this one was pretty cute! i do think i like rosie and niki a teeny bit more than senna and connor, so it was really lovely to see their story! i think in my ARC review of Start Your Engines (that i read a year ago, omg what??? genuinely insane to me) i even said i was excited for niki's book hahaha
⋆。°✩ 𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒕
i really do appreciate the representation of health anxiety and trauma within this book. it was so lovely to watch niki process and overcome his traumatic experiences. the plot point about having to choose between 'old' niki and 'new' niki was so interesting. it really has a lot more depth than most other romance novels out there!
i think after a while the smut scenes started to grate on me, and they weren't really moving the story forward very much, so i had to kind of skim them, unfortunately.

at times, i did find rosie a little bit cringe with how she was so "random" and "quirky", but overall i did really love her. she was sweet and caring, and i enjoyed following her story.
i loved how she would always hold her daughter at the highest priority no matter what. rosie is such a good mum to tabi omg 😭❤️

i really loved niki, i will admit. he was sweet and he would do literally anything for his girl. and the whole dog dad thing?! i'm in LOVE. graham the bulldog was lowkey my fav character 🙂↕️
watching niki slowly get more used to physical touch was SO lovely, i was so proud of him! and the way tabi would always, and i mean ALWAYS get sanitiser for niki... my HEART!!
the epilogue was a bit silly, but i did find myself grinning at it, so who am i to judge?

i did find that i enjoyed the writing style! at times, there were a few phrases or words (mostly relating to sexual things) that really icked me out, but it didn't bother me too much!

i really liked this book! i'm excited to see where rebecca chase takes the next coulter racing team book! (2027, i see you...)

⋆˚꩜。 pre-read:
thank you sososo much to Love Notes PR and Rebecca Chase for the e-ARC! i read the first book in this series, Start Your Engines, and I’m excited to see Niki’s story 🤭 also the tropes being single mum, age gap, dog dad… i’m SAT.
Spun Out released on March 6th! It is out now to read!
Arc review Overall a cute read, I liked the representation of anxiety and dealing with it, in this case health anxiety. I also liked reading about a singe mom also trying to juggle being a mother and working. I really loved our mmc especially as a dog dad. Our fmc was just fine, at times slightly frustrating but not too bad. I really liked that she cared so much and respected Niki’s health concerns. This is a part of a series, I did not read book 1 but that did not make this book any less enjoyable.
This was a great F1 about Nikki and Rosie. These two were great. I loved the banter and the moments they had together. This was a really fun story and I enjoyed it a lot. I lived the fact that this dealt with car racing. I don’t read those much, so this was a really nice time reading something I normally wouldn’t. I genuinely loved reading this and I’m thankful for being able to be a part of the ARC team for this one.
I was kicking my feet and giggling from the start of this book. I had so much fun reading this book, Nikki and Rosie were adorable and spicy as a couple. The mental health elements were written and handled so well no magical cure just slow improvement. Connor was hilarious and i definitely need to read his story now.
3.5 stars. Thank you Love Notes PR for the ARC! This was a cute book, it was my first F1 book and I think I could get into it! Niki and Rosie are super cute, I was laughing out loud through the first half. The third act break up was frustrating!! 😵💫🤣 but otherwise a good book. I’ll be looking out for the next one
While the high-speed racing and workplace tension deliver the adrenaline you’d expect, this story truly shines in its emotional depth. It explores vulnerability in an environment built on control and performance, and the depiction of health anxiety is nuanced, realistic, and respectfully portrayed.
first off thank you to Love notes PR for providing this ARC. unfortunately this book wasn't for me so a DNF @ 52% I absolutely love the male main character and the anxiety rep on this book and overall I loved this for about 35% and then after that I feel like it went down hill in my opinion seemed like Insta love and I found the female main character irritating at times because she goes between wanting to be with him and then it's no I can't be with him I also found any of the spice cringey . overall I just found it to be repetitive and overall annoying
super cute f1 romance!! i was fortunate enough to get an ARC of spun out, it was a really warm hearted romance with really really good mental health representation! i can’t wait to see where the rest of the series goes!
