Luck Be a Lady
From riches to rags – but there’s wealth in love…
Rebecca Bradford has had more to cope with in her nineteen short years than most people face in a lifetime. Her peaceful childhood in Kent is devastated when her parents and younger brothers are taken by smallpox.
When her cousin Richard offers to take her in, it seems an offer too tempting to refuse. But Richard’s bedridden sister is in need of constant attention, and when Rebecca moves into Richard’s house in London’s East End, Richard moves out.
Luck, it seems, has been anything but a lady. And when Rebecca is attacked while out shopping, it seems that fate is far from finished with her. Then Rebecca is rescued by Jimmy Jackson, an East End bookie with deep brown eyes and rugged good looks. And as she gets to know him, she realises she has found that rarest of men: one who is as kind as he is attractive…
For readers of Katie Flynn, Annie Groves, and Rosie Goodwin, Luck Be A Lady is a heartwarming East End saga.

Rebecca has it hard, she is nineteen, lost her parents and younger brothers due to smallpox and has to move to London, the East end when Richard her cousin offers her, Amy her sister and Phil her brother a home in return for looking after his bed bound sister Maud.
One day while out shopping she is attacked and meets the dashing Jimmy Jackson and her life is changed forever.
The pair soon fall for each other but there is a complication on the horizon, Jimmy's long lost wife and child...
This was such a sweet historical drama, great characters, lots of danger and excitement and just the right amount of romance.
A brilliant read, totally raced through it.

This writer holds your interest with good story lines. I have read most of her books and will read more as they are written

Really liked this historic family saga from the library.

Pretty good
Somewhat predictable. Story line different than most romance novels I've read. I would recommend it .
It did seem a little bizarre that he would leave the love of his life for 6 mos to establish a bond with his son.

Enjoyed the book it was an easy read and did become repetitive at times. You see families at their best and worst. I would read another of her books because they are an easy read and I didn't really have to think about the character and it was easy to follow the plot

(3.3/5) Obviously not the best book out there...(I bought it at a grocery store for, like, five bucks) but, it was enjoyable and easy to read. I don't regret it, per se, but I'm glad to be done with it! It was funny at times, I'll give it that.

Silly.
The story line was repetitive and just silly. I would really give this book no stars if that was an option.

A really good book, which I wasn't expecting. Very exciting ending with the gruesome cousins. I loved Rebecca and her sister, as well as Jimmy's son.

I thought this story was absolutely gorgeous. It is a great, decent length read with all the makings of a traditional romance book that made me want to keep reading until I'd finished. It has a healthy blend of mild suspense, along with the fairly traditional plain girl meets gorgeous man storyline. Beautiful!
