Sometimes you have to decide if helping others is more important than your own safety.

Finn has been free from the lab for months, but he still isn’t happy. After finding out his mate didn’t want him, he went back home to his tribe, where he is once again beaten and ignored. The mansion is the only place in which he feels safe, if only he didn’t have to face the mate who doesn’t want him…

Bryce has been heartbroken since Keenan left him. He was sure he didn’t want Finn as his mate, but finding out that the Nix is being hurt changes that. He knows he will have to grovel for Finn to forgive him, but he will gladly do that and much more to insure that Finn is safe.

While they find their way to each other, Finn uncovers a secret that might tear him apart. Will Bryce be able to win Finn's trust and keep him safe?

Catherine is the creator of several series, most of them paranormal, including the Whitedell Pride Series and the Gillham Pack Series. While she graduated in translation, she decided to go the writer’s way because it was more fun to create her own stories and characters.
She’s been living in Italy for more than twenty years, but she’s a daughter of the North—Belgium to be precise—and she misses it so much that she’s already planning to move back.
She loves pizza—probably too much —her pets, and of course, books. She sneaks some reading time in her schedule every time she has five minutes free from writing, demands from her various pets and son, and lastly, housework.

So I stumbled upon these after reading another Charlie Richards book and realized this is another series involving shifters and their fated mates...

Unfortunately, Leivens' writing tends to lack a bit of Richards' charm. Don't get me wrong, they're enjoyable, but they really start to lose steam quickly, so while I've read more than fifty of Richards' books, I've read five of Lievens', and I'm not sure I care whether or not I read any more.

On top of all that, these all seem like they were run through a translator and then not double checked for accuracy. The mixing up of conjunctions and prepositions smacks of English as a second language. Plus, there's just bizarre wording, both in this book and in subsequent works, that makes me think Lievens isn't entirely comfortable with English.

"Finn couldn't help but being aware of how plain he was confronted compared with the shifter."

"They were both naked, yards of tanned skin at Finn's disposition…"

"…wounding his arms around his mate…"

"Finn had tried talking Dominic and Bryce into letting him go, or at least into taking some of the pride's soldiers there, but they weren't bulging."

"'…his brothers have military training and they accepted to help us.'"

"…and Dominic was planning a recognizance mission…"

Weird shit like that made the text awkward to read. Still, if you're a fan of Charlie Richards, you might get a little thrill out of these low-angst paranormal romps.

I was looking forward to this one, because I really liked Finn and hated Bryce. Well guess what? I still hate Bryce. He calls that groveling? No. I call it saving his own ass from Dominick :( Finn deserves better. If it wasn't for Dominick telling Bryce what he did he would still be avoiding Finn and trying to get Keenan back. Screw him.

Yes, finally! Finn’s story. I was waiting for Finn and Bryce since book 1.

Bryce was just starting his relationship with Keenan, when he suddenly found his mate in the Nix, Finn. But Bryce decided he would not just break things off with Keenan. He loved Keenan! But unfortunately Keenan does is for him, since he knows how important true mates are.

Finn was so happy when he found his mate. But when the big shifter rejected him, he didn't know if he wanted to be part of the pride. And that's why he goes back to his clan. Even though the clan's leader constantly beats him, it must be better than to live under the same roof as his mate who doesn't want him...

I was really hoping for some groveling from Bryce, but unfortunately that didn't happen. There was some appologizing to a lot of people, but no real groveling. Bummer. But.... I still really liked this. There is always some form of hurt/comfort in these books and it just melts me every time when the big bad shifter rescues the little one.

Lovely series.

This is probably going to be one of the easiest reviews that I’ve ever written. I was rather excited to have this book pop up in my emails and I resisted it for all of 24 hours before I gave in and rearranged my other reviews because I just had to read this story. Because this is “The Story” for me. That book in a series that you’ve been waiting for since beginning the series but the author dangles it just beyond your reach like a big juicy carrot. However the risk of that is hyping the book up in your head, which can lead to a lot of dissatisfaction when things don’t go the way you envision. And I knew going into this that things DO NOT go the way I envisioned from the time I was first introduced to the characters involved. I knew that what I had hoped was going to be written as a ménage instead left my favourite of the three men still single at the end of the story. So while I was excited to read this, I was also feeling some trepidation that I was going to end up sad and disappointed and shaking my fist at the heavens while cursing Catherine Lievens. Yes, I’m aware that I’m a bit of a drama queen.

As you can see from the blurb this is Finn and Bryce’s book. Finn and Bryce sans Keenan. Ok, I know. I need to get over it. Keenan, the awesomely wonderful guy that he is, broke up with his lover Bryce in book one after Bryce’s fated mate Finn arrived at the mansion. Since that time, in the background of the following two books, Bryce has refused to give up on reuniting with Keenan while Finn could only watch from the sidelines as his mate pursued another man. My feelings were a little mixed on this. I loved Bryce and Keenan together in the first book but I loved Finn from the moment he was introduced, before he was known as Bryce’s mate. At first I wanted that ménage because I didn’t want any of the men left alone but as the series progressed I really started to dislike Bryce and kind of wished Finn and Keenan would just hook up and tell Bryce to take a hike. However, all it took was one chapter in Bryce’s point of view and I felt so sorry for the guy. He had been in love with Keenan and because the fates had decided he was meant to be with a different man, he lost him. He was angry at having his choice taken away from him and didn’t react well. When Finn and Bryce finally get together, I was thankfully fine with it. When Keenan and Bryce talk and agree to try to be friends, well shit, I was fine with that too. The author pulled off some kind of miracle and placated my need to let out a battle cry and tear Bryce apart for hurting both Finn and Keenan. To be totally honest I don’t think I’ll be completely over it until Keenan has his own book (which is apparently coming but a long way off) but I’ll just have to be patient with knowing my favourite character in this series will get his own fated mate one day.

