She was my first love. I was her first heartbreak. Now she’s back—with a kid who might steal my heart before I earn a second chance at hers.
Running into my high school sweetheart at an NHL meet-and-greet wasn’t part of the plan. Neither was teaching skating lessons to the nephew she’s raising on her own.
The moment I see her, it all comes rushing back—the way she used to smile at me like I was her whole world, the future we almost had.
I let her go once to chase my hockey dreams. Biggest mistake of my life.
She’s tougher now. Guarded. Fiercely independent.
But there’s still a spark when our eyes meet—something unfinished, undeniable, electric.
I’m not the same guy who walked away.
Now, I just have to prove it.
The only question is… will she let me back in?
The Love Comeback is a no-spice, second chance, single guardian hockey romance. It's the third standalone novel in Kristine W. Joy's Glaciers Hockey Series.(/i>

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Kade Santos & Ella Smart - Dual POV - Slow burn - NHL Goalie MMC - Middle school math teacher FMC - Ex-high school sweethearts, “she’s the one who got away” - Second chance - FMC became sole guardian of nephew
✨ a few of my favorite things: - Kade & Colton’s relationship 🥹 - The hockey FaceTime - “I love you” - Kade being understanding and not pushy. He was consistent and patient - Ella’s sacrifices and love for Colton - The ending 🥹
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book 3 of the Glacier’s hockey series - this is such a sweet, wholesome read. The big theme in this book is fear holding you back. Kade and Ella both get held back by different fears and it keeps them from each other for years.
1 John 4:18 ESV “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.”
This verse kept popping up in my head throughout this whole book. Once both MCs let go of their fear and realized it was scarier to live without each other, they finally got their HEA over a decade in the making. 💕
I teared up at the ending. The MCs have so much thoughtfulness and care of each other. The way they band together and become a family is so heart warming. I loved on included Colton was in everything and how both Kade and Ella loved him wholeheartedly.
This is a clean, closed door romcom with kissing. There is no cursing or innuendo.
**Thank you so much to Kristine for letting me read this ARC. I received a complimentary copy. No positive review was required. All thoughts are my own.**

this book was such an amazing addition to the Glacier Hockey series 🥹 I can’t wait for more!!
Ella. Ella loves with her whole heart and it’s evident in everything she does ❤️ I always love books about teachers 👩🏼🏫 and her friendship with Valerie was amazing! And of course, her and Colton 🏒 after her brother and sister in law tragically died, she takes her nephew in ❤️🩹 I loved their dynamic so much 💞 and I was crying so hard a few times over them 😭
Kade. Everyone knows about his girl-that-got-away but have no idea she’s the mom to the little boy Kade is giving hockey lessons to 🥅 I loved how Kade worked to gain Ella’s trust and friendship first before working on their romantic relationship 💘 and his connection with Colton was SO CUTE 🥹
Colton. I always love giving shoutouts to the little and he deserves one 🥰 Colton has such a big heart. I love how emotionally intelligent he was and communicative 💗
This book was absolutely packed with all the feels 💗 I loved it!
⚠️ CW: car wreck (before book), FMC has parent with dementia, divorce,⚠️
This was such a great story, I love second chance romances, I love the familiarity between the two leads but also love watching them see the changes since they last saw each other and how they adapt to each others new lifestyle.
Kade had made hockey his whole life and it cost him his high school girlfriend Ella. She was the one that got away and he never truly got over her but he did manage to make a name for himself in hockey.
Ella never got over Kade either but she had other things to worry about. She became the sole guardian of her nephew Colton when her sister and brother in law passed in a car accident. Her boyfriend at the time lasted a year before bailing on them both so Ella has done all she can to raise Colton on her own since he was five.
A chance meeting puts Kade and Ella back on the same path and Kade starts helping Colton learn to skate and play hockey so he can try out for a local kids hockey camp.
