Ty Hughes handles the most dangerous protection assignments on the planet—it's what Citadel Solutions is built for. So babysitting some old biochemist for a few weeks?
Boring as hell, but no problem.
Until he meets Dr. Charlotte Gifford.
She's not the gray-haired researcher Tyler expected—she’s young, brilliant, and gets adorably flustered every time he looks at her. When her antiviral research is stolen by terrorists, someone wants her dead before she can create the antidote.
Charlotte has spent her whole life in labs, more comfortable with test tubes than people. She eats lunch alone, speaks in scientific formulas when nervous, and definitely doesn't know what to do with a bodyguard who makes her forget her own name.
Now they're on the run with assassins on their trail and a traitor somewhere in her inner circle. Charlotte can create an antidote to save thousands—if Tyler can keep her alive long enough.
She's a genius with test tubes, not running from terrorists. He's trained for warfare, not falling for the woman he's protecting.
But when every ally becomes suspect and death waits around each corner, breaking all the rules might be their only chance at survival.

Ty was hurt during the last mission and still in medical leave but he’s going crazy. He takes a side job for an FBI agent who is also an old military buddy. Things go completely crazy from the very start.
Charlotte is a computer genius. Her work has been stolen and up for the highest bidder.
“But just in case your china shop turns into one, this bull will be ready.”
Save the day and protect the girl!! This adventure is non stop action with danger around every corner. This new author has fast become one of my all time favorites. He has mastered the romantic suspense genre to a tee.
I really enjoyed getting Ty's story in DUTY COMPROMISED! We saw a more serious side to Ty compared to the previous books but he still had that charming and flirty personality. Charlotte was the exact opposite as a serious and very intellectual computer scientist but I liked the way they balanced each other out and supported each other. The romance was perfectly paced among the suspenseful moments and there were even a few twists I didn't see coming. Overall, I really enjoyed this one and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Now, we were whole—not because we’d fixed each other, but because we’d learned to be broken and whole at the same time, together.
Wow! This is a real page turner. I read this book in one sitting because I didn't want to leave the action.
Recovering from being shot on his last assignment, Ty is going stir crazy. As a favor to a friend in the FBI, he agrees to what should be a simple babysitting job for a computer scientist to have something to keep himself occupied while on medical leave. What should be a simple job turns deadly, when the scientist is targeted by unknown people wanting to weaponize her work.
Charlotte is a stereotypical scientist: she is brilliant, focused and driven, but pretty much a disaster in many aspects of her life. She routinely sports coffee stains on her clothing, forgets where she has left things and even forgets to eat at times when immersed in her work. Ty finds her both amusing and adorable.
When she realizes that a program she has developed has the potential to be used to kill millions of people, she immediately stops development of it and turns it over to the FBI to prevent its use. With intelligence compromised within the Bureau, Ty and his FBI contact are working independently to protect Charlotte and try to develop a countermeasure to neutralize the dangerous program.
The plot of the story is complex and well-formed, with a lot of action and mystery. The action and danger build throughout the story to a fast-moving climax with some unexpected twists. Woven into the story is the budding romance between Ty and Charlotte. While they are very different people, they complement each other well. Ty is protective and people-smart, adapting to conditions and events around him as needed. Charlotte, while a genius and brilliant at what she does, needs Ty to help her survive long enough to put her countermeasure in place. She sees all of Ty and realizes that he has a type of intelligence that has always been beyond her. Together, they are a force to be reckoned with.
Five stars for this fast-paced suspenseful romance.
This is an honest, voluntary review of an ARC of the story.