Absolutely loved the first meeting between these two! Never read a “my wife” moment like that and I am here for it. The time they spent together is brief but life‑altering for Rosie, a single mum trying to rebuild her life, and Niki, an F1 driver recovering from a traumatic accident. They meet in Greece and share one night that feels like stepping out of real life. It’s tender, electric, and so full of possibility that when they part, you feel the ache of it.
Months later, Rosie walks into Coulter Racing to interview as Niki’s assistant, and the air between them practically crackles. He’s guarded, anxious, and trying to hold himself together under the weight of his own fear. She’s the one person who sees through the armor. And he’s the one man who looks at her like she deserves softness, desire, and a life bigger than survival. There’s a tenderness to the way they take care of each other: Rosie grounding him when his fears spiral and Niki making sure she never feels alone in the chaos of her life.
“I’m fucking obsessed with you. Tell me you’re beautiful.”
The tension between Rosie and Niki is the kind that settles under your skin and refuses to let go. Every glance feels loaded, every brush of contact feels like it could tip them over the edge. There’s this constant hum between them, an awareness that never fades, even when they’re trying to be professional. It makes every scene feel like it’s vibrating with something unspoken and dangerously close to breaking.
“She’s here for me. Of course she is. She’s a freaking angel.
Their emotional intimacy grows in perfect sync with the spice, and that’s what makes it so addictive. You feel the shift as they start trusting each other, leaning on each other, letting themselves want more than the roles they’re supposed to play. The slow build makes every moment feel earned, and when the dam finally cracks, it’s not just desire, it’s months of longing, restraint, and need finally happening. It’s freaking hot, with a capital “H”. I blushed a lot. Loved the power play dynamics and “sir” moments; they encoded some very spicy scenes!!
“It’s like my first time. Her moans are like nothing I’ve heard before, because they’re given by someone who knows me and my problems but wants me anyway.”
Niki’s health anxiety is written with a raw honesty that makes his vulnerability feel intimate rather than fragile. Rosie becomes the one person who can steady him, not by fixing him but by seeing him, really seeing him. And in return, he becomes this quiet, grounding force in her life, someone who steps into the chaos she’s been carrying alone and makes it feel lighter just by being there for both her and Tabi.
Rosie’s strength is the kind that comes from surviving, from loving her daughter fiercely, from rebuilding her life piece by piece. Niki recognizes that strength instantly, and instead of being intimidated by it, he’s drawn to it. He treats her resilience like something sacred, something worth protecting, and that dynamic adds a deep emotional vibe to every interaction they share.
And then there’s Tabi, Rosie’s daughter, who isn’t just part of the background. She becomes part of Niki’s world in a way that feels natural and deeply moving. The way he shows up for her, without hesitation or performance, adds another layer to the story’s emotional pull. It’s not just Rosie he’s falling for; it’s the life she’s built, the family she’s created, and the future he wants to be part of.
Niki himself is irresistible in that perfect contrast: soft‑hearted, gentle, and patient when Rosie needs it, but with a voice and presence that turn molten the moment he lets himself want her. He’s protective without being possessive, tender without being timid, and when the spice finally breaks through the restraint, he’s unfiltered in a way that makes every intimate moment feel explosive.
“I want you to come with me inside you. You control the speed. You control me. Possess me,”
This is the kind of second‑chance romance where healing is mutual. Niki regains confidence and calm because Rosie believes in him. Rosie finds stability and partnership because Niki refuses to let her carry everything alone.
“Your name was written on my heart the day you dared me to swim and face my fears. I can do anything with you by my side. I love you, Rosie.”
Spun Out is heartfelt, deeply emotional, and full of that slow‑building intensity that makes you feel every moment between Niki and Rosie. A huge thank you to Rebecca Chase and LoveNotes PR for the early copy!