I loved watching the three of them together, Kade was so good with Colton and wanted to help him succeed, even when Ella didn’t want anything to do with him. He was true dad material. He was always there for Ella, sometimes overstepping a little but he always had her and Colton’s best interests at heart. Ella was such a good person, always doing the best for Colton, regardless of what it cost her in money, time or sleep.
I was so glad to see their story play out into a beautiful ending that had me sniffling. I loved it!
This was such a sweet second chance at love. High school sweethearts Ella and Kade are reunited unexpectedly. They brought together by Ella’s nephew Colton’s desire to play hockey and Kade teaching him.
Favorite parts: -how wonderful Kade is to Colton-from practices to being at his games and letting nothing stand in the way of that relationship. -Kade realizing how much he always needed Ella. -Ella letting Kade in bit by bit, especially with how worried she was that he would hurt her again. -their night building bookcases and the nostalgic moments they had. -all their pizza nights -the circus
Favorite quotes: The memory of Kade’s lips on mine sends an electric current through my body. Where, during those few stolen moments in the trainer’s room, everything felt right. Like the universe had finally clicked back into place after years of being slightly off-kilter.
I love Ella Smart. I’ve never stopped loving her. And if there’s even the smallest chance that she loves me back—that those words I heard weren’t just a desperate plea in a moment of fear—then I’m going to fight for her. For us. For the future we should’ve had all along.
BOOK OVERVIEW: “She was my first love. I was her first heartbreak. Now she’s back—with a kid who might steal my heart before I earn a second chance at hers.

Gah! Such a sweet book! Ella has been through so much, and Kade is so patient. I got sucked in to their story and could not put it down.
ARC Book Review The Love Comeback A Nobel Written By Kristine W. Joy Fiction - Romance Published July. 2025 333 Pages ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the third book in the author’s Glaciers Hockey Series. This hockey romance is a second chance at love for the two main characters.
Kade Santos and Ella Smart were high school sweethearts. Kade broke her heart when he chose his hockey career over her. Years later they find themselves living in the same city, Atlanta. Kade is a professional hockey player who regrets the way their relationship ended. Ella is a divorced middle school math teacher. She is also the legal guardian of her 10 year old nephew, Colton.
Kade and Ella’s story tugs at readers’s emotions as they get reacquainted as adults. Colton’s story is sad. Ella has a very loving relationship with her nephew. Kade develops a bond with Colton and becomes a strong role model for the boy as he gives him private hockey lessons. Ella really struggles with her emotions as she considers rekindling a relationship with Kade.
“….. having these two in my life feels like a victory more important than anything we could achieve on the ice.”
Probably my favorite in the series so far. Loved the premise and the resolution. If you like closed door romances with a hockey theme, these are great books for you!
This book is absolute perfection!!! Kristine is one of my favorite authors that I’ve been so lucky to find on bookstagram. I have loved every single one of her books and this one is no different.
The storyline for Kade and Ella is so sweet. They are high school sweethearts that went their separate ways, but never stopped loving one another through almost 10 years apart. This story highlights their rekindled love through healing and grief.
Main Tropes:
Single guardian FMC Hockey player MMC Second chance Book 3 in Glaciers Hockey Series Family healing Closed door
Okay, this one hits you in the feels in several places throughout the book. Do you ever wonder what it would be like to cross paths with your ex of everything? Not only that, but they are famous, too? Well, that is reality for Ella when she moved her, and her nephew, Colton to Atlanta. She had just gotten a teaching job in mathematics at a junior high school. She has been under so much pressure since her sister, and brother-in-law were killed in an automobile accident. It had been five years, but some days it felt as if it were only yesterday.
Colton is an amazing young man who was five when his parents passed and was left with Ella and her husband who were just newlyweds. And well, it only took a year before her husband decided he was not cut out, or ready to be a dad. Therefore, they divorced she never looked back, but it crushed poor Colton to now lose a second male role model. He was confused and unsure of himself and his surroundings. Then, as if that wasn’t enough on Ella’s plate her mother whom she had been helping to care for had been becoming more forgetful for longer periods of time, and her doctor recommended a facility in Atlanta.
