Aces High MC - Dakotas #3

The Restart and the Remedy

Myra
I was born lucky.
I was born into a family of bikers that were closer than most normal families. My parents’ best friends had a boy two years before I was born. He became my best friend, my lover, and what I thought was my soul mate.
Then I found out I wasn’t lucky.
My entire family had been in on his lies.
They backed him.
They broke me.

Once I escaped that life, I found myself in the center of a different kind of motorcycle club. This one appeared to actually function as a family, but I knew all about how appearances could be deceiving so when a beautiful man with a slightly battered soul offered a hand out to me, I wasn’t sure where accepting it would take me.

Rabbit
I stumbled into her life, half naked on the outside and half dead on the inside.
I made her regret being nice to me.
Then, I realized she wasn’t like the woman who had left me broken, and I vowed to make everything up to her. Then, I set out to convince her that I was just what she needed.

Another TBR cleanup that wasn’t much fun to finish. This author can be entertaining when I’m in the mood for mindless soapy book trash, but this one missed any drama-llama to make it enjoyable.

The book opens with Myra learning her fiancé has been cheating on her and that her family knew, so she leaves them all in the dust, pregnant. Meanwhile Rabbit is licking his wounds from being dumped by Chastity, his bro’s twin.

I had a few issues.

❌ The plot felt disconnected. I read the last book, and Chasity was barely around. I don’t remember any talk about them being serious. There’re also random characters and plot holes like Phoenix and the ending which left things up in the air with the Chasity situation. (Like how was the coordinates never explored? Or. Why was the package left at the fire station? Why would she just drop her bargaining chip? Or. Who the hell is the Harbinger?)

❌ I’m not a fan of the h being pregnant with an OM’s kid. It skeeves me out a bit. It also made the coupling take forever as they spent the majority of the book in the friend zone.

❌ There was nothing going on making for a boring read. There was no club business, no OW or OM drama, no family drama, and very little smut.

❌ Rabbit was supposed to be funny, but it came of as beta IMHO.

Bottom Line- This author is hit or miss for me. I liked the last book better because it had a crazy wannabe OW. Her baby daddy was never around, and Chasity was hardly around and caused no drama for the couple.

Silly Rabbit

Can't believe the way these two meet you just have to laugh. Myra finds out the hard way her family is loyal to everyone else except her. So she heads to Dakota to her friend Cherry. Rabbit gets burned by Cherry's twin Chasity. Unfortunately he hears something and takes it wrong, this is where I could've slapped him silly. He was so rude to Myra.

Things work out though Myra is so nice even though what she has been through, and Rabbit his sense of humor just makes her laugh. They make a good pair. Do Tango and Whiskey ever find a woman?

I don’t know maybe it’s me and not the author but I don’t really like her writing style.
This one is not that bad and even funny and hilarious and I found myself smiling more than once, the interaction between the characters is really a cute banter.
It’s a low angst story and has some kind of bizarre undertone in it that made me feel somehow weird.
It’s a MC book, the heroine is betrayed by her fiancé who thinks he’s got another woman pregnant and she finds out all her family knew about it and never told her. So she slays them, verbally and then leaves for another MC where a friend of hers lives. She’s also pregnant with the cheating fiancé.
She meets the hero there, who’s been dumped by the heroine’s friend’s identical evil twin. Yes, just like that.
So, in the beginning the hero thinks the heroine is exactly like his evil ex and treats her quite shitty. Soon he finds out the truth and apologizes. He’s not actually a bad guy, he’s quite cute and nice, but I never could see him more than a merry clown and I wasn’t able to take him seriously since his road name is well, rabbit.
Jesus, are you serious?
The two things that came to my mind are roger rabbit and rabbit the dildo. I know I have a dirty mind but how can you take seriously a guy calling him rabbit? Not lion, fox, tiger or wolf, not even cat. Rabbit. A prey.
Honestly. I just can’t.
Sadly the writer couldn’t make him completely ok, since the heroine saw him screwing a club hoe a couple of days after they’ve met. Ok he was completely drunk and they’ve just met, but this part could have been avoided and it’s would have been perfect.
Then in the end there was an unnecessary drama with the evil twin that I think was there only to fill some more pages.
Meh. I don’t think I will re read it, but it wasn’t completely bad.

