Can a loyal soldier of Rome follow his heart?

Primus Centurion Titus Augustus Romulus has fought tirelessly to reclaim Hadrian’s Wall from the clutches of the barbarians. Once his goal is achieved, he sets his sights on a long awaited advancement to lead the entire Roman province of Britannia. But when Elspeth stows away in his chamber, things begin to go awry. As time passes, he uncovers the mysterious warrior woman’s talents…until she’s exposed as a Pict spy.

Elspeth has been bred to hate Romans. Never would she allow her heart to betray her code of loyalty. But Titus’s stare raking across her body sends shivers over her skin. For a moment, she loses herself in the rugged centurion’s allure…until her world crumbles.

Can an ardent soldier of Rome gain the courage to turn his back on his duty? Love versus honor clash as Titus battles all sides in a fight to uncover the truth, invoke justice and follow his heart.

Great Story, poorly written

I This author spins wonderful stories, she has a great imagination but unfortunately is unable to write well, and it would seem without the benefit of an editor, who could correct some of the mistakes and misspellings. She has a habit of sending her characters ‘out the door’ and ‘out the window’, and has them
saying ‘you better’ or ‘they better’,forgetting the ‘would’ or the ‘’d’. These don’t seem to be American usage as I have never encountered this in other American writers like Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Capote, Henry James et al. Also she has a very shaky knowledge of the use of the apostrophe - something else a good editor would solve. There are frequent examples of the use of an entirely wrong word - ‘conscious’ when ‘conscience’ is meant, among others. She also persists in calling the ancient Celtic Scots ‘Gales’ instead of ‘Gaels’ although stating that they speak Gaelic! All of these things are very distracting for the reader, and
tend to detract from the sense of time and place. A great shame since, as mentioned above, she has a great imagination and constructs thrilling stories. Get a good editor!

Bottom line is, Elspeth and Titus are two selfish fucks who thought that it was okay to risk other people just to be together goddamn these two are so fucking infuriating.

Interesting

I really enjoyed this book as much as book one. The characters were well-written. It was nice to see Elspeth as headstrong as ever and able to find love with Titus. Great story that had a nice flow to it. It was hard to put down. I am hoping Greame gets a book of his own.

Captivating

Another love story, Any has managed to draw out each character, from temper to frustration, from longing to pleasure, all of which enables the reader to wrap themselves in a blanket of isolation from current daily trials and tribulations.

A exciting romance

I enjoyed this book. Sometimes when I read about Roman soldiers I didn’t think about the brutal ways they were trained. Love brought two people together with some hard decisions.

Celtic honor

Wonderful book! Full of Celtic history. This was an exciting book that was so interesting that it was hard to put down. I recommend this book, but strongly recommend reading the first book in this 2 book series first, to get the true flavor of the Celtic life and these characters! Very enjoyable!

Riveting

I loved learning of the earlier history and battles. They were hardened and fierce warriors who were most loyal. Truly enjoyable.