So to be closer to her mom she packed up everything and made the move to be closer. Which is a lot of change for a young man of ten. So to make the transaction easier she had arranged a surprise for a big night before school started the next day. His father, Brett, in college was a hockey player and a natural on the ice. He could have made it to the NHL, but when Katie, Ella’s sister, became pregnant, he put hockey in perspective and finished out his college. Brett said, It was more important to him to be the best dad he could be to Colton.
More important than hockey. Ella arranged for them to go to see the Atlanta Glaciers Hockey team. Colton has been bouncing through every minute of the game. Her not so much. She’s been trying to pry her eyes off the man who broke her heart nine years ago. When out of the blue Colton asked if he could go to the Meet & Greet after the game that the Jumbo Tran posted about. How could she tell him no because she could stand the thought of running into her ex the one who had even been at his birth?
So the Meet & Greet it was. And guess who notices her? Yup! You got it. Kade Santos the Glaciers' very own Goalie. What Ella didn’t know is that Kade had always regretted breaking up with her. He had been pressured on all fronts at home even his twin who most would think should have his back but never did. Two weeks after the breakup he tried to contact her, but she had blocked his number on everything, text, and email. His team even knew her as the one who got away. But that night the three met Colton and Kade hit it off.
That's when Colton said he wanted to be a hockey player. Ella said they would first have to get him lessons. That’s when Kade said he would love to do both for free twice a week. So starts the reconnection of two young people who are cautious not to rock the boat for fear it might sink before they can get a chance to clear the air. Some parts are funny, but other parts will tug at your heart.

Review: Love how Kade tried his very best to help Ella out in any way he can but also respected her boundaries. He adores her nephew, Colton who she had custody over because of the death of her sister and bro-in-law. Love their moments with Colton which is just so much of awww...moments. Ella is also a great guardian for his nephew and doing whatever she can to makes his dream of being a pro-hockey player. Love that they open up to each other and also their feelings for each other still as strong as ever though it is hard to break Ella walls because of the hurt that she had encountered in her life. I was gifted complimentary ARC. All opinions are my own. Thanks @kristinewjoy for the ARC.
This 3rd book of the Glaciers’ Hockey Series. If you haven’t read the 1st book and 2nd book you should. It’s Cameron and Nila’s love story and Blaze and Addy’s love story.
Can’t wait for the next story.
You can purchase this story from Amazon and it is available on KU.
This started out really strong. I loved the premise and I definitely felt the emotion of heartbreak and regret between Ella and Kade in the beginning. But then the book just didn’t follow through. It was several little things that made this three stars for me.
The story got a little bogged down with Colton’s hockey career and mundane details that felt like filler. Do I really need to know what each person orders for lunch or how long you’ve had your old sneakers?
Colton is ten, but he seemed to be much younger. He was so enthusiastic and everything was the best ever!! My son is almost 10. He’s a typical boy, can be a little ridiculous and silly. He loves sports. But I’ve never seen him behave the way Colton did or say the things Colton said. At least not since he was like 6 or 7. However, the scenes where Colton and Ella are having serious talks were done really well. Those conversations felt genuine.
Ella became friends with Valerie, a newly divorced co-worker with a son the same age as Colton. Later in the book Valerie gives Ella advice on her relationship with Kade. It bothered me a little bit that we didn’t get any backstory on her divorce. Did her ex do her wrong? Was Valerie also to blame? Can we trust any of the advice she’s giving Ella? I wish we had gotten more there.
It also appeared the author didn’t research her details very much. Later in the book Kade is on a SIX hour flight from Atlanta to Boston… a quick Google search told me it takes just under 3 hours. And Kade got a hockey scholarship to play for LSU? Yeah no… LSU does not have a school hockey team. They have a club team, thanks again Google for confirming, but I’m not sure those teams give full scholarships. And that’s just such a weird choice for a school. The South is known for football. Hockey isn’t one of the big three down here (football, basketball, and baseball). If he’s good enough to go pro why not choose a university up north? That would have been more fitting.
