Chloe Maine has written other books before, but none of them as purely id-driven as Before He Was Her Headmaster. She delights in the fantasy of bending big men to the craven desires of supposedly innocent women. When she’s not writing, she’s probably reading. She lives in Canada with her own big man, raising the babies they made together.

This whole series is OTT (I mean, there is the premise, couples get accidentally married to near strangers and just go with it), and Chloe Maine in particular is always OTT, so its baked in to what this book is. Molly is the SOLE PR person for a major league baseball team, even though she's barely out of college and only couple weeks in the position. A spring training stunt goes awry when the coach is supposed to marry the mascot as part of a mass wedding event, and she subs in because the mascot is sick and whoops it's legally binding.

Here's the thing. I was listening to the Patreon bonus ep of Fated Mates this month and Jen Prokop was talking about sex scenes (in particular) that happen for the reader, not the character. She called it the equivalent of the SA scenes in GoT being reverse cowgirl so the audience can see breasts. And this kicked off because she referenced the superabundance of Daddy and Good Girl and certain intimate acts that are popular with readers and shorthand obsession and commitment. So with that fresh in my brain, we get this book, with the most committed version of insta-lust and insta-love ever, where he (the boss) sees her (new hire) and immediately imagines while in a workplace meeting what she would look like with lipstick going all over his...swimsuit area, BUT also after interacting with her twice professionally, after the mistake wedding, imagines keeping the marriage "With someone fearless and bold like Molly. Someone who would challenge me to be a good husband, to love her with my whole heart, to laugh and fight and live, She's half my age, but God, I'd be so good to her if I had the chance." Thirty pages later he's "I cannot fall in love with this girl. Too [forking] late."

So this book is very much a checklist of his POV during intimacy (when did we switch to that? I guess so we know how into it he is?), his early arrival (as a 50 year old!) from the pleasure of acts of service, lots of "seed" being put where it can be of the most use to fulfill a certain reader expectation, and of course true love and cohabitation after one date. There is no need for emotional build or character arc or relationship evolution when we can just assert that the parties are incredibly in love and deep in the throes of mutual attraction on sight. There is no need to examine the ramifications of marrying someone nearly 30 years older, whose daughter is older than the bride, when all parties are totally accepting with zero pushback.

I'm giving this three stars because the writing was funny and clever in parts (especially with her POV) and also there was a telegraphed low hanging fruit of an overused set-up that the author sidestepped, which I appreciated. Also this book made me understand that my time is valuable, and there is a cost to reading too many "this might be fun, why not?" books. If I hadn't had the one/two punch of listening to someone talk about this trend in recent books and immediately seeing it in action, it probably wouldn't have phased me, but the combination really reset my reading priorities.

I kept avoiding finishing this book bc I thought for sure I was coming up on the “third act breakup” chapter, but guess what?? No third act breakup!!

This was just a sweet, spicy, happy story! Very relaxing read. Would read again.

Honestly my only complaint, and it’s not a legitimate one, is that the dude on the cover looks angry. 😆 So every time I went to read this book my subconscious was bracing for an “alphahole.”

But this was just cinnamon roll, golden retriever energy. Nothing but a good time!

This was probably one of my favourite recent releases by this author, simply because it was on the longer side 😭. I loved the dynamic between these characters and didn't expect to enjoy this one as much as I did 😫.

I hate to say this, but I give this book a very reluctant three stars.
And even though I received an ARC, I will always keep it 100 and honest unlike so many on here.
This author was always one of my favorites. But I feel like lately she has been really off her mojo.
This book was just cringe. It was like a bad Hallmark movie. Way too sweet and way too Insta love. And I never thought I would say that a book was so wholesome that it gave me the ick. But it really did. It was so sickly sweet that when the sex scenes came it just felt really weird and not hot. An age gap is my number one thing. But not in this book.
It also felt very rushed, especially the ending and the forced epilogues.
There was just no passion in this project. I didn’t feel any of the author in this. I know that AI didn’t write this. But if you told me that it did, I would believe it and that really hurts me to say.
I’m not sure if this author is just pumping out too many books because of demand and that is taking a toll on her artistic abilities? Or if she’s just going through an artistic rut as an author?! I don’t know what it is but as a true and longtime fan, I really want to tell her that she needs to get her shit together. Or she’s gonna lose fans.
I just hope she’s not trying to please everybody and in doing so losing her own voice because that’s what it feels like.