You can definitely see the male influence in the books Dominic writes they have absolutely wonderful action scenes in them You can almost hear the bullets smacking around you but at the same time he has the ability to write a complex romantic suspense story that draws you in and has you engaged and yes I will never look at any of my kindles phones etc in quite the same way
Ty is bored being ordered to the medical bench after the injury from the last mission. When his former military buddy (with FBI now) is asking him to babysit a scientist, he takes it on without letting his boss at Citadel know, justifying how hard can it be to babysit an old man. What a surprise to him when he realizes the scientist is Charlotte, a beautiful genius/child prodigy in her mid-twenties. She created a protocol that can be weaponized via any device with lithium ion batteries. The protocol has been stolen after she turned it over to FBI. Now it is being auctioned in the black market. Charlotte is the only one who can neutralize the protocol, but she needs time to create the solution. In the meantime, her work has been sabotaged, and she has a car crash that is no accident at all. Ty sees the hardworking and lonely young woman, not to mention her kindness. He understands what it is like to be different from people around you. After all, his siblings are all academia, while he struggled to pass high school before signing on with military. But he is good at providing protection. He stays one step ahead of the attack and keeps Charlotte functional and working on the solution. He finally has to fess up to his boss at Citadel when the attacker appear to be well-trained like himself and he needs help. As Ty and Charlotte fall for each other on the run, the stakes become higher. Ty is not fully recovered from his old injury and now is hurt more. Charlotte is mentally exhausted and physically wrecked. They can’t figure out who is sending the attackers and how they find Charlotte’s location. There is danger every step of the way. It takes a combination of Ty’s protector instinct and Charlotte’s quick wit to get out of the jam. The story is a page-turner. I can’t put it down. The humor and witty verbal bantering make me smile. Love the story. Can’t wait for the next one.
I really enjoyed this one! It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention the entire time! It is a smooth and easy one to engage and read. It flowed really well and had a good balance and timing for when things were happening. There are definitely times the book felt fast paced, which was to be expected, and it was well done as it never felt rushed more than what the action and situation within the story called for. I loved getting to know Ty and Charlotte better and watching them deal with their attraction and chemistry with each other that neither was really expecting. Charlotte's research has been stolen by terrorists and she can rebuild/recreate what they need in order to stop it/them but she needs time in order to do so and to be alive. A friend in the FBI asks Ty for some help with the situation and he agrees to be her bodyguard but it isn't an official Citadel mission at first as Ty is supposed to be resting. But as things and "accidents" continue to happen, it quickly becomes clear that this is more dangerous than initially expected, that there is a traitor in Charlotte's inner circle, and someone is out to stop/kill her before she recreates her research and program. I loved seeing this two as they dealt with the situation around them. Charlotte isn't exactly comfortable around people and so it throws her off with Ty around and Ty didn't expect Charlotte to get under his skin either. I enjoyed seeing their relationship evolve and become more throughout the story, it felt realistic and genuine. It is blended well with the action and intrigue of the story and I truly loved this and am excited for what's next in the series! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I love the suspense and intrigue of Dominic Pierce's Citadel Solutions series and Duty Compromised#3 is an excellent romantic suspense story. Ty Hughes, on mandatory medical leave is desperate to return to the action, takes on a supposedly easy side bar for an old army buddy watching over a geeky old scientist. Dr Charlotte Gifford may be a nerd but she is also young, brilliant and beautiful and completely at sea in social situations. Completely dedicated to her work, Charlotte doesn't have much of a life outside work, denied a normal childhood by her genius she has no real friends and treats nearly every interaction as a scientific equation to complete. She doesn't know how to cope with the sheer distraction Ty represents. After discovering her latest project could be be weaponised she passed it on to the FBI for safekeeping only for it to be stolen, now Charlotte is in a race against time to create a countermeasure before her creation is sold to the highest bidder and millions of lives are threatened. Suddenly Ty is no longer on a boring babysitting job but instead is desperately trying to keep the woman who is coming to mean more and more to him safe long enough for her to complete her work. Charlotte is wonderful, a genius geek, who completely loses her self in her work and an adorable klutz when flustered especially by Ty and his gentle teasing. The attraction grows on both sides as the special operator and genius scientist learn more about each other and feelings get stronger but time is running out. As the threat gets closer Ty calls on his Team for help but can they stop the threat in time? I was hooked and guessing right up to the end, it is a great story with a great ending, thank you, I highly recommend you read this story.
The count down has begun! A deadly operator and a computer scientist team up to save the world from a threat no one saw coming.
Ty, Charlotte and Citadel Solutions discover just how deep a web of carefully constructed lies and destruction go. Will they be able to stop it in time?
Ty and Charlotte have finally found a love so strong they are willing to risk it all. But can they stop the threat in time? "Thank you for writing this story
Duty Compromised Citadel Solutions Book 3 Dominic Pierce ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Citadel Solutions wasn’t just a security company—it was a family.”
Let’s keep going with this amazing series! Every single book has been a 5-star read for me. Hot military men, romance, suspense, action, and that found-family vibe...absolutely top FREAKING notch. I’ve said it before, but the action and suspense feel so real, and you can tell that comes from the author’s background as a combat Marine veteran and Department of Defense contractor. It makes everything more believable and intense...you just know this kind of stuff has happened.