And the name of the hockey team for Atlanta, GA seemed silly. The Glaciers? In the southern United States? Another hockey series I’ve read had an NHL team in Atlanta called the Hurricanes. That was a good name choice! Something along those lines would have been better than the Glaciers.
I enjoyed this story, but all in all it was just ok. The author does have potential though! She had me tearing up in the beginning and I love when authors are able to get me in my feels.
ARC Review The Love Comeback by Kristine W. Joy (Glaciers Hockey #3) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If you love second chance romances with all the feels—and a dash of hockey—you’re going to want to add The Love Comeback to your TBR immediately. This beautifully written story hits all the right emotional notes while keeping things warm, uplifting, and utterly engaging.
Ten years after their teenage romance ended, Ella and Kade’s paths cross again—this time under very different circumstances. Ella, now the guardian of her young nephew Colton, is starting over in a new town… the same one where Kade Santos, now an NHL goalie, lives. He sees this as their second shot at love, but Ella is hesitant to open her heart again. The chemistry between them, though, is undeniable.
This story is equal parts heartwarming and heartfelt. Kade is one of those rare book heroes who genuinely steps up—not just for Ella, but for Colton too. Watching their bond grow was touching and added a beautiful layer to the story. Colton completely steals the spotlight with his hockey dreams and sweet connection to Kade.
The dual POV format lets us get inside both Ella and Kade’s heads, making their journey feel even more personal. Their romance is slow-burn, full of emotional tension, tender moments, and the kind of growth that feels real and earned. The supporting cast brings warmth and depth, and the strong themes of family, healing, and rediscovering joy add so much heart to the narrative.
This is a closed-door romance—sweet, emotional, and clean—perfect for readers who want all the love without the spice. And although it’s the third in the Glaciers Hockey series, it easily stands on its own.
The Love Comeback is easily my favorite in the series so far. It’s a charming, feel-good romance about timing, trust, and taking chances. If you’re a fan of second chances, single guardians, swoony athletes, and heartwarming stories that leave you smiling, this one’s for you.
A big thank you to Kristine W. Joy for the advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions are my own.
The Love Comeback is the third book in Kristine W. Joy’s Glaciers Hockey series. I loved books 1 and 2 in the series, and I adored this one just as much. It was the perfect addition to the series, but it is also a beautiful standalone second romance.
The story focuses on Kade, Glaciers’ goalie, and Ella, his ex-girlfriend from high school. After years apart, Ella turns up at a Glaciers’ meet and greet. Kade is shocked to see Ella, especially when he learns Ella is now her nephew Colton’s guardian. Kade is determined not to let Ella out of his life again so he starts teaching Colton how to skate. As Kade tries to get to know Ella again, he realizes that she had been hurt a lot in the past and has strong walls surrounding her heart. The story that follows is full of so much love and forgiveness and growth as Ella and Kade slowly get to know one another again.
Ella and Kade were both fabulous characters. I loved how their connection was so strong from the second they saw each other again, even though Ella fought it so hard. Second chance romances can be tricky to get right, but I loved how this one played out. Kade really put in the work to win Ella back. I loved how devoted Kade was to Ella even when she shut him down so many times.
I adored Colton. His relationship with Ella was so sweet. Colton had experienced loss and change, but he was still open to love. I loved how enthusiastic he was about hockey. It was so fun to see Kade and Colton bond over hockey. I loved how their relationship developed.
Things I loved: -second chance romance -hockey romance -single mom -all the hockey players -the first kiss -great communication -the slow burn -Kade’s patience -Ella’s walls finally coming down -the adult I love yous
I finished this book with a smile on my face and a sigh of contentment. Joy balanced out the angst and fear of a second chance romance with the heart and humor of a romcom. It was so well done. I adored this book.
