A grumpy warlock with too many rules. A cellist on sabbatical. And one island full of magic she’s not supposed to notice.

After nine months of nonstop touring, all I want is quiet—time to visit my sister in Magnolia Cove, drink coffee on her porch, and remember why I fell in love with music in the first place. What I’m not looking for? Dean Markham. The town’s intimidating council leader who radiates authority, scowls like it’s an Olympic sport… and just so happens to be in charge of approving my extended stay.

From the moment he catches me in his arms (and I sneeze in his face—great first impression), it’s clear Dean thinks I’m trouble. Which is fine. Because I think he’s bossy, broody, and allergic to fun.

But the longer I’m here, the more I see the man under all that control—the one who protects this island with everything he has, who looks at me like I’m more dangerous than any magic he’s ever faced. And maybe I am. Because the closer we get, the harder it is to ignore that our connection is as impossible as it is undeniable.

In Magnolia Cove, rules exist for a reason. Breaking them could cost us everything… but for him, I just might risk it.

Noel grew up with her nose buried in the worlds of Anne Shirley and Elizabeth Bennet, falling for Gilbert Blythe and Mr. Darcy long before she knew what "dreamy literary hero" even meant. Now, she channels that same love of romance and banter into her own cozy, feel-good stories filled with music, baked goods, and a pinch of magic.

When she’s not writing, Noel can usually be found reading her way through stacks of romance and fantasy novels, listening to Hozier and Fleetwood Mac, or hiking through fairy tale forests. She believes life is always better with a sprinkle of fairy dust, a perfect cinnamon roll, and a HEA.

Disclosure: I received an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of this book in exchange for an honest review. As someone who loves supporting indie authors, I always aim to share thoughtful, fair feedback. While I have personal reading preferences like a love for fantasy, horses, or specific tropes, I never let that impact my rating unless it is relevant to the book’s intent or audience. I review with the genre and readership in mind. Thank you Netgalley for the copy!

I used to be a musician so just by the title and the cover I had to pick up the book. As usual I didn't read the description before diving in, so I had some really pleasant, lovely surprises through the way!

You will be in for a very cozy story, healing from stress and from being slightly a people pleaser. Huge expectations are very badly crushing, that is exactly what the FMC struggles with, so she escapes to a small town. There is some instant attraction and very rapidly growing love in this story. What surprised me is the magic! This is a witchy, magical cozy romance, I loved the idea and it was pretty well executed.

The side characters might be familiar for some people as this is book three, but can be read as a standalone. You will absolutely benefit from reading the other books, it will really make your experience better, but you will not be confused and left in the dark if you decide to read this as standalone.

I loved the depth with the music, the language was absolutely correct and appropriate, I could tell the author did really good research or they are a musician themselves. Sometimes the music lover descriptions were a bit overused, I felt like more balance was needed with them, but really, the writing was absolutely great.

The romance was really sweet and I was so happy both characters got a really lovely ending that not only helped them find their soulmate but also fix some family drama. This is exactly what I expect from a cozy witchy romance!

My favorite quote:
"Love means..." My voice emerges rough, like I've forgotten how to shape words that matter. "I think it means seeing someone as they truly are and loving them exactly for that. And maybe it means doing what's best for them, even when it's difficult for you. And I think your sister has that for you, Missy."

3.5⭐

Missy is a musician who's become burned out from touring and performing, no longer feeling the same love for music she once had. She decides to visit her sister Alex in Magnolia Cove, where magic is hidden from humans. Dean is the warlock responsible for keeping everything in order and ensuring that magic stays contained. He's also closed off, still haunted by an incident with his sister that left him feeling guilty and unwilling to let others in. But when Missy arrives, there's something about her that makes it hard for him to stay away.

The author weaves in musical metaphors that fit seamlessly with the story. They bring the story to life and show the characters' shared connection to music. Missy and Dean's chemistry is palpable from the start (sometimes even literally). Dean's magic settled whenever she was near, and Missy felt more creative whenever she thought of him. Yet, both have responsibilities and paths they can't easily ignore. I've always been a fan when one MC can break down the walls of the other MC. We get to see who they truly are when they're with someone who brings out their happiness, and that's what Missy does for Dean. Everyone in the community can see the positive influence she has on the grumpy warlock they've grown used to.

Because it was a shorter story, there wasn't much room for Missy and Dean's relationship to develop at a slower pace. It was a little too insta-lovey, but the rest of the story made up for it.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

''I meet Dean's dark eyes, his soft smile, that rare thing he offers only to me. And it strikes me - that's the magic of a truly great song. Once it finds its harmony, it doesn't just resonate, it lingers, timeless and unforgettable.''

