Rehab’s taught him a lot, but when his time runs out and he finds himself with nowhere to turn, he seeks help from the one person he’s capable of destroying.

Olivia Carter fell in love the day she met Spencer Bradley. Despite him being responsible for the downfall of his best friend’s career and landing himself in rehab, she can’t bring herself to stay away—even if it means risking her own recovery.

My love of romance novels are epic. Now add in awareness to a cause or health issue and I'm enthralled.

The topic the author presented Liv with shattered my heart. This character whom I felt a connection with was strong yet has personal demons she is fighting while being strong enough to be there for Spencer.

In the last book I found Spencer to be a worthless piece of crap that allowed his friends to pay tor his sins and debts. In this book we discover a different side of Spence. A stronger person who learns what is important and faces his own demons head on. It earned my respect and yes......I fell in love with him.

Liv and Spencer's story is not the cute girl meets guy, falls in love / lust type of story. It is deep with characters who are real and with baggage. This will grab hold of your emotions and heartstrings and have you cheering the good fight and secretly wanting more.

We have great characters, an intense, deep storyline that will have your crying, smiling and praying for a HEA.
Note: this is a great series that you won't want to see end.

Great details with strength, love and hope braided into one hell of a story and the need tor a HEA.

unDefeated is the third book in the Wayward Fighters series. I haven’t read any of the previous books in the series and because of that I felt like I didn’t get as much out of the book as I would have if I knew the backstory. I was a little confused when I started unDefeated because they kept referencing to Spencer and Olivia’s big blow up and break up, but didn’t give any specifics or back story so I was constantly wondering what was the final straw that broke up this couple. Once I got over the confusion in the beginning of the book I liked where the story went and how there was a character reversal.

UnDefeated starts with Spenser in rehab for his gambling addiction trying to come to terms with everything he had done and all those he has hurt. He thinks he destroys everyone who is close to him so to protect the ones he loves he believes he needs to stay away so they will no longer be tainted by him. That’s why he refuses to see Olivia when she tries to come visit him every week, believing that he will do nothing but cause her more pain, but when he gets released from rehab he realizes he has nowhere to go or anyone to turn to other than the one women who he constantly turned away. And now that he is around her again he realizes that he can’t be away from her and is going to try to stay on the straight and narrow path to be the man she deserves.

Although Spenser and Olivia are no longer together she still loves him with all her heart and would do anything to help him on his road to recovery. That’s what even after being turned down week after week Olivia opens her door to Spenser to give him a place to stay and tries to become the rock that he needs.

When everything doesn’t fall into place for Spenser as easily as he thought they would, he has a few backslides which not only breaks Olivia’s heart all over again but also jeopardizes Olivia’s recovery and brings her back to a dark place unable to crawl herself out of.

Seeing his Olivia like this is the determination Spenser needs to become the man she needs and now it’s his turn to help the women he loves.

“We’re going to get through this together, Liv,” he said fiercely. “No more hiding. No more lies. Together.”

“You don’t have to do this alone. I’m here. You can trust me, Liv. Anything you need, I’ll take care of it. I’ll take care of you.”

I love the man Spenser turn into when Olivia needed him the most and how in the beginning it was Olivia who was helping Spenser but then the roles reversed and Spenser became the rock Olivia needed.

Spencer is great for Olivia's confidence, "don’t go getting embarrassed on me,” Spencer admonished. “I like that you used me. Getting you off is my pleasure.” With a wan smile, he reached between them and ran his fingers through his semen. “Obviously." He knows how to put his foot down, "we’re going to The Keys,” he murmured. “If I need underwear, then you’re doing something wrong. And I already told you, I’m not attending the wedding." I enjoyed this book I thought Spencer and Olivia were perfect for each other.

ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review and I'm gonna tell ya that honestly, phenomenal!!

Everything that happened in this story I felt deep down to my soul. J.C. Valentine didn't just write a story here, she painted a picture for me with her magical writing skills that put me right smack in the middle of this tortured tale. The angst and the turmoil left me completely drained and in need of a detox read ASAP! I loved every single minute of it!

This story is real people. It happens every day. It could happen to you. Addictions of any kind are powerful and can render even the strongest of us weak. It is a scientific fact and indisputable. But they can be fought. It's a dirty fight, but it can be won. You may lose a battle here and there, but you CAN win the war. Unfortunately, this is a war you cannot win alone. If you try, you will fail. Again, indisputable. OK, so enough about addictions. Let's talk about this story.