The Love Comeback by Kristine W. Joy is book 3 in her Glaciers Hockey series but can be read as a standalone. This book is told from a dual Pov, following Ella Smart and Kade Santos. Ella and Kade dated in high school until Kade dumped Ella right before she left for college. Ella was heartbroken and felt Kade had chosen hockey over her. Kade regrets what happened all those years ago. When Ella shows up after a Glaciers hockey game signing with her nephew, Colton and all he wants to do is repair the damage and get her back, even if it means giving Colton free skating & hockey lessons. After Colton lost his parents and Ella gained guardianship of Colton she wants to do whatever it takes to make him happy, even if it means she has to be around Kade to help Colton with hockey. This book had it all, it was swoony and the banter was great. I absolutely loved it. Kade is the ultimate book boyfriend with all green flags. I can not wait for more from Kristine.
🏒 Hockey Romance 🏫 Math Teacher FMC 🏒 Cinnamon Roll Goalie MMC 🏫 Second Chance Romance 🏒 Single Guardian 🏫 Secret Pining 🏒 Dual POV 🏫 Closed-Door Rom-Com 🏒 Swoony Kisses 🏫 Slow Burn
Everyone knows about my one that got away, but no one knows it was the pretty brunette that showed up at our game last week. I haven’t been able to get Ella out of my head, especially after everything she told me. She’s taken on a lot. And it pairs so well with her resilience.
But for those twenty minutes, it felt like we were so much more than a professional hockey player, a struggling single guardian, and a kid who’s lost too much. We were three people who fit together in a way that feels as natural as breathing.
My heart gives a little stutter at the mention of Kade. Lately, things between us have been … different. Not a bad different, just complicated. Like we’re both tiptoeing around something neither of us is ready to name.
She gives me one last meaningful look before heading to the door. “And for what it’s worth,” she adds, pausing in the doorway, “I’ve seen the way he looks at you when you’re not watching. That man is still very much in love with you, Ella.”
I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.
Before I begin, I would like to thank Kristine W. Joy for allowing me to read a copy of her new release, The Love Comeback, which is available on Amazon starting on July 22nd, 2025.
Kaden Santos encounters his first love at an NHL meet-and-greet and finds himself offering hockey lessons to the nephew she’s raising by herself. He sees her, the memories they shared, and the future they were close to having before he broke her heart. Pursuing his hockey dreams and leaving her was the worst mistake he ever made, and he’s not going to do it this time. Ella’s guarded, tougher, and way more independent now, but he’s not the same guy that left years ago. Their chemistry is still there and undeniable. Will Ella let him in and give him a second chance, or are they both heading towards another round of heartache?
This book was fantastic. You have Ella, a clever, hardworking, sweet, independent, and beautiful young woman that’s devoted to raising her nephew and works long hours to make ends meet. You have Kaden, a strong, charming, considerate, kind, and handsome professional hockey player that loves his job but never forgot his first love. Colton was amazing. The interactions between the main characters were charged, honest, sweet, and funny. I appreciated the compassion and heart the author wrote about grief and the difficulties of being a single parent. Valerie was a hoot, and it was wonderful to see familiar faces from the previous books in the series. I cheered for both Kaden and Ella to become more confident in themselves and what they wanted throughout the book. Overall, if you like hockey, complex characters, found family, and sweet single parent / second-chance romance with low spice, then I would highly recommend this book.
Second chance romances are my favorite trope because everyone deserves a second chance. I have never seen two people who deserved a second chance more than Kade and Ella.
This story had the author's signature wit which I have come to love with plenty of laugh out loud scenes, but it was also full of emotions outside of the romance itself. Ella is raising her nephew, Colton, after she lost her sister and brother-in-law five years ago and then shortly afterwards she went through a divorce. She has moved to a new city and new job to be closer to her mother who has dementia. She has a lot on her plate, but she handles it with grace and without complaint.
Kade is professional hockey player. He is both delighted and shocked to see Ella and Colton standing in line at the meet and greet after the hockey game. He knows he hurt Ella years ago. He sees the possibility of a second chance.
