BORN JUST outside of Gunnison, Colorado in a government research facility called Area 52.5, (truth be told, Mom, a government astrophysicist, was in her last trimester at Area 51 when she was abruptly transferred), Jax Spenser spent his early years wondering if Dad was the meek and mild-mannered man living at home or if he really existed in the distant twinkle of a far off alien’s gaze.
AFTER AN AWAKENING during his teen years (some would call it puberty packing a lead pipe), Jax spent the rest of his life filled with the absolute belief that not only was the truth out there but that his real father looked proudly down on him in hopes that his baby boy Jax would one day find his way back to whatever distant corner of the Universe Pops beamed in from. Until that day, Jax has dedicated his time to writing possible scenarios in which the two might one day meet again.
I read all five books in one day after reading the first one. It was really good being able to read a science fiction novel quickly and easily without it being too complex. I am so pleased that the ending lived up to the suspense the first 4 books created. I look forward to reading more of Jax Spenser's stories.
Great series. I know if it's a great read because I start reading faster and faster and then my eyes will jump down to the bottom of the page to see what's coming. Hopefully there will be a follow up series.
I'm at a disadvantage as this was the first book I read in the series. The premise was delightful and horrifying at the same time. Certain scenes that were worded in just the right way to help you imagine the most horrifying things. However I had a lot of difficulty getting passed the lost memories mixed in with the remembered memories, it seemed a bit convoluted and lost some of the horror that I think was intended. The ending was wonderfully apropos to the slippery skin of the world.
I'm an avid reader wand have no trouble following the plot of a book. I gave each l episode before this three stars but with this one the book is over and I'm at a loss. Some questions were answered but the ending makes no sense at all. It just leaves more questions. I don't like to read something and to be left with more questions and book understanding.
