Ever felt overworked and underlaid? Or that you're slogging away in a job you don't enjoy to buy things you don't need to impress people you don't like? And that sometimes self-help books are no help at all?
If so, Nigel Marsh knows how you feel. In this, his latest book, the bestselling author of Fat, Forty and Fired recounts anecdotes from his recent family and work life that have given him pause to stop and think. Candid and inspiring, Marsh will make you laugh out loud as he tackles topics as diverse as work-life balance, sex in marriage (or the lack of it), parenting, death - even dog ownership.
Marsh's disarming humility and self-deprecating humour make a refreshing change from those experts who claim to have all the answers. Instead, Observations of a Very Short Man is simply one vertically challenged man's view of life - from the ground up.
Packed full of yarns and reflections. It’s seriously funny and quite useful. Nigel Marsh is a very wise man, he’s also candid and encouraging. Great book, worth reading.
This is a great book. Nigel presents his observations on every aspect of his life including fatherhood, working, trying to juggle the two, exercise, emigration, the different thinking patterns and mood swings of men and women, marital arguments, sexual abstinence, children squabbling, etc. It is a fantastic read. Whilst reading you will suddenly find yourself smiling and relating 100% to everything he is saying. This guy is brilliant in pin-pointing exactly what you are thinking and why we do things!!! It is amazing how often I have laughed at what is written on the pages. Sometimes I find myself wondering how his wife copes with his honesty and how their marriage has survived either her grumpiness or his bluntness. Then I'll read the next chapter and find myself in awe of their complete in-sync-ness (if that is such a term!). This guy is brilliant. He is the author of another book called Fat, Fired and Forty (or something like that). It will definitely be on my list of 'next reads'.

Got some out-loud haha moments. Nigel Marsh is a clever man, and has packed his book full of anecdotes and observations. Great read for a sunday morning, or to squeeze in a chapter while on the bus. It smacks a little of; i'm not saying its the best way but if i were you i'd... , so best in small doses.
worth reading - short snappy self-help tips written in a simplistic male way... makes you realise how different women and men are in some respects but glad i read it