Both characters are complete sweethearts in every sense of the word. They have both changed a lot in ten years. They have grown up and see the world a lot differently than they did as high schoolers. I knew I was going to like Kade when I saw how he acted and included Colton in everything. Be still my heart. His attention to Colton made this young man feel special. I could go on and on about everything that was special about this second chance romance, but suffice it to say that I enjoyed it immensely. I cannot think of one thing I disliked about this book, except maybe Kade's meddling parents and twin brother, which you will more fully understand when you read it.
Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I didn't think this series could get better, but this book absolutely blew me away. I've made it no secret that I adore romcoms with grit and grace. This second chance romance is beautiful- raw and real - with all the feels and hitting the right notes. By Chapter 16, I was crying, and then by Chapter 29, I accepted the tears were just part of the story.
I've enjoyed the sweet hockey romance niche for a while now, but in this story, the hockey is so important. It is a strong thread that destroys and builds in equal measure- forcing choices that define lives for better and worse. It tears Kade and Ella apart in the beginning and reunites them after tragedy years later. The hockey is so central to the relationships and confessions that happen in this story in the best way.
The romance piece was so sweet. I would rate second chance romance in my top three favorite tropes, and this story would definitely be top five of all time. I loved how the dual POV let us see inside both Kade and Ella's minds, but I really loved knowing how much regret Kade held for the past and how much current pining he had. He knew he wanted Ella (and Colton) and all that it entailed. He was steady, and I just love a good guy in a romcom.
Don't miss this story, even if you haven't read the series. In my opinion, this is Kristine's best story yet!
I received a complimentary copy of the author's story to read and review. All thoughts contained here are my own.
This was such a sweet story! First of all, I love both a hockey romance and a second chance romance, so a story that is both? Even better! Kade and Ella were both such great characters-- and impossible not to root for. Their chemistry was fantastic, of course... it didn't take long for all their old feelings to come back after being reunited once again. Theirs is a perfect example as to why I love second chance so much. Sometimes it's not a matter of it being the wrong person, but more that they needed to grow up some more before getting that second chance, and I did love seeing that growth and the glimpses of their history as well. As much as I loved the relationship between these two, Colton's character definitely made this story even better. The way that Kade wanted to take care of not just Ella, but Colton as well? Well, it was just the sweetest. I loved the bond between these two so much. Kade truly was just what both Ella and Colton needed. While their story had many moments that had me laughing out loud, it was also tender and emotional (touching on topics of grief and dementia), and I loved it all.
The Love Comeback is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. It is the third book in the Glaciers Hockey series but could absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
It Took Patience and Determination for his Second Chance - Ella’s life was all about Colton and her job, so the last thing on her mind was relationships, so she wasn’t interested in rekindling her relationship with her high school boyfriend who broke her heart. Even though Kade was the one to initiate the breakup with Ella, he doesn’t seem to have gotten over his feelings for her, so seeing her again years later reignited his long held love for her. Kade knew getting Ella to give him a second chance would be difficult, so he used the ruse of training her nephew to get close to her.
Ella tried everything possible to maintain a platonic relationship with Kade, but he persistently found opportunities to keep pushing her boundaries to make her aware of his intentions and was determined to get a second chance. Nevertheless, it took Kade getting hurt during one of his games for her to finally acknowledge her feelings, so they could have the chance at getting the happy future they deserved. Are you ready to embark on an extraordinary journey filled with passion, desire, an emotional journey and camaraderie in a captivating romance story, that will transport you to a world of possibilities, then look no further than this amazing book.
I received an advanced review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Where do I even begin? This book was such a good read! I was in tears by the end, overcome with how tender it was. Among the humor and romance was the sweetest story of what it truly means to be family.
I adored all the relationships between characters. Ella and Colton are the strongest little duo, finding their way in a new city and navigating tough circumstances. I love that Ella keeps the memories of his parents alive for Colton, but allows him room to grow and shift in how he experiences family. She would do anything for him, and it shows in every single thing she does. Colton and Kade…*all the heart eyes*. Kade is SO good with Colton and knows how to SHOW UP. Kade and all of his teammates are fun to read. They have some of the best interactions! The relationship between Ella and her mom is so precious, as they navigate loss.