Book: Spun Out Author: Rebecca Chase My Rating: 4.5/5 ⭐️ Spice Level: 4.5/5 🌶️ Genre: F1 Romance Release date: March 6th, 2026 Tropes: - Single mom - F1 Driver - Age gap - Renewed playboy - Anxiety rep - Dual POV - Forced proximity - Millionaire MMC
My thoughts: I LOVE TABI. Tabi is adorable and cute and amazing. This book got 10 times better with Tabi in it. I loved this book way more than I expected (though there was more spice than expected) This was also my first f1 romance which I really enjoyed… Niki (the MMC) is so sweet (especially when he’s with Tabi) and his anxiety made his character more realistic and included more depth. Rosie is so understanding with Niki’s story (and literally just everyone in general). She raised Tabi by herself while trying to follow her dreams but she’s still so amazing and sweet and I just love her so much. All in all, I enjoyed this book a lot, and all the characters are so sweet and I think you should totally read it.
Blurb: She was the mystery woman I kissed after I ran away from my F1 career. Now she's my assistant, the only person who knows my secret, and I want her more than anything…
Niki Eight months ago, after an accident left me battling health anxiety, I left my career as a ruthless Formula 1 champion and disappeared to a Greek Island.
After one evening with a beautiful, feisty stranger who left me with an unforgettable kiss and the power to believe in myself, I'm home working for my family's F1 team.
Then Rosie, the beautiful stranger and the only person who knows my secret, walks back into my life as my new assistant!
Our chemistry burns hotter than ever, but as my assistant, she's off limits.
Too bad I crave her more than anything.
As I fight to get my career back on track, it becomes harder to ignore my feelings for her.
Will I sacrifice everything for the woman I can’t be without?
Rosie A stranger I met on holiday gave me the most passionate kiss of my life and inspired me to pursue my dreams in studying sports psychology.
Now he's my millionaire boss and our chemistry is growing into an irresistible temptation.
But as a single mum, I can't focus on anything other than my daughter and the future we deserve.
The more time I spend with Niki, the closer we get. He's amazing with my daughter. He's caring and romantic...and the passion is beyond my dreams.
But as the lines blur, one wrong move can destroy everything. Can I risk it all for love?
Thanks so much Rebecca Chase and Love Notes PR for the book. I was gifted this book as an advance review copy (ARC) for free, and I am leaving this review completely voluntarily.
Spun Out by Rebecca Chase is a Formula One romance about a driver trying to rebuild his life and career while dealing with the anxiety and trauma left behind by his past. When he begins working closely with a single mom who refuses to treat him like the celebrity everyone else sees, the two slowly form a connection that neither of them expected. As they travel the racing circuit together, what starts as attraction grows into something deeper built on trust and vulnerability.
This is the second book in the series. It can be read as a standalone, however it is recommended to read the first book beforehand since it helps give some additional context for the team and characters.
I actually picked this up during a bit of a reading slump. I had a couple days where nothing on my TBR was really calling to me. When I got approved for the EARC, I decided to go back and read book one first to prep for this review—and I’m honestly really glad I did. It made jumping into this story feel much smoother and I already felt invested in the racing world and the characters.
Also… Formula One romances are really hitting their stride right now and I am completely here for it.
One thing I thought the author handled really well was Niki’s anxiety. His trauma and the anxiety that came from it were never brushed over or magically “fixed” when it became inconvenient for the story. It felt very real in the way some people around him didn’t fully understand what he was dealing with—partly because he hadn’t opened up about it yet. That dynamic added a lot of emotional weight to the story.
I also really liked the slower burn romance. It wasn’t insta-spice. Yes, there’s definitely chemistry between them right away, but the relationship itself develops gradually. Watching the trust build between them made the romance feel more believable and meaningful.
Overall, this was a really enjoyable read for me. Between the racing backdrop, the emotional growth, and the slow build of the relationship, it ended up being a great book to pull me out of my slump. If you enjoy sports romances with some emotional depth and a slower developing relationship, this one is definitely worth checking out.
Happy reading friends, ~ Maebae 💚
I’m a fellow book lover reviewing the good, the bad, and everything bookish in-between. All thoughts, opinions, and reactions are completely my own. I wasn’t paid, sponsored, or influenced in any way.