This makes me want to go back and read the other books in this series, but it also completely works as a stand-alone.
What a sweet book! I enjoyed getting to know the characters and the magical small town!
Missy is feeling the pressure of needing to be perfect for her career and her sister. She feels stuck in her world of relative fame and obligated to keep it up for her stage partner. Will a break in a small town help her find her spark?
Dean feels the weight of responsibility, keeping the town's magic in check, and a secret from the non magic world off the island. He also has some unresolved family drama that he should probably come to terms with!
Their grumpy/sunshine dynamic was fun, and I enjoyed how the author wove music into the story.
This book has a relaxed pace and only a little tension around whether they'll figure their stuff and themselves out. It felt pretty cozy to me which I enjoyed!
This book was received as an ARC through NetGalley. Thank you!

Thank you to Victory Editing Publishers, Noel Bailey, and NetGalley for the ARC — and for continuing to uplift indie authors like Noel! 💌
As a former musician, I’ll admit — the title Strings Attached instantly plucked at my heartstrings (pun very much intended 🎻). I didn’t even bother reading the blurb before diving in. I saw “music,” “romance,” and “pretty cover,” and that was enough for me. And honestly? I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this isn’t just a cozy small-town romance — it’s sprinkled with magic! Think warm tea, flickering candles, soft cello notes, and the faint scent of enchantment in the air.
We meet Missy, a world-touring cellist who’s reached that “burned out but too polite to quit” stage of life (relatable). She’s spent years chasing perfection and everyone else’s expectations until the music that once brought her joy starts to feel like pressure. So, she does what any self-respecting FMC does — flees to a small, idyllic town for a little peace and self-reflection. Enter Magnolia Cove: where secrets are magical, the locals are charmingly nosy, and the town warlock might just be your next-door neighbor.
And that warlock? Dean. Brooding. Serious. Possibly allergic to smiling. Head warlock of Magnolia Cove and owner of the biggest emotional walls I’ve ever seen. Their meet-cute had me cackling — Missy trips, Dean catches her, and then she sneezes directly in his face. It’s clumsy, awkward, and somehow still adorable. From that moment on, I was invested.
The relationship between Missy and Dean unfolds softly, like a gentle crescendo. It’s not fiery passion but rather that slow, steady warmth that sneaks up on you. There’s a sweetness in their connection — two people learning to breathe again, rediscovering joy, and realizing that love doesn’t have to come at the cost of self.
One of my favorite quotes sums up the emotional heart of the story:
“Love means seeing someone as they truly are and loving them exactly for that.”
It’s simple, but it hit me right in the chest. That’s really what this story is about — love, in all its messy, healing, transformative glory.
The magical elements were a delightful surprise. They never overpower the story but add a whimsical sparkle to the emotional beats. The writing itself was lovely, with some truly lyrical moments that made me pause and reread. As someone who used to perform, I deeply appreciated how authentically Bailey wrote about music — the language, the emotional connection, even the exhaustion that comes with living for your art. I found myself nodding along, thinking, “Ah, yes. This author gets it.”
My only small critique? I wanted just a bit more depth and tension in the middle. Some conflicts resolved a little too neatly, and the third-act breakup — while understandable — felt like it came out of nowhere. I literally muttered, “Dean, my dude, communicate!” But thankfully, he redeems himself with a grand gesture that made me smile like a fool.
Overall, Strings Attached is the kind of book that feels like a soft blanket on a rainy day — warm, cozy, a little magical, and full of heart. If you love small-town romances with a touch of witchy charm, strong emotional arcs, and a grumpy/sunshine pairing that just works, this one’s for you.
Tropes & Vibes:
✨ Grumpy x Sunshine (with witchy flair)
🎻 Musician FMC + Warlock MMC
🏡 Small Town + Found Family
💞 Cozy Magic + Emotional Healing
📖 Minimal spice, maximum heart
Another quote that stuck with me:
“Maybe the strings that tie us down are the same ones that help us play our song.”
That line alone earned it a solid 4 stars from me. Beautiful, comforting, and full of charm — Strings Attached hit just the right notes.

ARC Review:

Thank you so much to the publisher and netgalley for the chance at reading this book, it was honestly just what I needed. Such a sweet, light hearted and warming story.

