Will Delaney and Gracie Alexander are little more than acquaintances when fate lands them in same place at the same time. One drunken hookup later, they decide that the best course of action for all involved is to pretend it never happened.
Alicia Renee Kline has been a writer since she was old enough to hold a pencil. This hobby has evolved from writing out everything in spiral notebooks and scribbling out her mistakes to being armed with technology so that she can hide the fact that she doesn’t get everything right the first time.
In real life, she is a wife and mother of two daughters, two cats and two hamsters. She is a lifelong resident of Northeastern Indiana and works in the insurance industry.
Finally the story of Gracie Alexander and Will Delaney, what more is there to say. When I very first started with this series I wanted to know more about Gracie as I fell in love with her character. She is the crazy best friend, life of the party and has an AMAZING personality that everyone gets along with her. Will is the silent type where you are not sure what sort of person he is but as you read more about him you know Will has a kind heart and will help anyone.
Gracie Alexander is in her early twenties and works as a bank teller for a minimum wage. Gracie is best friends with Lauren and worked with her in the same bank until Lauren was transferred to a different branch. Gracie's parents divorced the moment she graduated from high school. Her parents stayed together for the sake of Gracie but little did they know that she knew what they were doing and did more damage than good. Lauren's dad becomes like her adopted father and is more of a parent then what her real parents are. With how Gracie grew up she doesn't really believe in real love, marriage or happily ever after but that all changes from a one night stand with the cop Will Delaney.
Will Delaney is a cop and is best friends with Chris. Will is the silent type and not many people know much about his personal life or really him as a person. The saying is you should really be careful of the quiet ones lol Will is in his mid thirties and is a divorcee with a teenage daughter. Will who is still crushed about his divorce is finding it hard to move on and trust any woman again and is finding himself most of the time at the bottom of a bottle. Until he meets one of the most fun loving beautiful girl's ever, Gracie. But under all of this he will do anything for his best friends, even if he doesn't know you really well. Just ask Lauren and Matthew.
Will and Gracie set out a friends with benefits relationship. Both keep it from there best friends and so far everything is going smoothly until Gracie gets an offer from Lauren and Blake she can't refuse. Gracie confides in Lauren's dad and tells him everything about her and Will. Gracie decides to make the move but what will happen between her and Will? Is the relationship between the two more than friends with benefits or does Will feel more for her then he is letting on? Can the two make it or will they break it?
Out of all the characters I really loved these two the best, these two felt more real either as a person or a couple. From the beginning to the end both had to find there way on there own and as a couple and find there way to each other again. Just a true love story from two different worlds.
Only thing I didn't like was in certain chapters I felt the story didn't flow and got a bit confused to what the character was either trying to say or the way it was described. I felt I had to read over it a couple of times to understand what was happening.
Other from that a fantastic story from this amazing author and can't wait to read more from Alicia!!!
Gracie is everyone's confidant. She gladly is but since her friends have gotten married and some had children she feels as if they are drifting apart. Will is trying to hold on to the love he had for his ex-wife no matter what she did to him he held out hope to the end that she will change her mind and stay. He is the quiet one of the group and doesn't open up easily.
One night these two meet in a bar and next thing you know a hot encounter occurs. Well occurs 3x. But more than that happens. Will begins to open up to someone. Except he is afraid. Afraid she will walk away like his ex and he will be left hurt and alone trying to pick up the pieces once more. He feels Gracie will do this because of how beautiful she is. He doesn't think he has anything to offer. His ex-wife messed him up that badly. So they go on a friends with bennies deal.
Slowly though feelings change and when Gracie moves to town things unravel. Will lets his fear take over. Gracie walks away. But fate rears her head and they meet again. Will is always trying to show his kindness and how he feels but Gracie is lost and confused by his constant attitude changes.
These two are a adorable couple and opposites in many ways. Will is introverted and keeps to himself. He has a hard time opening up and accepting that anyone will love him but his daughter. Gracie doesn't believe in marriage after her parents majorly screwed up there life and hers. She is bubbly and everyone comes to her with their secrets. Will though opens up to Gracie and she him. They show each other love and affection. Each are kind and caring and loyal. What I love about Will is he is kind and sweet and loving but no one really sees him. He is the consummate sweetheart and wallflower. Only Gracie sees the kind sweet side of him. His daughter does as well.