I went into this as a total newbie to F1 romance, and it ended up being the perfect on-ramp: high-stakes atmosphere, a grounded emotional core, and a love story that felt tender without ever glossing over what the characters were carrying. The Formula 1 setting gives the story a constant hum of pressure—public scrutiny, tight schedules, and the expectation to perform even when your body and brain are screaming for a break. That backdrop isn’t just aesthetic here; it actively shapes the choices the characters make and raises the emotional stakes of even small moments. Niki was easily the standout for me. His health anxiety is written in a way that felt empathetic and specific—messy, persistent, and often exhausting—without turning him into a stereotype or a plot device. I appreciated that the book let him be capable and driven while still showing the very real mental math of trying to function through intrusive fears. Watching him learn what helps (and what doesn’t), and seeing how that intersects with a career that thrives on control and risk, made his arc genuinely compelling. Rosie and Niki’s relationship had the exact kind of chemistry I love: sweet, slightly awkward, and built on them paying attention to each other in small ways. Their “we’re figuring this out as we go” energy made the romance feel earned, and I liked that the story didn’t rely on contrived misunderstandings to generate tension. Instead, the conflict often comes from believable external pressure and the internal work of learning how to let someone in. Tabi also deserves a special mention. Her presence added warmth, and I loved seeing a supportive relationship that didn’t feel performative or preachy. She tries to understand what Niki is dealing with and how to show up for him in a way that respects his autonomy—something that’s surprisingly rare to see handled well. Style-wise, this felt like a character-forward romance with a strong sense of place: the racing world provides momentum, but the emotional beats are what linger. If you’re here for deeply interior character work—especially around anxiety and the ways it can shape love and everyday life—you’ll probably connect with this. Overall, I’d recommend this to readers who want a romance that’s soft, sincere, and emotionally attentive, with the added adrenaline of an F1 backdrop.
I received an ARC for this book, so I wanted to thank Rebecca Chase and Love Notes PR for sending it to me! I really, really enjoyed it.
In this book, we have Niki. He is Senna’s brother and Connor’s best friend. Niki suffered a bad accident that caused a lot of trauma for him. He turned into a germaphobe who is afraid of touching people, and for his “safety” and to deal with his anxiety, he decides to get away for some time to be alone.
And we have Rosie, a single mom who is struggling to make ends meet. Her sole focus is her daughter, but she still wants more for herself. She misses who she was before getting pregnant and misses who she thinks she will never be again. Working a job she basically hates, she doesn’t know what to do.
Do you know the saying about being in the right place at the exact right time? That’s what happens to these two. They meet in a way neither of them expects, and with their identities hidden, they feel like they can be who they want to be. After a kiss and a meaningful talk, they both leave changed.
A few weeks later, Niki is back. He is a backup driver for the Coulter team and is trying to deal with his new reality. He needs an assistant to make his life and his demanding routine a little easier, and in the middle of the sea of women doing interviews, who is there? Rosie.
They try to maintain the relationship strictly as boss and assistant. Rosie is able to help him get a little better, she makes his life easier, but on a personal level, the two of them are trying really hard not to fall for each other.
Rosie is an amazing person. She is just trying her best in life to be a good woman and a great mom. Tabi is one of the cutest kids I have ever read about, she is such a funny kid.
Niki is an amazing man too. He supports his sisters, he wants to make Rosie’s life better, he is dealing with his problems, and he has a cute dog. What else could you ask for?
When the barrier between boss and assistant is broken, they try to go back to normal, but they just can’t. They want each other too much, and they can’t stay away.
I loved, loved, loved this book, and I really appreciate that I got to read it before the release date. It’s an easy 5 ⭐️book for me! I’m really excited for the next one.🏎️📋
I finished my ARC of “Spun Out” by @rebeccahchase and I could NOT put it down. Absolutely amazing.
First: Rosie is one of the strongest FMCs I’ve come across in a while. My biggest complaint about most romance novels is that the 20-something FMC is so internally insecure that issues that could be discussed often get dragged out. Not the case here. Chase has developed Rosie into a vibrant young woman that knows she has to use her voice in order to keep growing. She has her insecurities, but they don’t hold her back. It’s refreshing.
