How to Fall for the Secret Billionaire: A Small Town Opposites Attract Sweet Romance

Rate this book
I know better than to fall for a charming stranger—especially one who’s lying about who he is.

The Key & Kettle Inn is my comfort zone. My chaos. My responsibility. And the perfect excuse to ignore the burnout I swear I’m fine with.

Then Cal Reid checks in with soft eyes, rolled sleeves, and a smile that makes my pulse forget how to behave.

I should’ve kept things professional. I should’ve questioned why a man like him appeared out of nowhere. And I definitely shouldn’t have let him stay under my skin.

Because Cal isn’t just Cal.

He’s a billionaire in hiding, running from a life he refuses to talk about and a past that’s still chasing him. He tells half-truths, keeps careful distance, and somehow still steps closer every time I try to push him away—like falling for me is the one thing he can’t control.

But secrets always break something...

Small town, billionaire/inn keeper, secret identity, duel POV✨

I really wanted to rate this book higher, I seriously couldn’t put it down. It just seemed to have next to no real connection when it came to the main characters. It was a few minutes here and there, but no real moments. Then next thing I knew, they were in love?

That being said, I did enjoy the book. I loved Margot’s family and the small town dynamic. Waffles was great and the inn sounds adorable. The guests were super cute too. I loved the Cal with her family and how he fit right into the inn itself. I liked how he was involving himself in daily tasks and took to everyone who was there. I would have liked to see more of him in business mode though. For that being who he really was, it seemed to be skipped over. He really stood out differently in the scenes he was billionaire Cal and I think that could have been used to help Margot. Could have helped give more of an insight on who he really was all around without the secret getting out too soon. I think the parts when he was in business mode were very well written too. It was a very noticeable change and was portrayed in a way I think a lot of authors aim for and miss. I was very impressed with that.

As for the secret, I didn’t really like the reaction to that on Margot’s part. She knew he was keeping something from her and he told her he would tell her as he felt more comfortable in their relationship. It’s even said later she probably wouldn’t have given him the time of day had she known who he really was because of their overall differences, which is exactly what he was trying to avoid. It also wasn’t really much of a secret since, again, she knew he wasn’t telling her something since he literally told her he wasn’t…So I feel like she was a little much when it came to that. After all, it was just his name. I did like how they came back together though, and Cal’s gestures.

It was still a cute, fun, fall read!

Cute story with characters you will love to read about. The h is running the family bed and breakfast now because her aunt needs a rest due to medical issues. The H is a self made billionaire who started and grew a very successful company and then sold it for billions of dollars. He still runs the company but is getting burned out. When he sees a promo about a bed and breakfast inn he decides on and schedules a 3 week stay. When he arrives he is 4 days late, and the h who is at the desk asks if he called to let them know of his late arrival and he says no. She gives and he accepts her firm but strong lecture on the fairness of holding a room that others are wanting. In the end she takes him to his room because her helper forgot to put it out for someone else to take. He is pleased with his simple room. When he gives his name he gives a fake last name to hide his true identity. Thus he begins his stay, and really enjoys his time at the inn. Although they had a rough beginning the H and h become friends, he is there to help her and even helps her father with repairs that need to be done. The whole family accepts him even being inviting him to their home for lunch. When the 3 weeks are up he schedules another 3 weeks. At this point he takes the h out on a formal date. As they are getting into his car a reporter runs into them and recognizes who he is. The h is very upset that he lied about his name and even when he explains why he did it she’s not accepting. He leaves and only after he’s gone she realizes that she has feelings for him and is able to understand why he did what he did. At home the H decides to return and with the help of her family he does. They reconcile and get their HEA. Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. Enjoy!

Is a sweet small town, opposites attract, close proximity, secret identity, romance with no cliffhanger.
Some of the lines I really like --- “I vote we eat at least one before taking them out. For quality control.” --- Thinking doesn’t count unless it leads to doing. --- “Well, if the porch falls apart under your feet tomorrow, just pretend you never saw me.” --- “Don’t worry, darling. I’ll sleep just fine… unlike someone else tonight.” --- “It’s hard. Feeling like you’re constantly one broken pipe away from losing everything.” --- “I’ll go to war for this flavor every night," --- “Sometimes, we end up exactly where we’re meant to be by accident.” --- "I know it’s not been easy, stepping into all this. But you’ve done it with grace. And I see you.” --- “The thing about truth is—it always finds a way. Whether we’re ready for it or not.” --- "love doesn’t care what you’re cut out for. It cares what you’re willing to grow into.” ---

What's Aunt Edie up to? What's Sam up to? What's Mia up to? Who's the surprise guest? These and other questions will all be answered.
I loved Margot and Cal's story and I'm sure you will too. I've loved everyone of her books that I've read and I can't wait to read her next book.

I give this romance 3.5 stars. I like the premise. I like all the characters except for Margot. I had difficulty rallying around her because she has double standards. Margot admits she knows Cal is keeping secrets and won't let her in completely while she says she hasn't let Cal all the way in either.

Cal is so sweet and genuine in his affection for Margot that it couldn't be fabricated. The way he just pitches in around the inn and befriends Margot's family and the guests isn't manipulation. It is kindness and being at the inn, around Margot and being helpful fills the holes he recognizes in his life. Cal's story is sweet and sad, so when Margot finds out his secrets, she overreacts.

Eventually, there is a happy ending and everyone including Margot is happy.

This is my 4th and favourite book by Lily Jacobson so far. How to Fall for the Secret Billionaire is a sweet, easy-going, kisses only, slow burn romance without cursing and explicit content. I loved everything. This book would make a great movie. It was easy to imagine every scene. The story flowed smoothly, and I enjoyed the cozy, heartwarming vibes.

I loved the quiet interactions between Margot and Cal that showed their growing connection. There was the small-town sense of togetherness with Margot's loving family, their friends, and guests of the inn. The supporting characters made this story richer. Then there were emotional, chaotic, and cute moments, comfy tea times, and a beautiful ending that made this a pleasant reading experience.

I'm glad that I had the opportunity to read an ARC. I hope that there are future books set in the town, especially involving Margot's sisters.

Wow! This book was soooooo good. Margot and Cal's story had me completely hooked from page one. I related, laughed, sat in warm contemplation, as if there at their peaceful inn, and I cried! This book had all the emotions of something that felt so real, as if I was there experiencing it. I love when books hollow you out and fill you back up again. This book did that and more. I loved it so much and will be reading it again soon!!!

Cute small town romance. Cal is burnt out and hiding his identity at Margot’s inn. Cal is immediately attracted to Margot, but she tries to maintain a professional attitude towards him since he is a paying guest. I adore Kettle Hour and all the interactions between the guests and townspeople. Very enjoyable reading.
I received this book from the author and this is my voluntary, honest review.

Sweet small town romance

I liked Margot and Cal. Waffles must be based on a real dog. I liked the slow build of the relationship. I can see the start of a series. I will read more by this author.

Gotta Love It!

Margo runs the family inn. Cal is there to hide out and find peace. But they're both not ready to admit to each other how they really feel. Her wonderful family and an opinionated dog add to the magic of this tale. Highly recommended.