This story was definitely not one I expected for Rabbit. He’s an interesting, quirky guy- to say the least... and he picked the wrong chick to fall for. Let’s also not forget his inappropriate, weird, or gross? comments at times. The one at the end I could have done without. Even though I didn’t grasp onto the “chemistry” between him and Myra- I will say that eventually I could see, and believe, his caring, loving, and at times sweet ways with her.

But let’s talk about a few other things that just didn’t sit right with me :
1. What the hell was going on with Phoenix and what he does for Myra throughout the book? Or who the hell is the harbringer? I need a Phoenix book for the full story of him and his MC.

2. The cover model! No. Just no. He does not match the physical description in the book... where’s his long blonde hair!? The guy on the cover ruined part of the story for me. I couldn’t marry the cover man to the character’s looks.... maybe just to the personality.

3. Why did Myra need to hide from her family and become like a ghost to them? What did they do that was worse then letting her be with a cheater and never saying as much.

4. We didn’t get to see Spinner or Cherry fully deal with what happened to him. My heart broke for him and I didn’t think he got justice or peace of mind.

5. Why didn’t we see or hear from many of the usual suspects of the MC. It was like the club was Spinner and Rabbits but sprinkle in random club members.

6. The story was odd- which fits Rabbit. I don’t have any other thoughts about this.

Tears, bitchiness, skankiness, togetherness and happiness.

Another great addition to Christine's world of The Aces High MC. This one being from the Dakota's chapter. Myra has her eyes opened to her soulmate and her own family in the most heartbreaking way imaginable. Finding out secrets that they not only kept from her, but actively encouraged all those who knew, to keep it from her too! And oh does she let them know her feelings on it! But she picks herself up, moves away and starts fresh with her best friend. How she first meets Rabbit is brilliant and I laughed loudly, then felt daft because I was on my own!! A few more tears followed through the book but a lot more laughs. I love every book that comes through every series of Christine's and this one didn't let me down either.

Read this cover to cover

You know when you meet a character in a book that you just can't wait to claim as your book boyfriend and want his book?
This is Rabbits!
Brother, friend & all round nice guy-- who wanted something so badly, he let a shitty shit of a woman get her claws into him and stuff him round. At the beginning of this book... she was waving merrily while driving off with another man.
You've met Chastity before too, if you've followed this series. So you know, things won't be smooth sailing.

You also meet Myra, friend to Chastitys TWIN sister and MC Princess from another MC. Life has dealt her a shitty hand too, blindsiding her with the lack of loyalty and a family who put their own needs before her.

Now you may say, well that's the way MCs roll...but each club has their own values and Myra gets to see how this one does and becomes part of their chapter.

As any good story goes Rabbit & Myra don't start off great but through these words, the chemistry and camaraderie between these two give us a great story if two patch-work hearts coming together to form a life inclusive.

There are a few things in this book that may get your head thinking, surely not! Christine addresses this at the back of the book, so I do strongly urge you to read cover to cover.
I have no doubt that there is more to tell for this chapter and a few side characters and I for one can't wait to read them!

(Iceman, Phoenix & Harbinger
... I hope to read you soon!)

Myra was an MC princess and she thought she had it all, her man, family, and a baby on the way. That is until it shattered and she found out those she trusted the most didn't deserve her trust. Starting over, she headed to a new city and state and found herself befriending the Aces High MC. What she didn't plan if to catch the ire of Rabbit after rescuing him half naked and freezing.

Rabbit thinks Myra is just like his ex. He thought she was the one only to be fooled. Fool him once and twice is just too much to handle. Once he realizes he is wrong though, he befriends Myra and goes about proving to her why she should give him a chance.

I enjoyed this one but thought Rabbit was a bit different than in other books. He is the jokester, the anomaly and he still is but he was a bit of a hot mess in this one. Had a twist I did not see coming at all. Definitely need to find Phoenix's book.

This started out fun and could have been much better. Myra begins the story finding out that her childhood sweetheart, who has just gotten her pregnant, cheated on her with someone else (bareback), had cheated on her in the past, and her family/his MC not only knew about all of it, but they covered up for it. I am all about some OTT family drama, so I was here for it. Myra dumps the shitty boyfriend, the shitty family, and the shitty MC, and takes her pregnant self to stay with some friends. She immediately meets Rabbit, a good-time boy who has a similar shitty ex. They have a rough start, but it turns from enemies to friends to lovers over the course of the book. The romance was low drama, but that was fine with me because I figured Myra's ex and family would provide that.