Niki, the MMC, is a great example for our readers on how finding someone we can trust can help us to confront and grow when we are dealing with mental health issues. We learn early on that he deals with anxiety/germophobja after a devastating medical scare, but rather than hide from it we see him dealing with it throughout the book. It’s also wonderful to see why a MMC evolves as a person, and Chase does a great job at showing us how Niki thinks through things to continue becoming the best kind of green flag.
The spice heats up quickly at about the halfway point of the book and is both hot and steamy and incredibly sweet and sensual at the same time. Chase has done a great job in these scenes at showing the care that these characters have for each other which is truly wonderful. Where I fe that often the spicy scenes feel recycled and predictable, Chase’s spice is used to further develop the characters and their relationship.
The book highlights the excitement of the F1 racing world but does so in a way that shows that women could absolutely have a stronger place in it. As an F1 fan, I appreciated this. Coulter Racing gives me Williams Racing vibes - Senna Coulter gives me Claire Williams with the passion of Susie Wolff vibes. More women in F1 would be amazing.
Content warning: in addition to the mental health issues, two of the MCs’ parents are a bit overbearing/controlling (mild) and there is alcohol use in a few of the scenes.
Overall this book is amazing and I definitely recommend it for F1 fans who love a good HEA romance. Five first place podiums!
I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for a voluntary review. Opinions are strictly my own.
I was lucky enough to receive an eARC of Spun Out from Rebecca Chase and Love Notes PR!
I was so excited to dive back into the world of Coulter Racing, but admittedly, a little skeptical of Niki being our MMC. I fell so hard for Connor and Senna in Start Your Engines, and wasn't sure about Niki in that one.
I loved the idea of a single mom story, and when I saw Niki listed as a dog dad, figured this story sounded like it was right up my alley. I am SOOOO glad this is the story that Niki got. Spun Out not only dives deeper into the small insights that we got from Start Your Engines, but let him be vulnerable in the most authentic ways. His trauma and resulting anxiety were never brushed over, or mysteriously "solved" when it became inconvenient. Yes, there were people in his life who didn't understand it, partly because he hadn't opened up about what he was experiencing. But his growth in processing and understanding his own trauma, and opening up to those around him, were such a natural progression in this story.
My girl Rosie... I was rooting for her throughout the story, right along with Niki. Seeing her believe in herself and her dreams, and go for what she wants was such a delight. And her daughter Tabi is one of my favorite kids from a romance ever.
As a matter of fact, a LARGE part of why I loved this story so much was the growth and development of the side characters throughout the book. Tabi's relationship with Niki was absolute perfection. (The cinema scene will live rent free in my mind for the rest of time.) Seeing both Niki's and Rosie's parents admit their shortcomings and work to understand their children better was refreshing. Getting to see Senna and Connor and their dynamic from an outside perspective was like catching up with an old friend you haven't seen in a while. And learning more about other side characters (like Jacs, Tawny and Sasha) has me even more excited for future books in the series.
This is book 2 in the Coulter Racing series and it was absolutely brilliant. The story had a great mix of emotion, romance, humour and healing, I struggled to put the book down!
The story follows Niki, a former playboy F1 driver trying to rebuild his life and confidence after a traumatic accident, and Rosie — the woman he shared an unforgettable moment with on a Greek island. When fate throws them back together and Rosie ends up working as Niki’s assistant, the chemistry between them is impossible to ignore and burns hotter each time they are together. Add in the chaos of the racing world, Niki fighting his way back to the track while overcoming his own fears, and Rosie balancing life as a single mum, and you’ve got the perfect mix of tension, heart, and seriously beautiful face fanning moments.
I loved how this book balanced the high-octane Formula 1 setting with emotional depth. Niki’s struggles with anxiety and Rosie’s determination to build a stable life for her daughter made the characters feel real and easy to root for. The romance … the chemistry is off the charts — with just the right amount of angst, sweetness, and steam.