I received an advance copy of Accidentally Marrying the Coach by Chloe Maine for free, and this is my honest review.

Spoiler-free summary:
In Accidentally Marrying the Coach, we have our female lead character Molly Henderson (23), who is the new and only employee of the marketing department, and our male lead character Jeff Rosehill (50), aka “Coach” or “Rosie” (this one is cute). He is the coach and manager of the baseball team Outlaws, which he is having slight trouble getting off the ground and onto the course of success. When the two characters meet, it’s instant chemistry and desire—especially for Jeff (shocker), who tries to put a damper on his crush before it gets out of hand by pretending not to notice Molly or care for either her or her new bright ideas for a fruitful PR campaign for the club.

Speaking of which, after small steps to increase the club’s online visibility and attract attention, Molly plans a mass wedding ceremony where hundreds of couples can get married—along with the Coach and the team mascot, Captain Citrus.

However, a last-minute hiccup turns this promotional event into something far more personal and legally binding than either of them anticipated.

My opinion of the book:
Like with all of the books by Ms. Maine, I thoroughly enjoyed this one as well. It’s one of the longer novellas by the author in quite some time and has the perfect blend of spice, romance, and smiles. Chloe Maine’s writing and the way she builds her characters—especially in this genre of instant, over-the-top relationships—still make the story feel organic and kept me excited to read further.

The only thing I would have wanted is a little more drama, but I still recommend this work to everyone who is simply looking for an enjoyable and tastefully hot novella without unrealistic or stupid antics by any character, and with a HEA.

Spoiler-ish (but not really):
Plus, I also liked the detail that Molly is tall. We’re so used to FMCs in short, spicy novellas with OTT MMCs being short and petite—which I’m not totally against per se—but I found this “small” yet refreshing detail really nice to see :)

5++ stars

This is part of the Accidentally Marrying multi author series and features Jeff, a professional baseball coach and Molly, the team’s social media promoter.

I have two things to say about this book—first, the accidental marriage aspect was a hoot, I loved how it came about and second, this book was so. Amazingly. Good!!! And the steam… oh my gosh, it was smokin’ hot! I’ve read several books so far in the Accidentally Marrying series and I’ve enjoyed all of them, even loved a couple but this one is hands down my favorite so far; I absolutely LOVED it!!! It took the accidental marriage trope, threw in a significant age gap, mixed in a professional baseball coach and doused it all with instalove and gave us an amazing read that’s almost certain to catapult it to the top in rankings; if it doesn’t, it’s just because not everyone is posting a review—it’s no shortcoming on the book’s part. Grab it today; it’s not too long, just exactly long enough that I didn’t feel like there were any unanswered plot lines, it was just what I wanted. 5++ stars

Awww that was so freaking cute!!!

Perfect for someone in the mood of light spicy age-gap romance.

Definitely insta-lust and insta-love kind of story but didn't matter for me because I was looking for this kind of reading experience. Life has been messy and heavy, this book is perfect escapism for me. I don't care that it was slightly (or truly) cringey not make sense at all story, yet this book served me a good distraction from currently horrible real-life world.

Coach Jeff, 50 years old hero, was having the starts upon seeing Molly, 23 years old heroine. Molly was a bold type of heroine and she also fell hard for Jeff for the first glance. Their accidental marriage was funny and definitely only happening in fiction world. They navigated their relationship well enough. Molly was hesitant to speak her mind but I loved that Jeff was so opened up with her and encouraged her to do the same. It was showing that Jeff was way mature and I liked it.

Thank you to Chloe Maine for the ARC.

4.5 stars. This novella is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy, accidental marriage, age gap, contemporary workplace romance between Jeff, the male older baseball coach lead, and Molly, the much younger new PR rep for Jeff’s club. I chortled at the premise of the story. I empathised with Molly’s mortification at the error. I enjoyed the mutual attraction and appreciated Jeff’s respect for Molly’s preferences. I enjoyed Jeff’s goal of convincing Molly to commit to the marriage, and his persuasions. I enjoyed Molly’s professionalism balanced by her desires. I enjoyed the steamy intimate scenes and the playfulness. I enjoyed the interactions with Jeff’s daughter and her husband (from a previous story), and their contribution to family dynamics. I adored the happy ending.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Jeff & Molly work together in this fun spicey & steamy age-gap novella. Molly is the only one in PR and when one of her events involving Jeff goes haywire, they are put in a difficult (and funny) situation where they try to fight their deep attraction to one another. Of course, they can’t and it only gets more fun when his daughter and son-in-law arrive!