This is the story of Spencer and Olivia. I think Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here would make a perfect theme song for their story. Both Spencer and Olivia are truly lost soul swimming in their own fishbowls riddled with baggage and demons. Spencer's addiction has cost him everything. But he fights back! He goes to rehab and he fights! When rehab is done he has no one to turn to except .... Olivia. Olivia is one of the strongest female leads I have read in a very long time. What an exceptional job J.C. Valentine did with her character!! She is there for Spencer every step of the way, even when Spencer wasn't there himself. Every week she came to rehab to visit and support and every week Spencer never received her. But she went. Every week. Why? ... well, love of course! You see, Olivia didn't see in Fletcher what Fletcher saw in himself. He saw himself as worthless. So he thinks Olivia needs to be far far away from him. So he pushes her away. Over and over again. Love doesn't always conquer all. So after a lot pushing by Spencer and the constant pressure of her friends to move on with her life, Olivia begins to do just that. But then ....WHAM, he's back! Spencer is out of rehab and has no place to go. Everything he owns and everything he 'was' is gone. He only has one place to turn to, one person ... Olivia.
This is the point that Olivia shines the best. You see, Spencer hurt her pretty badly. He pushed her away. He threw their love away. Yet she still opens the door for him to step through. GAH, just thinking back on all of this is breaking my heart all over again! Olivia doesn't come without her own demons and baggage. She has a tortured past that has riddled her with insecurities. She's fought her own battle with addiction and come out on the other side. But will being there for Spencer cost her her own battle or will they come together and fight those demons with a force to be reckoned with? READ THIS STORY AND LET ME KNOW ! You won't regret it! #TRUST

This is a powerful story this reader believes is told flawlessly. It's a story of love, friendship, hope, redemption, sacrifice, addiction & recovery ..... in a word, LIFE!
Get ready to love and hate...laugh and cry, bust most of all, get ready to BELIEVE ! #TRUTH

**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**

I read this as a stand alone not reading anything else in this series. I do wish I knew more of Spencer's back story, it was explained but not the full level of his issue with gambling and what Jami did for him. Not having the information didn't hinder the read at all but just my personal opinion to read all books in series first.

Two people with very addictive personalities can they make it in a relationship? Does understand what the other people is going through help or hurt the relationship? Spencer gambled, a lot apparently. He goes to rehab to get his self together. He knows he's hurt the people that mean the most to him. Who will be there waiting when he gets out?

Liv has her own issues, but Spencer is her home, her addiction. Can she say no when he asks for forgiveness? Can they make it work? Can he prove he's changed?

UnDefeated is a quick read. For me I felt it lacked the chemistry between the two MC's. There were some sweet sensitive interactions but no real chemistry. Ally and Jami with their limited scenes seemed to have more chemistry between them. It maybe since this is my first look at these characters it didn't hold the emotional attachment for me compared to someone that's read all the books in the series.

Gosh where should I start? This was one of the most heart wrenching books I've read in a while. After reading only a few chapters I found myself crying. unDefeated is the first book I've read from J.C Valentine. I read the overview and I knew right away that it was something I wanted to read.
Spencer and Olivia were two broken souls. Though they came from different backgrounds, they connected because of their unwavering love for each other. Spencer had a gambling addiction. Olivia was fragile, had trust issues and often cut herself whenever things get tough. For a long time Olivia had been the stronger one in their relationship, holding it all together. Then the pressure finally got to her and she broke. I felt the pain of these characters as if it were my own. Dealing with addiction and trust issues and all the others problems that came up as a couple, had it's ups and downs and there were a few setbacks along the way. I liked that the author took us inside the head of Spencer and Olivia to see what they were thinking. See how they struggled with their thoughts, to keep it together and not fall into old habits (a battle which they don't always win.) This was one awesome read. Even thought this book is part of a series, I felt it had all the details needed to be read as a standalone. I was given an ARC for an honest review. I loved J.C's storytelling ability and will certainly be checking out and reading more books written by her.

This is a very well written story with a strong story-line and I really enjoyed the characters in the book and could really connect with them. They were characters that were human with issues like your average every day person can have. The connection between the H and h in the story is strong and well-recognized right from the very beginning of the book. Ms Valentine does an excellent job of portraying their love for each other right from the start. Before we really actually knew either Spencer or Olivia very well, you could feel the love that they have for each other. This is actually the 3rd book in the Wayward Fighter's Series but the first one that I have read. I had no trouble following the story line, but I will be reading books 1 and 2 before any more books to this series are released! Both of them have addiction that they need to overcome and other issues that they need to learn to live with and things in their past that they need to forgive themselves for before they can be a true couple and be a support system for each other. Once they are able to truly commit they do find out that love can truly conquer all.

***Received an ARC of this book from the author for an unbiased and honest review***

This book was an unexpected treat for me to read. Having met the main character of Spencer in the previous books, I have to say, I wasn’t always a fan. What I do happen to be a fan of is redemption, along with change and righting one’s wrongs to be a better person than you were before and because of that, I knew I was going to love Spencer and Olivia’s story.

I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest.

Because this was and is a Wayward Fighters novel, I knew that I was going to get glimpses of Aly and Jamison and in that regard it was hand delivered in spades. It was nice, having the break away from this series to come back to it and relive previous books all over again through the various appearances they made throughout. Remember the struggles and everything they’d gone through to get them to their happy ending.

A formula that because it had worked in the past, I knew was going to work here. And did work here.

