Sometimes all it takes to spark a second chance is one single wish. Especially in this small town…

Magnolia

I’m not the spoiled rich girl I used to be. And if my new business succeeds, I’ll finally be able to prove it.

Too bad my first job is planning a wedding…in my sworn enemy’s barn.

There was a time when I cared about Luke Durham with my whole heart. But that died when he assumed the worst of me.

Now, we’re stuck working together. Failure? Not an option.

But everything would be so much easier if I could forget how good it felt to be loved by Luke instead of hated...

Luke

Running my farm and being a single dad doesn’t leave me much time for grudges.

But for Magnolia James, I might make an exception.

I lost so much because of her. Even my heart. Forgiveness? Not possible.

So, I’ll work with her. But I will keep my mind—and my hands—off her.

Or so I keep telling myself…

4.5 Stars! Back with the Dragonfly Lake Crew! 💕

Single Wish is the fifth book in the Single Dads of Dragonfly Lake series. It’s a sweet and emotional story about our MCs Luke and Magnolia. There’s history between Magnolia and Luke. They were friends in high school and almost became more. However, their friendship didn’t end well. Years later, and we now have single dad Luke. Luke is the last single guy left in the single dad group in Dragonfly Lake. He’s now a farmer running his family’s farm. And although he would ideally like to find ‘the one’, he is extremely busy with his farm and taking care of his six-year old daughter. As for Magnolia, having previously hit rock bottom when she was disowned by her dad, she is now trying to rebuild her life and is now running her new special events planning business. As fate would have it, even with their terrible history, they are forced to work together when their mutual friends hire Magnolia to help plan their wedding as her first ever ‘special events’ event that will take place at Luke’s farm, as he too is trying to expand his business into offering his farm as a space to hire for events. The stakes truly are high as this not only is both of their first time doing this type of work, but it’s also the first time they’ve spoken or been around each other since their friendship ended. They obviously must remain professional, as well as get the job done, all while still hating each other due to their past. As time passes, however, and they spend more time together, they begin to see the sides of each other they had forgotten existed, and their old attraction slowly comes back. But can they make it work given their history and with all the previous hurt and anger still lurking beneath it all?

This was such a great read for me! Having previously read and loved all four of the previous books in the series, I was very excited to get to this one. And I was certainly not disappointed! Author Amy Knupp does such an amazing job weaving together a story of past heartbreak and second chances, with secrets coming to light. I loved getting to experience Luke and Magnolia fall back for each other. My favourite part was seeing both of our MCs’ growth! Especially former mean girl Magnolia grow into herself even more. (See I love a good character redemption arc 😜). There was soo much sweetness and tenderness. And of course it was nice being back in this beautiful small town with all the previous characters.

If you’re in need of a small-town, second chance, enemies-to-lovers story, look no further. This gave me all the feels!

Narrated by Erin Mallon and Ryan West. They both were amazing with bringing the characters of Magnolia and Luke to life. Magnolia’s vulnerability but also her resilience, and Luke’s gruff but gentle and loving nature shines through with their narration. They truly delivered!

Thanks to the author, Amy Knupp, and the team at HomeCooked Books for providing me with an advanced audio review copy of this book. All opinions provided in this review are entirely my own.

ALC Review!

Any single dad lovers out there? This trope isn’t just a highlight in book 5 of this series, it’s basically the whole series, and I’m obsessed!

Magnolia is finally free from her father’s toxic grasp and ready to start fresh as an event planner. She’s beyond excited to plan her friend’s wedding… until she finds out it’s happening at a barn being transformed into a wedding venue owned by none other than Luke , the guy holding a long-standing grudge against her.

Luke is juggling life as a single dad while running the family farm. Trying to expand the business, he decides to turn the barn into a wedding venue just in time to host his best friend’s wedding. But when the bride, groom, and Magnolia, show up, he is not happy. To say he knows how to hold a grudge is an understatement. But it quickly becomes clear that transforming a barn into a wedding venue is far more complicated than he imagined… and now he needs her help.

And because things aren’t complicated enough, Magnolia’s mum shows up 18 years after leaving and drops a bomb of shocking secrets. With Luke unable to stay away from Magnolia any longer, he’s finally ready to hear her side of the story, and soon realises he may have made a huge mistake. With the grudge no longer hanging over their heads, finally… finally!! …they give in to the attraction that clearly never left after all those years!

And of course, because it’s a single dad trope, we get to meet the cutest little girl whose Christmas wish is for her dad to get married… and who knows, maybe her wish will come true! *happy sigh*

And because audiobooks are my happy place, I listened to this one on audio, and loved it! Erin Mallon and Ryan West did an amazing job narrating and really brought the many, many characters to life.

Luke is a hardworking farmer and a single father. Magnolia grew up with every advantage, only to have to rebuild her life as a party planner in a town that still remembers her past. Their first interactions are prickly; watching that tension shift into something deeper was one of my favorite parts of the book.

The romance is sweet and spicy, and the writing flows so smoothly that I couldn’t put it down and finished the book quickly! Erin Mallon and Ryan West’s dual narration was fantastic and really brought the story to life!

If you like single dad stories, enemies-to-lovers energy, second chances, holiday settings, found family, or small-town charm, this one is for you.

Huge thanks to Home Cooked Books and Amy Knupp for the ALC copy!

Luke is the last single dad standing in the single-dad group in Dragonfly Lake. Ironically, of the original six he was the only one who wanted to find a partner and get married. He didn’t have tragic, sad memories or residual anger and bitterness over past relationships. He and his ex Jessie get along fine; things just didn’t work out between them but she is in their six-year-old daughter Addie’s life as much as possible. Fate found “the one” for the other five guys: Knox and Quincy, Max and Harper, Ben and Emerson, Chance and Rowan, West and Presley and they’re all living their happily-ever-afters but Luke is still wishing that “someone special” would magically appear to complete his little family. Prospects don’t look promising, though.

Magnolia is a character we’ve known for a while, too: the spoiled rich girl, mean, thoughtless, selfish until she refused to bend to her father’s will and was disowned without a cent. Now she’s desperately trying to rebuild and rebrand and redeem herself in the eyes of the Dragonfly Lake residents. She’s made some progress but it’s slo-o-o-ow. Far too many people still remember the old Magnolia and they don’t like her.