This story follows Missy who is an incredibly talented cellist who finds herself in a bit of a rut. She decides to take some annual leave to Magnolia cove to try and figure out what she wants from life. And of course she stumbles into the grumpy head of council Warlock Dean who can I say sounds like a CUTIE.

Their attraction is unmatched from the get go but Dean’s past decisions have made him reluctant to get close to anyone. But when he finally lets his walls down and gets close to Missy their connection is just *chef’s kiss*.

I loved how Missy brought tranquility to the all the magic surrounding her especially when it came to Dean. This was such a sweet story of finally putting yourself first instead of being what everyone else wants you to be. As well as showing up for the people in your life who’s most important.

The banter between the main characters was brilliant and I actually loved how well they communicated their feelings to one another.

This was such a sweet autumnal story, with amazing characters and a lovely magical story line. Such a quick easy read and if you know me you know I love everything that’s small town coded.

Definitely going to go back and read the first two books on this series for sure!🫶🏻

“This is what I was searching for all those years on stage—not the perfect performance, but genuine connection. Not technical precision, but real magic.”

This is such a lovely story and one I’ve been waiting for since book 1.

I think this story meant so much to me because it reflected my own story a bit (besides the grouchy warlock). My parents sacrificed a lot for a better life and gave me opportunities they have never had, and I felt such guilt that I dropped out of university for my mental health. Just like Missy, after talking with my closest I did choose my own personal growth over academic/career.

Dean over came such changes. From being put in a tough decision because of his power to choosing being open and vulnerable after years of having to be closed off from everyone.

Magnolia Cove is the perfect blend of Cody and magical small town island. It’s a place where the characters learn from the past and the magic leads them to where they are meant to be.

4.5 out of 5 stars!

"The music still matters--but somewhere along the way, I lost the part of myself that used to come alive when I played." - Missy

Being on tour for nine months is not for the weak! Missy thought she wanted it but after being under those hot stage lights and non-stop moving from one location to the next she wants a breather! A chance to get away from all her fans, managers, and her violinist who's eager to keep going onto the next thing. A small town in the middle of nowhere with her sister and future brother-in-law seems like the perfect getaway.

Until she finds out that she has to apply for an extended residency permit with the council of the town?! And of course, the one she's supposed to be appealing to is the one with a scowl that could put any of her former Julliard professors to shame! Even still something about this town resonates with her and she may just be rethinking her future plans. Not to mention the little rush she gets when she manages to break through Dean's scowling face.

"I'm Head Warlock here--part political figure, part magical janitor. Depends on the day." - Dean

I came into this series a book late, need to read Alex's story! Some slight spoilers but nothing major, more like enticing little treats to go back and read the first book of the series. After having met Dean in book two and getting little glimpses of him I wanted to read his story! So, I was excited to find out the next book starred Dean and I ended up reading it in one night.

Everyone knows about burnout or has felt it. And I think for creative people it hits a bit harder. Not discounting anyone's burnout at all because it stinks regardless! But for creative people it feels like a part of your soul is missing and unreachable. I've had comments and praise for my artistic talents, but I always felt like there was a glass wall between me and my work. Yes, I have the talent, but I didn't have the passion. Recently I've found that passion and I'm holding onto it and chasing it with everything I've got.

All this to say that when burnout hits, set things down for a moment. Try something new and maybe something you would've never believed you'd ever see yourself doing. Like playing a cello in the middle of an intense storm with no electricity in the building. (This book is fiction be mindful of your safety!) Missy is on the search for her passion and that need to play for herself. Not for her violinist, her fans, her managers, etc. She's finding that this town is more than it seems and something in her is synchronizing with it. Creating a harmony that showcases her personality and soul.

Dean has his walls way up and puts duty before anything else. Keeping his distance majority of the time and only stepping forward when necessary. But Missy seems to cause his feet to move into her orbit on their own accord. He finds it harder and harder to remain scowling in some dark corner when she's present. She also doesn't back down or break under his scowl. She seems to be able to see right through his well-kept facade to his core. Only Missy is a non-magic user and a human. One who will also be leaving soon. Another battle begins as he tries to remain focused.

Read through the Author's Notes on what lies within the book. This is a lighthearted read with cozy fall feels and a nice smalltown. There are moments that are heavy but nothing too intense. There's some very mild language but nothing over the top. Healing moments and unconditional love. The author spoils us with a playlist to listen to and a recipe for cookies at the very back! For me, the read does start out a little slow and I felt like some things were repetitive.