Packed with forced proximity, workplace tension, and a hero who falls hard and fast, Spun Out is an addictive sports romance that will keep you turning pages long past bedtime. If you’re a fan of F1 romances with heart, heat, and characters you can’t help but fall for, this one is an absolute must-read!
Tropes you can expect:
🏎️ F1 romance 🏁 driver x assistant 🏎️ Single mum 🏁 8 years age gap 🏎️ undercover cinnamon roll MMC 🏁 Forced proximity 🏎️ Billionaire romance
If you love fast cars, forbidden tension, and a romance that absolutely sparks, Spun Out completely delivers! This Formula 1 romance had me hooked from the first chapter and I devoured it in record time.
I received this book as an ARC and my honest review is below.
This is the first book in the series and while I think I would have had more of a connection to some of the side characters if I had read book 1, I don't think not having read it took away from my reading of Rosie and Niki's story.
I really wanted to love this book - a sports romance, a single parent, mental health representation - on paper I am sold. In practice, I didn't love how this book came together. This book weirdly felt like I was reading a screen play or a summary instead of a book and I felt like it made it really hard for me to connect to the characters. It's like I was watching them jump from scene to scene without feeling like I could envision myself within it.
If you are looking for an F1 romance that goes beyond the glamour of the track and dives deep into the realities of mental health, Spun Out delivers on all fronts. This book pairs the high-adrenaline world of racing with a deeply emotional, character-driven story of healing and second chances.
Niki’s journey is incredibly raw. After surviving a horrific crash and a near-fatal nosocomial (hospital-acquired) infection, his resulting germaphobia and severe health anxiety are handled with incredible care. He isn’t just looking to get back in the driver's seat; he is fighting to reclaim his life and his ability to let people in.
Enter Rosie. As a single mother trying to build her career, she takes a job as Niki’s assistant. Her background in sports psychology and her prior knowledge of his backstory make her uniquely equipped to help him navigate his triggers. The scene where she deliberately steps in front of Niki's father to protect Niki, even at the cost of looking a bit strange herself, is a beautiful testament to her fiercely protective nature.
Despite their professional boundaries, the instant attraction from their chance meeting is impossible to ignore. the story never gets bogged down by its heavier themes. The comedic relief is fantastic, and the banana hammock references are absolutely top-tier and will leave you in stitches!
Spun Out is a great read about accepting your mental health struggles and learning to lean on those around you. If you love F1 racing romances, single-mother tropes, forced proximity, and chance meetings with serious emotional depth, this is an absolute must-read.
Being new to this author's work I've been looking so forward to picking this book up! I got right into the Coulter Racing Team world. I enjoyed this story so much!
Niki and Rosie's journey captured my attention right away! Rosie is a single mom to daughter, Tabi. Niki is dealing with the aftermath of an accident. These two had a memorable first meeting and shared a kiss neither can forget. Now, Niki's back in the Formula 1 world with his family's team and Rosie has just become his new assistant. Will they take a chance and allow themselves to fall?
I really enjoyed the fact that Rosie and Niki's first meeting stuck with both of them and how they touched each other's lives. I truly connected with Niki as he was tackling health anxiety. I thought it was so cool how Rosie was into sports psychology. It was awesome to see Niki and Rosie be reunited, working together, lifting each other up, and their feelings grow into so much more.
Niki and Rosie got right into my heart! The realness poured from these two and their souls throughout. Rosie and Niki were both strong and relatable characters. The ways in which they opened up their hearts to one another was so beautiful to see. Niki and Rosie's chemistry and connection was so great. These two had me feeling a lot with them!
Tabi was too precious! Rosie was such a wonderful mom! It warmed my heart to see the moments Tabi shared with Niki and Rosie.
I was so glad that I got into the Coulter Racing Team world for the first time and what the other characters brought to the story! I really enjoyed what all that Formula 1 brought to this story.
With Spun Out, Ms.Chase has created such a good Forumla 1 romance that brought realness, heart, and feels! I appreciated how this author touched on health anxiety in this story. 💙🏎
I'm so looking forward to picking up more from this author and the Coulter Racing Team Series!
