A new addition of the GraceTown series (8) The Possibility Wing, where this town is known for unexplained events that pop up.
New character in this book, Cora Summerbell, is not new to GraceTown but has not lived in the area for many years. Recently laid off from her job as a librarian she finds out about the opportunity to house sit for several months there in her old hometown. She decides to take that opportunity as she finds another library job.
She is able to get a part-time job at the local coffee shop which gives her the time to explore the Carnegie Library and strike up a friendship with librarian Adeline. During her time, she spends at the library, she finds the name and documents from a previous ancestor of Cora’s, Lenora Summerbell. With that discovery she also finds the Possibility Wing which mysteriously has a door that opens, but only at times.
The Possibility Wing, when allowed to open, provides Cora with older volume books that have Lenora’s name in it. Once she opens the book, Cora is mysteriously taken back and is allowed to see a time in her life that never took place but could of if she had not made certain decisions in her life. She sees herself as the married wife of Aaron and the wing eventually shows herself also as a mother to two children. Once she is back in reality, she feels the loss of Aaron and the children but truly does not understand the connection.
During this time of visiting the library, it comes from new friends that Cora has made, that an investor is looking to buy the land the library is on and turn it into a strip mall. It turns out from additional research at the library that the land had been owned by ancestor Lenora and the deed to the land was found. The deed stated that even though the land was given to the college if the land was not used for educational/literacy purposes it could not be sold but revert into the hands of a family heir which would have been Cora. Knowing how strongly Lenora must have felt about the land, Cora felt she had to fight for the land to be used as it should and not be sold by the College. She had visions of beautiful grounds and reading areas for all.
As you read further into the book there are questions to be answered. Is Cora going to be able to stay in GraceTown or due to job offers is she going to be forced to leave a town that she now feels she belongs? Is there an Aaron to be found in present life and why does Cora have such strong feelings about what she witnessed in the Possibility room with a life that could be? The situation with the family land that the college had and whether she could fight it so that Lenora’s visions for the land would continue through additional generations?
This book can be read as a stand-alone but please take my advice and go back and experience the other GraceTown stores. You will not regret it. I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it.
GraceTown is know for the unexpected and unbelievable, but when Cora Summerbell returns to a place she stayed for a short time as a kid to house sit and find herself after being laid off she doesn't expected anything big to happen. Cora works at the local coffee shop and spends her days wishing to be part of something more. She spent so much time in her youth moving she never put down roots or built real friendships. Coming back to GraceTown was not the plan, but Cora is hoping something good might come from her few months back in a town she has some fond childhood memories of. One day Cora see the Library near her place and is excited to go in and visit. The library is quit and almost seems lost to time. Cora finds a kindred spirit in the librarian Adeline. Cora even is able to work out another part time job at the library with Adeline. The only thing that seems even more strange that Adeline and how quit or still the library always is, is the Possibility Wing. The area is roped off and Adeline speaks as if the library picks when this area is open, not. One day while Cora is working she notices the rope down and the door unlocked. What she finds instead is something she can't imaginae is real. There are books with her name on them, but they are stories of her life if her mom hadn't move them so much, if she had stayed in GraceTown for school or even just came back for college. Cora finds each time the wing is open she not only reads about these paths not taken, but lives them. The one constant in these other lives is Aaron. Adeline explains that some people are tethered together through time and space and will meet no matter what other things happen. Cora finds herself trying to be more open and listening to people around her and taking chances on joining in. Even if she isn't staying in GraceTown she decides she can still be a part of it. With some planning and luck Cora meets Aaron, her Aaron. But with all of this Cora also realizes something more about the Library, it might just not be part of this time and space either. Cora's story is something many people can relate to, do you ever think of a time in your life you didn't go to the party or went to a different school the what ifs if you had? Cora's story shows us all that what is truly meant to be will be as long as you are open to the opportunities fate gives you. This like all of the other GraceTown books is a wonderful read with fun characters and s heartwarming love story with a little bit of magic and mystery. This can be read in order or as a stand alone. I hope on my next trip to GraceTown we catch a glimpse of Cora and Evan.
GraceTown is known for unexplained & magical happenings. This is the eighth installment of the GraceTown series and it is a story that weaves the past and the present into what could have been and the possibilities of a life only imagined, becoming reality. “The Possibility Wing” can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend the whole series as each story is unique and has a special message. I think if we could make a choice that could change our life forever, especially after having visions of the could have been, would we make that choice?