And the romance? So good. So, satisfying. It just works. I loved Ty and Charlotte’s story, and the opposites-attract dynamic was incredibly fun to watch unfold. This series continues to deliver in every possible way.
Another fantastic book in the Citadel Solutions series, and this may be the best one yet. The action was fast-paced, the suspense was intense, and the romance was adorable. The story is told from the dual first-person perspectives of Ty and Charlotte. The action scenes are especially vivid and made me feel as though I was right in the middle of it.
Recovering from injuries received on his last mission (Duty Devoted), Ty is on forced medical leave and going stir crazy. When an FBI friend asks him to watch over a scientist for a couple of weeks, he jumps at the chance. Hanging out in a lab should be an easy way to keep busy. The job turns complicated when the scientist becomes the target of terrorists who want to weaponize her work.
Charlotte is the picture of the absent-minded scientist. She is brilliant, having earned two doctorates by the time she was twenty. She gets so immersed in her work that the world around her disappears. She is uncomfortable around people, slips into scientific speech when nervous, and avoids social situations like the plague.
I loved the first meeting between Charlotte and Ty. He mistakes her for a receptionist, and he so discombobulates her that she comes across as a total ditz. Ty expected an older researcher, not a beautiful young woman he finds intriguing and adorable. The attraction between them is evident from the beginning, but Charlotte is unsure how to handle it, and Ty struggles to maintain a professional demeanor.
When word comes that her stolen program is about to be auctioned off to the highest bidder, Charlotte has days to come up with a program that will neutralize the threat. Ty's job is to keep her safe while she does it. That isn't easy, as the other side is determined to keep her from succeeding, and their efforts become increasingly dangerous. While struggling to stay one step ahead of the terrorists, Ty realizes that someone on the inside is working against them. I was glued to the pages as they raced toward a stunning climax. The twists and turns kept me guessing until the end.
I loved watching Ty and Charlotte's relationship develop. They are so different that it seems impossible for them to work as a couple. Ty is protective, and his observational skills enable him to adapt to their constantly changing circumstances. Charlotte is brilliant at what she does, but needs Ty to keep her safe. I loved watching Ty see past Charlotte's outer scientist to the vulnerable woman inside. His methods of caring for her were sweet and demonstrated his understanding of her. He's a little freaked out by his growing feelings for her because of his insecurities about his education.
Meanwhile, Charlotte finally identifies the feelings Ty stirs in her. She has trouble believing that a man like him is interested in her awkward self. I loved how they saw the best in each other. Charlotte is in awe of Ty's people skills, which she has never possessed, while Ty is blown away by Charlotte's intelligence and resilience. Together they make an unbeatable team. I loved the ending, and the epilogue was fantastic. I loved seeing the changes that being together brought to both of them.
I enjoyed seeing more of the Citadel Solutions gang. There isn't much at the beginning, as Ty took the bodyguard job without telling his boss (Ethan) and the others about it. Eventually, he realizes that he needs help. I laughed out loud at what happened when he finally got the courage to call. I loved seeing everyone jump in to help, and how each person's specialty played a role in the final takedown. I enjoyed meeting Ty's brother, Donovan, and look forward to getting to know him better in future books.
This is the third installment of the Citadel Solutions Series and OMG I LOVE CHARLOTTE AND TY!!! Charlotte has always felt like the odd woman out in almost every situation. She’s a brilliant woman that has such a gift for technology and solving problems. All Charlotte has ever wanted was to help people and fix problems however being brilliant and around people is extremely difficult. I absolutely love how sweet, quirky, brilliant, funny and beautiful Charlotte is, even though she feels she doesn’t fit in anywhere except with her calculations. Ty is the youngest Citadel Solutions team member however he’s always there to backup his team even if he gets injured. Unfortunately his injury from helping Logan escape has put him out of commission for a while. However when an old military friend asks for help Ty figures why not it’s simple. Rarely are things truly simple especially in Ty’s world. However he wasn’t expecting Charlotte a truly beautiful woman who doesn’t see her beauty and her brilliant minds as true gifts. Charlotte absolutely NEVER EXPECTED Ty to be a man who would actually understand her and make her feel seen and comfortable with herself. Their first encounter is one that’s absolutely relatable to any woman who feels she’s kinda nerdy and not really seen, but then is noticed by an extremely attractive man who she feels is out of her league. However when Charlotte’s career could absolutely save millions of lives, she doesn’t quite understand how dangerous that is. When Ty goes inspecting Charlotte’s book collection he finds she is a woman who has exceptional taste in reading since she has books by Janie Crouch and Josie Jade on her book shelves! Ty has always felt out of place amongst his family because he chose the military route where everyone else has several degrees. Ty is the soldier who is happy to bust down a door and take out the threats. However it takes Charlotte to point out how brilliant Ty is in his own way. Can two people who feel like they aren’t enough or understood find something special? Will Charlotte be able to stop someone or several someone’s from hurting millions of people? What happens when Citadel Solutions and Ethan Cross Owner and Ty’s boss finds out he’s not still recovering from his injuries but actually in danger? This book is a non stop action packed, suspenseful story that I absolutely will read again and again! I was on the edge of my seat, couldn’t put it down because it is such a relatable story of two souls that see how truly beautiful and different they are. Dominic Pierce has created an amazing world that I absolutely love to fall into and can’t wait for more.