When Gracie gets upset it's a sight. I hated to see her struggle and also to keep her friends in the dark but was glad Doug was there for her. gracie comes to see that she has a family in a different sense of the word. Her friends love her and would do anything for her. She sees that just because they are married doesn't mean they aren't there for her. Will comes to see that he can't be without Gracie.
this is the beautiful story of a wallflower and a vivacious person finding one another. They have rough patches and misunderstandings but their kindness is seen and they are always there for each other. As they discover who they are and what they want we see the dynamics change. A loving story of two lonely people who find companionship and love with each other that will keep you in the moment of the book and wanting more in the end.
“I hoped he didn’t call my bluff, because I wasn’t convinced that I wouldn’t leap from my chair and do something utterly mortifying, like wrap my arms around his leg and cling to him like there was no tomorrow.”
“I was about ten cats and a crocheting project away from becoming a spinster.”
“There are a million reasons why this shouldn’t work, but a million and one why it does. And I don’t know about you, but I’m okay with those odds.”
My Review:
I have a new favorite author – over the weekend I became an instant fan of Alicia Renee Kline, and I want to read everything she has every scribbled, or even thought about scribbling. I adore her humor, word play, clever and witty characters, and mad writing skills. I didn’t realize I was jumping into a series at book number four, that means that I now have to find time to read the first three, as I am drawn to these characters like a magnetic force, and want to know all the secrets and details on each one of them. From page one, Changed was well-written, humorous, absorbing, and addicting. I was already smiling and drawn-in to the tale shortly after beginning. The characters are an eclectic mix of friends and family, and somewhat of a train wreck, but I never stopped rooting for them to pull it together. The story line was entertaining and unique, and when I tried to put my kindle down to go about my life, I continued to contemplate the story and characters, and soon found myself with kindle in hand as they beckoned to me to keep going. Sign me up for a lifetime supply please.
This is the fourth book in Ms. Kline's Intoxicated Series. I would recommend that you read them in order. The book stands well on it's own however, to fully understand the character interactions reading them in order is first worthwhile and second a reason to fall in love with the series.
This installment is Gracie and Will's love story.
From the beginning I loved Gracie - spunky, rambunctious, beautiful, strong. I was also intrigued by Will - he was quiet and brooding, handsome and strong.(and a cop!, I have a thing for guys in uniform).
We find out that Will has been hurt and doesn't feel he has anything left to give. Gracie well she gets what she wants when she wants it. And it just so happens that they end up in bed after Matthew and Lauren's wedding. And the adventure begins - can they just be friends with benefits, can they keep it a secret, hell can they even live in the same town?
Alicia character's are strong, defined and passionate. The books are steamy and wonderful! If you are looking for a wonderful escape, with hot guys and strong women, this series is a keeper!
Fans are an amazing object. They are used for cooling us in the summer months and some of us use them for sounds. To hear the swaying of the fan as it moves the air within. But as we look a bit deeper into the fan itself we can also see it is a bit like life. Moving back and forth of the movement is also like a beginning of a relationship a test to see if this one person fits into our world within. If we do not fit and the only thing that happens within is the swaying back and forth from where we began to where we want to be but going no further the fit is incomplete but if the movement goes beyond what we expect that special fit is worth keeping just to feel the amazement of what happens within. Can the fan go beyond what we expect or will it fall short and just be?
This is the 4th book in this series the first is Intoxicated, Shattered is the 2nd and Designed is the 3rd and should be read in order to get the full AMAZING FACTOR.
Will-handsome, a hot cop, rugged and timid
Gracie-pretty, outspoken
Will is a man that has been hurt in his past he believes he has flaws so can’t see the trueness of himself. However this most sexiest of a man is what woman can only crave to get a piece of. Will is the man of wisdom, honor and sexy for him to see what truly lies within himself is a hard drop to swallow. One woman that he meets seems to bring out the happiness in his eyes and the smile and laugh within him. Can Will let go of the past to see that this woman is truly a rough gem in the making and that this gem is just for him or will he let this gem drop within the grounds?
Gracie has never known the truest and purest of love. She takes each day for what it will bring but is it the truest of happiness that her heart seeks? A man that she has only met a few times comes into her life and she believes that she can be the listening tree that he so richly deserves but what happens when she is listening to him and her heart begins to open and soar just for a moment in time? Will Gracie be able to continue being his tree or will she want more from him that she knows he is not ready to give? Will Gracie let her heart soar or will she back away from the tree and let it willow?
