My name is Jake Provance and I’ve really enjoyed a wonderful life with God.
I’m 27 and live in Tulsa Oklahoma where I’m Married to a beautiful, godly, woman named Leah. She makes life exciting in the most mundane of settings. I graduated from Domata Bible school in Tulsa Oklahoma and feel called to love on people, and help connect people to God, through writing and pastoral ministry.
I love reading, and have a passion for loving on people through the printed page. I have written five books and have plans to write several more. My first book "Keep Calm and Trust God" has sold more than 700,000 copies, and I thank God every day for allowing me to reach so many people through the ministry of writing.
I wanted to love this book [I love the title] but I am afraid even 2 stars is pushing it. It had some helpful material but you have to walk a slippery slope to get to those parts. Quotes are given seemingly without regard to whether the person was a believer, an unbeliever, or a member of a cult or false religion. Not everything that calls itself "Christian" actually is. There are no warnings on or about the quotes they are just given to prove the point of that section- thus effectually "recommending" the person who made the quote. A baby Christian, an unbeliever, or any person who is not well-read could easily be led astray. Some of these quotes could lead someone to thinking salvation is attained by works Sometimes the Bible is quoted but no references are given so a person might just think it was the authors' opinion. The Bible versions quoted are also not the best in the world and sometimes are so far from the actual Scripture as to be almost unrecognizable. There is also the touchy-feeling new age vibe that appears throughout the book, an example of which is on page 14:
"We fight fear with faith. And we activate our faith with our words."
Really? We activate our faith with OUR WORDS? What saith the Scripture? Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Faith comes by hearing not speaking. And not our words but the WORD OF GOD.
As I said, even 2 stars is pushing it. 1.25 might be better- just a smidgen over "did not like it".
Really Short Prayer book but really helps me ground myself in times of anxiety and a great message about when things get uncertain turn to God. I enjoyed relating back to everyday and real life scenarios.

This book helps one to realize that stress and stressors can be a part or everyday life to just relax and leave everything in the hands of GOD. ITS a very helpful book to read and pocket size , easy to carry around and comes quite in handy ! I enjoyed it much!
Very quick read! More of a "handbook" for dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, etc that we encounter each day. Each chapter has a prayer for asking God to be with you while you are going through it.
I needed this encouraging book because I suffer from anxiety and depression and NEED people to consistently pray for my daily peace of mind about my anxieties!
I am not one to give low reviews but this one was tough for me. I like how short and pithy it is. However, with many of the topics it is just too pithy. It feels like a gross oversimplification of big topics like anxiety, depression, and stress. Yes, we to “just trust God” but the authors make it seem like no big deal. Just choose it. And it’s more than that. Like the scripture and other quotes just left me feeling like it was just too simplistic.
This book ignores the science behind anxiety and depression and claims that both are controlled by choice. With some grammatical and punctuation errors, this book could have used some editing. I can’t ignore that this book made me feel calmer after reading it, however.
For the last trimester I read a book called, Keep Calm and Trust God, by Jake Provance and Keith Provance. This book was super short, around 100 pages, so it was super easy to read. I absolutely loved this devotional. Since I read a book for the second trimester that strengthened my relationship with God, I decided to choose another one similar to the book I previously read, Rediscovering Jesus; and I am really glad I did. Going into reading this book, I knew I was going to like it because I like books about God and life and how I am able to see him through everyday life. What I liked about this book was that each chapter focused on the adversities of life, and how we can get through them by trusting in God and keeping calm, aka the title of the book, Keep Calm and Trust God! Each chapter also had a short little prayer to say with the topic you decided to read about, so that was cool! The best part was, you did not have to read book in order of chapters; I was able to skip around and choose a chapter that resembled my life the most at the moment. When I chose this book, I was super stressed out with a lot of schoolwork and my relationship with God was not the best. Since reading this book, I feel like I am a completely different person, because I have learned to not stress about the little things. The worst part about this book was that it was too short! Wish there was more than 100 pages so I could read it more! In the end, I would definitely recommend this book, it was almost like a little bible, it gave daily reminders to keep your head high and your faith strong!