What should be stated first and foremost where Spencer and Olivia’s story is concerned is that it deals with some pretty heavy subject matter. Anyone that has ever experienced self-harm and may even to this day struggle with it should be aware that it is present in this story. It is not sugar coated or glossed over either. It shows the struggle one faces in a very realistic and often times harsh light, but also shines down a beacon of hope in that amongst the darkest of moments, there is a light at the end. One can be happy and have the life and the happiness that often times they believe they can’t. While it may have been hard to read in spots because of this, the author as is her style, handed it with class and dignity and for that, she has earned my respect.

On the other end of the spectrum we have Spencer with his demons. He is an addict and his drug of choice happens to be gambling and there are moments within this story where his struggle is shown and again, just as was done above, was written in a way that made it appear very realistic to me. Addiction is a tricky subject to tackle, but when you can take it and right it from a very real place, it’s gold.

So put two real yet damaged and broken people together and what do you get? You get a story that isn’t all sunshine and roses. A relationship that has so many rocky points you wonder if they can ever see the way clear and be happy and people who before they can forgive each other need to be able to forgive themselves. What you also get is a story that by the end, leaves you feeling that maybe, just maybe, these two are going to be alright.

I wanted a bit more of a concrete ending with these two, but I get the feeling that it was written in such a way that it does leave it open ended so that should the author and the characters come together again, we as the readers can be given another glimpse into their lives later on down the line. It is a very good ending, but the ease at which it could be built and expanded on in the future is great. And it would please this reader a ton to see more of them because it kind of sucked saying goodbye to such real characters.

The pacing of this story is much the same I’ve come to be used to with the author in that it moved consistently throughout and never once did I feel that it dragged or got boring. The authors writing style is incredibly enjoyable and her ability to create engaging characters utterly fantastic.

This book has love, it has heartbreak, a boat load of pain, along with the struggle to change, be redeemed and be better than you were before, growth and realizations. To sum it up and say it just fits in one genre alone and it’s strictly a romance would be doing it a disservice because it is so much more.

So if you have a penchant for reading something that’s more than just what it’s labeled and that takes you on quite an emotional ride, this book is for you. J.C. Valentine for this reader has hit another one of out the park and I’m happy that I got the chance to read it before its official release.

unDefeated (Wayward Fighters #3) by J.C. Valentine

Spencer Bradley came from a rough childhood never having a real home or a loving family. His best friend Jamison was all he had in the world. Too bad, he ruined any chance he had of having Jamison in his life. Spencer’s lies and addiction to gambling cost Jamison his fighting career and Spencer everything he ever loved. After hitting rock bottom, he checks himself into rehab. He learns a lot about addiction and about himself. After completing his time in rehab, he has nowhere else to go. He finds himself seeking the help of the only woman he’s ever loved who actually may have loved him back. Can he show her he’s a changed man or will his demons get the better of him and destroy everything he holds dear?

Olivia Carter fell head over heels in love with the brooding Spencer Bradley the moment she laid eyes on him. She knew he had problems but no one was perfect least of all her. Olivia hid her own addictions and struggles with staying in recovery every day. She knows what it’s like to feel alone in the world. So when Spencer shows up on her doorstep needing her help she won’t turn him away, she will help him anyway she can--- even if it destroys her in the process.

My Thoughts :

This is the third and final book in the Wayward Fighter’s series by J.C. Valentine. You can read as a standalone novel, but I recommend reading the entire series.

Spencer and Olivia’s story is very different from the previous books. Both of them are fighting their battles, but outside the ring. When we meet Spencer in Knockout and Tapout he was a mess trying to keep all his lies together and his gambling problem a secret. In the end, his addiction cost him his best friend and the woman he loved.

I always liked Spencer I knew there was more to his story and J.C. Valentine did a fantastic job. She tells a tale of addiction, lost friendship, lost love and recovering it all through a process of therapy and faith in yourself.

Spencer is a hero with many faults, but admitting them is half the battle. Olivia has secrets of her own. Her childhood was no picnic. To cope, she started cutting herself. She tries very hard to keep it together and not allow the stress of life to make her fall back into old habits. Unfortunately, her insecurities come creeping back when Spencer shows up on her doorstep looking for a place to stay. Why now she wonders when he ignored her efforts to be there for him while he was in rehab? Following this couple as they learn how to trust each other was a pleasure to read. It doesn’t take long for them to begin to fall for each other all over again. Their sex scenes are hot, exciting and fun their sexual chemistry is explosive. Spencer steps up and comes to realize that taking care of Olivia is what he needs in order to continue on the right path for his own recovery. She is his home anywhere she is that’s where he wants to be.

I really felt that the author expressed the pain and sorrow of addiction in a very real way. I applaud anyone who works hard at staying in recovery like Spencer and Olivia it is truly a daily battle. This is an emotional love story that tore at my heart as I felt for both the couple who could only find salvation in each other.

I'm so glad J.C. Valentine wrote this! By the end, I feel Spencer is finally redeeming himself. Though there were a few times he buggered up in this, by the end, he was a completely different dude.

My opinion on Olivia has changed though. I'm really not sure I like her anymore, generally because she spent most of the time either acting like a petulant brat or nagging the crap out of Spencer when she said she wouldn't. She blows hot and cold. I loved her in the two previous books but she just irritated me a lot in this one. Don't get me wrong, I understand what she's going through, and her own personal addiction used to be my own, I feel that her reaction to Spencer getting rid of the things she kept hidden was a bit OTT.

