“This little Piggy” by Teresa Imperato; published by Piggy Toes Press; Los Angeles; copyright 2003

1. Awards the book has received: This book has not received any honors.

2. Appropriate grade level(s): This book is appropriate for preschool through pre-kindergarten.

3. Summary: This book is about a family of pigs. The book counts down the pigs from ten to one, and each piggy does something different, or comes from a different place. Throughout the book you get to see different places that the pigs went and you get to see how they all end up together and in the same place by the end.

Review: I thought this book was very cute. It was like the original “This little Piggy”, but had a factor of counting from ten to one, which makes for great use in the classroom. It is definitely age appropriate and cute for younger children.

4. Uses in the classroom:
-With a partner, name 3 places the different piggy’s went.
-Pick a piggy that did an activity you would like and talk about why you like that activity (Ex: One piggy went for tea).
-Using a matching activity, order the piggy’s from one to ten and match them with their setting.