"Was that a compliment? Careful, Dean. I think you're warming up to me." - Missy

"You don't make it easy to stay cold." - Dean

We have a slow burn romance with instant attraction and chemistry. Dean's magic may have also become a little odd when Missy was nearby. I enjoyed the banter between the two and the internal struggles. Dual POVs helping to showcase their hesitations and more. Fade to black romance. I also really loved the bets and the innerworkings of the town that were happening in the background. Unbeknownst to the reader/the MCs, unless you grew up in a smalltown and or have siblings.

We get an HEA for the main couple! I loved all the characters and the ones presented later in the story. There's definitely more to come for this town and I'm ready for it! I will also one of these days go back and read Alex's story! I need to become immortal so I can get through my TBR! I also really want to see more of Grammie Rae! I was laughing a lot and thinking that she's practically the spirit guide for the town's residents.

Do enjoy the read with Autumn vibes, secret magic/magical smalltown, a cozy forbidden romance, and beautiful music! Don't forget to give the author some stars!

Tropes: Magical, Cozy Small Town Romance, Meet Cute, Strangers to Lovers, Grumpy x Sunshine, Found Family, Miscommunication, Third-Act Breakup

I was so, so excited for this book. Cozy small town romance vibes with magical elements? Umm, yes please! I am devouring all of those books right now. Throw in a grumpy and sunshine dynamic and I am hooked. I have not read the other books in this series, and although it is not required, I would definitely recommend it. You will connect with the side characters more and get to know the quaint town of Magnolia Cove better.

Missy is our FMC. She is a world traveling cellist who comes to Magnolia Cove to visit her sister. She is having a hard time connecting with her music and needs a break. Dean is our MMC, the town head warlock (though Missy does not know that), who has family issues and is overall Grumpy with an intense Scowl. I loved their meet cute. Missy has just gotten off the ferry and is heading into town when she trips and Dean catches her. Then she sneezes in his face. But it is still super magical and cute! Immediately, these two are smitten with each other. Missy sees right through his grumpy facade and starts to break down all his barriers.

I loved the magical elements of this novel, and I wish I had read the other books first to really connect with the town and its magical aspects. I think that would have elevated the reading experience for me, but that is on me.

I did find that their relationship was almost too easy in the beginning, which I do not mind if it is done well. Meaning they would share their histories, past experiences, and be honest with each other. But these two are not fully truthful from the start and keep their relationship secret. Dean avoids talking about his family like the plague (which is a major reason for their third act breakup), and Missy avoids her musician partner, Jules, and pretends her previous life does not exist. I mean, what did she expect? She avoids all her responsibilities for months, and of course everything is going to come crashing down. And when it does, the foundation these two built crumbles instantly. There seems to be no trust between these two at all.

Then the third act breakup. Looking back as I write this review, I suppose I should have seen it coming. But while reading, everything seemed to be going well and I did not expect it at all. The reasoning felt a little weak. I wanted Dean to fight for her! Like, come on—why was it that easy? Ahh, that whole part frustrated me. But fear not, we do of course get our happily ever after, and I think these two experienced some mild character growth as well.

Overall, I wanted more substance from this cozy small town romance, but I did enjoy the magical elements and the found family vibes.

He’s all rules and rituals…she’s a melody that refuses to be silenced.

Missy, struggling musician, and people pleaser is unhappy, unsatisfied and has no idea what to do next. That’s how she winds up in Magnolia Cove, to spend a much needed break away with her sister before figuring out what to do with her life. Magnolia Cove has all the magic and wonder she could want..

What she didn’t expect was Dean Markham.

Dean, the Grumpy,Bossy, Brooding and Intimidating Head Warlock was not at all what Missy was looking for.. or so she thought.

The attraction is immediate. But Dean has rules. And he’s made it clear that he is not willing to break them. That was until he met Missy.

3.5 ⭐️

This was such a cozy, heartwarming read that hit me right in the feels. It’s part small-town romance, part magical escape, and at its heart, it’s about two people learning how to open themselves up again.

Dean, who we briefly met in Magnolia Cove book one, finally gets his own story here—and wow, what a transformation. He’s the classic grumpy, closed-off hero with the weight of the world on his shoulders. As the head warlock, his whole life revolves around protecting his community and keeping their magic hidden. Enter Missy, a world-famous cellist on sabbatical, who comes to visit her sister and ends up colliding with Dean’s carefully ordered world. I loved how her music intertwined with the Cove’s magic—it was whimsical and added such a beautiful layer to the story.
The romance itself was very sweet. Dean’s walls start crumbling little by little, and Missy learns to rethink what she truly wants out of life. Their chemistry was tender, soft, and surprisingly moving, even with Dean’s rough edges. There’s a bit of the classic “I’ll break your heart to save you” angst, but it resolves quickly with a grand gesture that had me smiling.