I have no idea how this couple made it to the end without one killing the other *insert laughing emoji*. Most people would say they were doomed from the start, but they've really made it work and I'm happy they have. They're two peas in the same pod really, which makes for an interesting read when they clash.

I still love Jami and Ally!!! Absolutely love those two characters and I'm over the moon for their HEA; or... ongoing HEA.

Seriously, this series should be in movie theatres around the globe. They're absolute genius and awesome personified.

Highly recommend this series if you love MMA and Alpha Males - the caveman kind.

Much praise to this incredible author and her editor. Very well written. Each book, I found myself completely hooked from the very start!!

Ok, so shot me… but I can’t help myself I just love a fighter series and this is the third book in the Wayward Fighter Series by the super talented JC Valentine and picking right up where Tapout left off we are thrown into Spencer and Olivia’s story.
Now I have to say that I haven’t been a Spencer fan up until now but he comes out fighting and I have to say he has won me round.
We know that Spencer is an addict, he has a gambling addition that has ruled him for too long and like many addicts he has now eventually reached the bottom of his particular barrel. But it has been a long, slow and particularly unceremonious slide to the hell that he is now wallowing it and he has no-one to blame but himself.
He has lost his friend Jamison and in the process cost Jamison everything he wanted but Spencer is not immune to that pain, he knows what he has done and there is no-one that can make him feel any worse than he already does but he knows that he has to sort himself out, no-one can do it for him and in his first step towards me actually seeing the new man, he books himself into a rehabilitation centre and decides to sort his shit out!
So good start in my book, I was rooting for him all the way, but that is not to say that he didn’t irk me profusely throughout the book. He loved to wallow and despite the fact that Olivia turned up at the facility to see him every week, he refused to see her – consoling himself with the fact that he was doing her a favour, protecting her from him and the trouble that seems to hang around him like a bad smell- honestly man get over it! He was hanging her out to dry and it was infuriating!!
No matter what he did, she still desperately tried to stand by him until her friend Allison had eventually had enough and intervened. She made it clear that she couldn’t help Spencer if he wouldn’t let her and now was time for her to move on.
Reluctantly and with a heavy heart – Olivia agreed to a blind date. Now I had no idea how this was going to play out but when Spencer rocks up at her door with nothing and nowhere to go following his stint in rehab, there was only ever going to be one outcome – he had gone to the one person he knew would be there for him – Olivia.
Well I get that he was presumptuous and that he had been rude and pig headed by ignoring her but he needed her and she just couldn’t let him fight what he was going through alone.
I loved the support that she was willing to give to him and I have to say that I also loved the way she was frank and forthright with him but what melted my soul was when she was facing her own demons and it was then that the love Spencer had for her made sense to him and he knew that he had to supply her the same support as she had given him. He finally knew what it was like to love and be loved in return.
They were starting to make a dent in the baggage that they carried but they have a way to go but I have everything crossed for the pair of them and I hope to hear more of their particular story as the series continues.

" unDefeated" is the third in J.C Valentine's Wayward Fighter Series, the story picks up shortly after the conclusion of " Tapout" ( Jamison and Allison's story). This book picks up with Spencer and Olivia's story, a story of recovery, redemption and love.
If you have been following the series, you already know that Spencer has a gambling addiction that has cost him the freindship of the man he considers a brother , Jamison, but also cost Jamison his dream. Spencer feels horrible for it , he feels he does not deserve anyone ; he is no good , just brings trouble to everyone and everything he touches. Finally having hit rock bottom Spencer commits himself to a rehab facility , though he is making strides toward recovery he keeps pushing Olivia ( Liv ) away. Olivia comes every Thursday to visit and every Thursday he avoids her, he cares so much for Olivia he is willing to keep himself away from her to avoid hurting her in the future , not realizing he is hurting her while trying to protect her from himself.
Olivia wants to support Spencer in his recovery she is proud of him for getting help and even though he never comes to the visitors room she always leaves him some money in his account at the facility so he can buy some personnel items , but after weeks of being turned away her Bff Aly( Allison) , talks her into trying to move on and go on a blind date .
Of course Liv can not imagine caring for anyone the way she did Spencer but she agrees but just as she s getting back on track trying to move on, Spencer, shows up at her doorstep, having been released from the rehab facility with limited funds, his apartment and belongings gone , the only place , the only person he thinks to go to is Liv.

As mad as Liv is at Spencer, she can not turn him away, she cares too much and he needs someone to support him through his recovery or he will backslide, unfortunately for Liv it is going to come a cost, her own recovery and her heart.
Liv has never shared her own emotional issues with anyone but Spencer , so when he does something that sends Liv plummeting back into her own damaging addiction , Spencer's love for her overrides his own needs and he steps up to support her. These two have their up and downs and a long way to go, but they are on the same road and fixing broken relationships together.
I could not put the book down, I am ver much looking foward to the next in the series. Though this book is part of a series it can be read as a standalone , there is more than enough backround story given to read as such. If you have the chance though read the while series. You will not be sorry, Ms Valentine writes wonderful stories , with in depth charaters and intense story lines.