Gracie and Will’s journey is one that is cautious that has to be given time to age like a fine wine. As happiness comes from each the feelings that they both have for one another are strong but yet subtle. Their binding force together is not just in the bedroom but also within the walls of their eyes. Can Will and Gracie find their common yet subtle ground to finding their forever love or will these two strong willed hearts let go and let the wind take them away from each or will there be a binding force of love within these two hearts that carry’s them through the wind and keeps their forever true hearts together? This is their journey.
To the author: Captivating is the one word that describes this read. Words can be said that love has a scary way of finding its way into ones heart at the very weirdest of times. You have taken the most unlikely couple and joined them together in forever. You will have shown your readers that one’s true self is not too valued but to be cherished by another heart if we only give it half the chance to finding true love without compromise or reservation. Kudos
I received an ARC from the lovely author Alicia Renee Kline in exchange for an honest opinion. This is Mismousey’s very opinion of “CHANGED”. I have to say I am very honored to have been given the privileged of reading this delicious and very moving story.
Ms. Kline has such a way in her writing style that when she picks up her pen and puts it to paper. It is pure joy she brings to her readers. She is able to bring each emotion out on paper and yet the reader is able to feel them as they read it. That is a skill and a talent that takes times over years and several books written for an author to be able to master, Yet , Ms Kline has master this skill in CHANGED.
She is able to bring her characters to life , give them depth, heart and soul. As for the scenes of the story- the layout- you are able to visualize right before your eyes. Ms. Kline has such a way that she is able to describe in even the smallest detail everything you see right before your eyes. So if you are picturing a hot steamy shower scene . The you will actually picture 2 people in a shower full of hot steamy water getting it on – all hot and bothered… hmmm but the author does it bettertrust me.
Now in the book :CHANGED” We find our main character Gracie lives in Indy and her bestie Lauren was getting married. However, the night before the wedding she hooked up with Will. He is a friend of theirs and a recently divorced. Lauren and her hubby have a beautiful baby girl Sadie. Now Gracie and Will have decided to keep there so call relationship a secrete. Even though it is not really a relationship. It is more like a friends with benefits things.
Will tells Gracie that they can never be a couple – they can never have an actual relationship. He has a daughter who is just 10 years younger than her. He is just getting out of his marriage. And not ready for a relationship or a another marriage. What would everyone think?? So they decide to hide what they have.
Then she is offer a house an a job by Blake. The ranch house is the same one she has already stayed in an loves. The only problem is. If she takes the job that means they will have to find some place else to meet.
Before Gracie knows it everything changed . She walks out on Will. He told her – he would never make her cry make and he did. Now she is just a very sad and lonely person. That is until the day of her car accident.
Then everything changed! Will everything change between Gracie and Will ? Will they find true happiness together? To find out this and more you need to read this amazing and terrific story. Ms. Kline keeps you edge of your seat with her story telling. You find yourself needing to find out what happens between 2 loving people.
I recommend this book to all readers, especially those that love a good romance novel. MIsmousey gives this book a firm rating of 50 out of 5 stars. Make sure to add this to your goodreads to read list. NOW WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? RUN AND GET YOUR CO[Y TODAY!!! OFF YOU GO!!!
I have enjoyed the first three books in this series, but this one is my favorite, so far. I think it's because Will and Gracie were real but didn't frustrate me as their story evolved. Both of them were themselves and weren't keeping secrets or battling through love triangles or anything like that. They were two people who went into a relationship intending for it to be a casual, "friends-with-benefits" king of thing. However, both of them needed to reconcile their past issues and outlooks with what they really wanted - each other. Will is in his mid-thirties, has a teen-aged daughter, and has no desire to engage in a romantic relationship with a new woman. Gracie, who is in her mid-twenties, is initially worried about their age difference and is used to casual flings. Will and Gracie are funny and are at ease in one another's presence, and the sex is great. Yet, they can't seem to get their act together. However, the pacing of the novel is good, and the characters are struggling but not whiny or mopey. No matter how she felt about Will's reluctance to commit, Gracie just forged ahead with her life, which was her typical behavior pattern for any situation in which she found herself. I love Gracie and fell in love with Will. I'm glad they...well, you'll see.