What I enjoyed:
✨ Small-town + magical vibes
✨ Grumpy warlock MMC who finally softens
✨ Sweet, emotional romance (with minimal spice)
✨ Themes of burnout, responsibility, and rediscovering joy

My only critique is that some plot turns were predictable, but honestly? The sincerity of the characters more than made up for it. I adored how Missy challenged Dean, not just romantically but in how he viewed his role in the community. It turned him from a character I wasn’t sure about in book one into someone I really rooted for.

Final Thoughts:
This was a sweet, low-angst, feel-good romance with just enough magic to make it sparkle. Perfect if you want something cozy, emotional, and uplifting without being heavy on spice. It can be read as a standalone, but I think it shines even more if you’ve read the first Magnolia Cove book.

Thank you NetGalley & Noel Bailey for the ARC 💌

Arc reader review!!

I absolutely LOVE when a beautiful cover matches what’s in between the pages of a book. This was the perfect comfy, cozy, pumpkin spice and everything nice read and It gave me all the fall vibes I was looking for. Noel did such a beautiful job bringing these characters and Magnolia Cove to life and I really enjoyed her play on the magical realism found throughout. Even though this was less than 200 pages it packed a really nice punch and overall left me thoroughly satisfied… and hungry for sweet treat! Luckily there’s a cookie recipe at the end of the book which I can not wait to try my hand at 🙌🏽

Our FMC Missy is a musician struggling to keep her dream alive within herself. She’s a people pleaser who’s spent her life doing what she believes she needs to in order to keep the ones closest to her happy. But she’s unhappy, unsatisfied, and unsure what to do next which is how she ends up in Magnolia Cove to spend a sabbatical before her next tour with her sister. This quant city is full of the magic and wonder she’s been missing that helps to reignite her flame… insert our broody MMC, Dean.
Just call him your local councilman warlock and he’s always behind the scenes calling the shots and saving the day but never accepting the credit. I absolutely LOVED Dean and his poor tortured heart! He’s the perfect example of how we can dig into our minds so thoroughly we forget what really matters life. Love and forgiveness were huge themes here and I truly enjoyed how both our characters grew throughout the story. They were so cute together.
I loved the blend of music and magic, it made for a truly beautiful story! I also loved the incorporation of all the different townspeople… especially Missy’s sister Alex and all the sweet treats her and her husband made 🤤

🌎 Setting: Magnolia Cove

Summary: Missy comes home to Magnolia Cove after being on tour for years. She has lost her love of playing and wants to visit her sister Alex. Dean has protected Magnolia Cove for over a decade but when he meets Missy he is forced to choose between duty and love.

🤔 My Thoughts: Dean and Missy made great music together. Missy felt a great responsibility to Alex who sacrificed for her to go to Juilliard. Jules was her concert partner but seemed to want more from Missy. When Jules came to town Dean was jealous and scared Missy would leave him. Dean felt a responsibility to Magnolia Cove with the council to decide who stayed/visited and who knew about magic. Quick Summary: A harmonious love romance

My Review: Stings Attached by Noel Bailey is book #3 in the Magnolia Cove Magic series. It was released on 10/15/25.

About the Book: "A grumpy warlock with too many rules. A cellist on sabbatical. And one island full of magic she’s not supposed to notice."

In My Own Words: A professional musician who has a discordant life escapes to Magnolia Cove, where she eventually finds a melodious relationship with a grumpy warlock.

About the Characters/Conflict: Both leads were surviving, but they were not living. They each had an unsettling within them that made them unhappy, in a sense. I loved how the magic of being in Magnolia Cove (same place, same time) allowed them to "see" what they each really wanted and needed to be happy. I also loved that they were willing to consider the possibilities together.

My Final Say: This fast-paced, slow burn romance was whimsical and magical. Missy and Dean were like magnets, post their initial bumpy start. I loved how they unfolded themselves with each other. The added bonus with this installment was being able to learn more about the residents in this quaint community.

I am very much looking forward to the next story in the series, which was mentioned at the end.

Other: Readers who enjoy Grumpy versus Sunshine tropes, opposites attract relationships, magical tales, and small town communities where unity is key may like this book.

Strings Attached is a beautifully magical and heartfelt romantasy set in the enchanting town of Magnolia Cove. I originally picked up this book as an ARC through BookSirens, not quite knowing what to expect. But from the very first page, I was completely drawn in — so much so that I immediately went back to read the first two books in the series just to experience more of this charming world.