OK, so the Citadel Solutions books are definitely getting better as the series progresses - the action is great and the main FMC characterisation is getting better, especially compared to Mel and her sister in Book 1. There are also stronger - and more explicitly acknowledged - found family elements creeping in with the Citadel guys, which I'm really loving.
My only real issue is that
Anyway, aside from that, I really enjoyed the depiction of Charlotte, especially given how autistic-coded she is. I'm not sure if that's deliberate - neurodivergence is certainly never explicitly mentioned - but let's face it, when you have a genius character who's socially awkward, sees relationships in terms of maths equations, and gets so hyperfocused on her work that she forgets to eat for hours at a time and doesn't hear her name when someone calls it repeatedly...? It's not a huge jump to go from there to inferring autism. And I love that Ty respects her competence where she's strong and happily steps in to support her without judgement in the areas she struggles in.
Plus it was great seeing a more serious, competent side of Ty too - in previous books he's always been the jokester: the youngest member of the team, who needs to be repeatedly reminded to keep it professional. Here we get to see that he wouldn't BE on the Citadel team if he didn't have at least some level of professional competence, and it's great to see the skilled operator hiding under his laid-back, jokey exterior.
And we got a brief teaser for Book 4, which is sounding right up my alley, and features Ben and a female ATF (I think? I may be misremembering her agency) agent in undercover work, so I'm definitely looking forward to reading that one.
DUTY COMPROMISED is the third instalment in Dominic Pierces’ contemporary, adult CITADEL SOLUTIONS romantic suspense series. This is former US Army Ranger turned security specialist Ty Hughes, and computer scientist Dr. Charlotte Gifford’s story line. DUTY COMPROMISED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Charlotte and Ty) DUTY COMPROMISED focuses on the protection of proprietary information that if stolen, could mean a world wide disaster. Someone is stealing Dr. Charlotte Gifford’s research, and in doing so, selling online to the highest bidder but the same someone is possibly targeting our story line heroine, and in this, Ty Hughes has been assigned Charlotte’s guardian and protector, a favor called in from the FBI. As Charlotte struggles to find a solution, Ty and the team at Citadel Solution is battling time to uncover the who, how and why, only find themselves with a possible mole.
The world building focuses on time sensitive solutions in the face of a possible worldwide catastrophe. As Charlotte battles not only the clock but a possible sabotage from inside, Ty is determined to take down the people responsible.
The relationship between Ty and Charlotte begins as an assignment but Charlotte is uneasy in social situations, and Ty is hoping to free our heroine from her cloistered existence. On the run, in hopes of staying one step ahead, Ty begins a slow seduction, one that our heroine is happy to accept. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including several members of Ty’s Citadel Solutions team. We are introduced to Charlotte’s co-workers and fellow researchers, as well as FBI handler George Mercer.
DUTY COMPROMISED is a story of betrayal and vengeance, espionage and terrorism, family and friendships, relationships and love. The character driven premise is detailed, dramatic and edgy; the romance is seductive; the characters are desperate and dogged.
Ty is bored being ordered to the medical bench after the injury from the last mission. When his former military buddy (with FBI now) is asking him to babysit a scientist, he takes it on without letting his boss at Citadel know, justifying how hard can it be to babysit an old man. Love the story. Can’t wait for the next one.
Dominic Pierce adeptly constructs an exciting thriller with a complex plot that has non-stop action and will constantly keep readers on the edge-of-their seats. He also skillfully creates fascinating characters who are so unique, interesting that they will completely captivate the readers.