Only... nope. Once Myra leaves, that's pretty much all we hear from them. Eventually we find out her ex is dead, and we don't really know why. Then Rabbit's ex comes back into the picture to stir up drama, only the same person who killed Myra's ex wants to kill Rabbit's shitty ex... and again, we don't know why. We never know why. This story felt like setup for at least one other completely different story. Then I looked to see if there was going to be any fill-in-the-blanks in a story for Phoenix, the killer who just benevolently goes around murdering the evil exes -- apparently he doesn't have a book. So all this just happened Because The Plot Says So. We won't ever know why Phoenix was so mad at Myra's ex, other than he'd slept with Phoenix's girlfriend (and I assume he had a better reason than that for flipping his switch and murdering the guy), or why Phoenix got to murder Rabbit's Reprehensible Raging Rohypnol Rapist ex-girlfriend, but the guy she'd actually raped didn't. Will we ever find out where this leaves Rabbit's brother and sister-in-law? Dunno! Apparently they don't have a book either. Since this book was published in 2020, I have to assume it isn't happening at this point.

I did enjoy the banter between Rabbit and Myra, and once Rabbit got over his dumb first impressions of Myra, he was really likeable. I just wished the book hadn't backed off when it came to the potential family drama and then didn't even give me another character's book to tell me why all of it went down that way. I don't even love books that operate that way -- give me this plot in this book, but don't make me read a whole series of other characters that I may or may not be into just to find out the overarching plot -- but I want the choice if there are threads hanging loose.

Honestly, as much as this book left me feeling like Myra and Rabbit didn't even really get their own story, just the set up for other stories that never happened, it would have been two stars. And then dropping Myra's family drama in favor of... whatever the hell it was setting up was so dissatisfying, it made me ragey. It was the banter and silliness of Myra and Rabbit that saved this one for me and knocked it up to 3 stars, so I feel that is a pretty generous rating for this one. This one badly needs to be reworked so these two get their own story rather than just being set up as filler for stories the author seems to have abandoned.

This book had me laughing and embracing my pillow through their difficult times. I loved so many things that Rabbit said about manners and being a man while Myra stood up for herself, even against those she shouldn't have had to. The brotherhood in this MC warmed my heart and tied into the sisterhood that is building within it. Great book!

Amazing and brilliant storytelling

Christine Michelle has become one of my favorite writers . This woman knows how to write men that are horrible and that we love to hate . She did that with this story but she also wrote the character of Rabbit that I absolutely fell in love with ! Rabbit is everyone’s funny bunny and it shows . The humor that he brings to this book was invaluable. Yes my heart hurt at times for the things that Myra and Rabbit as well as other characters went through but I could not put this book down . I laughed and cried and loved every second of it . Myra is one of my favorite heroines that I’ve ever read . She doesn’t whine or complain and she knows the way of the MC because she grew up in one. She excepts it and doesn’t try to change Rabbit or his friends. This entire MC is lovable and I can’t wait to read more about the characters !

Love it!

If you love loyal, fun loving Alpha males then you can’t go past Rabbit. If you like strong ladies who are loyal, have been through a lot but come out the other side strong and can see the fun in life, then you have Myra. Their story is one of overcoming misunderstandings, past hurts and coming out the other side. I mean who doesn’t love to see a naked man walking down the road in just his cut... Read this book and fall in love with Rabbit. I know I did.

I enjoyed this book!

This was a really good book and I liked the fact that Rabbit manned up after realizing his mistakes and doing something to right that wrong. Myra is really good with Rabbit after her family betrayed her for a jerk. Myra got the family she deserves after her crappy bio fam did her wrong. There are some serious surprises in this book and I sure wasn't expecting what happened to happen.

Okay I read this series out of order. I read this book first and on the recommendation that it was similar to this same author’s other book redemption weather. While it was similar in that the betrayal was in the beginning, for the same reasons (cheating), and the whole rest of the book was the fallout and the recovery and moving on of the FMC to an HEA, it was not as deep as the above mentioned book. That isn’t a bad thing. This was ultimately my favorite book of this series and had I started with the first one, I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed this book as much as I did. This book was funny, had likable characters, had an easy plot. I just loved everything about it and will most likely reread this book often.

