Two college students desperate to live out the high school glory days they never had fall for each other in this silly and sweet romcom manga! This fun and escapist (non-)age gap romance is brimming with youthful nostalgia and perfect for fans of My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv 999 and In the Clear Moonlit Dusk. Wakaba Kayano is a 20-year-old college student who was too busy studying in high school to experience the quintessential personal milestones of her teenage years, like going on an afterschool date. In a moment of desperation, she goes out on Halloween in her old high school uniform in an effort to take back some of those heart-fluttering experiences she never had, and in doing encounters Fumito, a boy clad in the quintessential high school boy uniform. Whisked away on the date of her dreams, she panics when forced to reveal her true age--only to find out that Fumito is in college, too!

Yeah, I know, it’s just a romance story. But it might legitimately be the perfect romance story and it feels incredibly wholesome without being utterly toothless. This volume just executes on literally every level.

I love how Fumito and Wakaba’s friends are so supportive, yet they’re also total pains in the ass, the way that good friends typically are. Especially college-age friends. Especially lonely college-age friends.

There’s also a very clear delineation between Wakaba’s gal pals and their endless imagination for romantic entanglements and the dunking that Fumito’s crew gives him. That they all keep bumping into each other the whole volume is a great running gag.

Yet it’s the slow progression of Wakaba and Fumito that makes this such a wonderful little manga. They are just the absolute sweetest together and I love how Fumito is basically incapable of hiding his affection, sometimes to his own dismay.

Wakaba remains amazing and thoughtful and her endless faces continue to be one of my favourite features. It is literally the best when she makes her giant big-eyed reactions to everything.

Most of this is centred around Christmas and New Year’s and the quest to confess feelings or see where the other person stands or, as the bystanders would have it, to ‘just start dating already’.

The challenges here, such as they are, just involve this resolution and otherwise it’s a lot of hanging out and dates. But the chemistry is so strong that it doesn’t matter. Both these two appreciate what they have in the other so much that it’s pure pleasure to watch.

And when Wakaba is forced to bring Fumito home? Well, let’s just say that it doesn’t come with the usual angst that you might expect. If anything, the family is way too eager to accept Fumito. Wakaba’s brother silently earns MVP in the background here.

The series’ central conceit has definitely gone by the wayside, but the ways it keeps cropping back up are fun and entirely believable. It’s kind of become their ‘thing’ and I see why they’d keep it going.

If you want rivals and drama and all that, this is not that manga. It is one of the coziest romances I’ve read in ages and it still manages to be incredibly charming and sweet about it. I find it impossible not to root for Fumito and Wakaba and I’m looking forward to where they go next.

4.5 stars - I guess a half point off for originality, but this is so well written and made my day better for having read it. It literally doesn’t do a thing wrong. Pretty hard to say it deserves less than a full five stars on that basis, so there we go.

4.5 to 5 stars. This is a cute and creative breath of fresh air, where a couple in college is so sweet and nice while still having realistic flaws and behaviors. I am enjoying this so much.

Ohhhh this volume was TOO CUTE! So fluffy and sweet. I just love Waka and Fumito so much. I love their funny little awkward moments. I can totally relate to it lol. Also, their friends are hilarious.
Only 2 volumes left. Looking forward to seeing Waka and Fumito as an actual couple now.

The self-proclaimed leader of the Waka-chan fan club here to let you know this volume is even better than the last one. Be prepared for adorableness, wholesomeness, enough moe to drive a comet into the sun, and excellent facial expressions (for comedy and cuteness). It continues to be such a sweet, feel good story.

Review & rating to be adjusted once series complete.

This was not on my radar at all and I'm really glad I stumbled across the eARC (volume 1) because oh my goodness this is one of the cutest and most entertaining shoujo manga I have read in a long time. College student Wakana feels regret over missed experience during her high school years as she was just too busy with her studies. Now in her twenties, she takes the opportunity to dress up in her old high school uniform for Halloween eve, only to bump into Fumito with whom she shares an unexpected first ever high school date.

I almost want to say this is best enjoyed going in blind, though the official blurb already gives certain elements away, but it is what it is. This was such an adorable series opener and really reflects nicely on that feeling of days in our youth I'm sure we all look back to from time to time. The art is really cute and appropriately funny in the right moments. Wakana is such an adorable character - she's got a really great energy and simply fun to read about. Fumito is also a really neat character with how he encourages Wakana's unabashed excitement. This was pure, drama-free, feel good entertainment and a refreshing story that still offers many beloved shoujo tropes in its own way. Absolutely recommended!

It takes nearly the entire volume, but we do finally get some resolution between these two putting them on the same path, not that it seems to have really changed much between them other than an official label. This is even more obvious given their outings together and the interactions with their friends and family over the holidays. It's a really good thing that Fumito is okay with Wakaba's own oddities and is willing to roll with all the costume changes considering how they keep falling into their laps rather literally. Maybe things will change now that they're on the same page, or maybe they'll keep going the same way they have been, just a little more secure in their standing. Will have to see how things roll with this slow burn (very slow burn).

Enjoyed this one more than the previous volume. The FL was a bit less goofy in this one. My fav chapter was the first one when she was with her friends and they were imagining all the cute things they would do as a couple together. I LOVE her friends they are so nice and supportive. The whole this is so fluffy and sugary sweet. They are they same page on what they want and were they are at.

I wish the author had drawn him in that dinosaur zippy though, that was too cute.

Super cute and wholesome so far. No drama, no second leads, just pure adorable-ness. Love how the FL is so forthright with her emotions and the ML completely embraces her silly side.

I did not expect them to get together as fast as they did. I’m not usually a fan of holiday themed chapters but these were cute chapters