One of the highlights of this book for me was finally getting to know Dean Markham, the broody and mysterious head warlock I’d been curious about since book one. Dean is grumpy, rule-bound, and deeply devoted to protecting Magnolia Cove, but there’s so much more beneath that stern exterior — and Noel Bailey peels back those layers perfectly.

Then there’s Molly, a strong and relatable protagonist whose sabbatical journey brings her not only back to herself and her love for music, but also straight into Dean’s orbit. I loved watching her navigate this magical town she’s not supposed to notice, all while challenging Dean’s rigid rules and uncovering the real man behind the authority.

The chemistry between Dean and Molly is undeniable, and their slow-burn romance — filled with secret longing, powerful growth, and impossible choices — was everything I hoped for and more. Bailey’s writing style is engaging and easy to follow, making this story accessible even for readers who don’t usually pick up romantasy. And with its wonderful cast of side characters and rich town history, Magnolia Cove quickly wraps itself around your heart.

Strings Attached is a captivating read that blends romance, magic, and character growth beautifully. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend starting the series from the beginning — you might just fall in love with Magnolia Cove as much as I did.

“I’ve thought a lot about what you said, and I’ve decided I like records, even if the melody doesn’t perfectly capture the moment. Some songs do last forever. And this?” He gestures between us. “It’s the most important melody I’ve ever known.”

Rating: ✨✨✨✨✨ /5

You know the phrase, ‘be careful what you wish for’? Well Missy’s wishes do come true, and the pressure that comes with it sucks every ounce of happiness from what should have been a fairytale come true for her. 🎻

The perfect cure? Running away to visit your sister in the most whimsical town you could ever step foot in. The change in pace and kindhearted community is EXACTLY what Missy needs to reignite her passion for music, just… not in the way she expected. 🎶

The magic in their love story isn’t the kind that’s quick and all consuming, it sneaks up on them and wraps around them like a comforting hug. Rebuilding bonds and healing their insecurities together by following the melody of their hearts, falling in love with not just each other but with life and all the little wonders that come with it. 💫

If you’re itching for an escape to a town filled with the loveliest characters, and a cozy atmosphere then I absolutely recommend visiting Magnolia Cove. They’re all interconnected standalone so if you’re not looking to commit to a series you could read any one book and stop there, but I personally will be going back to check out the previous stories in Magnolia Cove as well as those to come!

Eternally grateful to have had the opportunity to devour this book early via BookSirens, thank you so much 🥰

Strings Attached by Noel Bailey is a captivating and heartfelt novel that expertly weaves together themes of love, vulnerability, and personal growth. From the very first page, Bailey’s writing pulls you into a world rich with emotional depth and relatable characters whose journeys feel both authentic and compelling.

What stood out most in this story was the way Bailey handles the complexities of relationships—the delicate balance between trust and fear, connection and independence. The characters are well-developed and flawed in a way that makes them feel real, which only deepens the emotional stakes. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the romantic tension builds naturally throughout the narrative, keeping me invested in their evolving dynamic.

The pacing is well-managed, striking a nice balance between moments of introspection and scenes of meaningful action and dialogue. The author’s prose is polished yet accessible, making the book a smooth and engaging read.

If I were to note a slight drawback, it would be that some plot points felt a bit predictable at times. However, the warmth of the characters and the sincerity of their interactions more than made up for this.

Overall, Strings Attached is a beautifully told story about navigating love with honesty and courage. It’s a perfect pick for readers who appreciate romance with emotional complexity and characters who feel like real people. I’m looking forward to reading more from Noel Bailey in the future.

I’ll admit it, I’m very guilty of judging a book by its cover, and I definitely did that here. Luckily, this story absolutely delivered! From the start, Magnolia Cove pulled me in with its fall atmosphere, crisp air, magical secrets, and that small-town charm that makes you want to curl up with a blanket and never leave.

I especially loved how beautifully the author wove in the musical references. They added so much heart and depth to the main characters without ever feeling cheesy. Missy’s burnout and her constant pull toward people-pleasing felt so real and relatable. Paired with Dean, a broody, rule-loving warlock, the tension and chemistry were spot on. Their slow-burn connection was the kind of romance you can’t help but cheer for.

It’s a closed-door romance, but that didn’t make the story any less enjoyable. If anything, it kept the focus on the characters’ growth and chemistry. The whole book is an easy, comforting read, and while the plot is predictable, it’s in the best, most satisfying way.