This book had me hooked from the beginning and I read all-the-way to the end without putting it down. I highly recommend it.

While it mentions Jeff’s daughter and son-in-law which are featured in My First and Only Crush (Book 1 in the Wildfire Ranch series), you can enjoy it without reading that book. Although if you are like me, you will go and read those books in the Wildfire Ranch series right away. I also recommend all books in this series.

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Accidental marriage? Age gap? I'm here for it.

Lust/love at first sight. This book makes me giddy. All Chloe Maine books are sweet and spicy. This is no different.

The only mistake I caught in this ARC
Page 66 it says MY, it should be HER.

*Pushing myself down her body, I cup my breasts and kiss her nipples.*

I love Molly having a life plan and watching it go out the window, 😆 as Jeff keeps presenting her with all the what ifs. They compliment one another finding that common ground as they navigate this unexpected territory.

Seeing Sinclaire and Trick again was great.

Sweet writing, loveable characters, and yeah it's a hell of an age gap but when it's right, it's right. Once you pick up this book, you won't put it down until the last page is read. Another hit.

This was cute... and of course steamy AF ;)

I'll admit I'm not 100% sure how you "accidentally" sign a real marriage certificate in these circumstances, but the results can't be argued with. I did like that Jeff attempted to give Molly agency here by telling her they wouldn't consummate until she was sure she wanted to marry him--she could take up to six months as an "engagement" if she wanted to--but that lasted about five minutes? (Maybe a little longer. But only because a road trip was involved... ;)) and they did, ahem, other things before that, so...

Jeff is Sinclaire's dad and Trick's former teammate and coach from My First and Only Crush , and it was fun to see them again (with their little boy!) Of course this can be read as a complete standalone, too :)

Rating: 4 stars / A-

Well, Chloe Maine has done it again. Love her age gap stories.
The couple in the book are Jeff and Molly. He is the coach of the baseball team that Molly works for as PR for the ball club.
As a PR stunt is for the Jeff to marry the team mascot on opening day. Everything was going well until the guy in the costume gets sick and Molly ends up doing it. Helen get them to sign the marriage licence but Molly uses her real name and surprise they are really married.
When they find out the first thought is to annual it but changed their mind and tries a 6 month engagement and to figure it out. Spoiler alert...lol They don't make the 6 months before they end up in the bed. So they stay married and enjoy every minute of it.
Really enjoyed the book,
Thanks Chloe is another good read.

Live laugh love me some age gap goodness!!

I can’t stress enough how good a well done age gap work place romance can be…and this one hit every mark. I couldn’t get enough of the first reactions, the immediate attraction and fighting of feelings and the giving in after the happy accident of marrying your crush.

I loved every second of this. How mature and open every conversation was, how easy and loving their relationship developed, the side characters and the whole plot itself. I had a great time.

The spice was amazing, even the teasing and banter was just chefs kiss. I just love Chloe’s writing.

Thank you so much for this arc!

~~ “You can’t help what the heart wants, when it wants it.” ~~

I loved this accidental marriage between Coach Jeff and PR person Molly so much! I loved their interaction from the start, and the way Jeff reacted on the accidental part was so good. They have super hot chemistry together, a perfect match! The epilogues were really great, and the story overall was very cute.

~~“The age gap should make me feel like a dirty old man. But you feel so right in my arms, like I’ve been waiting to hold you my entire life.”~~ (Jeff)

Thanks to Chloe Maine for the review copy and this is my honest review.

Shut up!! It's the coach from First and Only Crush!! I was so excited to find that out and for him to fall in love with a heroine who's younger than his daughter lol.

Okay so it's a big age gap story with breeding and normally I'm pretty good at separating the realities of real life from fiction but this one was borderline for me. However, I did enjoy the time spent of them getting to know each other to build on the insta-love, yeah it's a lot of lust but also on the personal level. It's deliciously saucy and unhinged fun.