And meanwhile, well hello Dominic’s cute little mate!! The alpha of the Whitedell pride has finally met his mate and, again, not the next book in sequence but there’s just so much to look forward to with this series.

For those of you who haven’t read the previous three books, I don’t recommend you read these books out of order. Having read them all myself it can be a bit hard to judge but I really don’t think these books could be read as standalone stories. We’re only at book four and it’s already getting a little difficult to remember who is who and who is mated to who. But to be honest I love series that are like that. I love that all of the characters from all of these books live together in the great big Whitedell Pride mansion. Nothing annoys me more in a series than having no further contact with MCs from earlier books (unless there’s a damn good reason not to).

The next book in the series is titled Jeremy and is about a human named Jeremy and a tiger shifter named Denver. The expected release date is February 1st. (You’ve got to love an author who can deliver a series as regular as clockwork!)

This was book 4 in the "Whitedell Pride" series. Finn is a nix "water fae" has known for months who is mate is. Casey is a cougar shifter who is in love with Keenan Jaime's brother when he first meets his mate Keenan is sitting on his lap and they are kissing. When Keenan finds out that Finn is Casey's mate he breaks up with him he knows how important finding a mate is, but Casey is being a stubborn ass and doesn't want his mate. Finn hangs around the mansion because he is safe there he is being beaten in his clan they don't like him because he is half human. When Dominic notices that he has a black eye he knows that it is time for him to do something he talks to Bryce and tells him about the abuse and that it's time for him to stop hurting Finn and Keenan or else he will kick him out of the pride. After talking to Keenan Bryce knows that it is time for him to take care of Finn and he goes groveling and Finn agrees to give him a chance. This was a pretty good read turns out Finn is a virgin when he agrees to move in when he goes to get his things he is attacked by his clans second and he learns that the man sold him to the lab that held him and that the clan has been selling other members. We also meet Dominic's mate who is Finn's cousin Ani he has issues with large men. Finn wants to help others so he goes back and is captured by the same man and Bryce attacks. This was a really good read with no errors in grammar or spelling like the rest of the books in this series. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I'm torn on the rating... the first half of the book was a 2 for me but the second half was a 3.
I have to say I'm extremely disappointed how easily Finn and Bryce were able to move on from their rocky start. In particular Finn was so forgiving and didn't make bryce grovel or work at all! ! Finn is a weakling dude! He not only forgives bryce before he can even finish saying his damn pathetic apology, but he also practically begs bryce to bite and mate him right after! Even tho Finn told bryce they needed to wait to mate he does it anyway! ! Like Bryce totally didn't notice or even care that Finn was being beat up and abused daily...Finn is walking around with bruises and stuff and Bryce doesn't even see that! What kind of mate is that? Not the kind of mature that should be forgiven at the drop off a hat!! I just feel like I was ripped off a chunk of good entertainment bc after all this build up and pain Between these 2 guys it was all of a sudden all rainbows and sunshine. BORING. .. AND ANNOYING. I just lost all respect for Finn when he did that and he basically could never recover in my eyes. Finn should have made bryce chase him till he didn't know his own name! After looking forward to this story it was basically a major letdown. ..

I feel that there wasn't enough insight into Finn & Bryce's feelings during the previous books. I would have liked a bit more reflection on that in the beginning of this book. Also, it was a bit too quick for them to hit the reconciliation stage. There were three books worth of angst for these two and it went from that to mating in only a few chapters. I realize their animal sides were pushing this since the beginning, but human emotion should have held out a little more, at least on Finn's end. Granted, he didn't claim Bryce right away, but he did jump into bed with him way too soon. He should have made him grovel more.

#4 in my series binge down. No real surprises as this is a reread (probably the third - or maybe 4th over the years) A nice meal with a happy ever after and low angst plot. As with many series, the characters are developed to the basic necessity level and the world is cohesive. As mentioned this is a low-stress, easy read.

Sometimes you have to decide if helping others is more important than your own safety.

While they find their way to each other, Finn uncovers a secret that might tear him apart. Will Bryce be able to win Finn's trust and keep him safe?

Summary:
The abuse Finn had endured at the hands of the scientists after he was taken by them was band enough, but you would think that he would find happiness when he escaped. Unfortunately, what he found was his mate Bryce in a relationship with Keenan, another member of the pack. Finding ones mate is usually a wonderful thing, but for Finn and Bryce their problems had just begun. Bryce's love for Keenan made things difficult for all of them until Keenan broke it off. Keenan may be human, but he knew how important mates were and I for one hope that he is given the same chance to find love. Finn and Bryce have many issues to overcome before they can find their way to each other. Finn understood the fear that everyone being held at the laboratories felt, but when he learned that his cousin Ani would have shared the same fate he knew that something had to be done even if it put him in danger. The many unique characters brought not only this book, but the entire series to life. The idea of laboratories experimenting on paranormals and humans with not regard to their lives was appalling! The Whitedell Pack's determined to locate all the labs and rescue everyone being held captive was inspiring and gives hope to the hopeless.

Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance

After Nolan and Casey ride off into the sunset, we finally get to the relationship that has been building since book one. The one between Nix (Water Fae) and former lab rat, Finn and cougar shifter Bryce, former boyfriend to Keenan. From the moment they met everyone knew they were fated to be together. Bryce, just had to get his head out of his behind. Bryce fancies himself still in love with his former boyfriend. Of course one relatively tame come-to-Jesus meeting with his alpha and Bryce finally sees the error of his ways. The next second he is head-over-heels and ready to mate with Finn.