But Fate is on the move again. Luke is a farmer and is trying to expand operations by renovating his barn into a special events location. Magnolia is trying to build her business as a special events planner. They’re thrown together to make West and Presley’s Christmas Eve wedding one of those special events. The first big event for Magnolia and the first one at all for Luke and his barn, so stakes are high for both of them. Problem is, Luke hates Magnolia. With a passion. They were close in high school, had the beginnings of a relationship they kept secret. Luke saw a different side of Mean Girl Magnolia and treasured it. Magnolia felt seen and valued and desired by Luke. But things happened that destroyed their relationship. Luke was devastated and couldn’t forgive Magnolia. She couldn’t believe he wouldn’t even give her a chance to explain her side of the story. But that’s how it was and how it’s continued to be for years. And now they’ve got to make nice and work together for their best friends. The more time they spend together the more apparent that old attraction becomes but there might be too much hurt and anger to ever get past.

There’s a lot going on in Single Wish and as always author Amy Knupp just rolls it all out so smoothly and skillfully that you will be enchanted from the first page to the last. There are deception and betrayal, old secrets that are revealed, misunderstandings and disappointments, bitterness and stubbornness all standing in the way of any possible reconciliation. But there is also so much tenderness, reawakening of old feelings and habits, heat, desire, yearning – and a very adorable six-year old to keep everyone on their toes. Knupp’s cast of characters is well-defined, interesting, ranging from sweet and loyal to hateful and controlling. All the single dads and their children, the ladies they love and the rest of the folks from Dragonfly Lake we know and mostly love are there. And don’t forget Esmerelda the llama and her antics.

I was lucky enough to receive both advanced reading and listening copies of Single Wish. Best of both worlds, especially with talented narrators Erin Mallon and Ryan West on hand to bring all of Dragonfly Lake to life right before your eyes and years, especially Luke and Magnolia. Mallon and West make the hurt and hesitation – and the hope – feel real. Pacing, emotion, all just right. Single Wish is sweet, swoony, silly – and perfect. Single Wish is a must-read, and if you haven’t already read the previous books in the series and Knupp’s books before that you need to do that right away, too. I loved this book and recommend it without hesitation. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

✨ Feel-Good Romance

Star: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Single Wish is a beautifully layered and deeply emotional romance that captures the magic of small town life, the sting of past heartbreak, and the quiet hope that comes with second chances. Amy Knupp once again proves her talent for writing rich character-driven stories, and this installment in the Dragonfly Lake series might be one of her most compelling yet.

Magnolia James is a heroine you can’t help but root for. Once labeled a spoiled rich girl, she has worked tirelessly to shed that image and build a life defined by independence and resilience. Her new event-planning business is her shot at proving to herself and everyone else that she’s not the person she used to be. But her very first job forces her straight into enemy territory: Luke Durham’s barn. Magnolia and Luke share a complicated, painful history, and the emotional wounds between them run deep. The moment they’re reunited, it’s clear that time has done nothing to dull the intensity of what once existed between them.

Luke is a dedicated single dad and hardworking farmer whose entire world revolves around his son and the land he’s trying to keep afloat. He doesn’t have room in his life for drama or old grudges, but Magnolia is the one exception. She broke more than his trust years ago when she broke his heart. Seeing her again brings a tidal wave of emotion he isn’t prepared for. Luke tells himself he can work with her and keep things professional, but the connection they once shared refuses to stay buried.

The forced proximity, the simmering resentment, and the sparks of chemistry they both try so hard to ignore make every scene feel loaded with tension. Knupp expertly builds their emotional arc with patience and detail, allowing Magnolia and Luke to confront their shared past while slowly rediscovering the affection and longing they once had. Their journey is messy, raw, and incredibly rewarding.

Dragonfly Lake remains a cozy and vibrant backdrop, full of community warmth and charm. The holiday setting adds a comforting glow, making the story feel both heart-tugging and magical. The side characters, family dynamics, and small-town relationships enrich the narrative without overshadowing the romance.

What truly stands out is Magnolia and Luke’s growth. Magnolia’s vulnerability and courage shine through as she fights to redefine her life. Luke’s devotion as a father and the gentleness beneath his gruff exterior make him an unforgettable hero. Together, they navigate trust, forgiveness, and the possibility of building something even stronger than what they had before.

Single Wish is a touching, spicy, and emotionally satisfying romance that showcases the power of healing and the beauty of rediscovering love. Whether you’re a devoted follower of the Single Dads of Dragonfly Lake series or diving in for the first time, this book delivers everything you expect from Amy Knupp and more. A perfect read for anyone craving heartfelt emotion, holiday warmth, and a romance that feels both real and magical.

Single Wish is the latest in Amy Knupp's Single Dads of Dragonfly Lake series, and Amy has written an enemies-to-lovers romance with a lot of heart and romance. A worthy read/listen for sure.

Magnolia has a bit of a checkered past in Dragonfly Lake, growing up rich and somewhat entitled from the outside looking in. She admits she wasn't the best person when she was younger, but now that she's been disowned by her father, she's becoming the person that she really wants to be. This story is as much about Magnolia coming into her own as a person and getting a second chance at life, as it is about getting a second chance to fall in love with Luke Durham. The biggest thing standing in Magnolia's way is realizing that she does deserve happiness and love, and that she doesn't need to spend her entire life trying to atone for her past.

Luke was on the receiving end of Magnolia's past bad behavior, or at least he thought he was.

Awesome Story & Narration🎧Enthralling & Moving!

