Tuck in the Pool
The only thing Tuck doesn't like about swimming lessons is the water. He worries that water might get in his ears and feel awful. Or it might get in his eyes! "You'll get used to that," says his mom. "Your eyes are waterproof," says his swim teacher. "I'm not going swimming," says Tuck. So no one is more surprised than Tuck when he heroically takes the plunge--and finds out he can get into the swim of things after all.

A cute story about a pig who is willing to get into the swimming pool, but doesn't want to get water in his ears, or put his face in the water. Tuck, the main character, brings is lucky toy spider to swim class, and pats him when he needs more courage. This works till the spider is knocked into the pool. Then Tuck bravely drives to the bottom to save spider, and over comes his fears.
I liked how this story specifically talks about how Tuck doesn't want to get water in his eyes, or in his ears. For children who are nervous about swim lessons, this character is someone they can relate to, though I don't see it helping anyone overcome their fears.

This was super cute, and it is great to read if your child is afraid to go swimming.

November 27, 2011Tuck doesn't like the pool because he is afraid of going underwater. His spider falls in and he has to save him by going under. He faces his fear and begins to love the water. Good for a lesson on trying new things. Also good for twin consonant words.

This was a good story to read while wanting my kids to learn to swim. Tuck is cute and relatable, and he overcomes his fear because he loves something more than his fear of the water.
My four and six-year-old enjoyed it.

I got this book to try to ease the boys' fear of getting into the pool. It didn't, but they still like the story, especially Tuck's pet spider Snyder.

my child is like the main character in this story. I'll have to check it out again this summer when we're trying to get him to be comfortable in the pool

A story of a little pig taking swimming lessons and how he learns to overcome his fear of water getting in his ears and eyes. Rather sweet.
