Books can be attributed to "Anonymous" for several reasons:
* They are officially published under that name * They are traditional stories not attributed to a specific author * They are religious texts not generally attributed to a specific author
Books whose authorship is merely uncertain should be attributed to Unknown.
I was assigned this volume when I attended a Christian elementary school for the final portion of 6th grade, and decided to pursue reading it completely. I read about a page every morning over the course of about 3 years (these study Bibles are a bit longer, when taking into account all the extra explanatory information on each page), and made a rule of copying down at least one quote from the page (which was very difficult during books like Kings and Numbers....). I was very determined to complete the challenge, and I did enjoy the fdeeling of accomplishment afterwards.
This version is quite easy to follow~ I recommend it for studying children.
My six year old son Reed is learning to read in first grade. Now he is really into bringing his Bible to Sunday School since he can read it. Unfortunately we didn't have a good age appropriate Bible so we've been letting him borrow ours. I have been keeping my eye out for a while for a Bible that would be perfect for him.
I was surprised to find that a lot of Bibles that were small and designed for kids on the outside, were still the exact same as my Bible on the inside. That's why I was thrilled from the moment I opened The Adventure Bible for kids. It is TRULY made for kids down to the very last detail.
The Outside
The outside has a cute parrot picture on the outside which I don't really love but it's made to draw the attention of kids. It's a hard cover so it will be well protected from the abuse kids books generally take. This is one I of course want to get a LOT of use so it needs to be sturdy!
The Inside
I like that there is a dedication page. I know that my very first Bible was a gift from my parents on the day of my baptism when I was twelve. I want Reed to cherish this for a lifetime and remember who gave it to him, even when he's transitioned to an adult Bible. I still have my children's Bible to give to my own daughter.
Next is a "How to Use this Bible" section that looks like an ancient scroll.
The next page is the ABC's of Christianity which is also very age appropriate. It basically tells how to know if you are Christian in terms little ones can understand. I think this would also be helpful for adults!
After the contents and books of the Bible there is a "welcome" section that explains all the contents of the Bible, how to use the different tools and what they are all about. I won't go through them all but here are some of my favorites.
Words to Treasure
These are verses in the Bible that are highlighted and as I flipped through them, I knew most. They are key verses that are known to most so they are perfect for memorization.
Live It
I like this because it's basically applying the Bible to your current life which is so important for kids Reed's age. It's often hard for them to connect the old Bible stories to their lives today so this helps them do it.
Full Color Pages
There are just twenty of these special pages in the Bible and they have a jungle safari theme, which ties into the parrot on the cover and the overall adventure theme.
My Conclusion
This is the perfect Bible for my six year old. It has the appeal that will draw kids in but without changing anything about the Bible itself. Every little detail was thought of in the NKJV Adventure Bible and I know Reed is going to spend hours exploring!

My Review:
This Bible is #1 for children readers. This one in particular is hard cover and is the New King James version. There are several different versions and covers available for the Adventure Bible. The Adventure Bible isn't just a Bible, it has a lot more included in it to help instruct your child to a deeper knowledge of the Bible. There are 20 full color pages that have inspiring activities and other important information to help those little hearts soak up the love of Jesus. There are maps and a concordance included as well.
My children's favorite as well as my own is the Life in Bible Times feature. I myself am always questioning what it was like back then and these little snippets make your imagination soar. One of the Life In Bible Times snippets discusses Men's Hairstyles back in the day. Israelite men did let their beards grow unlike Egyptians who were clean shaven. This special Bible has several interesting features, I can see why parents and children love it. If you would like to learn more, you can at this link.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the Z Blog Squad.
The NKJV Adventure Bible is the number one Bible for kids. It will take your child on a fun and exciting journey through God’s word.
A few of the features of this Bible are: • Beautifully illustrated hard-cover • Life in Bible Times – articles and illustrations of life in ancient times • Words to Treasure – Scripture to memorize • Did you Know? – facts to help your child understand God’s word • People in Bible Times – close-up look at some of the amazing people in the Bible • Live It – Activities to help your child apply the Bible to their life.
In addition to those, it has a large concordance, subject index, money, weight and measurement chart, map index and gorgeously illustrated maps. Also near the back of the Bible are instructions on how to care for your Bible and instructions in the front on how to use this Bible.
My biggest disappointment is the lack of red-letter words spoken by Jesus. I remember as a child turning the pages of my Bible and the excitement of easily finding and reading the words that Jesus spoke in red letters, which meant to me, it had to be important! All in all I was very impressed with this Bible. The true test came when my granddaughter picked it up and asked if once I was finished with my review if she could read it. My immediate answer---CERTAINLY—but you don’t have to wait for my review, you can read it now. Since I gave it her, she has called me with questions about things in the Bible and I couldn’t be happier, however I still encourage her to compare it with the JKV Bible.
Disclosure: I was given a copy of this Bible by the publisher, ZonderKidz, for an honest review. I was not required to write a favorable review nor was I compensated for my review. The opinions in this review are my own.
I am so impressed with the professional quality and artistic layout of this wonderful children's Bible. Not only are the 20 full-color pages absolutely gorgeous but they're filled with tons of important information. From the very beginning the reader is drawn into learning new things and finding rich treasure in God's word. Then, children can read the directions on 'How to use this Bible' by getting acquainted with book names and chapters, section head, chapter and verse number. I especially like the page on 'How to know you are a Christian' with the invitation to grow in your new life in Christ.
My grandson's Sunday School class has a similar jungle theme as the Adventure Bible. While reading God's word, boys and girls will have so much fun with these particular features inside:
1. Memorize Verses
2. Bible Facts
3. Pictures of Bible Life
4. Book Intros
5. Bible Application
My favorite section of the Adventure Bible that I find so engaging with all of my grandchildren, is the section called Live It! One example for personal application is about rich rewards in Ruth 4:1-22. Here kids learn to make cards for each guest at their birthday party and buy little presents with their own money. How precious to learn to be a thoughtful, loving friend. One more fine example of this great nurturing bible is from Live It! John 14:15-21 Paste a photo of yourself on a sheet of paper. Draw a big, bright circle around your photo. Let the picture remind you that God is with you, to give you strength to do right. The Adventure Bible is a great overall investment in planting seeds into your children and grand-children's lives. After all, it is the #1Bible for Kids!
I really like this awesome Bible for kids!! For me, I think it is so neat that we have Bibles that Kids will love to look at and carry. So much is out there today to distract our kids, it is just awesome to have these wonderful Bibles! This one has a lot of Interesting things that will cause your kids to love reading and study their Bibles. There are colorful pages, hands on activities for kids, and so much more. You just really need to check this Bible out for yourself!!! I have seen this first hand, and I just love, love it!!!

This bible is horrific. It's as though it was written by a mathematician with absolutely no literary skill or passion. Interrupting the passages are "children's activity sections," that do not correlate with the lack of passion in the translations at all and look downright clumsy. There are much more interesting adult bibles that have been written, that had I been given those, instead of this one, as a child, I might have actually read the entire bible cover to cover at a young age.