Single Wish
Single Dads of Dragonfly Lake, Book 5
By: Amy Knupp
Narrated by: Erin Mallon, Ryan West

I have been loving this series, “The Single Dads of Dragonfly Lake” with each dad finding their special someone and their story just as wonderful as the next. “Single Wish” is the fifth book of the series, and Amy Knupp has outdone herself once again, penning an amazing enemies-to-lovers small-town second romance. The story hooked me right from the start, grabbing my attention and holding it captive the entire time. I adored the two lead characters, Magnolia James and Luke Durham, and the secondary/side characters are fabulous, all are relatable, easy to connect with and ones you could easily be friends with. Magnolia and Luke has history, and despite coming from two different worlds, she from wealth, he from a hardworking farming family, their younger selves became friends, good friends until they had a falling out. Now, years later, Magnolia’s life has changed, all for the better, despite being disowned by her father and cut off financially. With help, she picked herself up and then started her own business, an event planning business. Her friend hires her to plan her wedding, with one caveat, ok, two, the location and who she will have to work with, Luke, but that won’t stop her and she will make it work. Luke has been running his family’s farm and came up with a business idea of turning a barn into a venue for weddings and events, a financial backup for when there are poor crop seasons. The first wedding will be his friends and he was not happy with having to work with his enemy, Magnolia, but their first meeting went okay, keeping it business-like, though slightly cold. They will make it work, and he realizes he could use pointers from her while tweaking out floor plans while his barn is being converted into a new venue. Luke is juggling a lot, a single dad of an adorable little girl,Addie, running the farm and having the venue built, but he manages it all and wants his new venture to be a success. This is a masterfully crafted story with multiple layers, and I loved how it all played out with the perfect balance of drama, angst, heartwarming moments, heartfelt emotions and slow burn, but so worth the wait, second chance romance. As always, Amy Knupp’s writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Erin Mallon and Ryan West were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Both were naturals in their roles, embodying their characters’ personalities completely, and conveying their every emotion in their performance, having you feel them all. These two versatile voice artists make a fabulous team, with voices and talent that complement each other and an enthralling performance that hooks you to the story. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to

“… an atmosphere of love and joy prevailed…”

💖📚 Story: 5 ⭐️s
🎧🎤 Narration: 5 ⭐️s

I love returning to Dragonfly Lake as each single dad meets his match! I love the setting and characters more and more with each book, and Single Wish is no exception! Plus there’s Christmas vibes and second chance. All I can say is, put it in my veins!

In book 5, Luke Durham is making some changes to his family farm to provide further stability for his young daughter and aging father. This entails revamping his barn into an event space, which puts him on a collision course with Magnolia James, up-and-coming event planner and his former secret high school hookup turned enemy. Whatever was between them back then never got the chance to grow. Magnolia is on her own journey; she’s trying to improve her life and grow her business, but she’s on her own. While raised in extreme wealth by neglectful parents, she’s since been disowned and is far from the poor little rich girl who thought she and Luke had a connection all those years ago. Now they just have to get through planning their mutual friends’ Christmas Eve wedding… and then learn to continually work together as Luke’s new space and Magnolia’s new business take off. And that lingering attraction they feel, despite their current antagonism? Well, surely that will pass….😉

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. It’s another fantastic Amy Knupp story narrated by perfectly cast performers. Erin Mallon and Ryan West wholly embody the MCs and are well-marched. Magnolia has so many layers. She’s working hard to make her business a success, while also dealing with lingering family drama. She’s also trying to live down some of her past behavior. Mallon embodies that journey so well; I was completely pulled into the character’s arc. I love a redemption, and there is an element of that to Magnolia, but she’s also already done a lot of work to improve herself. Now she’s trying to live in way where other people can realize how much effort she’s put in. She and Luke completely deserve their second chance. He’s her great match, but also has his own changes to make. In his performance, West is able to embody a good man still trying to do better. He’s also able to showcase the lovely relationship Luke has to his Pops and daughter, Addie. Plus, the way he plays those steamy and sweet moments make it crystal clear why Magnolia would fall for Luke!

Overall, this is an excellent second chance, festive, joyful listen with two fabulous narrators. As usual, I can’t wait to return to Dragonfly Lake!

I’m grateful to have received an ALC copy of the audiobook via Home Cooked Books. All opinions expressed are my own.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧
🎤 Dual narration by Ryan West and Erin Mallon

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Performance: 🎤🎤🎤🎤 🎤
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

POV: Dual, first person, past tense
What to expect: small town, single dad, enemies to lovers, second chance, holiday romance, found family, he falls first, riches to rags heroine, secrets

I think this is one of my favourite books in the series. If you’ve been reading my reviews for a while, you may have noticed I love a story where the villain gets their comeuppance, and this one delivers. It’s a cozy small town romance full of warmth and humour, slow-burn tension, secrets revealed, and, of course, a couple of appearances by our favourite llama, Esmerelda. This is book 5 of the Single Dads of Dragonfly Lake series, but can be read as a standalone.

Luke, who runs his family farm, is turning one of their barns into an event space, and the very first event is his friends’ Christmas Eve wedding (West and Harper from book 4) – which just so happens to be planned by his nemesis, Magnolia. Despite being from different worlds, Luke and Magnolia had a budding romance in high school – 17 years ago – that suddenly turned sour, and now they can’t stand each other. But they’re forced to put their animosity aside and work together for the sake of their separate new businesses. Imagine the tension!

Working closely together forces them to confront what tore them apart as teens and realise those old feelings are still there. Even though they start to clear the air around 20% of the way through, the journey to rebuilding trust, admitting their feelings, and deciding to try again is slow — which, I thought, made the relationship feel all the more authentic. The tension was palpable, the chemistry sizzling, we had some conflicts putting road blocks in the way, and it made the slow-burn feel so real — I was hooked.

I loved the cosy small town setting of this story. We get to revisit our favourite characters from previous books and experience the strong sense of community you usually find in small town romance. Magnolia may have grown up in a cold, loveless home, but being disowned led her to find the love she deserved in her new found family. From older residents like Dotty and her knitting group, to Harper and her circle of friends, to Luke’s father and daughter who welcomed her with open arms – it was so heartwarming to witness. I also enjoyed the subplot involving her family secrets and her mother’s reappearance. The way that storyline played out was so satisfying.

The narrators brought the story to life with their performances. Ryan West did a great job portraying Luke — you could hear the detest in his voice whenever he thought about Magnolia in his inner monologue. It really sold the animosity between them, making it all the more enjoyable when they finally made it back to love. Luke has a lot of emotions running through him – balancing the challenges of being a single dad, running the farm, starting up a new venture, and helping his dad navigate his health issues. Ryan West conveys all of it beautifully, making Luke a more empathetic character.

Erin Mallon is one of my favourite narrators and she never disappoints. Her voice always brings an air of light-heartedness to any scene, which was a great fit for this story. She perfectly conveyed the humour in all the comedic situations. I laughed out loud in the scene where Magnolia encountered Esmerelda the llama in a dark alley off main street. She portrayed Magnolia’s personality perfectly and I enjoyed all the different character voices she did, especially Luke’s voice – her male voice is amazing.

