Riding Darkness was a quick paced read where Ares is a prospect in the Back Down Devil MC. He should be more but his own personal punishment is not to be patched in. While doing lowly prospect work Ares finds himself in the position to kidnap a woman. Brook is the sister of the guy that Ares is after to stop him from running a racket in the Back Down Devil MC territory. Brooke and Ares hook up quickly and may even be falling for each other.
Brooke could be his down fall and he may have to kill her. Brooke seems naïve to what her brother has been up to and she doesn’t know anything. So why does she feel a strong pull towards Ares? Ares will need to trust her if he’s to finish the job. The members of the MC have tasked him with taking out Brooke’s brother and possibly her if things go bad. While Ares can take out the brother, he’s not sure about Brooke. The guys in the MC aren’t bad even if a bit childish at times, as men will be. Riding Darkness was an enjoyable ride.

People that know me, know that I love an MC book, so I was intrigued about this book.
I found this to be a quick paced read and we are brought into the world of Ares.
He is a dark brooding man, who has a past that he brings into his future. A past that he feels that he cannot escape and doesn't deserve to.
Brooke is forced into a situation and I feel that deep down that she knows the truth but she doesn't want to believe it. I feel she is that way because she doesn't want to lose the only family she has left.
A situation that both Ares and Brooke are in throws them together. Can both of them help bring each other out of the darkness?.
After reading this novella, I think I am going to have to read the other books in this series.

Wow oh wow! Each book gets better & better! I could not put it down! I had to find out what happened next! Love all the different characters...very different personalities! Very heartfelt, tender, well written, hot & steamy book! Even had me laughing...Blaine is crazy! Can't wait for his book!! Loved Ares! He deserved to be happy. If you like hot alpha mc males with tattoos then this book is for you! I received a free copy for my honest review. I enjoyed this book, I would definitely recommend It! Can't wait for the next one!!

Didn't quite work for me, though it may be more a 'it's me, not you' kind of situation. I didn't feel any connection to the characters, therefore I didn't buy into the love between the H/h--lust yes, love...not so much. I know it's a novella, therefore everything has to happen kind of fast, but still...I would need to read another book in this series to see if those issues are still present in a full length novel.
Plus, I'm not entirely sure that MC books in general are going to work for me or not...

MUCH BETTER
Although better, be warned this story takes place even before book 1 and there are no "old ladies" for Gage or even Erik. There are no spoilers either way.
Although short, the characters of Ares and Brooke are likable. Both have a real story to tell but this book only grazes the surfaces. Further development could have been expanded.
One other thing I liked is that Ares only says he "is falling" instead of "fecking falling" or saying "I fecking love you"! Those phrases have been done to death and it's time to retire them. Just saying...

AWESOME
I rated this book a 5 because once I started I couldn't put it down. I love outlaw MC's and London Casey can sure write them.
Ares and Brooke made a great team in working together and with the club . Nothing like hot and steamy scenes between them.

When I started this one, I thought "Oh another MC, what will make this one different?" It has to have an alpha male and a woman to tame him. And yet the story line for this one was different and exciting for me. Brooke is with her brother Armen and they are running from someone, but she doesn't know who. Arman is trying to get more cash so they can run again and the job is not a good one. Not when there are three rival MC and men in suits there and the job is an underground gambling ring. Armen only wants to steal the money and run again. When Brooke sees Ares, she is speechless and can't move. Ares seems to be drawn to her too. When all hell breaks loose, Ares grabs Brooke and gets her out of the line of fire. He will keep her safe and get what he wants in return. Will Ares make her see the truth about her brother? Will Brooke leave Ares and the MC when she can? Will she go back to Armen? This is one of those stories that will keep you glued to every work and taking a deep breathe wanting more when it is over. This is a first for me from London Casey and a first from this series and I loved it and can't wait for more.

This is my third London Casey book to read and I pretty much have enjoyed them all...quick reads that have enough action, romance and interesting characters to keep me going until the last page.
Arman and Brooke are a brother and sister... their parents shot dead, and they are now working cons to make quick cash and stay on the run from "the bad guys who killed their parents". When they mess with the wrong people (Back Down Devil MC) all hell breaks loose and Brooke ends up being taken by Ares, a nomad un-patched biker who helps the MC but won't patch-in for personal reasons. His protection of Brooke starts off as just trying to keep her away from the men who shot at her brother and at his friends, but ends up becoming more when she is forced to choose between helping the MC or saving her own brother.
I liked how this one played out...it was at times violent and at others very sexy but mostly just a good story of brotherhood and finding the one who would make a difference in whether you live or die alone or with someone who cares, by your side.

Ares and Brooke meet when her brother runs another one of his gambling scams and Back Down Devil MC gets involved. Ares is taken in by Brooke and, when things get out of hand and shots are fired, he protects her. Brooke was pretty clueless throughout this novella and could barely think straight. Her brother fed her lie after lie and she believed him without a second thought. When Ares finally confronts her with the truth, she doesn't want to believe him. Ares is guilt-ridden over his own failings in another club so he is also a mess throughout this novella. We finally get to see both of them get their heads screwed on straight and go for what they want. Overall a decent read but too much dialogue missing between Ares and Brooke for me to believe they were destined to be together.

Love this series. Ares and Brooke were a great addition. The only thing was that I didn't realize in the beginning that the timeline was before Gaige and Emily's book(Outlaw Revenge)so when Gaige was eyeing up Brooke and making a play for her and then talking about other girls I was getting pissed off!! lol

I downloaded Riding Darkness as a free book from Amazon. While I enjoyed the story, but there wasn't a lot of deep character development to make me fall in love with Brooke and Ares. The story was darkly plot driven, and fun to read, but there were weaknesses and dropped threads, which could have been addressed in a full-length story..

This is a prequel to book 1. None of the main characters of the other books have girlfriends yet, and Miller is the MC President. Short and violent. Lots of smex, but not very descriptive, and very fast scenes.

While I liked the story, there wasn't a lot of deep character development to make me fall in love with any of the characters. The storyline was good but just felt short and rushed. It all happened within a 2 day period.

Good Short story of Ares being patched in, finding Brooke and their falling for each other. Looks like this is going to be a good MC series, my favorite genre. I have read everything by Karolyn James and her writing as London Casey is just as good.

WOW
5 stars this is my first Black Down Devil book and it won't be my last. I bought the whole series a year ago
but just never read it now I'm hooked .. I guess I have a lot of reading to do. Onto the next one.