And of course, Ella and Kade. They have SO much to overcome before they can find their happily ever after. They not only have to find their way back to love, they have to become friends again first. Ella is a bit stubborn in that regard because she knows that once they’re friends, the love they never lost for each other is sure to come roaring back to life.
This second chance, single guardian, hockey romance was full of laughter, heartache, and courage. This is the 3rd book in the Glaciers Hockey Romance series.
The Love Comeback is a second chance, contemporary hockey romance featuring Ella Smart and Kade Santos.
When Ella's sister and brother-in-law were killed in a car accident, she became Colton's guardian. The two just moved to Atlanta for her new job as the head of Meadowlark Middle School's math department and they're still getting settled.
Her 10 year old nephew loves hockey. When she brings him to a meet and greet, she finds her first love sitting among the players. Ella and Kade Santos were end goals but Kade's parents felt that the two were too young for a serious relationship and their son needed to focus on his career. They encouraged him to part ways from Ella before leaving for college. Kade broke Ella's heart and she never recovered. As for Kade, Ella was always the one that got away. He never stopped loving her and jumped at the chance to get know her again, and to hopefully woo her.
When Kade learns that Ella has been raising Colton on her own, he wants to do anything he can to help. He therefore offers to give Colton hockey lessons, and helps to train him for an exclusive hockey camp that only accepts the best. Over time he comes to love Colton and does the most important thing - he continues to show up for the little boy proving that he isn't going anywhere.
This was a really sweet story. I could appreciate how Kade was influenced by his parents at a young age to make a tough decision, one that he quickly realized didn't sit right. I can also understand how Ella felt when Kade broke up with her. It completely came out of the blue, leaving her shocked and distraught, and choosing to block him was what she needed to do to try to move on. I love that these two found each other and were offered a second chance at a lasting love.
I'm a fan of Joy's writing and this book did not disappoint. I would definitely recommend checking out her sweet love stories.
The Love Comeback is a heartwarming second chance hockey romance that delivers all the feels. As someone who loves both tropes, having them combined in one story was a total win.
Kade and Ella’s chemistry was undeniable from the start, and it was so rewarding to watch them navigate not only their rekindled feelings but the growth they’d each undergone since their first go-around. Their story is a perfect reminder that sometimes it’s not about the wrong person, it’s about the right timing.
What truly made this book shine, though, was the inclusion of Colton. The way Kade stepped up not just for Ella, but for Colton too, was incredibly touching. Their bond added an extra layer of emotion to the story, which was already filled with tender, humorous, and poignant moments especially when including themes of grief and dementia handled with grace.
This is a closed-door romance (just kisses, no language), and while it's the third in the Glaciers Hockey series, it can easily be read as a standalone. With lovable characters, genuine emotional depth, and a strong sense of family and friendship, this was such a satisfying read. If you’re a fan of second chances, hockey, and feel-good stories with heart, this one’s for you.
The Love Comeback is an electrifying, swoon-worthy, romantic, heartwarming, witty, and "awww" worthy read! This is the third book in the Glaciers Hockey Series and I am obsessed! This series is full of sweet hockey romance books that bring some heat with character compliments, intense yearning, and fabulous wit while still being a closed door romance appropriate for teens and adults alike! I love the banter in this book! The main male character Kade is such a cinnamon role and I am here for his gentle charm! His thoughtfulness and approach to exploring the spark that is clearly still there with his former high-school sweetheart just kills me! It is sooooo sweet! I love him! Ella is such an admirable female main character. Her selflessness, forgiveness, and kindness make her standout. The fact that she is raising her nephew on her own and doing all she can to make his childhood dreams come true is beautiful. She is the kind of character deserves a happy ending and I was so happy with how the book ended!
I have read this series sequentially and highly recommend reading each book....but they can easily be read as standalones! I truly adore this storyline, the lovable characters, and the fantastic setting! This is one of my favorite reads this year!!