I haven’t read the previous two books in the series, but this one worked perfectly as a standalone. That said, I’ll definitely be going back and picking up the first two now, I need more of this world!

If you’re looking for a magical, autumn-inspired escape with music at its core, this one is well worth adding to your TBR.

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for a chance to read this adorable ARC.

Once again, Noel Bailey has made me fall in love with another couple in Magnolia Cove. And this time… it’s a grumpy x sunshine trope! I freaking ate this one up. I love how beautiful the writing is. The entire Magnolia Cove series shows such a wholesome kind of love, whether it’s friendship or romantic or family love. I hope she never stops introducing us to the pocket community’s residents. I can’t get enough. And spoiler alert, I think I can resonate with some of the island’s newest residents. *wink wink*

Special thank you to Book Sirens, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to devour this book early in the form of an eARC in exchange for an honest review. I will keep coming back and I will keep singing Noel Bailey’s praises, simply because her books are so good.

Melissa “Missy” Sinclair has had it with life on the road. A Julliard graduate and uber-successful celloist, Missy is ready to take a break. That break leads her to the magical pocket community of Magnolia Cove where her sister lives and is planning her upcoming wedding. From the minute Missy steps into Magnolia Cove, she feels a relief. Away from the hustle and bustle, expectations, and controlling duet partner. When she trips, literally, into the bureaucrat Dean Markham, she’s determined to make the grumpy man smile. She didn’t expect that her mission will lead her to an even sweeter reward. Pick up “Strings Attached” when it’s released in October 2025. You won’t regret it.

So we return to Magnolia Cove with Alex’s sister, Missy who is taking a sabbatical from performing on tour as a Cellist. She does everything for everyone else and needs time to figure herself out and what she really wants to do with her life. She loves her music but doesn’t feel like she’s fully connected to the music as she should be, plus she is feeling slightly controlled by her duo partner, Jules who is pushing for her to keep touring and performing

Meanwhile, over in Magnolia Cove the towns grumpy warlock, Dean Markham is struggling with his own issues about something he did in the past with his magic, which lost him his sister’s trust and friendship.
He also feels the struggle of his responsibility protecting the town

As Missy arrives in Magnolia Cove, Dean is there to greet her but she tumbles and literally falls into his arms. Some sort of electricity sparks between them but Dean knows it is wrong to even think about being with a non-magical human, but after all, this is where the magic lives and the music Missy brings with her seems to make the magic dance. Could there be something there between Mr Grumpy and Miss Sunshine?

You can’t help but love all the characters and the way the music is written into the story so beautifully done

I love to keep coming back to Magnolia Cove and can’t wait for the next Love instalment 💗

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC! This book was flat out brilliant! While the story is self-contained, it’s one of those rare series books that makes me instantly regret not starting at Book 1. The magical town of Magnolia Cove is so rich with its own folklore that I just know the first two books would have cemented my love for this unique world.

If you’re into blending second-chance energy with a high-stakes forced proximity scenario, this book is for you! It’s perfect for enemies-to-lovers fans. We have Missy, the musician seeking quiet time, and Dean, the town’s formidable head warlock, who is all about control and rules.

I found two things truly beautiful about their dynamic. Firstly, despite her seeing him as bossy and him seeing her as a troublemaker, they both look past surface impressions. She sees the man under the control, and he sees her as something more dangerous than any magic he’s ever faced, recognising her powerful inherent value! The fact that their getting closer could cost them everything elevates the beauty of their choice to risk it all.

The novel perfectly matches the autumn atmosphere we crave. I’m always looking for a seasonal read, and this is 100% a success! It focuses on deep healing and reconciliation, providing a beautiful, inner warmth and cosiness ideal for fireside reading as the nights draw in. Perfect!!

I think this might just be my favourite Mangolia cove book so far! I got this amazing ARC book on booksirens.

It is the perfect mix of slow burn and swoon worthy romance. And the way every storyline hits a little close to home is beautiful. They all show the ups and downs of relationships and how different things make life struggles. Mix that with a bit of magic and you have mangolia cove.

They are my favourite cozy comfort reads and I can not wait for the next book to arrive!

This book follows the sunshine that is Missy and the Complete hard ass grumpy bum that is Dean. And their love story had me KICKING MY FEET AND SQUEALING. I love them so much.

I love how all the books in this series are Guaranteed happy ever after. Full of surprises and twists and turns that leave your heart wrenching long enough that it feels real then wrapping it up in the most perfect ways.