Take a look at the author's note about the content/triggers.
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Love Notes PR / the author*
Wow! what a great book full of growth and found love. Nikki and Rosie met by chance during a really difficult time in Nikki's life proceeding a crash that nearly killed him. They figured they would never see each other again, so they were bold and made the most of the situation until they both left and consequently moved on with their lives.
Rosie just wanted to provide the best life possible for her 4 year old daughter which meant she wanted to get a new, better paying job so she no longer needed to struggle financially as a single parent and could maybe finally pursue her own dreams she had to put to the side when she fell pregnant. Little did she know the new job was going to be the assistant for Nikki, the man she met in Greece months before.
They quickly learned they had a great working relationship that helped Nikki with his anxiety surrounding his health and getting sick. They developed strong feelings for each other that couldn't be ignored because they made life better for each other.
This book was very much what I needed for Nikki after his vague appearances in Start Your Engines. I knew there was so much more to his story that needed to be told to better understand his self imposed exile. Rosie brought out a new side of him and really helped him transform into a man who was worthy of her and her daughter's love.
Rosie and Nikki became such an amazing couple and showed that sometimes it just takes the right person to change everything for you. I cannot wait to see what Rebecca Chase writes next because I know it'll be great!
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book, and overall it was an enjoyable read!
This is a sports romance set in the world of Formula 1, featuring an age-gap relationship, a friends-to-lovers dynamic, and a single parent. I enjoyed the overall pacing of the story, and the F1 setting gave the book a slightly different feel from many romances in the genre, which helped it stand out.
One of the aspects I appreciated most was the representation of health anxiety, which was explored thoughtfully and sensitively throughout the story, which really stuck with me. I also enjoyed the relationships between the main characters and the wider cast, who all added to the story without taking over.
The main reason this ended up being a three-star read for me was that I sometimes found it difficult to follow the emotional progression between the characters. Their feelings often seemed to shift quite quickly between opposites, which made the emotional side of the romance a little harder to track.
Towards the end, there were also a few plot points that felt slightly rushed or not fully developed, as though they were introduced to move the story toward the final climax but weren’t explored much beyond that.
Although this book is part of a series, I hadn’t read the previous installment and was still able to follow everything easily, so it definitely works as a standalone.
Overall, this was a nice story with some strong character moments and a thoughtful exploration of health anxiety.
First, I would like to thank Love Notes PR and Rebecca Chase for allowing me to read an ARC of Spun Out.
This book was so much more than a F1 romance, it does a great job of showcasing the struggles of mental health. In this case Niki (mmc) deals with health anxiety after a serious accident almost leads to him losing his life. Rosie (fmc) is a single mom who feels like she cannot live her life anymore because she must provide a stable environment for her daughter. She was even willing to give up her dream to become a sports psychologists for young athletes. Rosie and Niki meet while in Greece under different names, but I loved how that one night they helped each other understand that they are stronger than what they believe and that they can accomplish whatever they put their minds to. They meet again when Rosie interviews to become Niki’s new assistant. I enjoyed reading about Niki’s journey, how he slowly overcomes his health anxiety especially around his friends and family. Rosie was a big help for Niki and never pressured him, but always made him feel normal. I also loved how cute Niki was with Tabi (Rosie’s daughter). Especially when Niki told Tabi that it was okay to be scared and that it was nothing to be embarrassed about. Tabi was the cutest little girl ever, she was so sweet every time she made sure that everyone sanitized their hands before touching Niki. Their connection was the sweetest thing ever! I enjoyed reading every second of this book and I look forward to whoever story is next.
Firstly, thank you to Love Notes PR and Rebecca Chase for this ARC.
The first thing that drew me to this book was the cover; it caught my attention straight away. But also the F1, single-parent aspect of the book; they always pull me straight in.
I really enjoyed Niki’s character and getting to see things from his perspective. I think the author did really well with the representation of somebody struggling with health anxiety and PTSD. It really gave you more of an insight into how he became the person he is now and let us understand his character more.