If you love spicy slow-burn holiday romances in a charming small-town setting, heartfelt family moments, and lots of laughs, you should definitely check out this book.

How do you erase years of distrust and dislike? When a missing ring gets Luke's mother fired from her job at Magnolia's parent's house, Luke and Magnolia's clandestine relationship is destroyed. Luke believes that Magnolia accused his mom and that she really is the mean, rich girl that everyone thinks she is and not the person he was slowly getting to know beneath that tough exterior. Now, Magnolia who was thrown out and cut off by her father after she refused to agree to an arranged marriage, is running an event planning business and has just been hired by her best friend Pressley to plan her wedding. The drawback, it is going to be held in the barn on Luke's farm in just over eleven weeks, even though the barn has not been fitted out to hold weddings and judging by the work needed, Luke and Magnolia are going to be working together very closely to get everything ready.

As Luke and Magnolia start their planning sessions, the atmosphere is tense, but the more time they spend together, the more they realize that the connection is still there and they chemistry still sizzles. The years of neglect and deception have taken their toll on Magnolia, and as she makes her way in the world, she knows that she can never again allow herself to be controlled by others in her life and this leads to serious trust issues that color all of her relationships. When her estranged mother comes back with life altering information that can finally set Magnolia free, the weight she has been carrying around lifts. As the secrets unfurl, and Magnolia's life unravels, she becomes stronger and happier in her new reality.

In the intervening years, Luke has become a single father to Addie, and adorable little girl whose Christmas wish is for her daddy to get married. With his life as a farmer, his daughter, an ailing father and refurbishing the barn, Luke is stretched thin and the prospect of working with Magnolia, whom he feels betrayed by, is just too overwhelming. With spending so much time together, their chemistry reignites and soon Luke and Magnolia embark on a relationship that blossoms into so much more. But with one kind gesture, Luke ignites all of Magnolia's insecurities and that threatens to tear everything apart.

This is a beautifully written story of love, forgiveness, distrust, and friendship. Magnolia is so strong and determined and desperately needs to succeed on her own, and this comes across so eloquently in this book. Luke is deliciously flawed; he wants to show his father that he can make a success of the farm after he is forced to retire and combine that with being a single father means he never feels like he is good enough. This book is a joy! Ms. Knupp weaves an uplifting tale that has wonderful character development and fun storylines. A great addition to the Dragonfly Lake series.

✨Audiobook Review✨

Amy Knupp has done it again! This series has been AMAZING!! I have listened to everyone of these books and then I had to buy the scenery books from Amy because the covers are STUNNING and these books are a MUST have. I once again fell head over heels in love with Magnolia & Luke. I also loved spending time with past characters. This book will have you feeling you emotions but will also make your heart melt.

Erin Mallon and Ryan West were the narrators and these two told Luke & Magnolia's story with so much heart. They made you feel a connection with the characters. I also loved that they held my attention and kept me entertained the entire time I was listening to this book.

Magnolia is a event wedding planner and has been growing her business in Dragonfly Lake. When her best friend get engaged she asks her to plan her wedding. The only downfall is she has to work with Luke the man she has been fighting with for years.

Luke is a single dad to his daughter and is running the family farm. He wants to take advantage of there barn by growing his own business and transforming it so they can hold weddings or other events. His mutual friends will be the first ones to have an event there and it will be for a wedding! So now he's trying to get this place transformed in time for their big day. But as he's trying to do that he has to work with Magnolia.

These two were friends then a little more when they were younger. But a lie that was told will tear them apart and have them hating each other for years. As they start working together they start getting closer but they have a lot to over come because they will come face to face with the past and will finally find out the truth.

I LOVED the chemistry these two had and the love he had for his daughter. Magnolia was so sweet to his daughter and I liked their bond that would take place. This book will have you go through some emotional moments but it's worth every minute for the beautiful ending you will get. I love Amy Knupp's writing and how she tells a story. I always get hooked from the beginning and I never want the book to end. I highly recommend this book and this entire series.

Thank you Amy Knupp and Home Cooked Books for allowing me to listen to this ALC for my honest opinion.

Single Wish is book 5 of Single Dads of Dragonfly Lake Series and what a perfect addition it is!
This is the story of Magnolia and Luke, they have some history back when they were seventeen they knew each other at High School, Luke was the roughly dressed farm boy and Magnolia earned a reputation as the spoiled rich girl, Luke’s mother worked at Magnolia’s house cleaning and Luke would come to pick her up, Magnolia and Luke got talking and became really good friends, and their relationship moved further until one day, Luke’s mother was accused of stealing a very valuable ring belonging to Magnolia and she was fired, not only from that job, but Magnolia’s father made sure she was fired from all of her other cleaning jobs. Luke was so angry with Magnolia, he thought he knew her, but she really is just the mean, rich girl everyone said she was! Eighteen years later, Magnolia who has been cut off by her father has started an event planning business. Her first real big client is her best friend Presley who is marrying West in 11 weeks and wants to hold it in the barn on Luke’s farm! Luke has hated Magnolia ever since his Mum had been accused of stealing that ring, it affected his mother deeply and he could never forgive Magnolia for the changes that they had gone through.. Magnolia has never forgiven Luke for just walking away from their friendship without even speaking to her, she can’t afford not to have this wedding go forward perfectly so she will be polite, professional and get through these meetings. Luke is not happy he has to deal with Magnolia, but he really needs this event to work, so he will be professional. Magnolia gets a call from her mother who she hasn’t seen or heard from for eighteen years, the news she gives Magnolia certainly is a big twist for her and she also is able to answer the questions about the missing ring and give the information to Luke. She also shares the other news with Luke and he gives her his support. Watching the relationship between Luke and Magnolia grow and develop was so satisfying, I loved the interaction with Luke’s daughter Addie, and all of the other characters in the book, an engaging, captivating and beautifully written story that I couldn’t put down.

**Audiobook Review**

This series has been so much fun with all the single Dads finding their HEAs. “Single Wish” is a swoony, heartfelt and romantic enemies to lovers second chance romance that I couldn’t stop listening to once I started.