Cora Summerbell returned to GraceTown where she had been born and lived when she was a child. She was house-sitting while she looked for another librarian position. She was also working part time at the Cuppa Joe Coffee House. Cora was tired of moving and just wanted to belong somewhere. She happened to take a route home one evening that lead her past an old library. The Carnegie Library, where she had spent many hours as a girl. Adelaide Wren was the librarian who appears and disappears. She introduces Cora to a room known as the Possibility Wing. There she finds alternate lives that she may have lived. Adelaide becomes her mentor and shares her wisdom and advice with Cora. While working with Adelaide at the library, Cora discovers information about Lenora Summerbell. It looked like this was a distant relative who also was a librarian. Cora understands the legacy Lenora wanted to leave for future generations
As Cora gets a look at how her life could have been if she stayed in GraceTown, it put a longing in her heart for the man named Aaron and the family they could have had together. As Cora’s life plays out in the present, she sees her purpose. She knows she wants to stay in GraceTown as she builds connections and has an unexpected man, by the name of Evan, enter her life. Something familiar and possible but is that expecting too much?
I love the words “You can’t rewrite the past but you can show up for the present.” Cora shows up for the present to make a difference for future generations and she fights to honor the legacy that Lenora wanted to leave in GraceTown. Cindy Kirk is a favorite author of mine for small town romances filled with love, thought provoking emotions, whimsical happenings and HEA. She has provided us with a heart warming ending that stays with us long after the final chapter.
The Possibility Wing is the eighth in the GraceTown series but can be read as a stand alone story, however I suggest reading the previous stories for the pure entertainment and magicality of the series. Cora Summerbell lived in GraceTown when she was young but moved several times as her mother's jobs took her different places. Not feeling like she belongs in any one place, she has returned to GraceTown to housesit while she figures out her next move after losing her job as a librarian due to budget cuts. Always finding peace in a library, she steps inside the Carnegie Library where she meets Adelaide who works there and becomes a mentor to Cora. While volunteering to restack books and sort documents, Cora enters a wing that Adelaide calls The Possibility Wing where she sees different versions of what her life could have been if she had stayed in GraceTown or returned to go to college in GraceTown in which she married the same man. Based on the belief of the red string of fate, she believes she will find him again and when she meets an attorney from Collister College named Evan she knows its him. Now as she fights to save her ancestor's legacy, she must also convince Evan that they are destined to be together. This is a wonderfully written story filled with all the magic and emotions that Cindy Kirk knows how to create when weaving a story together through the mists of time.
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.
Thank you Cindy Kirk, for narrating another gem. If you are like me and love fictional stories of romance, magical realism and community spirit, then you will love this book. Cindy’s flair for writing has each character leaping off the page, you won’t want to put this book down.
This is #8 of 8 of the “Gracetown” series. It can be read as a standalone, or if you are like me and love to get completely immersed in each of the character’s lives, then I suggest you read them in sequence, what an amazing treat for you.
The primary character of this book is Cora Summerbell. Cora has just been laid off from her work as a librarian, a role that she loves. A serendipitous happening sees Cora house sitting in Gracetown, a place where she once lived with her mum as a young child. Cora plans to rest and reset, but Gracetown has other plans for her.
Cora feels a magnetic pull to the old Carnegie library, a place where she spent a lot of time as a child. There she meets Anabelle, another lover of books. Spending time at the library, Cora discovers the “Possibility Wing”. In this wing, mysterious books open to reveal alternate lives she might have led, and time bending love. Was this the life she was meant to live?
I cannot rate this book highly enough. Filled with life lessons and teachings about how our choices shape our future.
If you would love to escape from the stresses of life, then this is the book for you. I didn’t want this book to end.