This is the story of two broken people, but two who deal with their shattered pieces differently.

Spencer is an addict -- to gambling. After a bet fine terribly wrong, he lost what few friends he had and spent time at an inpatient rehab center. Every Thursday, he was granted visitors and while he knew she showed, he couldn't face the one person he cared about the most, the one person he thought was better off without him.

Liv has her own demons, but having grown up in a highly social world, she learned to cover them up. To anyone she meets, she's just a normal girl. Very few people know her secrets and the one person who does, the one person she cant help but care for regardless of his actions, keeps trying to push her away.

We first met Olivia and Spencer in KNOCKOUT (Side note: it's free! Side note 2: not totally necessary to read). As their friendship grows to more, it is highly evident that Liv's best friend, Ally, does not approve of Spence for her. While I did not read TAPOUT, I'm guessing the brunt of Spencer's mistakes happen in that book. Again, not necessary to read but UNDEFEATED left me curious to know more.

Back to Ally not caring for Spencer. Obviously the woman is going to stick up for her man, but she could be brutal about him when trying to pull Olivia away. It was no wonder Spencer felt like he had no one. He was trying to fix his wrongs but felt like his apologies were falling on deaf ears.

I enjoyed watching Spencer heal and grow as a man. He always loved Liv, and was terrified of going to her especially when pushing her away the previous weeks, but Liv cared for him too, and continuously gave him chance after chance. It took some fighting and Liv falling to her demons for Spencer to realize that he had something to fight for.

These two had the ability to be in a seriously toxic relationship, but "it takes one to know one" and the noted "love conquers all" allows them to heal together. Both of their problems aren't problems that can be solved over night-- they are issues that will take years to overcome and will always lurk in the shadows but if there's one thing that these two show one another again and again in their story, it's that they will always have the other's back.

Always.

On a less serious note? These two have really fun times too! I was laughing during a conversation about inappropriateness...

I really loved these two and watching their healing process. I felt that JC Valentine did a very good job on both Spencer and Olivia's problems; she hit all of the emotions and thought processes head on.

You meet some new characters who are clearly from previous books but these characters have their own arc and are only secondary characters here, so you don't need their stories to understand who they are to Spencer and Liv.

I loved this series. It was amazing. I haven't read a book about addicts in recovery in a while , and they are struggling to become full humans again. Having left his rehab, Spence doesn't have anyone he can go to. His past actions burnt all the bridges he once had, and now he has to rebuild his life all alone. Liv has always loved Spence and when he went away he took her heart with him, she's slowly building her life without him in it, even though she doesn't want to. Her friends all want her to move on but she can't without her heart.

These two are amazing characters to read, and it made me enjoy the story more, especially when you realize that Spencer was originally an anti hero and a character that wasn't the best character at all. He's done everything for his next fix and it cost a few people their livelihoods and of course has broken way too many hearts along the way. Olivia is a child of privilege and her life hasn't been easy, her attempts to gain her parents attention led her down a dark path and this has led her where she is now. In love with a addict who helps to feed her addiction to adrenaline and man does Spence help her embrace the dark side.

I wanted a bigger book because their story could have gone on for a few more chapters, I really want to know what happens with his sister, do Spence and Olivia make it, how do they look a few years from now. Will their therapist start seeing them alone to help them grow even more?? I loved watching the healing that took place, reading their pain and their triggers, watching as they learnt that they weren't alone and even seeing the struggle not to give into their addictions. It was eye opening and very good to read, especially their love scenes. Very steamy.

My favorite scene will always be the bathroom scene no, not that one, the third one, when Spence and Olivia get into it, and just those moments leading up to her getting there, were just so..wow.

I really enjoyed reading this one and can't wait until the next installment comes out.

Spencer Bradley ruins everything he touches. Addicted to gambling, he’s lied, cheated, and stolen to get what he wants. Now, in order to protect those he cares for, he’s keeping his distance.

(GoodReads 2015)

I have to start this post out by stating when I read the first two books in the Wayward Fighters series, I couldn't stand Spencer. I thought he was overly arrogant, rude, and honestly just a no-good jerk. I thought Liv was too forgiving and didn't try hard enough for herself to look for a better option... But that was before I read the third installment, which focuses on Spencer and Olivia's romance, as well as the demons they're both fighting individually and as a couple.

The story begins with Spencer in rehab for his gambling addiction, and the sessions we peek into between him and his therapist are raw and challenging. It was very interesting and refreshing to me to be able to see this side of Spencer as he is normally so cocky and self-assured. While in rehab, he is insecure, anxious, angry, and riddled with guilt.

Away from Spence, Liv misses him terribly. She is in love with him, always has been, and she knows she always will be, despite the cautions from her best friend, Ally. Liv is caught between anger and hurt at the man who took advantage of her kindness and the love and devotion she feels to the one whom she believes to be her other half. It's interesting to see Olivia's growth in this book as she learns more about herself and how to handle the challenges she's been facing.