⚾️❤️ Jeff & Molly

ARC Review

Accidently Marrying the Coach by Chloe Maine is part of the multi-author series Accidentally Marrying. Chloe went further with this story and connected it to her entire Wildfire Ranch Series. Love, Love, Love that Chloe did that. Trick & Sinclaire pop into this story. 🥰 Jeff & Molly have a delicious ägë-gäp (27 years) and they sizzle together in all the very best ways. 🥵 Of course we have an HEA and two future epilogues. I have read 3 books from this series and this one is my all-time favorite!!

Oh we’re so back. This is the ideal Chloe Maine. It hits all high notes and I can’t wait for everyone to get the chance to read it.

⚾️ Age Gap
⚾️ Coach x PR
⚾️ Workplace Romance
⚾️ Breeding Kink
⚾️ Virgin FMC
⚾️ Baseball Romance

If you read My First and Only Crush, you’ll be happy to know that Sinclaire and Trip are back, but this time it’s the Coach who’s falling hard. Due to a paperwork/social media mix up, the coach finds himself married to the PR girl and their chemistry is EXPLOSIVE.

I think this may be the best book that I have read in a while. Hot and real with so many good feels in it. So spicy and a sport romance makes it so terrific. This is a powerhouse of insta love and hotness. I may just reread because it is that good. Yes I got an ARC copy but Chloe Maine has been a favorite author of mine and this one exceeded all expectation and I could not put it down. She can develop characters like no other to give you a vested feeling in all the overlapping books. Thanks for a terrific read

I think it's impossible for Chloe to write an MMC I don't like, I truly love them all...BUT.... Coach Rosehill may be my new favorite.

Love an accidental marriage trope and this was just so dang good! Coach Jeff Rosehill is so freaking swoony and I absolutely loved the big age gap done this way. Also the chemistry was 🔥🔥 So happy we got a Sinclaire cameo.

This was short, sweet, cute and a lot spicy; couldn't get enough.

Age gap (20+yrs!), Accidental Marriage, Workplace romance, He calls her Whirlwind 💕

Love this age gap and an accident to boot. What a ride and what a way to get married. It was not supposed to be this way but what can you say? I thought is was all for fun until it wasn't.
This was a fun read and couldn't be happier for Chloe in writing this. Go read you won't regret it, it will have you swooning, laughing and even getting frustrated.
It is a great book Chloe did it again, I love her books.

Accidentally Marrying the Coach by Chloe Maine is the hugely romantic story of Jeff and Molly. He’s a renowned Major League Baseball coach and she’s a new PR hire for the team. They meet in passing and the magnetism is instant!! When a PR event causes an unusual situation…things start to get out of hand…in a good way!!! Wonderful, uplifting, enjoyable read that just makes you feel good!!! I loved this story!!!

Unputdownable. I fell in love with these characters. Molly’s enthusiasm is infectious and unbeknownst to her has caught the attention of the coach of the baseball team she has just begun to work for, but he’s too old for her so he would never let her know. Though when fate steps in all bets are off. This insta-attraction falling in love story had me from page one.

Jeff and Molly were so much fun to read. I loved the accidental marriage. I liked the way Jeff handled everything once the news was out. Their relationship is totally instalove but it's enjoyable. I liked that they had a connection from the start. Overall this was a good story that is a quick easy read.

This is a age gap forbidden novella. Jeff is a baseball coach who is older and focused on baseball when he meets new PR representative Molly. I loved Molly. She was so sweet and funny. A ball of energy. The way she persuaded Coach Jeff to marry the mascot ( who happened to be Molly that date) was entertaining. I love an age gap trope especially when the MMC is grumpy. Fun enjoyable read.

Chloe Maine writes directly from an ID space that can verrrry easily veer into cringe territory. She stays on the right side of that line that makes these fun reads that scratch an itch. One of the things I enjoyed about this book in particular was the insta-love that then had some short time jumps that let it sit a little more in reality.

Molly and Jeff end up accidentally married when a PR event goes awry. Molly subs in for the regular mascot but neither realize the faux marriage paperwork has their actual signatures and gets filed for real! While they have a significant age gap, you can’t miss the spark, chemistry, and steam that leaps off the page for these two! A hot, instalove age gap that’s worth the read!

The way they came together in this story??? Adorable!!!

Whew, these two sparked off each other right from the start! I was so happy that our character we met before gets his HEA, and has to eat a wee bit of crow as well 😊 A publicity stunt gone awry, and some time together is all it took for them to be hooked. Everything seemed to move at warp speed, but then again, why wait when it’s just so right <3
