Part 2 of the Batman adventure that began in DETECTIVE COMICS #31! In this issue, Batman uses a gun for the first time and kills a villain! This marks the first time a costumed hero uses a gun in comics. This issue also features the origin of Batman told for the very first time and features a cover with Batman having a gun holster as part of his costume! Not all backup stories advertised on the cover will be included.
William "Bill" Finger was an American comic strip and comic book writer best known as the uncredited co-creator, with Bob Kane, of the DC Comics character Batman, as well as the co-architect of the series' development. In later years, Kane acknowledged Finger as "a contributing force" in the character's creation. Comics historian Ron Goulart, in Comic Book Encyclopedia, refers to Batman as the "creation of artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger", and a DC Comics press release in 2007 about colleague Jerry Robinson states that in 1939, "Kane, along with writer Bill Finger, had just created Batman for [DC predecessor] National Comics".
Film and television credits include scripting The Green Slime (1969), Track of the Moon Beast (1976), and three episodes of 77 Sunset Strip.
Haha alright, what the hell did I just read. Batman is in Hungary, he’s following a bad guy named the Monk who is a psychic werewolf. But also a vampire? Seems like they are just werewolves but they also sleep in coffins and bite to infect. Almost as if the author didn’t know the difference between the two. Anyways, Batman fucking murders them in their sleep with a gun loaded with silver bullets. Bruce’s girlfriend Julie Madison, is left swooning for Batman.
Batman has a gun! The craziness of the first part of Batman's vampire story worked, but this second part just felt so disjointed. Plus the use of "vampire" and "werewolf" interchangeably was strange and made the mystery feel confusing and inelegant.
I didn't think it was possible, but they did it, they managed to make this even crazier than part 1, you have The Monk at one point turn into a wolf, and no one seems to know the difference between Werewolves and Vampires, this is pure schlock and I love it.
Not the best story (for now). Honestly, I didn't understand how a silver bullet can kill a vampire, if I don't get wrong, that it's the perfect way to shot a werewolf. Anyway, the story is nice and mysterious, but the end is just hasty.
The end to a strange tale where werewolves and vampires are interchangeably used? It was a bit confusing and also….shocking twist where Batman uses a gun.