This is an emotional roller coaster from start to finish, and it deals with a few inner demons I even struggled with, which was highly emotional for me as I was reading it. J. C. has a fantastic style of writing, and she certainly does not disappoint with every description and detail she wrote in Spencer and Olivia's story.

After reading this book, I can honestly say it's my favorite in the series. If I could give this book 6 stars, I would. Highly recommend!

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Undefeated is the third book in the Wayward Fighters Series and continues the story from the end of Tapout from Spencer and Olivia's POV's.

Spencer's trip to rehab has finally brought him to terms with the gambling addiction that ruined every good relationship he had. His goal now is to stay away from those he loves and prevent them from facing any future harm his addiction could bring. But when he has no where else to go after rehab ends, he find himself on Olivia's doorstep.

Olivia tried to give Spencer the support he needed to face his addictions. He made it pretty obvious he didn't want anything from her. So when Spencer shows up on Olivia's doorstep, she hopes it will bring them closer together. But Olivia has demons of her own and her insecurities with their relationship may cause her to self-destruct. Will their relationship give them the strength they need to survive their addictions or cause them both to spiral out of control?

In the previous books in the Wayward Fighters Series, it was hard to find anything redeeming in Spencer. He caused so much pain for Jami, Ally and Olivia. I wondered if I was going to like reading unDefeated with him as one of the narrators. I was pleasantly surprised to find that, while I didn't absolutely love him, I didn't hate him so much anymore. I may have actually started to like him by the end! Reading from Spencer's POV about his background and his struggles with his addiction made him more human and less of a monster. The way he tried to take care of Olivia in her lowest points, really helped redeem him. I could finally see what she saw in him. I loved how their relationship started bringing out the best in each of them. I also loved the way he dealt with his relationship with Jami .

Overall, unDefeated was a great story about love, friendship and the ongoing struggle with addiction. I think fans of the series will be extremely happy with Spencer and Olivia's story of redemption.

I love J.C. Valentine's writing and I was so excited that we got more of Spencer and Olivia!!! I love this couple!! While both Spence and Olivia have things from their past that they have to work through, adding a "disease" to the mix makes it hard for on both of them to fine a happy medium. Spence is getting out of rehab when we start this story and he has worked his way through a gambling problem. When he is released unexpectedly, he has no where to go since he has ruined all his previous relationships. Spencer ends up on Olivia's door step and begs her to let him stay with her until he can get back on his feet again. Although Olivia is hurt from being turned away at every visitation she went to at the rehab facility, she finds a way to forgive Spencer and lets him stay.

Olivia had been working two jobs trying to make ends meet. She is very willing to help Spencer but he also knows that he can't wear his welcome out. Their previous relationship seems so easy to slide back into but they both know that they have things they need to work through and talk about. When Olivia comes home on night to Spencer having a party, she is done with him and he pretty much knows it himself. He leaves the next day but there is no where else for him to go except back to his old habits and he wants to avoid that. Spencer makes a discovery that shocks him and ends up back on Olivia's doorstep once again. This time, Spencer ends up being Olivia's rescuer.

Olivia and Spencer both have their issue and once they come to accept it and start counseling together, things seem to look up for them. They learn how to talk with each other and things seem better.

I love how J.C. didn't depict their diseases as easy to get away from and that once you start getting help, that never really ends. There are always triggers that make you think about going back and doing what you have tried so hard to stay away from.

This story has a HEA for this couple and I am so glad. They both deserved it and worked really hard to make it work. Thanks J.C. for a great read and I look forward to your next books!!!

I was give an ARC of this book for my honest review.. I have read several books By Valentine now and she has never fallen short of amazing.

This book IS book #3 in the series, but can be read as a STANDALONE. I have purchased the first 2 books, and plan to start them very soon. I say that so that you know that my review is from someone who before page #1 knew little to nothing about this series and or book.

I really enjoyed this book. The author filled you in on all the highlights of what you needed to know about the characters, that I assumed was covered in the previous books. It was very brief yet informative, so I feel that even if you have been following the series it should not be redundant, but I knew what I needed too to follow the story line.

The characters are awesome. Both of the main characters are broken souls haunted by personal demons. They are both forced to sink or swim.. and instead of struggling alone they try to learn together. It's a true.. love concourses all story.

The author touches on some very sensitive subjects, but does it in an amazing way. Instead of glamorizing these issues, or shaming those with them, she shows the struggles that people who face these situations have to over come daily.

Besides the "LOVE/ ROMANCE" story that is the main plot of the story, there is also a tail of two very close friends who struggle to forgive and forget. She LITERALLY makes you wait to the VERY last second before she giving you any closure about the situation and the way it goes down is so heart warming.

They are a few characters and situations that I felt might hold a larger role in the book, but them sort of faded as the book went on, so I am eager to see if there will be future books and if so, if these characters will make a reappearance.

I was so blown away by this book and can't wait to read more!! This book is a must read!! Get yours today!!