Dr. Charlotte Gifford is a child prodigy who began school early and was only sixteen when she started college. She is brilliant and an exceptionally conscientious over-achiever, but she has never been able to interact with anybody her own age. Thus, she is socially awkward and does not know how to interact with people.
On the other hand, Ty Hughes claims that he “barely scraped” through high school, so he joined the military. Now retired, he uses his skills as he works for Citadel Solutions. He has been on medical leave for a while and has gotten very bored. So without telling his boss, he decides to take an “easy” job protecting Charlotte.
However, Ty’s “easy” job turns out to be more than he expected. Charlotte is working on a highly classified coded program that is highly classified. But when she discovers that cybercriminal are reprogramming her program to kill people, she is very upset and makes plans to secretly move some place private to work on her program.
This has made Ty’s job more dangerous because they frantically decide they need to run for their lives. Thus, Ty realizes that, even though he has not completely recovered from his injuries, he has to use his military skills to keep them safe and alive.
Meanwhile, when Ty and Charlotte meet they immediately discover an instant attraction that seems to have bewitched them. They are unable to take their eyes off of each other, and they find it difficult to concentrate on her work.
In the end, the author amplifies the suspense, and builds up the excitement, as he constantly misleads us with false villains. Unfortunately, we will have to wait to find out the answer.
Duty Compromised by Dominic Pierce Citadel Solutions #3
~ Brilliant addition to an action-packed, compelling, and immersive series ~ Couldn’t put it down ~
What I liked: * Ty Hughes: ex-military, tactical specialist, lethal, strong, on medical leave from bullet wound, one of six siblings, bored, good friend, takes side job for FBI friend, attracted to Charlotte * Dr. Charlotte Gifford: genius, graduated with two PhD’s by 20 years of age, only child, lacks social awareness, typical, prefers math to people, attracted to Ty * The way Ty sees what Charlotte needs and is there for her ~ They are perfect for and with one another * The growth Charlotte makes through interacting with Ty * That both Ty and Charlotte have similar reasons for choosing the professions they did * Members of the Citadel team that showed up in this book: Ethan Cross, Jace Monroe, Ben Garrison and Jolly his K-9 partner ~ each has skills that support and enhance those of the others * Donovan Hughes: Ty’s brother, recently discharged, K-9 animal handler, is having nightmares related to last deployment, there for Ty * The meal with Ty’s family and how easily Charlotte fit in * The plot, pacing, setting, and writing * Being able to thoroughly dislike the bad guys, wish Karma would deal with them, and be happy with how they were handled * Knowing that Ben & Jolly will be headliners in book four
What I didn’t like: * Who and what I was meant not to like * Thinking about greed and how easily some are willing to sell their soul to the devil for money
Did I like this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review
Dominic Pierce is writing the best romantic suspense currently hands down! Duty Compromised is another winner in the Citadel Solutions series. Ty Hughes is the youngest member of the team and has been home recovering from an injury on his last job (book 2). He is bored out of his mind so when an old military friend contacts him with a easy job of keeping watch over a computer scientist, he jumps at it. Ty's problem is that he has an idea of what that computer scientist should look like and is surprised when he meets Dr. Charlotte Gifford in person. Charlotte is a literal genius. She has been looked at differently her whole life and has come to accept that she just doesn't fit in easily with regular society. Ty sees more in Charlotte than others do and the more he gets to know her, the more he wants to know about her. The problem? Charlotte and her team created a program that has gotten into the wrong hands and it's her job to create a stopgap. This would be difficult on a good day but strange things keep happening to Charlotte and Ty is starting to feel that she's being intentionally targeted. As the clock ticks down, the violence against Charlotte gets worse and Ty's more determined than ever to not only keep her safe, but help her succeed with creating her updated program. Duty Compromised is really a page turner. I was up late reading this one and I'm really looking forward to more books in this series because there are some great supporting characters. It was told from dual POV and there's action, twists, heat and more!