Magnolia is an event wedding planner and has been growing her business in Dragonfly Lake. And when one of her best friends gets engaged, she’s thrilled to plan the wedding. Even though that means working with the man she’s been fighting with for fifteen plus years. Luke is a single Dad to his daughter and has been running his family’s farm. He wants to grow his own business by converting the barn into an event space and their mutual friend’s wedding will be the first event. The two have a deep history from when they were teenagers and a moment that changed their feelings towards each other. But as they work together, the truth from that event comes out and the feelings they had back then start to resurface.

Magnolia and Luke’s story was so much fun and I loved how they found their way back to each other. They had a deep connection when they were teens and it got taken away because of a lie that neither of them knew about. Magnolia is brave, smart and I admired her determination for wanting to start her own business on her own terms. Luke was also in the same boat turning the old barn into a venue that would help his family’s farm be even more sustainable and grow the business. His father might have not liked change but he pushed through his hesitations and made something of it. Magnolia and Luke had some things to work through and once all of the truths came out, they were able to overcome them like adults and try for a real relationship. The two had so much chemistry and the stolen moments they had together were so good. And Magnolia worked hard at forming a friendship with Luke’s daughter which was so sweet. The ending was so sweet and was perfectly romantic for them.

Erin Mallon and Ryan West narrated as Magnolia and Luke and I loved listening to them bring this story to life. Erin’s narration was sweet, caring and genuine just like Magnolia. Ryan did a great job bringing the protective and admirable Luke to life.

🎧📚AUDIO & eBOOK Review📚🎧

To say that I was brimming with anticipation for Magnolia’s story would probably be an understatement. I knew her story would “hurt” based on what I’d already glimpsed of her in past books, and Amy did not disappoint! Her story is supposed to hurt but also heal and it did everything it was supposed to do beautifully! *heart eyes*

Second chance romances make me happy. There’s nothing quite like a redemption arc when it comes to love. I always get really emotional over them no matter the author. They are also stories that if not done correctly, can tragically fail at all that is supposed to be good about them. This story did not fail one bit!

Magnolia & Duke’s story was full of swoon and also anticipation. There was an air of tension for me while I listened because I honestly just wanted them to bulldoze thru everything and get to that ❤️sweet spot❤️ as fast as possible! I loved these two that much! As the hours ticked by I became more and more invested in them not just fixing the past but creating a future for themselves. Amy has always had this ability to pull me into her stories and make me feel like I’m living the story and not just reading/listening and that’s part of why I love her so much as an author. Her stories are very relatable and organic and true-to-life. She’s fast becoming one of my favorite small-town vibe romance authors because of it.

🎧The DUAL performance by 🎤Ryan West & Erin Mallon🎤 was ridiculously perfect. The only circumstance in their narration that I honestly didn’t enjoy is that the listening speed for them was different. Unfortunately, Ryan had to be sped up but Erin couldn’t be sped up. LOL It drove me crazy at the beginning, but I got used to turning their speeds quickly, so it didn’t take me out of the story for long.

I was able to skim/read this story 2 weeks after I listened to it and that made me all kinds of happy all over again! I wanted to make sure with the whole switching speeds and twitchiness that came with that at times that I didn’t miss a single thing about their story!

Thank you to The Author Agency for providing the ARC of this story and Home Cooked Books for providing the ALC.

Second chance and single dad? Yes please!

A visit to Dragonfly Lake is like coming home. You’re guaranteed to fall in love with new characters and revisit with the ones you can’t get enough of. This is a great addition to the series. Luke and Magnolia’s story hooked me from start to finish.

Magnolia is back in town starting over after being disowned by her father. Her younger self was known as a spoiled, mean girl and today she’s trying to prove herself and stand on her own as an event planner. Her first major is event is a friend’s wedding. Luke, her nemesis, is renovating his barn to become an event venue. It’s the venue for the upcoming wedding, forcing them to work together. Luke and Mags have a history. They had a budding relationship as kids. Stealing secret moments as kids and looking past their differences until things out of their control separated them.

There’s twenty years of pent of feelings, tension, and miscommunication between them now. I love it when mature characters handle situations in a mature manner. These two took time to talk about what happened in the past so they could work together now. It doesn’t take long to realize the attraction never went away.

Narrated by Ryan West and Erin Mallon and they were music to my ears. Ryan was perfect as the single dad pulled in all directions and struggling between past hurts and his current attraction. Erin always delivers and she gave us all sides of Mags. Her feisty nature and determination to succeed, her vulnerability and emotions when confronted with her past and her strength.

Luke and Mags don’t have the easiest road to an HEA, but it made getting there so much sweeter. Seeing Magnolia reluctantly bond with Luke’s daughter, connecting with her first real set of girlfriends, dealing with her toxic parents and a wayward llama was fantastic. And seeing Luke, the only one of the single dad group that actually longed to be in a stable relationship, finally getting his was amazing. It’s bittersweet to see this series come to an end but this was the cherry on top of one of my favorite series.

Luke and Magnolia

You all know how much I LOVE a second‑chance, single dad, small‑town romance… and this one stole my heart.
Magnolia is done living under her father’s toxic shadow. After he tried to trade her future for money, she chose freedom, authenticity, and her dream career as an event planner. Her first big gig? A Christmas Eve wedding… at Luke’s barn. Luke—the boy she once loved, the boy she lost after family drama and a high school fallout.
Now they’re forced to work side by side. The tension, the chemistry, the slow‑burn trust‑rebuilding… pure holiday romance magic. 🎄❤️
I didn’t expect Magnolia and Luke’s story to hit me this hard. They start out professional, but when Magnolia finally meets the mother who left her eighteen years ago, everything shifts. The truths she shares with Luke crack open their walls, and watching them work through the past like adults was so powerful.
Their chemistry? Off the charts. ✨ The stolen moments had me grinning, and Magnolia’s effort to bond with Luke’s daughter was just the sweetest thing. The tension, the resentment, the sparks they try to ignore—it all made every scene feel loaded.
Dragonfly Lake felt so cozy and alive, the perfect holiday backdrop. What really stood out was their growth: Magnolia’s courage to redefine her life, Luke’s devotion as a dad, and the way they slowly rediscovered what they once had.
Single Wish gave me all the feels—messy, raw, heart‑tugging, and magical. It’s the kind of romance that reminds you healing is possible and love is worth the risk. 🎄

I absolutely adored Magnolia and Luke’s story in Single Wish by Amy Knupp, and found it to be the perfect way to wrap up the Single Dads series. This spicy, small town, enemies-to-lovers, second-chance, holiday contemporary romance is a delightful read, made even better by the captivating narration from Erin Mallon & Ryan West.