DONNA'S REVIEW
5 STARS

"UNDEFEATED" AWESOME title for this book. I really liked this book and gave it rating of 5. At first, I was thinking Olivia and Spencer should stay far, far away from each other. Olivia and Spencer were both dealing with some major issues with themselves much less another person. Towards the end, Olivia and Spencer show that maybe they can have a healthy, intimate relationship with each other or maybe not. The author not only wrote a good story but you can tell she did her research regarding addictions that can destroy a person's life one way or another.

KIM'S REVIEW
4 STARS

I love this author!!
Spencer and Olivia have history. Alot bad, some good, but you can't help who your heart chooses to love.
Addiction is a really hard thing. And I can't even begin to imagine the amount of research this author had to do in order to write this book.
Spencer has a huge problem with gambling. He gets himself into rehab, but doesn't really put in the work to make himself better. He's just marking off the days until he gets out.
Once he hits the streets as a free man, his situation gets real. Because of his problem; he's burned all his bridges. Even the one with Olivia.
As I read this book, I thought the only thing Olivia had a problem with was her feelings for Spencer. After all, how many times was she going to give him the green light to reject her?
But somethings aren't always what they seem and after she allows Spencer back into her life. The serious problem-addiction that Olivia has is brought to light.
I began to think that this book was going to be a train wreck of heartbreak as Spencer and Olivia began to feed each others need for their addictions.
But then Spencer grew up and became a man right before my very eyes. I almost cheered out loud.
Undefeated is a story of two broken souls who try to become whole as individuals, but find strength enough in each other to really reach for forever.

I received this book for an honest review.
Liv loves Spencer and no matter how hard he tries to push her away she can't let go convinced he needs her to get better. Spencer loves Liv but after destroying those around him and his own life he doesn't think he deserves her but though he tries to push her away he can't stay away either. Both have demons they need to face can they do it together or are they just going to bring each other down?
I find myself struggling to write this review. I've read and reviewed a few books by this author at this point and usually the review just about writes itself as her books always pull me and make me not want to put them down. This book however didn't do that for me but I think part of that might be my fault, though I knew it was part of a series since it was about different characters I assumed it could be read as a standalone but without reading the first two books I feel like I started the story midway into it. The author summarized what had happened in the past but a summary doesn't invoke the emotions in reading the full scene. That being said I adored Spencer and found myself rooting for him to succeed even though part of me wanted to despise him I've always liked the underdog. Liv was strong and fierce from having her own battles in life allowing her to relate to Spencer sometimes seeing the strength in others is what helps you find your own and I think that's what Liv did for him. The chemistry between them down to his possessiveness was very real I just wish I could have connected more emotionally to their past. For me this book should be read after reading the first two to complete the story and since the first book is currently free it's the perfect time to start the series!

Olivia wouldn't give up on Spencer when everyone else did. She kept trying and trying because she knew in her heart that the Spencer she knew and fell in love with was somewhere deep down in himself and one day she would hope he would come out and show everyone else. But when he wont see her week after week when she would show up at the treatment facility she was loosing hope. But when he shows up at her door after being released she thought she saw hope but after 2 days of him being at her home you know he screwed up.....again.....

Alley knew it was only a matter of time that Spencer screwed up again that is why she didn't want Jami to see him when he showed up at the gym. But little did everyone know Spencer was trying .... He needed to apologize for his wrongs and make it right, he needed to tell his brother how he felt so he could continue with his treatment.

But little did Spencer know he would end up in treatment with Liv....

Will Spencer realize that Olivia is what he has always been looking for and. Issuing in his life or will he continued to screw up and push her away or will Olivia realize that she needed Spencer to cope with her anxiety ?? Can these two torn people heal to make one healthy couple or will they get tired of trying to make it work ??

What a twist to two amazing characters that have more heart than hurt in there hearts !! Olivia and Spencer have a lot of things in common when they had no idea they were so much alike .... Loved there story and so glad to see Ally and Jami !! Fantastic !!

Two lost souls trying to find their way. Hand in hand they try to get thru another day. Can’t live without each other, what is one to do? Can two people that both have additive personalities help each other along the way? Will their relationship survive?

Olivia is so in love with Spencer. She tries to stand with him thru thick and thin, even though her friends do not understand why. Olivia appears to be this healthy sweet person who does not wrong. No one except for Spencer had seen the true Liv. Liv is damaged, suffering from a secret addition of her own.

Spencer knows he should let Liv go. He has gambling addiction and he has destroyed everyone around him, even causing his best friend his lively hood. Looking around Spencer sees he has lost everything. He has no money, no job, no family, and no friends. The only one that has stood beside him is the woman he loves, Liv.

Thru this book you will find two destructive souls, sacrifice, hope, and love. No matter how much hurt Spencer causes Liv, she stands beside him. When Liv finds herself self destructing she looks to see Spencer his not abandoning her. Both have gone and go thru so much. While reading this you keep asking yourself how the story will end. How can this relationship that has so much going against it survive? Will Spencer ever make mends with this best friend? Will Liv’s best friend ever except Spencer and give him a chance. This was a very intense story and there were parts that really broke my heart, but I love the route that author took in this book. I highly recommend this book.

I don’t know how I made it to the end. This book was so emotional!

