Elemental Enforcers #1
Fire in My Blood
She can never be mine, but I’ll do anything to save her.
Erica
There’s a prisoner in the basement at work. He’s tall and gorgeous—and shackled to the wall like an animal. I’d bet my life he doesn’t belong behind bars. But what if I’m wrong?
Life has smacked me in the face and taught me not to trust. So why do I bring him water and share my worst nightmare with him? And why do I dream about him at night?
If he was transferred somewhere else, that would be the end of our story.
He isn’t. He’s shot. Five bullets destroy his sculpted chest. And that’s the beginning of our story.
But he’s extraordinary, and I’m nothing special. It’s only a question of time before my heart gets smashed to pieces.
Lucas
I can’t look away. This beautiful woman is everything I’ve ever wanted. And she offers me her help even though her eyes are wide with terror. Either she’s a superior actress, or she’s better than I deserve.
Her story makes me growl with rage and the fierce need to protect her. But without access to my fire element, I can’t break free of the thick manacles on my wrists in time to save her from the vampire hunting her.
And then I’m shot. Fatal wounds for an ordinary man.
But I’m not ordinary, and the only one I'll ever die for is her.
This work is intended for mature audiences. It contains explicit sexual situations and violence that some readers may find disturbing.

My relationship with this book started the moment I read, "There's a prisoner in the basement at work," and honestly, after that sentence there was no turning back. That's not a blurb. That's a threat.
One minute Erica is living her life, the next she's bringing water to a gorgeous shackled man and making decisions that would have every workplace safety officer screaming into a paper bag.
And look, I understood her completely.
Lucas was my favourite kind of paranormal hero. Loyal. Protective. Slightly feral. Absolutely gone for his woman from the moment she exists in his field of vision. The man got shot multiple times and somehow his main concern remained Erica. The dedication was both romantic and mildly concerning.
The chemistry between them was strong from the beginning, and I enjoyed watching their connection develop. There was plenty of tension, a decent amount of danger, and enough protective hero energy to keep me happily turning pages.
That said, while I enjoyed the romance, it didn't completely consume my soul. I kept waiting for that extra emotional punch that would have me staring dramatically into the distance thinking about these characters three days later. It came close a few times but never quite shoved me over the edge.
The pacing kept things moving nicely, though some parts felt a little predictable, and occasionally I found myself more interested in Lucas's devotion than the surrounding plot. Not a terrible problem to have, mind you.
Also, can we talk about the fact that Erica's life just continually says, "Things are bad," before immediately following it up with, "Actually, let's make them worse." That poor woman barely had a moment to breathe before another disaster wandered through the door.
Overall, this was a fun paranormal romance with a sweet but intense love story, a hero who was down catastrophically from the start, and enough action to stop things from getting too mushy. I enjoyed myself, I liked the characters, and I absolutely plan to continue the series.
3.75 stars.
Not quite a new obsession, but definitely an enjoyable start. And frankly, any book that opens with "there's a prisoner in the basement at work" deserves points for commitment to the chaos.

Lots of Spice but still a decent story
I was concerned about reading this book with only one review, because apart of me thought it was a scam. However the book was good. I read a book or two a week, so I have to say, I like that it is not an enemy-to-lover book. I am so sick of those. The writing and grammar were good, the story was short and to the point and again the spice was 5/5. I was able to read the book in about 4 hours and it was better than watching tv or youtube. I will be reading the next one tomorrow. I took off a point because of you are new to fantasy novels, it isn’t the greatest or super entertaining. However for someone like me looking for something different and tired of the same old same old, it was a nice change of pace.

Again, I prematurely judged this book and should have known better. After swallowing the original series whole, I was craving more when I happened upon the spin off series. I didn't think the premise of this sounded exciting but once I started it, I couldn't put it down!

Fire in My Blood
This was very entertaining and intriguing. A very welcome twist in the world of fated mates. I loved that despite the trauma, Erica could love again.

Sexy story
Good, but their relationship happened very fast! Not any buildup
before they were in love. Storyline was a little predictable as well.