Sometimes all it takes to spark a second chance is one single wish, especially in the charming small town of Dragonfly Lake. Magnolia is determined to prove she's not the spoiled rich girl she used to be, banking on the success of her new business. However, her first job requires her to plan a wedding in her sworn enemy's barn. There was a time she cared about Luke Durham with her whole heart, but that died when he assumed the worst of her. Now they're stuck working together, and failure is not an option. Yet, everything would be so much easier if she could just forget how good it felt to be loved by Luke instead of hated.

Luke insists that running his farm and being a single dad doesn’t leave him much time for grudges, but for Magnolia James, he might just make an exception. He lost so much because of her, even his heart, and he feels forgiveness isn't possible. He resolves to work with her while keeping his mind—and his hands—off her, or so he keeps telling himself.

This book is a fantastic romantic escapism, complete with the chaotic charm of a small town and even a llama with an unhealthy obsession for sugar cookies and Magnolia! The narration was so good and brought real depth to this story. Though it is Book 5 in the Single Dads of Dragonfly Lake series, Single Wish can easily be read as a standalone.

This book grabbed my heart, stomped on it, glued it back together with glitter and emotion, and then whispered, “you’re welcome.” Amy Knupp, I bow to you.

Magnolia and Luke? I swear these two are the exact reason enemies-to-lovers AND second-chance romance exist. The tension?? The history?? The unresolved everything??? I was inhaling the pages like they were oxygen and I’d been living on Dragonfly Lake fumes.

Magnolia is NOT the spoiled girl people painted her as—watching her fight to rebuild her life and prove herself had me cheering like an absolute maniac. And then you put her first big job in her sworn enemy’s barn??? A man she once loved?? A man who assumed the worst of her??? Let me tell you, I felt that betrayal right in my chest.

And LUKE. My grumpy, stubborn, single-dad farmer with a heart made of melted caramel and poor decisions. The man is convinced he hates her… until he remembers he absolutely does not. He’s trying so hard to hold onto that grudge and failing so spectacularly every time she smiles or breathes or exists near him. I LIVED for every moment of him coming undone.

Their banter? Fire.
Their chemistry? Nuclear.
Their emotional baggage? Delivered first class and dumped right on my lap.

The slow unfurling forgiveness, the holiday charm, the forced proximity, the barn wedding chaos, the way they both still carry each other in their bones—UGH. I could cry just thinking about it. This is everything I want in a cozy, spicy, small-town romance. It’s messy, real, swoony, and so stupidly romantic I might combust.

If you want the perfect mix of heartbreak, heat, holiday sweetness, and that “these two were always meant to be” magic… Single Wish is your next obsession.

Magnolia James is the owner of Moments by Magnolia, an event planning business, and one of her BFFs Presley Holiday has just gotten engaged to Weston, single dad of three girls, so naturally she wants Magnolia to plan the ceremony, and they want the venue to be in single dad Luke Durham’s barn. The only hiccups in the plan are that they want to marry on Christmas Eve, eleven weeks away, and that Magnolia and Luke have past issues, but they both vow to make it work.

The two successfully stay professtional and ignore their history until Magnolia has a meeting with her mother who left her eighteen years ago, and what she learns and shares with Luke is likely to have a profound impact on their business and personal relationship moving forward. Not long after, they are brought together again by a
rogue llama named Esmerelda, and they share an intense good night kiss.

Goodness gracious, could anything else be added to this convoluted plot featuring two star-crossed would-be lovers torn apart by circumstances beyond their control? Their road ahead is littered with obstacles, including Magnolia’s wretched parents who want to control every aspect of her life, leaving her with scars she is determined to overcome. Amy Knupp once again demonstrates her prowess as a storyteller, and I was captivated from beginning to end, unabashedly rooting for our couple’s second chance redemption. Single Wish is a tour de force and a perfect holiday gift for lovers of friends, family, forgiveness, and happily ever after.

I received this book as an ARC reviewer and voluntarily offer my honest opinion.

I love this series and I was really excited to listen to the audiobook for this one. Erin Mallon and Ryan West did such a good job with this story that had many layers to it. Magnolia’s childhood may have been rich with money, but it was poor in love and affection. With people often using her for her name or her status, she cherished the secret bond she had with Luke when they were young. After Luke wrongly assumes the worst of her and refused to hear her side of the story, Magnolia is determined to keep him at a distance. And since he seems to hate her, that shouldn’t be an issue. Luke has spent most of his adult life hating Magnolia for something he thought she did. Even before he finds out that he was wrong, seeing the new version of the girl he knew is making it hard to resist her. The narrators brought out all of the complicated emotions each character was going through so that you felt like you were in the story. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Read this if you love:

💖 Enemies to Lovers

💖 Second Chance

Magnolia grew up privileged in a way that many would be envious of. She never had to worry about little things like money, but her home life left a lot to be desired. After she refuses to the marry the man her father has chosen for her, she is kicked out and left to fend for herself. Starting her own business is scary and when her first major job means she has to work with Luke, she knows it is going to be hard. But failure is not an option.

Luke’s life is very busy and his kids take up most of his non-working time. Sinking a lot of resources into renovating his barn and turning it into the “go to” destination for events is important to him. And if he has to bite his tongue and work with the woman he’s hated since he was a teenager - so be it. When Luke learns that he has been wrong about Magnolia all these years, he knows he needs to make it up to her however he can.

I definitely recommend the audiobook for this story. I just felt like it allowed me to be fully immersed in the book.

Thank you so much to Amy Knupp and Home Cooked Books for the ALC of this story!

Single Wish is a heartwarming contemporary romance.