It shows that with a bit of love magic and perseverance, love is forever possible. It gives way for hopes and dreams to bloom.

This is the perfect cozy romance, Curl up with a good cozy drink, and dive into the world that is so much more than meets the eye. And within the pages you too might find a little bit of magic, just like Me.

4.5 ⭐️ (rounded up)

Wow, this book was an absolute joy to read. The author's writing style is beautiful, weaving musical terms and analogies throughout the book. Both of the main characters (and honestly the side characters as well) are so endearing and I absolutely love the "chick flick/romcom but with magic" vibe of this series. The island & town that the story takes place in is whimsical, picturesque and downright magical. The fall vibes are also absolutely immaculate in this story, making it the perfect autumn read for readers who love romance, magic, music and a cozy fall read.

I will say that the story felt predicable at times, but I enjoyed the writing, characters and setting so much that truthfully that didn't bother me. This is also a graphic spice-free read but that doesn’t in any way mean the romance, tension or yearning are lacking in any way.

I will absolutely be picking up the other books in this series and recommend it to all of my reader friends. Perfect Fall read! Thank you so much to BookSirens and the author Noel Bailey for the opportunity to read this ARC of a Strings Attached!

Who would have thought that I’d completely fall in love with this town and devour everything written about Magnolia Cove? Every book in this series pulls me in deeper.
I adored seeing a whole new side of Head Warlock Dean Markham. Never thought I’d see a soft Dean! Protecting the town’s magic while letting non-magical people glimpse just enough is such a tiring, complex job, but the way he lights up every time Missy returns melted my heart.
And that little twist about Missy being a Resonant? Absolutely adorable. It tied everything together so beautifully.. they were truly made for each other.
I also loved how the story weaves in familiar faces from the first two books, reminding us why Magnolia Cove feels so special. I’m so invested in this town it honestly feels like I live there.
One of my favorite lines from the book perfectly captures its heart:
“Not the perfect performance, but genuine connection. Not the technical precision, but real magic.”
That quote sums up exactly why I love this series it’s all about heart, community, and the imperfect magic that binds people together.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Magical, Romantic, and Completely Enchanting

Strings Attached is everything I love about small-town romance with a dash of magic woven through. Noel Bailey captures the heart of Magnolia Cove perfectly—where charm, family, and a touch of enchantment create a world you never want to leave.

The characters are heartfelt and compelling, with relationships that feel genuine and emotions that hit just right. The romantic tension is beautifully balanced with the cozy, magical atmosphere, and the pacing keeps you hooked from page one. Even as the third book in the series, it stands strong on its own while rewarding readers who’ve followed the Cove from the beginning.

This story blends romance, whimsy, and emotional depth so well that it feels like stepping into a Hallmark movie—only better, with that special spark of magic. A five-star read I’ll happily revisit!

✨ Thank you to Noel Bailey, the publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book early. This has not affected my opinion in any way.

Strings Attached is one of those rare books that wraps around you like a cozy autumn blanket. Noel Bailey has such a gift for blending emotional depth with a touch of whimsy—you can almost hear the music flowing through every page. Missy’s journey from burnout to rediscovering joy felt so real and relatable, and Dean… oh, Dean. The perfect grumpy-meets-gentle hero. Their chemistry builds slowly, beautifully, and by the end I was completely smitten.

What I loved most is how the story balances soft romance with self-discovery. Magnolia Cove feels alive—filled with warmth, community, and just enough magic to make you believe in second chances. The writing is lyrical, the humor subtle and smart, and the emotional beats hit exactly right.

This book left me smiling, a little teary, and already missing the characters. If you love cozy magical towns, slow-burn romance, and stories about finding yourself again, Strings Attached will absolutely steal your heart.

Magnolia Cove is as charming as ever with Missy and Dean's story! These two have undeniable chemistry, and even though their situation was somewhat complicated, I found myself rooting for them from the very beginning.

Dean is your typical grumpy, black cat MMC that is incredibly endearing. His vulnerability with Missy as well as his family dynamic really add to his character; he's definitely one of my favorites.

I found Missy to be highly relatable - a perfectionist who can't stop pushing herself for the sake of not wanting to let anyone else down and never puts herself first? Where did the author get a description of me? Missy's growth throughout the read along with her quick wit made her and Dean's story all the more worthwhile.

There were a few instances where I found the conflict and its wording repetitive and I wish there was a little more depth to the actual magic system, but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless. Overall, a fantastic cozy read, perfect for the fall season!

Thank you to the author and BookSirens for the eARC :)