This was an absolutely AMAZING story with characters who will steal your heart! Dr. Charlotte Gifford is on a deadline to find a solution to the signal research device that she developed. After delivering it to the FBI, she realized that it could be used to cause any device with a lithium battery to explode. Even though he was still recovering from a gunshot wound, Ty Hughes was asked, by his friend in the FBI, to provide security at Charlotte’s company. She was a complete surprise to him, unaware of her beauty, brilliant, and uncomfortable with people and social situations. She speaks in “math” and has very few friends…he finds her fascinating! As he befriends her, they learn that the device that she developed will go up for sale on the dark web. She realizes that criminals could use the device to kill indiscriminately by blowing up cell phones…everyone would be at risk! Ty, along with his team at Citadel Solutions, plans to stop the sale as Charlotte continues to find a solution. She has never met someone like Ty and is not used to the way he makes her feel, loved and special. Will she correct the device in time as they investigate her co-workers. I LOVED Charlotte’s character, so “unique” from most female characters and Ty who realized though not college educated, his skills have been honed by years of service to his country. WOW!!! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
At this point, I think I’m just fully obsessed with this series. Once again, another book I devoured in under 12 hours. It was so fun and cute seeing Ty take the lead in this one. In books 1 and 2, we get the funny, maybe younger side of him, but here we see a Ty who is completely devoted to someone he never expected would become the reason he fights and protects…no matter the outcome.
And of course, he’s protected people before, but with Charlotte everything feels higher stakes. It’s not just her safety on the line, it’s also his heart.
Charlotte, on the other hand (lol, Charlotte), is one of the quirkiest characters I’ve ever read. Smart AF! Like, superfucking smart, but damn, my girl was so oblivious to so many things. And it’s honestly so heartwarming to watch her evolve into this confident woman by the end. A quiet little mouse who isn’t afraid to attack a lion.
At face value, Ty and Charlotte shouldn’t make sense at all. They’re completely different, but I think that’s what makes them so special. They’re so protective and supportive of each other that by the end of the book, it’s obvious they’re meant to be.
Action-wise, compared to the first two books, this one was a little lighter. It leaned more into a “who’s the bad guy?” kind of mystery. You literally couldn’t trust anyone. That’s where the stress and tension of this story really came into play.
I honestly hope we get another book because this series is so fucking damn good!!!
I'm loving this author and the wild ride he takes us on. Each book has been a true edge of your seats page turner. Just when you think you have something figured out, nope you're wrong. This is the 3rd book in the series, and new characters have been introduced to keep it going.
Ty Hughs is bored in his suburban Midwest Missouri town recovering from injuries sustained in the second book. (don't worry you're not missing anything huge if you didn't read it but go buy the whole series) While I don't live in that Missouri town, I know where it is, which made this book more fun, I know Springfield, the Jeff city (as we call it) and the STL suburb towns. On leave he picks up a "simple" asset protection detail from his friend George in the FBI. Yeah, that should be your first clue, nothing is ever simple, especially if the FBI is looking for a civilian contractor to help. Charlotte is a computer genius, but lacks social skills, that's what happens when you are in college while most kids are in high school. She's focused on her work, just not where she put her pen, or if she ate. Ty was drawn to her from the beginning. Meaning this protection took on a whole new level. Poor Charlotte, just didn't know how to interpret the data of Ty. She just knew that she couldn't let the technology she'd created get into the wrong hands. I'm looking forward to the next book
This book had me hooked from page one. What starts as a “simple” bodyguard job quickly turns into a high-stakes chase filled with danger, twists, and unexpected chemistry.
Ty, a tough but likeable security expert, thinks he’s signing up for an easy assignment watching over an older scientist. Instead, it turns out the older scientist is really Charlotte - a young genius who’s brilliant with computers but completely lost when it comes to people. Their personalities couldn’t be more different, but that’s what makes their partnership so fun to read.
When Charlotte’s research is stolen by terrorists and her life is suddenly in danger, Ty has to use every bit of his training to keep her alive. The action scenes are intense and fast-paced, but the story never loses sight of the growing connection between them. You’ll find yourself rooting for both their survival and their romance.
I loved how Dominic Pierce balanced suspense with humor and heart. The story moves quickly, the danger feels real, and the characters are easy to care about. Ty’s protective nature and Charlotte’s awkward charm make a surprisingly great duo.
If you like stories with action, intelligence, and a touch of romance - the kind that makes you stay up too late saying “just one more chapter” - this one’s for you.
