Cutter (Sagebrush Bride)
Fiercely independent, Elizabeth Bowcock - "Doc Liz" as she's known by all -- vows to raise her orphaned niece as her own. Unfortunately, the child's grandfather has declared the unwed doctor to be an unfit guardian and refuses to deliver her to Liz's care until she finds herself a man...

Enter dark-haired, devil-eyed Cutter McKenzie. Outcast for his Cheyenne blood, the handsome halfbreed volunteers to pose as Elizabeth's husband. But though his wicked sex appeal threatens to undermine Liz's independence, the road to St. Louis promises even greater perils...

Christian (Kissed)
Swept from the aristocracy of England to The Colonies on the eve of war, Jessamine Stone vows to wed no man but her onetime fiancé, Christian Haukinge. She sets out to win back Christian's affections, unaware that her brother has already offered him a bribe to break her heart.

Driven by something dark, Christian agrees to the devil's bargain, but soon finds Jessie's innocent passion, trust, and faith undermine his resolve for vengeance. Now only the woman he has betrayed can heal his deep and scarring wounds. But these are dangerous times and love alone cannot mend all wounds.

AMAZING STORIES!

These two stories were amazing. I thought they were related when I bought it. Imagine my SURPRISE finding two different times and people. Could say a lot more but would ruin it for next person.ENJOY.

No depth, no interest

Misunderstandings and deception, well meaning or otherwise, are the stock and trade of romance novels. Used effectively they create delicious tension that ultimately ends in a satisfying HEA. Used gratuitously as they were in Christian's and Jessie's story and you get a boring, repetitive story that is a test of this reader's will to finish.

The premise that was used to set up the meeting of Christian and Jessie was far-fetched and unbelievable. Their constant on-again/off-again relationship was trying and went on entirely too long before the inevitable HEA. Both characters are hypersensitive and very quick to misinterpret each other's actions which leads them to cycle through attraction/lust/loathing/despair and tears so often that I became impatient with the characters and the story.

Bottom line: there is no depth to this story and I didn't feel compelled to wade through Cutter's story which is also contained in this edition.

Engaging read

I enjoyed the character development and the dialogue. Her stories took unexpected turns. I liked reading a book that isn't predictable. I also appreciate the women being strong and yet vulnerable.
