story.
This is book two in The Deerbourne Inn Duology and it is Zane and Karla’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Zane is now out of the military service and was going to Deerbourne Inn in Willow Springs after hearing so much about it from Joe who served with him but one night cost Joe everything including his life so Zane decided to go and spend some time there. Karla owned The Stone Hearth Tavern and she loved working there but after Joe died she has struggled every day. Zane decides to go and see Karla as Joe loved her so much that he always talked about her but what Zane didn't expect was his reaction when he does see Karla for the first time. Will Zane and Karla be able to get through everything that has happened and get a chance of being together or will it all fall apart. Wow this story was really emotional and I couldn't put it down and I had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next and it was so addictive. Charlotte O'shay is an amazing author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will definitely not be disappointed.
Wow! wow! wow! I didn’t think I would say it- but I love this book, “Home in your Arms” as much as I did the first in the series. I devoured each page from start to finish. I love how this exceptionally written book not only met my expectations but exceeded them. The way this author brings emotion and life to each character and each page had this reader hooked from the start. The characters are in depth with a richness that made this reader connect to their journey. I also love how family and friends are a part of Karla and Zane’s story. This support is shown through all the emotions of the characters as they handle joy, sadness, grief, trust, wonder, and acceptance. Karla and Zane make a very unique and compelling couple. Both are highly independent, intelligent, protective, and coping. As they find a connection, friendship, and safety with one another, their relationship deepens. “Home in your Arms” is part of the Deerbourne Inn series and very much worth the read!
I read the original story almost five years ago and I loved Zane and Karla. This is a beautifully told story of how Zane and Karla get a second chance at love, after Karla loses her fiancé, Joe, to a hit and run driver, while he’s on leave and Zane married young and divorced. Zane was Joe’s senior NCO and they became friends. Joe was always talking about Willow Springs, Vermont, his hometown. When Zane leaves the service, he visits and tries to decide what his future will be. Zane and Karla are attracted to each other, but will they act on it or will Zane move for his new job? This new version was just as enjoyable and made me fall in love with them more. I won’t leave any spoilers because everyone should get to find out what happens on their own. Do yourself a favor and see if you don’t love this book as much as I do.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
This was my first time reading this author and I adored this book. It had all the feels <3 This is Karla and Zane's story. Karla loses the love of her life in a tragic accident only just returning from his Army service and Karla gives up on ever wanting or finding love again. Karla instead puts all her blood, sweat and tears into her tavern which is booming, never thinking she will have someone to love again. 5 years later Zane decides to make a trip to Joe's small home town. Zane was Joe's buddy and mate in the Army, they served together so he decided he needed to pay his respects to Joe's hometown and find Karla, what he doesn't expect is to have feelings emerge for his buddys sweetheart. This was a steamy second chance at love which I adored!
We all want a place to call home, and home is where the heart is. Zane didn’t know what it ment until he met Karla after leaving the service. Live and lost Karla never thought she find love again until Zane stumbled into her life. Beautiful and emotional story about love, loss and possibilities.