Tyler, who is on medical leave after the last mission is asked by a friend from the FBI to take on a “babysitting” gig, an easy job. He’s going stir crazy after weeks on rest and takes the assignment without letting his boss, Ethan, at Citadel know. His first encounter with the genius doctor Charlotte, is embarrassing for both of them. Of course Charlotte notices the good looking man who has been assigned to protect her but she’s always been awkward with others. Even more so with Ty and when they find out that her “creation” is on the black market and could harm and kill thousands, even millions, she hunkers down to try and find a counter measure to stop the threat with Ty right by her side, protecting her. The easy job is not so easy anymore after multiple attempts on her life and Ty needs back up, he can’t do it alone and he will not jeopardize Charlotte, a woman who has become so much more to him. Another great addition to this series, humour, suspense, steam, surprises and great characters had me flipping the pages. I loved Ty, charming, smexy and a vulnerability that he hides from others but Charlotte sees him and he sees her. She’s not the geeky, awkward genius with no social skills to him…she is so much more. Story flowed beautifully and I can’t wait for the next one. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unputdownable—Action, Heart, and Chemistry That Sizzles!
Duty Compromised hooked me from the very first page and never let go. Dominic Pierce perfectly balances edge-of-your-seat suspense with genuine emotional depth. Ty Hughes is the kind of hero you can’t help but root for—tough, loyal, and just vulnerable enough to make your heart ache. And Dr. Charlotte Gifford? She’s an absolute delight: brilliant, awkward, and strong in ways she doesn’t even realize. Watching her transformation from quiet lab genius to fierce survivor was incredibly satisfying.
The chemistry between Ty and Charlotte sparks from the start, and it only builds as danger closes in. Their banter feels real, their connection feels earned, and their trust—tested by betrayal and bullets alike—is the emotional core of the story.
Pierce’s writing is cinematic—every chase, every close call plays out vividly. The pacing is flawless, blending high-stakes action with intimate, tender moments that make the story hit even harder. By the time I reached the final page, I was breathless and completely invested in both the mission and the romance.
If you love romantic suspense with strong characters, smart dialogue, and a perfect mix of danger and desire, Duty Compromised is a must-read. I can’t wait to see what Dominic Pierce writes next!
Ty Hughes is a member of Citadel Solutions. A company dedicated on protecting clients that find themselves in dangerous situations. In the last mission he was shot on his arm and forced to take a leave of absence while he recovers. When a friend from the FBI approaches him to protect a biochemist for a couple of weeks, Ty takes the side job thinking it will be a breeze and that there is no need to let his boss know. What can happen while protecting an old man? Imagine his surprise when he meets 26 year old Dr Charlotte Gifford. A beautiful awkward genius whose antiviral product has been stolen from the FBI and is being put in the black market. A dangerous situation, since it can be used to weaponize electronics and kill millions. Keeping Charlotte safe has become not only a priority for Ty but what started out as a professional protection has Ty developing feelings for this incredible woman. Will he be able to keep her safe from terrorists? Will Charlotte be able to to reverse what the terrorists have taken as a weapon? This was another edge of your seat story with a little romance and wonderful main characters. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I absolutely loved this book! Out of the three, this one is hands down my favorite. The stories just keep getting better, and I was so curious to see how Charlotte and Ty’s story would play out and wow, it totally lived up to my expectations!
Charlotte, a brilliant (and slightly awkward) scientist ends up in danger after uncovering something she really shouldn’t have. One of Ty’s friends asks him to step in as her bodyguard but of course, things get a lot more complicated (and a lot more interesting!) than either of them expected. A geek and a bodyguard? What a combo! Their chemistry was amazing, and I loved seeing how their connection grew as the tension and danger escalated! The action scenes were incredible — I could picture everything in my mind like a movie! The pacing, the suspense, and those perfectly timed emotional moments… everything just worked so well together!
I’ll admit, all the scientific talk was a bit of gibberish to me (just like it was to Ty!), so I didn’t really connect with that part but honestly, it didn’t take away from the story at all. It still had all the charm, excitement, and heart that I love about this series.
And now I need Ben and Lydia’s story! Can’t wait to see what Dominic Pierce does next!
This is another incredible adrenaline pumping suspense romance from Dominic Pierce. His writing and attention to detail in the action scenes as well as the romantic intimate ones is perfection.
Eli and Charlotte are an opposites attract romance where these characters find balance, understanding and acceptance in each other. I love how Eli is blown away by Charlotte's intelligence while being completely smitten with her unpretentious and innocent personality. He never underestimates her while finding her adorable at the same time. Charlotte is guarded with Eli because she keeps to herself because it is safest, but she is drawn to him. She appreciates him in a way that her walls come down. On paper they don't match. In reality Eli and Charlotte are equals that compliment each other is the very best of ways.
The drama of this book is intense and spellbinding. Every time I thought Eli and Charlotte aren't going to make it out of a compromising situation, they come up with a solution that I didn't see coming. It is a brilliant storyline.