That being said, there is a lack of continuity between the books of all the aces high books, and mildly in some parts of this individual story. In this story those mixed details aren’t very distracting, they are simply there, but the series as a whole needs some editing. Also, so much is not addressed in the plot line itself. Like the ex was off’d by his own club brother phoenix but it’s never explained why. Phoenix is left as a boogeyman of sorts who either wants(ed) the FMC or he is protecting her because she may or may not be carrying his nephew. Again, it really was just unclear everything that surrounded the ex’s club, motivations, demise, and whether or not he was a bad guy or just stupid.

Either way, I LOVED rabbit/MMC! He was such a great character, especially after reading about him in the first two books after reading this one. I loved that this book has so much of his POV. I really wish this book was longer honestly.

The ex’s cheating reveal in the beginning of this book was soooo good that I wish there had been more of it!! It was exactly what I wanted to read and I will be rereading it again soon enough. I hope this author has more coming because I like this series and this branch of the club. Honestly I HATE the Charleston series so much that I can’t get past the first book! This author needs to let that side series go and focus on this one South Dakota’s or the West Virginia cedar falls branches instead! Redemption weather was the WV Cedar Falls branch and I was thrilled when the author answered my questions on whether there would be books for all the characters I fell in love with there. She stated that she has like thirty books in total coming for all of the branches combined, so I’m eager to see how many more will come from this South Dakota group.

I did search for rabbit’s brother spinner’s book because his relationship was referenced so much in this book that I thought there was one, but I couldn’t find anything. So maybe it will come later. His relationship was tested a lot it would seem even in this story. I would hate for him to lose cherry because of it.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to more by this author in this series. Enjoy.

Summary 🗣

Myra's an MC Princess who finds out that everyone in her world has allowed her Old Man to cheat on her the entire time of their relationship. The betrayal goes way deeper and she decides to leave and this is where our story begins.....

My Thoughts 💭

I have read this entire series and I was super excited to know that Rabbit got his HEA! I really loved Myra for Rabbit, they are both funny and always trying to brighten everyone's day.

Considering Rabbit's ex and who she was, it's good that Myra had a history with her and she knew just who she was dealing with. Myra also knew the MC world which I think helped and even though there was some BRAT drama she still understood it and actually fought for the BRATs to have better rules and I loved that for her!

I feel like parts of this book were rushed but I still loved the story overall and Christine Michelle knows how to write an angsty romance.

We all waited so patiently for this book.. and thank god! What a ride! With the loveable larrikin we all know and love named Rabbit, he got his HEA!! And it wasn't with that evil witch who's name is TOTALLY mismatched to her personality!

With most things written by this amazing lady, we are taken in. We are left in awe of the back bone these women have in the face of such strong alpha men in their lives. It truly gives us inspiration to be a stronger woman. It also highlights a major taboo, that being Contraception tampering and coerced conception. Rape happens to both men and women, and its not always a forced violent struggle, sometimes its a coercion to 'reward' the person who is forcing the point, as seen in their eyes. Its never pleasant and can leave you feeling degraded, depressed and so many others. So thank you Christine, for highlighting the fact that Rape truly does not have a Gender.

Now that we have seen Rabbits Happy story, we know a lot more about other characters, given insights to the workings of the South Dakota's club..and we can wait with baited breathe for the next book to come out of this Chapter of Aces High MC.
And can we PLEASE get a visual of Rabbit in that Banana Hammock?? Because dayaamm!

The acknowledgements page…

This book gets five stars for the acknowledgments page alone. I’m very sure that the vast majority of readers have not actually considered the subject of male r@pe. The statistics alone should help to raise awareness of this situation and how damaging it can be to the victims, including their families.

This book is really good. It has the usual grammar and spelling errors that I’ve learned to expect from this author. That always lowers the rating when an author can’t be bothered to give their readers a polished product. In reality this is a 3.5 star. The plot is good, the characters are interesting, but the structure lets you down. And since I actually paid for the books in this series, I expected their quality to be better than it is. This author needs beta readers that can actually fix things.

Ok, enough… I did like this one. It was better than average, but like I said, the content of the acknowledgments pages elevated this one.

I love Christine Michelle's MC books. The lady has talent when it comes to writing troubled characters that are in need of love or punching in the face. Take your pick! There is just something about Rabbit that is easy to love. You just can't help but love him from the previous books. I was hoping Christine would match him with a proper heroine and sure enough---Myra was it! What a fantastic couple, but boy there was drama! What's an MC book without a little drama? Okay, a lot of drama! I'm wondering if there will be other books that will spinoff from this one. I would love to know more about Phoenix. Who is Phoenix? You have to read the book!! I re-read this book today and will be reading it again in the future. I can't wait to see where the rest of this chapter goes in the future! I can't wait to read more!