The Possibility Wing by Cindy Kirk in the eighth book in the Gracetown series & my favourite of the series so far. Once I started this book I needed to keep reading as I wanted to know what happened next. The main character of The Possibility Wing is Cora Summerbell. She has returned to Gracetown to housesit after being made redundant from her previous job. When she was younger, she used to spend time in the Carnegie Library that is no longer there or is it? As Cora is a qualified librarian, she is hoping for to get a job at the library. Upon entering the library, Cora meets Adelaide Wren who introduces her to The Possibility Wing. Here she learns that her long-lost relative, Lenora Summerbell was an integral part of Gracetown’s Literacy, especially the library. Whilst visiting The Possibility Wing, Cora is shown different versions of her life had she stayed in Gracetown. What’s real & what’s not becomes blended causing Cora to go after the life that she really wants. There is a legal battle for the land that the Carnegie Library stands in causing Cora to take on the fight due to the family connection with Lenora. As the book continues, you become more & more engrossed in the story & like me, will want to know how the story ends. Be warned that this is one book that once you start, you won’t be able to put down.
We are back in GraceTown. Anything is possible. Cora Summerbell is house sitting. She used to live in GraceTown when she was a kid. Cora spent a lot of time in the library. This house sitting gig came right on time. Cora had just found out that she was being laid off when she found out about the opportunity. Cora is working at the local coffee shop and looking for a job at a library. While wandering around GraceTown, Cora finds a library that she spent a lot a time at when she was a kid. Carnegie Library stood majestic and drew Cora in to something that was familiar. Something that she understood and it understood her. Cora's childhood was spend moving and never really fitting in. The library became her sanctuary.
At the library, Cora met Adelaide Wren. Adelaide introduced Cora to the possibilities wing. There Cora found information from a long-lost relative, Lenora Summerbell. Lenora played a huge part in the town's literacy, specifically the Carnegie Library. The possibility wing showed Cora a life that could have been if she had stayed in GraceTown. A life that she desperately wanted. Outside of the library, there was a fight for the land that the library was on. When Cora found out that her family was more involved than anyone thought, she decided to take on the fight. Of course, Ms. Kirk had to give readers a love story. The possibility wing gave Cora an idea of what she wanted. Cora was ready to make possibilities a reality. GraceTown felt like home to Cora. Will she be able to stay? Cora found a life and purpose in GraceTown with the help of a library and possibilities.
When librarian Cora Summerbell returns to GraceTown, she expects only a quiet reset. Instead, she discovers a forgotten wing in the old Carnegie Library, shelves lined with mysterious books that reveal the alternate lives she might have lived. Each volume draws her deeper into a spellbinding blend of romance, and what-if possibilities. But the more she explores these other destinies, the more she begins to understand the truth buried in them. The life she’s meant to live is still waiting for her to claim it. This is a very interesting romance. Cora was a woman at a crossroads in her life, and she felt like she had no direction. That's what sets up the theme and the gist of this story. Every choice we make changes our lives, for the good or for the bad. We must be conscious enough to understand that and to choose wisely. I have said this before; Cindy Kirk is a clever author who has these lessons wrapped up in a gorgeous romance and a beautiful setting. Her writing draws you in and you can't let go until the end of the story. Thank you, Ms. Kirk, for granting me the honor of reading this wonderful romance. This review is my honest opinion.
A return to the magic of GraceTown where it seems anything is possible. There were a number of emotions that came through in the telling of Cora's story. Included was the small town community, friendship, good atmosphere, and romance.
At the beginning, Cora seemed so alone and separated from things going on around her, yet I could sense the longing she had to be part of life around her, wanting to be included and accepted but not really knowing how to go about it.
I knew what the Carnegie Library and Adelaide were from the moment Cora opened the door and crossed the threshold. Encountering the alternate life lived was often sad and painful to see Cora have to experience. Through the time spent in the library, Cora.not only discovered herself, but unexpected friendships, and also her second chance.
My one wish about this book would have been for the reader to get to experience more of Cora and Aaron's second chance. Rating: 4.5 Stars
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
GraceTown is its old magical self when it draws in librarian Cora Summerbell as she returns to GraceTown. She hopes for nothing more than a peaceful fresh start. What she finds instead is a hidden section of the old Carnegie Library filled with strange books that reveal the alternate paths her life could have taken. With every volume she opens, she is pulled deeper into a world of romance and possibilities of how her life would’ve turned out if she had never left GraceTown and that force her to confront the choices she’s made—and the ones she still has time to make.