UnDefeated is the 3rd book in the Wayward Fighters series. I haven’t read the first 2, but don’t let that hold you back from diving into this book. It’s a great standalone too. Knockout, the first book in this series, is available on Kindle for free! Grab it today!

Olivia, has been battling her life threatening addiction to cut herself. Spencer, straight out of rehab for his gambling addiction, jumps back into Olivia’s life. He has no-one else to turn to and Olivia just wants Spencer back in her life, her own health be damned.

They have to work out how to deal with their own addictions and how to communicate with eachother so they don’t go on a backward spiral. It’s not smooth sailing which makes for a quick read.

I like Liv’s character. She works 2 jobs to get by, hairdressing & bar tending. She’s got her weaknesses and strengths, but she takes a risk to keep Spencer in her life, any way she can get.

I feel like J.C. Valentine really researched these addictions. I’ve not dealt with these struggles in my life but the characters and story lines are realistic.

I definitely need to get my hands on the first two books of this series to know where Liv & Spencer’s story begins. I’m sure knowing the full background, this could become a 5 star rating.

I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review. As always J C Valentine's books are captivating and enthralling. Undefeated is no different, but this book is not your standard, hearts and flowers happy ever after love story. It tackles very real dark and deep issues that affect many people around the world. Spencer is in rehab to tackle his demons. He has turned all of his friends against him and has nothing. The only person he knows still cares is Olivia, but he needs to keep her at arms length so that he doesn't hurt her anymore than he already has.
Even though Spencer has broken Olivia's heart once she cannot leave him alone, she visits him in rehab only to be turned away repeatedly. But Olivia is shocked when Spencer turns up on her doorstep when he is released. At first she is wary but soon both start to have the old feelings return. But both are battling their feelings for each other and both battling their own demons. Together they support each other in their ups and downs but can they both make it through to the other side and still be together. J C Valentine has written an awesome book that deals with sensitive issues, she has covered the topics of addiction, gambling, self harming and self destruction really well, all entwined in a supportive and loving relationship. This is a captivating read that hooks you from the very start, as mentioned it is not your typical love story, it is real, gritty, cutting, all consuming story of love and hardship.

Book 3 in the Wayward Fighting Series

Spencer a gambling addict would do anything for his next fix, including lie, cheat, beg borrow and steal, whatever it took to feed his addiction, that addiction has now cost him dearly his lost everything, including his best friend who was more like a brother.

Olivia, has her own demons, self harming is her release, she loves Spencer fiercely, and will help him anyway she can, even when he throws it back in her face, time and time again.

I loved and hated Spencer in this book, he really treated Olivia poorly in the beginning but in his own weird way was protecting her at the same time, and Olivia loved him so much she just kept on trying to show him she had his back and would do anything to help him get his life back on track

A undeniable connection between these two characters.

True to life situations involved in this story and we're written brilliantly.

This was a very sensitive and heartfelt story I was gripped by these two characters and their troubled pasts a very emotional and truly captivating read one that was constantly on my mind for days after I finished reading it.

I recommend you read books 1 & 2 in this series, they to are an Amazing read!

I will definitely be re reading this book!

I really didn't know what I was getting into when I started reading this book. Yes I knew Spencer had a gambling addiction and when his problem ultimately hurt his best friend, he knew he needed to seek help. Into the rehab centre he went and every week without fail, Olivia goes to visit him but she ends up leaving the rehab centre sad as he had refused to see her.

I was wondering initially, why is Olivia so fixated on Spencer especially when he had caused her brother to be in such a state. Why is she so forgiving and if her soul is really that pure. However, as the story progressed, I was showed the other side of Olivia that just broke my heart. I'd never have thought she was this broken behind that facade. And Spencer is the only one who can give her hope, courage and strength to move on and like wise for Spencer. The two of them came with baggages so deep that only they could understand each other and you can't help but feel sympathetic and cheer them on as they continue their lives trying to do better.

This story is really intense but it offers glimpses of hope, strength and courage; to remain undefeated by the trials in life.

This is my first book by the author and while this is the 3rd book in this series, it can be read as a standalone.

I was gifted an advance copy of this book by Indiesage PR in exchange for a honest review.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. In this book we get to see what happens with Spencer and Olivia. In Tapout we see that Spencer's gambling cost Jami his fighting career. This book can be read as a stand alone but you should read the first two book first just to have an understanding of the back story.

Spencer knows what he has done and isn't sure that Jami will ever to forgive him but knows that if he doesn't change his ways there will be no way to get that friendship back. So he does the only thing he can think of and that is check himself into rehab. During this time he gets a chance to reflect on what he has done to the people in his life not only Jami but to Oliva as well. He knows that he might not have a chance with either of them but he would like on. He also while in rehab had to deal with the fact that he doesn't believe that he is good enough for Olivia.

While Spencer is in rehab Olivia has some hard choices to make as well. Every week she goes to see him every week he doesn't show. So when he gets out and needs a place to stay she has to decide is it worth the heartache to be a good person.

These two people had to decide are they enough for one another or will their addictions and their past rule them. This is an amazing book I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