4.5 ⭐️

I loved this installment in the Aces High Dakota chapter. Myra was such a strong and emotionally intelligent character. She was unmoved in her convictions. Her backbone was empowering and I loved how she called people on their hypocrisy by having them see things from the warring perspective. While her and Rabbit’s story started out rough, I think they formed a strong foundation of communication because of it. There was so much drama and angst that are hard to beat.

I only wish we got more of what went down with Phoenix and the Raiders chapter, as well as Chasity’s
roll in it. Hopefully, Christine will give us some answers if there is another book in this series.

Ps Doc and Iceman definitely need their stories told!

There are some very dark and heavy topics
covered in this story so please check content warnings.

SO GOOD

No one writes bad guys like Christine. The feelings this book raises, right from the first page, were absolute rage on behalf of this poor woman. I call her poor, but she's so far from 'poor'. Myra is strong, independent, caring; her man was a dick!

Let's talk about Rabbit. We already know he's the fun guy. The one to make everyone's lives more fun. Unfortunately he loses this part of himself for a while, and it clashed with Myra and her sensibilities.

There's drama galore surrounding the clubhouse...... mostly at the hands of baddie number 2. Though baddie number 1 plays a part too.

I really can't praise this book enough; and I can't wait to assess where this journey takes us. Thanks Christine x

Rabbit

The wait is over and I for one am so happy Rabbit finally got his happily ever after. Rabbit is by far my favorite and his story did not disappoint. Rabbit has just been given a major blow and is spiraling out of control and it broke my heart. Enter Myra who is dealing with her own major blow. Myra is a strong women and can dish it out with the best of them. When this two meet it isn't pretty. Alpha, loyal, funny, caring, loving Rabbit that we all know and love reappears and we get to see why Myra is perfect women for him. Once again Christine has hit it out of the ballpark and I can't wait to see who falls next.

This was an entertaining read that was filled with well written characters and an engaging story line. I did not like the fact that she made the choice to completely cut her family and the biological fathers family completely out of her life and the life of the baby. I think that revealed a very juvenile personality in denying her child access to people that could have been an excellent source of love by grandparents that may be very different than they were as parents. I have no respect for people like that. This is my least favorite couple of this particular chapter which is sad since I liked them until the end.

Rabbit and Myra

Myra found herself not only pregnant by her boyfriend, but sadly lied to and betrayed by her entire family, so she decided to get the heck away from all of them and moved to South Dakota where her friend Cherry lives. She ran into Rabbit and as days go by he was actually treating her like trash because of his own breakup, and not understanding what she went through. A few twist and turns and sadly we also learn that all couple of men from entirely different clubs were raped unknowingly. Happy reading.

at the beginning of the book, when the heroine has a conflict with her ex, he says (about cheating) that it was weird, everything was hot and wet! Because you and I ALWAYS USED CONDOMS! And there in the dialogues it is said again that he and the heroine used condoms. And how he liked it without them with this woman. That's why he didn't stop her. But also in this same conflict and further throughout the book it is said that he and the heroine were actively engaged in conceiving a child!!! And in the end she is pregnant. So how did they actively plan with a condom!!!???

The Restart and the Remedy

Very cute story about Rabbit and Myra. Myra has basically had her life programed out for her since she was young and was getting ready for the big step and the people shes trusted all her life has hidden and kept things from her. And Rabbit has felt it was time to build a house settle down and start a family and the girl hes ready to do all this with takes off with another guy. Oh what a tangled web we weave. Cute story.

The tangled webs we weave

Although, for me, this wasn't as strong as some of the other books in the series, I still really enjoyed it. The storyline was always evolving and changing as it flowed. I was so glad that Rabbit got his story and was no longer the side character. There were so many tangents to follow that you had to stay focused, which kept you reading. Still loving the series nomatter which chapter we move on to.

Once again love it!

There has yet to be a book Christine has written that i don't fall in love with. The Aces High are by far my favorites, i love the way they are family even with the ups and downs. Rabbit is one of the funniest, which i very much appreciate in a book, it also makes the development of his relationship with Myra even better.