Cora is standing at a pivotal moment in her life, unsure of where she belongs or which direction to take. That uncertainty becomes the heart of the story, reminding us that every decision carries weight and shapes who we become, for better or worse. The story blends emotional insight with an enchanting setting, making it difficult to put down once you begin. It’s a thoughtful and beautifully written romance that stays with you long after the final page.
Cora Summerbell has returned to GraceTown after losing her librarian job to house sit for 3 months. She happens upon the Carnegie Library one day as she is wandering around to familiarize herself with the town. She has a part time job at the coffee shop, Cuppa Joe, and volunteers to help the librarian, Adelaide. She shelves books and helps to organize paperwork that was stored in boxes. In one of the boxes she finds paperwork about one of her ancestors, Lenora Summerbell. Her curiosity is sparked so she looks for anything she can find on Lenora. One day she is exploring the library and finds a room that Adelaide calls the Possibilities Room. On one of the shelves are three books with her name on the spines. The first two books show her life if she had never left GraceTown or left and returned for college. In both versions, she is married to the love of her life and has two children. Will Cora find the answers to her questions and her future love?
GraceTown, Maryland, is a picturesque town where mystical events unfold, altering the lives of its residents. Cora Summerbell, a former librarian, finds herself at a crossroads after being laid off. Temporarily house-sitting and working part-time at a local coffee shop, she grapples with her future.
One day, Cora stumbles upon the local Carnegie Library and meets the enigmatic librarian, Adelaide. Intrigued, she volunteers there and discovers the Possibility Wing, a section of the library where books transport her to alternate lives she might have lived.
This captivating series delves into Cora’s journey of self-discovery and the transformative power of literature. I thoroughly enjoyed Cora’s story and highly recommend this captivating series. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.
Cora Summerbell has returned to GraceTown after her family moved from there when she was a child. Although a Librarian by trade she is currently working at a coffee shop and is house sitting. One day she comes across the Carnegie Library where she meets the librarian Adelaide who does not seem to be your typical librarian. As Cora goes back regularly to the library she is introduce to a room i that is call the possibility wing. This room begins showing her parts of her life in Gracetown if she never left when she was a child. Cora gets torn of the life she is living now which seems isolated and alone and a life she is shown in the possibility room where she has a family and sweet wonderful connection to her husband. Ms. Kirk does a great job interweaving the now reality and the extraordinary world settings. This storyline place an extra smile on my face me being a librarian.
As per the title, the story deals with the what if's of life for Cora. She is back in GraceTown house sitting and working part time at a coffee shop while trying to find another librarian job. One day as she is walking she comes across the Carnegie Library and steps in as it brings back memories of her childhood. There she meets Adelaide who slowly helps guide Cora to figuring out what path in life she really wants. This time is spent examining possibilities, finding new friends, and deciding what is most important to her in life. The GraceTown series has a magical theme running through it and this story continues it. I will admit that I felt the beginning was a bit slow and hard for me to get into the story. I just wasn't sure where it was all going. I am glad I stuck with it as it ends with a feeling of hope and community, which we need now more than ever.
Full Disclosure, I had an Advanced Readers Copy of this book. My opinion is not influenced by this.
This book was beautifully written. The words and the story flowed like a piece of ribbon. The descriptions were wonderful and easy to imagine being there. I really loved the way the words flowed with ease.
Cora is a great character. She is a smart girl that is willing to research, learn and stand up for what is right.
I was hesitant with this genre of books, but Ms. Kirk introduced them to me with her first story in Gracetown, The Pink House. She has made me a believer.
You will not go wrong picking up a copy of this book.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it for the author. The Possibility Wing is the 8th installment in Cindy Kirk’s Grace Town series. You can read it as a stand alone; however, I like to read a series in order. Cora Summerbell is a librarian & has recently returned to Grace Town. One day, she happens to come across an old library that she used to visit as a child. Upon entering the library, she meets Adelaide Wren who introduces her to The Possibility Wing. There, she can see different possibilities of her life had she not moved away. The possibilities help Cora decide what she really wants out of life.
In GraceTown, magic and the seemingly impossible finds a way to touch the lives of those who need it the most. For Cora, a librarian by trade, the town’s magic is found through a landmark library. In the process of finding herself, Cora also learns how she can help save the cultural heart of GraceTown. The Possibility Wing is the latest in the GraceTown series, and like its predecessors, continues to tell a heartfelt story of self-discovery and love. If you’re a returning reader, this latest novel also showcases some past favorite characters. The Possibility Wing is a feel good read you won’t want to put down.