This was a sweet book that tugged my heartstrings. The FMC was really strong, and I loved her and her nephew - he was so sweet, grateful, and full of life! The MMC was also very sweet and caring, and I loved his bond with the FMC's nephew.
I had only some minor issues with this book. For one, I almost skipped this book since I saw no blurb!!! It has been two months since the book was released, and I really hope the author updates the blurb so that people do not miss this sweet read. Next, I would have really wished some small aspects of the book were different - like more alternating timelines showing the past to understand the relationship between the two characters, more about the MMC/FMC pining during the fallout and trying to reach one another, the MMC telling the FMC about what happened or rather what also made the MMC's parents to convince him to distance from her (she never got to know about the 4 letter word even till the very end). It just felt like the cliche "you see her again, realize you have never fallen out of love and that all this while you were comparing her against other women and hence that is why nothing worked out" scenario. But this was indeed a nice book and I am glad to have picked it up!
This is the third book in the Glacier Hockey series. While all interconnected, each book in this series can be read as a standalone. This is such a sweet second chance romance!
Ella and Kade were high school sweethearts, but after 10 years their paths cross again. Ella is now guardian to her nephew, Colton and they are starting over in a new town which just happens to be the town that Kade lives. He is an NHL goalie and it just happens that Colton really wants to play hockey! Ella and Colton run into Kade at a meet and greet, and he offers to teach Colton to skate. Kade sees this as a chance to get to know Ella again and maybe get a second chance with “the one who got away”. As they spend time together, will Ella let go of past hurts, let her walls down and get her second chance at love?
The chemistry between these two is undeniable from the very beginning! Ella is juggling so many things between Colton, a new job in a new town and caring for her mother; she handles it all with grace, but it sure is sweet to see Kade step in and support her where he can. I love that Kade stepped right in and was there for Colton as if he was his own even when tension was high with Ella. I loved seeing the support from the hockey team too—they were always there to give advice to Kade! Their story is tender and emotional, but also had me laughing—I loved it! It is just impossible not to root for Ella and Kade!!
If you love slow burn, hockey romance with strong themes of family, healing and growth, be sure to pick this one up!
Thank you to the author for the copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
Another great Glacier’s hockey addition. This story is about Kade, who is the goalie for the Glacier’s hockey team. He is known for his quiet, stallworth demeanor, always the perfect gentleman and respected by his teammates. On their opening night of this new season, he happens to look up in the stands and thinks his eyes are deceiving him. There she stood, Ella his high school first love, the person he always thought he’d always be with, until everything went wrong. All of his emotions hit him at once, how much he cared for her, and how much it hurt when he broke things off with her. The story is a beautiful second chance at romance. I really enjoyed the characters. Ella is now the guardian of her nephew, Colton, after her sister and brother-in-law were killed in an accident. I love how dedicated they are to Colton. How strong Ella is to handle so many trials in her life. It is a charming, feel good romance. It definitely touches on many real life issues, but also on so much goodness. It is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. It is a clean romance with no profanity, which I really appreciate.
Ten years ago they were in love, fresh out of high school and headed to college. 5 years ago her sister and brother-in-law were killed in a car accident leaving Ella and then husband Landon to raise her 5 year old nephew. 4 years ago Landon bailed, they divorced, and it was just Ella and Colton. Now? Ella took Colton to his first hockey game. He loved it and wants to learn how to play hocky. His dad played hockey so Ella can't say no... When they get to meet the players after the game, she's forced to interact with her first love, goalie for the Glaciers, Kade Santos. And life becomes complicatedly so much better for Colton. Such an emotionally charged story between Colton's parents sudden death, her mom's Alzheimer's, new job, and Kade! I admit I cried for them a few times, and fortunately some happy tears near the end! Characters were realistic, supportive, good people. (Mostly...) I stayed up far too late because I couldn't make myself stop reading, but had no regrets! It was an awesome book that left me wanting more. Surprise! An epilog was the perfect ending!