I really liked the heroine Magnolia. She was disowned from her wealthy family after breaking off an engagement. She's starting an event planning business and learning how to be independent. She's changed a lot since high school, which is where she met the hero Luke. Luke is a single dad and farmer. Luke and Magnolia had a budding romance back then but it was ended abruptly due to a huge misunderstanding. This causes a 20-year rift between the two; hence the enemies to lovers trope. I thought this second chance, enemies to lovers romance was adorable. Once the truth about the events of the past were revealed to Magnolia, she and Luke mend fences and resume their romance like no time has passed. I thought their chemistry was sweet, but wish that there were more emotional/little moments between them. It seemed that these two jump right into bed and didn't really seem to connect (at least on page) beyond that. Overall, the romance was fine. It was sweet and steamy.

This was definitely a feel-good story. The found family aspect with the single dad group and the girl gang was truly heartwarming.

This is also a holiday romance. Knupp does a good job bringing holiday cheer to the page. We get a Christmas Eve wedding, Christmas tree decorating and a tree farm.

Narrators Erin Mallon & Ryan West did great with the audio. My personal favorite out of the two was Erin Mallon. I thought she did a great job with Magnolia's character.

Generally, I thought this was a sweet contemporary small town, enemies to lovers, second chance romance. Plus it was a quick read.

Single Wish
Single Dads of Dragonfly Lake 5
by Amy Knupp
Narrated by Ryan West, Erin Mallon

Magnolia was a mean girl in school. From an affluent family, she was that girl, except when Luke came to pick up his mother, who was worked for her family. The two grew close, sneaking around in the dark stealing kisses. That is until his mother was accused of stealing. The severed relationship took it's toll and now years later, they are forced to work together, each with their anger still evident. Luke's new venture to rent out his barn for events relies partly on the talent of Magnolia's party planning. Working together proves to be a challenge as the two bat heads, but their chemistry is still strong. Where does it all land? This is a touching enemies to lovers, second chance romance that had me from chapter 1! Each scene builds the tension and the story flows with ease. I loved Luke's dad, he is a great character! And Luke's daughter has his best interests at heart, even at a young age. Loved this listen, getting to see the other couples of Dragonfly Lake, it was like coming home! Enjoyed this one!

Erin Mallon and Ryan West tell this story with all the emotion. Mallon starts out with Magnolia with a chip on her shoulder, and slowly she finds her way to giving into her heart. Her voice is spot on for each feeling, plus her kid voice is perfect! West has an amazing voice, and he plays the broody rancher perfectly. A bit angry and a bit frustrated, he gives in to the love he feels and it's perfection. Loved this narration!

I’m such a sucker for a small-town enemies-to-lovers romance, and this one did not disappoint!

Magnolia has finally stepped away from her father’s name—and all the toxicity that came with it. After he tried to set her up with an awful man for his own financial gain, she realized that money comes and goes, but being real is what builds genuine relationships. Now single and determined to make her own path, she’s opening her dream business as an event planner. Her first big client? Her best friend… who wants a Christmas Eve wedding. The catch? The venue is Luke’s family barn.

Luke—the boy she once secretly fell for. Their closeness was something special despite their different backgrounds: she grew up wealthy, he grew up working-class, and that divide eventually tore them apart, especially after his mom was fired as her family’s house cleaner. A misunderstanding in high school shut the door on their friendship, and they’ve been “enemies” ever since.

Now they’re forced to work together—Magnolia as the planner and Luke not only as the barn owner but also a groomsman. And oh my gosh, the angst. Their chemistry simmered with every scene, and the slow rebuilding of trust had me hooked. These two were absolutely perfect together!

And the narration? Erin Mallon as Magnolia and Ryan West as Luke knocked it out of the park. They brought every emotion to life and made the tension, longing, and growth feel so real.

Such a fantastic small-town second chance/enemies-to-lovers win!

This story of Magnolia and Luke is now my favorite of the series. It really had a bit of everything!

Magnolia has been cut off financially from her father and has built her new life as an event planner. Luke is running the family farm, which includes a Tree Farm. He's remodeling an old barn to be a venue for the area and is now working with his old high school love Magnolia. That he now hates because she got his mom fired.... or did she?

Luke's relationship with his daughter... ahhh why do good dads always reel us in? But Luke is fantastic, and throw Grandpa in the mix and their family is adorable!

Set in the backdrop of their small town, and a deadline for a Christmas Eve wedding in the barn and the holiday warmth does shine through this story from Thanksgiving until Christmas. You want to have some cocoa ready while you listen, I think it will enhance the experience.

And then you have Erin Mallon and Ryan West? Well the audio just shines. This is my 4th Erin holiday book this year and I'm loving my Christmas of Erin.

I do really appreciate Magnolia's story arc. She's abandoned by her mother and left with her cold hearted father. Who eventually cuts her off when he can't control her. She rebuilds her life from the ground up. She grows her business, makes all new friends, she rediscovers love from the past, and with a twist of fate she makes plans for a non for profit to help abused women get aid, education and a place to live to get their lives on track too.

I really enjoyed this book from start to finish there wasn't anything that didn't keep me hooked!

🎧Dual narration by Erin Mallon & Ryan West
🎧Audio performance: 4/5

This was so stinking cute!! I loved it. I love a single dad romance, and he was so good with Addie. Many times, I know there are enemies to lovers books that it doesn’t really make sense why they hate each other, and I really enjoyed that there actually was a good backstory for their dislike and a resolution from it. Sure, it could’ve originally been solved by just talking, but they were young. I would much rather have conflict AND resolution, and this book delivered!

Plus, Magnolia getting closure for her childhood? So deserved. I am so happy for her and her ending in this book was absolutely perfect. I really love how the relationship grew between Magnolia and Luke, and how that expanded to Magnolia getting a relationship with Addie, too. It just makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

The girl group was so much fun too! I’ll have to go back sometime and read the prior books to get more of how their friendships blossomed. I love a girl group.

Overall, this audio was pretty good. There were some points where both Erin and Ryan took me out of the story because of the dual narration, but it wasn’t anything I couldn’t get over in the end. I did get confused a handful of times who was speaking, too.

This was so cute, and it came out at the perfect time for Christmas and the holidays!

It always tickles me when we see the mean girl get her comeuppance, but who knew it could be so rewarding when she finds redemption? Magnolia James is easily my favorite mean girl ever, and seeing her overcome her past and find her forever with Luke Durham and his daughter Addie is everything!