The GraceTown series is always a delight to read, and this installment did not disappoint.
The Possibility Wing was an amazing story focused on learning who you are, exploring the what-ifs in life, and believing in the unbelievable. Cora is caught between jobs and locations, and by some twist of fate, ends up back in the community she lives in when she was little. She finds a connection to the community that is deeper than she expected and is able to find herself through that connection.
I highly recommend this book, as well as the whole series. This series is one where you need to put belief in the unexplained, but in the best possible way.
Cora Summerbell is in GraceTown house sitting and waiting for her future to begin. She comes across the Carnegie Library and is drawn to it. Cora sees a wing that is sometimes closed off, but when she gets the opportunity to enter it she sees different versions of what her life could have been. There also is an arc where she is trying to keep the land that an ancestor had donated to the local college that she gets more information in the Possibility Wing where she meets Evan, who in past lives is her one true love.
Great story. Interesting characters. If you are a fan of the play if/then this is a great book to read.
Cora has comforting memories of GraceTown when she was a child and found adventures in books. Hence she became a librarian and found joy in helping others find adventures in books.
When she is given an unexpected chance to housesit in the same town as an adult it becomes a unique adventure. She finds friends and a library that was once owned by a relative, Lenora Summerbell. The library is the place she found documents needed to save the lot where the library once stood. Along with a mentor that helped her find herself.
This was another delightful visit to Gracetown where this time we meet Cora Summerbell and the Carniege library. It is a gentle uplifting read, with the promises of what life could be like, as long as you keep your heart open and are ready for whatever might happen. Beautifully written, you are once again drawn into the unusual happenings in Gracetown. I read this in one sitting and I was left with a happy heart.
Thank you as ever Cindy for the ARC. I love everything that you write and I look forward to 2026!
I have enjoyed the entire GraceTown series, but this one was my favorite. GraceTown is a magical place full of friendship and well.... real magic. And this time, books are involved!
When Cora moves temporarily back to town, she stumbles upon the old library that nobody seems to use. And some books contain "possibilities" of how her life could have been different. I believe we all think about that at times, so it was a great premise.
I recommend this series to loves of romance, especially romance with a bit of magic :)
A beautifully written tale of Cora’s journey to explore a love she missed and find a love she didn’t know she could have. Through Cora’s story, I felt like I was reading a fairy tale to my Grandchildren. It was so full of magic, mystery and described so well that I felt the smells and scenery as if I was right there. Cora’s fierce dedication to saving the library land only made her character more lovable, which also led her to Evan (her one true love).
Cora returns to GraceTown to house sit and figure out her next move. As she works at the local coffee shop and submits job applications, she finds herself drawn to the town "library". As with GraceTown there is always something mystical afoot. Will Cora find her place, will she strive to right a possible upcoming wrong, and will she find her true love? Great story!
Cora had to venture a path unknown in order to reach the future she deserved. This story was so captivating that I finished it in one sitting. If you are in the mood for a magical and wholesome experience in the beloved GraceTown, this is a must read and my favorite in the series.
A delightful story that explores human connection through various what ifs. Though I did get nervous about 3/4 through because I thought Cora wasn’t going to get the ending I thought she deserved. Thankfully it did wrap up into a satisfying conclusion so I was able to sigh a sigh of relief. I really enjoyed this read and the ending was beautiful!
This is the 8th book in the Gracetown series, however, you don't need to have read the others first to enjoy this one. I was completely drawn into the magical writing by the author, Cindy Kirk. My mind was so busy imagining each and every aspect of this book. I was so mesmerized that I read it all in one sitting. Such an amazing story, probably one of my all time favorites!
Cindy Kirk is a wizard behind words and wise in the way of human interactions. She gives a smooth but suspenseful narrative. Does not need to write 4 people's stories to create cohesion. I love reading of one person from start to finish with magical twists that are believable and suck you in.
Life is full of possibilities! This book makes you think about all the choices you make in your life and what would happen if you might have made different ones. For booklovers, spending time in a library is a real treat too!
I love the GraceTown series even more with each new book. The supernatural element really hooks me in and while some details were predictable. The plot was very engaging and the ending very satistfying.