I highly recommend this book, this series and this author.
Gripping Romantic Suspense This story hooked me from the first page and didn’t let go until the very last. Ty was supposed to take it easy after being injured on his last assignment. Guarding a scientist sounded simple enough—until the mission turned deadly. He never planned on falling for her, nor did he expect to be running for their lives from assassins. Charlotte might be awkward as heck, but she stole Ty’s heart from day one. At first, she wanted nothing more than for him to leave—he was a distraction she couldn’t afford. But when her invention is stolen and turned into a weapon, Ty becomes the only one standing between her and certain death. With terrorists closing in and a traitor hidden among her colleagues, Charlotte must find a way to fix the damage before time runs out. Fast-paced, suspenseful, and full of sizzling chemistry, this book has it all—a protective hero, a brilliant heroine, and nonstop tension that keeps the pages flying. If you love steamy romantic thrillers with both heart and danger, this one is a must-read. I can’t wait to see what this author writes next.
FMC: Dr. Charlotte Gifford MMC: Ty Hughes Spice: 🌶️🌶️ Pages: 314 Tropes: Military Romance, Bodyguard Romance, STEM FMC, Opposites Attract, Romantic Suspense Setting: St. Louis, MO
Thoughts: This was a book that was hard to put down. The action and suspense was perfect and the romance melded well with it. I always love a plot with a main character who is extremely smart paired with a character who is strong or athletic. This one did not disappoint. Charlotte was a genius, but I really liked seeing her flourish in her relationship with Ty. I really liked that even though she was always the smartest person in the room, she never thought that meant she was better than everyone else. I liked the way she encouraged Ty, who thought that since he wasn’t book smart, he was somehow less than his family. The dynamic of their relationship was so fun and perfect for this setting. I knew pretty early on who the villan was, but it was still fun to see how it would all come together. This was a great book and I can’t wait for more from this series and this author.
Wow!!! Dominic Pierce delivered a bomb-tastic story. This action-packed, page-turner kept this reader on the edge of her seat the entire adventure. Ty Hughes was on medical leave from Citadel Solutions. He accepted a boring job from an old Army buddy, now working for the FBI, to watch over a nerdy scientist. Dr. Charlotte Gifford may have been nerdy; however, she was also beautiful and brilliant. The story heated up quickly and maintained its pace until the very end. Charlotte had been in trouble ever since she created a project, which her company handed over to the FBI for safekeeping. Yeah, right. It was stolen and was going to be weaponized. While trying to write a countermeasure to neutralize the threat, her work was sabotaged, her home vandalized. She was in a car wreck and thought her newest work was stolen. The trouble continued, and Ty no longer had a boring assignment and called in reinforcements. The character growth of both Charlotte and Ty developed through working together. Their personal development was masterful. This story is not to be missed.
The cases continue at Citadel Solutions and this is one focuses on Ty and Charlotte. Ty is out on medical leave as he is healing from a bullet wound from the previous case and he is going stir crazy. When a former military and FBI buddy calls in a favor, Ty is willing to offer his services, what difference does it make where he sits and counts the ceiling tiles. Dr. Charlotte Gifford has created something amazing, its been turned over to the FBI as it can be used as a weapon but it has been stolen and up for sale to the highest bidder. Ty believes he is pulling a simple body guard job to an old guy in a white lab coat for a couple weeks until his shoulder is fully healed. Ethan, his boss is unaware of this moonlighting case until nothing is as it seems and everything hits the fan. I enjoyed this story, absolutely love the characters, the suspense and action of the case and of course the steamy bits as our main characters manage to find their person at the end of the day. I am counting down for the next one - Ben and Jolly. Enjoy!
Fabulous!!! Perhaps my favourite in the series.....really i love how it was well written we could feel Ty's frustration at being on medical leave and the interactions with Charlotte so funny and at the same time moving as he does see her and understand her like she does recognise his merits when he thinks he is stupid....
I really loved how well matched they are in a sense and the tension with the investigation and secrets...both are really loyal and are not happy about keeping secret...i guess i was only disappointed at how Ty did not trust Citadel to understand and tried not to tell his boss....with all what they lived together it was strange.
Now really this is a fantastic read, a real page turner with several twists ...i even doubted my intution and i was right on the vilain so really really well written
To recommend without hesitation could be read as stand alone but the series is not to be missed so better read in order and i can't wait to read more about Logan and also Ben ^^ each character is so interesting!