Rosie was no different; I really like her character also. She always knew what to do or say before anyone could say anything. She was such a caring person, and that showed a lot with how she treated those in her life. I think the part I loved the most about her was that she always stuck her ground and knew what came first in her life and made that clear to everyone.
I loved the friendships and found family in this book; it really added to the story. I think one of the best parts was getting to see the relationships being made and developing throughout the book. Especially the bond Niki made with Tabi.
With that all being said, I really enjoyed the plot and the back and forth between the characters; I think that really added to the story and just pulls you straight in.
I’m excited to read more by Rebecca, especially this series. Happy Reading🫶
Oh my god, this book, this book was so different from all other books because Nikki’s health anxiety is something I’ve never read about before and it was so well written, I was hurting for him and his struggles but I was also rooting for him because I knew he would be better than the old Nikki; it was so beautiful reading how he managed to slowly hug her family again and how Rosie was there helping him every step is the way 🥹❤️🩹
Of course the moment they met was so epic and the fact that they both faced their fears at that Kent and promised to chase for their dreams without knowing their paths will be crossing again was so good!!! I love how good Nikki was with Rosie and Tabi, how he was trying to get better for himself, but also for them, because he wanted to be the man they deserved even when he already was 😩❤️ and Rosie, my girl, she’s such a superhero, raising Tabi, pausing her dreams and always putting Tabi first, helping Nikki and loving him without conditions, she deserves everything and more! And drunk Rosie was definitely my favorite Rosie 🙂↔️
The mental health representation here was so important and I think it was even much more important than the romance, because it’s a reality, and I loved how the author managed to write Nikki’s story dealing with his anxiety and letting us walk with him through it with Rosie and Tabi, it was such a beautiful book and I can’t wait to read more of this characters ✨
Spun Out follows former F1 champion Niki, who walks away from racing after an accident leaves him battling health anxiety. After a kiss with a stranger on a Greek island, he returns home to work for his family’s F1 team – only to discover that the mystery woman is now his assistant. Then there’s Rosie, a single mum who shared a kiss with a stranger on a Greek island and returns home inspired to provide for her daughter. She lands a job interview – only to discover the mystery man she kissed is now her boss…
Anything F1 and romance related, I’m there! The story focuses heavily on Rosie being a single mum to her daughter Tabi and how she just wants to provide the best life possible for her. Her entire world revolves around her daughter, and that responsibility shapes every decision she makes, especially when it comes to Niki. The chemistry between Rosie and Niki is undeniable, and the spice level is definitely there – if you like your romances steamy, this delivers. The mental health representation stood out in a big way and felt just as important as the romance. The Greek island backstory plus the secret-keeping added just enough tension to keep things interesting.
That said, I did wish the book leaned more into the F1 world rather than using it as more of a backdrop – and slightly less time in the bedroom.
The vibes – single-mum romance, forced proximity, F1 romance, and anxiety rep.
⭐️⭐️⭐️½ Spun Out by Rebecca Chase (rounded up to 4 stars) I rated Spun Out 3.5/5 stars, and as a huge Formula 1 fan, this was such a fun read—especially since it was my first F1 romance. I loved getting to read a story centered around this sport because it’s not something you see as often in romance. The release timing alongside the first race of the season felt especially perfect. I really enjoyed the characters, particularly Rosie, Niki, and Tabi. Niki’s struggles with anxiety and the way Rosie helps him manage those moments showed the strength of their connection. Tabi was such a fun character, and Rosie stood out as both a wonderful mother and a dedicated assistant, balancing so many responsibilities. The push-and-pull dynamic between Niki and Rosie was entertaining at the start, and once their relationship began to evolve, I absolutely devoured the second half of the book. It was really satisfying to see their connection grow and deepen. If you’re looking for spice, this book definitely delivers. Some of the scenes were a bit more descriptive than I typically prefer, and at times it took me slightly out of the story. However, the emotional development between the characters and the racing world kept me engaged. Overall, Spun Out was a fun introduction to F1 romance for me, and I’m excited to see more stories exploring this high-speed world. 🏎️📚