Gracie Alexander and Will Delaney were both at their friends wedding. Gracie really didn't know Will but they both had too much to drink and wound up spending the night together. A while later she ran into Will at a bar drinking alone and she ask him if he would like company and they went to his home and drank and spent the night together again. Months later on New Year's Eve he wound up at Gracie's and they spent more time together. Will didn't want a relationship, he had gotten a divorce years before and he still loved his wife. Gracie and Will decided to be friends with benefits when they could hook up since they didn't live in the same town. Will also had a teenage daughter he didn't want to find out. So they secretly met for some time. Gracies friend offered her an apartment and a job in her town and wanted her to move. Gracie knew that Will also lived there. She moved and their relationship changed and Gracie knew she felt something for Will and he didn't so she walked away and quite seeing Will. This story has some real good twists too it and I think you will like the story. Their is sex scenes in this book so it isn't for all
Arc given in exchange for honest review from author.
I was kindly girted a copy of this book from the Author. I am always eager to read new to me authors & this was no exception. Changed is book 4 in the series.
"dont think. just feel"
this is a fabulous tale in witch we meet gracie. gracie is just the most adorable character. shes happy plodding through life, but all that is set to change after one night.
will is struggling with his divorce, the ending of his marriage and his wife leaving him has him in a state of oblivion, is there anything/ anyone whom can help him move on?
when this pair get together they have an electrical connection, but can this strong willed pair let each other in?
a fabulously flowing story with plenty of twists and turns to keep you hooked, i was rooting for poor gracie, this girl needed her happy ending. but does she get it??
this was a brilliant book, altho stated can be read as a standalone i felt i could have done with more background at times. this being said it was a fabulous book with a brilliant ending. lots of opportunities for more from this set of characters.
Changed was an endearing story of two people trying not to get hurt. Will and Gracie have a one night stand. And then another and another. Will and Gracie are fooling themselves that they are just having sex and no emotions are involved. I loved how they set the rules and then pretended to be unemotional.
Will and Gracie’s friends and families were great rounding them out. They were important in supporting Gracie. All of the relationships were evolving as everyone was blossoming with themselves and their relationships. I understood Gracie’s need to be strong and not ask for help from everyone. It took her a little while to feel comfortable in her circle of friends. And I adored that Will for all of his awkwardness and refusal to get emotionally involved he was still sweet and giving.
I know that I would have enjoyed this book much more if I wasn’t struggling at the start to figure out who was who and what their backgrounds were. Almost half way in everything fell into place and for Will and Gracie’s story and I was able to just sit back and take in the story.
I read this story without having read any of the previous ones in the series. And I can say that I fell in love with all the characters and will definitely go back and read the others.
For this installment the author delved into Will and Gracie's story. While they had seen and interacted with each other before, it was basically in passing and due to the relationship they each have with the other characters.
After Matt and Lauren's wedding they end up hooking up, thinking it will be a one-night stand. However, they can't get enough of each other and agree to continue but want to keep it a secret from their friends. See, Will was hurt by his previous marriage and Gracie doesn't believe in the word 'love'.
These two were really meant for each other, they really were looking for love but didn't know how to go about it, or were afraid of looking for it. Through lots of drama, tears and laughter, they end up finding the unexpected...their way to love.
Changed by Alicia Renee Kline, the 4th book in the series The Intoxicated Books was very interesting, and was the first one I have read in this series. The story is about Gracie and Will, how they meet for a second time, and their story. I loved how the author put them together, and since I hadn’t read any of the other books, I did at times feel a little confused but that part wasn’t important for this book. I also enjoyed how they find each other again and both agree on that they are not looking for a relationship, but just some fun. Do you really think that can happen? In life, things always happens, there is always changes and forks in the road. Can they keep up their non-relationship so their friends don’t find out? Even when there are changes and being stubborn, can they maintain the “friends with benefits”)? I did find this story worth my time to read and can’t wait to read the other books in this story. I was provided a free ARC from the author for my honest opinion,
"Changed" by Alicia Renee Kline is my first, but not last, read from this author. I was given the book for an honest review and have to say that I really liked it. It is Book 4 in 'The Intoxicated Books' series. Makes me want to go back and read the first 3.
In this story we get to read about Gracie Alexander and Will Delaney. Gracie is in her early 20's, and works as a bank teller. Her parents basically stayed together for Gracie's sake but because of their relationship with each other she doesn't believe in love. Will is a cop in his 30's who is divorced and has a teenage daughter. He is reeling from his divorce. When Gracie and Will meet they are attracted to each other but leery about relationships. They decide to become friends with benefits. As with most things love has a way to working its way in.