In the charming fictional world of Dragonfly Lake, TN, the people are welcoming, the friends are for life, and the town mascot, Esmeralda the llama, can make a surprise appearance anytime, anywhere. Magnolia may have fallen from affluence but she's worked humbly and diligently to overcome her past and make something of herself. Her event planning business is up and running, with her first big event being her BFF Paisley’s wedding.

Unfortunately, this means she has to work with her high-school friend-turned-nemesis, Luke Durham, to retrofit his historic barn into a glamorous event space. Speaking of history, there's a lot between them—a lot of misunderstandings to right and healing needed if they’re to move forward.

Oh my heart y'all, just when I think I’ve read her best, this gifted wordsmith raises the bar and then easily leaps over it without blinking an eye. Magnolia and Luke's story is humorous and charming, but full of heart and emotion, and I couldn’t get enough! With single dads, faithful friends, and the best four-legged secondary character you’ll ever meet, this one has everything we love in an epic romance read.

Awesome Holiday Read
We met Magnolia James in had a horrible home life growing up. Now that she has been disowned by her father, she is determined to change her life and make it on her own. Something that she could be proud of. She never wants to be dependent on any man or for any man to have any kind of power over her ever again, whether financially or emotionally. Luke Durham had a crush on Magnolia James when he was six years old. At seventeen, he rode on a high when he started to get to know her. Then doubts crept in. He could not believe someone rich like her would be interested in a farm kid like him. She had a reputation for being a mean girl which she proved to him to the devastation of his family. He has wanted nothing to do with her for the last eighteen years. Now that they are forced to work together memories and connections come back to the surface and need to be hashed out. This well written enemies-to-lovers second chance romance that had me in everything from tears to laugher. Luke is the only one of the single dads in Amy Knupp’s “Single Dads Dragonfly Lake” Series. that wanted to find a woman to make his family complete, but he is the last to have that dream come true. His year old daughter, Addie, is priceless and she has a special wish that she wants to come true too. I love the small town charm of their story. It is brimming with friendship, family, love and holiday spirit.

Story Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (0-5)
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧 (0-5)
Overall: 4/5
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 (0-5)

What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 Local girl deserving of a redemption story, especially in Erin Mallon’s narration, bringing out Magnolia’s spunk and strength.
🤩 Gotta love a farmer. And Ryan West does farmer Luke so well.
🤩 Single dad in small town Dragonfly Lake. With sneaking around.
🤩 Seasonal mood readers—this one goes fall through winter!
🤩 I adore the time on Main Street! It’s one of my favorite parts of small town romance!
🤩 Such a fun wedding planning, workplace romance type plot
🤩 That need to know, mixed with excitement to see their interactions!!
🤩 The tension and anger is biggggg, loving the feels.
🤩 This second chance has me crying in the first quarter. I can be hard on a second chance, but the timing in this one is so good.
🤩 That apology & first kiss.
🤩 And second kiss!! “I’m not asking for forever, Magnolia. I just want to kiss you,” he said. “Is it okay if I kiss you?” ❤️‍🔥🫠
🤩 The chemistry, flirty fun, and intimate hotness!

What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About:
💫 I love her apology and the Christmas HEA; however, I’m holding a grudge for the missed opportunity for steam in the barn. Come on! It was so fitting for them. I love a good steamy scene after the time apart to solidify the forever HEA. I would have settled for a scene in his bedroom. Either way, it would have been their first time having to be quiet.

🎧Audiobook Review🎧

Magnolia and Luke became friends when they were in high school. Luke’ mother worked for Magnolia’s family, so when he picked up his mother they started talking and became friends. But then a big misunderstanding happened, and Luke started ignoring Magnolia.

Now years later Magnolia is a event wedding planner and Luke is a single dad working on his family’s farm, and they can't stand each other. But now their friends are getting married. Magnolia is the wedding planner, and Luke is converting his barn into a wedding venue. So, they have to work together.

When secrets are revealed, it seems now is a good a time as any to confront each other about their dislike. And it seems that old feelings never went away…

I loved this story. I was so anxious about the issues between Luke and Magnolia, and I just wanted them to sort out their differences and get together.

Magnolia went through so much, starting over and finding out some hard truths. And dealing with Luke’s judgement, but she was strong and fiercely independent. I loved that when they finally sorted out their issues, and they started to explore their feelings. Magnolia definitely fell in love with Luke’s little girl too. Loved the story, the characters.

Narration was awesome, totally spot on with Erin Mallon and Ryan West 😊 Totally loved this narration combination!

I'm going to whole heartedly miss these (no longer) single dads of Dragonfly Lake and the town and Esmerelda. I've loved every single one of them and I'm sure they'll be reread at some point or another.
The 'hatred' between Magnolia and Luke had my attention long before they got their story. I've wanted to know why the town had such apprehension toward her. Man, oh man...Amy did them right.
I was wholeheartedly rooting for Magnolia as she set out the make her future a bright one. Yes, her evil 'not'father cut her off but that was the best thing that had ever happened to her. Reading her story just had me wanting to reach thru the pages to hug her. She was so determined to become better, to do better. I have to give it to her, she had a knack for event planning and I was so happy to see she had Presley and Dotty in her corner. I wanted to slap her mother for her lol All in all she just deserved better and I was so happy to see she finally got her happy ending.
Luke was a hustler! This man wanted to provide for not only his daughter and dad, but he wanted to set up the employees and give everybody in his orbit a better future. He was so determined to get the wedding/event barn off the ground on top of running the farm. He pushed and pushed and even when you felt like he was going to quit, he came back for more. I felt for him because he didn't have the support of his dad 100% but I loved watching him with his daughter. She was cute and so wanted her dad to be happy and find somebody to love lol
Finally getting Luke and Magnolia's story and why they had the 'bad blood' between them was a punch to the gut. To find out the behind the scenes and what actually happened. That Magnolia's 'dad' was the one pulling the strings and destroying things along the way without a care in the world, hurt me. After so many years since high school, watching Luke and Magnolia finally hashing things out and moving past all of that, falling into something more and finding love was *perfection* Having them work together on West and Presley's wedding was just the right push they both needed to work on forgiveness. I loved watching Magnolia learn to forgive herself along the way for her parents' transgressions and she definitely had some of the best character growth.
I'm sad to say goodbye to this little ragtag team but I'm so excited to see what happens next. There better be more shenanigans to come and another feral animal to cause them.