I received an ARC of Changed in return for an honest review. Changed, the fourth book in The Intoxicated Books series, was presented to me as a standalone. The synopsis also didn’t indicate that I needed to read the earlier books in this series. However, I was confused as soon as I started reading Changed and that confusion continued throughout the book. I enjoyed reading Gracie and Will’s story and I really loved them and I was cheering for them all the way. In fact, I loved all the characters in Changed, but I couldn’t help thinking I wish I knew them better. I wanted to know about their backgrounds and their relationships. For that reason, I recommend reading the earlier books in The Intoxicated series first. Because of this confusion, I gave Changed 3 stars. Written by Karen from A Thousand Lives Book Blog
I was given Alicia Renee Kline’s “Changed” for an honest review and must say that I fell in love with all of the characters. I knew that this was part of a series but decided to read anyway, now I need to make sure to read the others in this series because I need to know the other’s stories. “Changed” is a story that had me on the verge of tears the entire time I was reading. The emotion between Gracie and Will was so thick that I was surprised over and over again when they didn’t just end up happily ever after right after they met. I understand some things needed to happen before Will was ready to admit to many things and I’m glad that he did or they would both have been miserable for so much longer than necessary. I would recommend this book to everyone that loves a book full of love and emotion and a happily ever after.
Will Will Will. Oh how I just want to smack you. hahaha. I was excited to see where and how Alicia Renee Kline was going to do Gracie and Will. I knew about the divorce for will, but he definitely had some surprises up his sleeve. It was very sad to hear how is ex-wife treated him and it makes you understand some of his thinking and reasoning, but does not deter from wanting to smack him. hahaha. I will say I love that out of all the friends and couples Gracie ends up turning to Doug. Glad everyone has finally gotten their happy ever after. I look forward to reading the next book for a little extra before we have to say goodbye. Great series if your looking for something fun and entertaining that will keep you turning pages as fast as you can!
Changed by Alicia Kline Alicia Renee Kline is new to me. I haven’t read anything by her before. I found that I thoroughly enjoy her style. As I read I could insert myself into the world she created. I enjoyed her style. The story is of these six friends interacting. It is nice to see the growth and changes in all their relationships. Gracie and Will are the single friends of the two married couples – Chris & Blake and Matt & Lauren – and they begin a secret affair and it is sometimes comical how much trouble they go to in order to hide it. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. Really loved this book. Will and Gracie had my feelings all over the place. First time reading a book by this author and even though its obvious that this a standalone I should have read the other books first because some of the characters from the other books are mentioned thru out this entire book. The story was well written and you will go thru all kinds of emotions from laughter, heartache and drama. But the ending for Will and Gracie was perfect and really ended the book on a good note.
I have received this book in exchange of an honest review. I haven’t read the previous books in this series but Changed stands well on its own so that wasn’t a problem for me. I really liked the characters in this book and think the author did a great job with them. Gracie is strong and determined while Will quiet, brooding and complex. I liked the chemistry between these two and thought they fit well together. The story developed nicely and the interaction between the characters kept me well entertained. A great romance!
this is the 4th book in this series and i really enjoyed it. Will and grace's story was a fun read for me.I liked grace from the beginning of this series and could wait for her story to come. Will was a great character for me in this too, cant beat a hot cop. Loved that grace was not timid and spoke her mind. Alicia writing is always wonderful and cant wait for what is next. Arc given in exchange for honest review from author.
Loved this book. I have read it as a stand alone. I now can't wait to read the whole series. I love all the characters in the book. They all captured me with their different personalities. Easy to read, great story line. I laughed, I cried, I was feeling every emotion on every page. This author certainly takes you into the world she has created. This author is going on my favorites list and once you read her books, I am sure you will add her to yours too.
Amazing addition to the Intoxicated Books!! Alicia Kline went a little more spicier on this one compared to the first three and i luved it! Each book in her series has its own flavor to it and gets hotter with each one.Her books are very well written and the character developments in them are amazing. I really enjoy reading the works of Alicia Renee Kline!

I got this free on good reads. I really enjoyed reading this book. Although this was book 4 of a series, I did not feel it was necessary to have read the previous books. I really liked the main character Grace& wanted to get to the end of the book to see if things worked out for her. I will definitely read some more of this authors books.
This series differently holds your interest each couple had different problems ,but came together in very unique ways. Real people could relate to some of the couple's troubles hope the next book comes out soon to see how Lauren and Matthew deal with what comes next.
