A timely, patriotic full-color book presenting 100 American flag artifacts from one of the world's most eminent collectors, designer Kit Hinrichs. Selected images from LONG MAY SHE WAVE in an affordable, collectible edition. Election year and wartime keepsake, displaying nonpartisan national pride.
Kit Hinrichs is apparently a collector of flag memorabelia. These are 100 of his "flags" with short descriptions. Some are really cool some are esoteric. Some are just meh. I suspect that some that I thought were meh might be worth a lot if I only knew.
This was not 100 flags, but 100 pieces of a collection built around the concept of American flags.
I did learn two cool things. First, apparently the US was involved in a conflict in Korea in 1871--going to have to look that up. Second, when a new state is added, the start is not immediately added. It is added the fourth of July after the state is added.
Very nice photographs of vintage flag memorabilia. I coveted the collection of toy soldier flag bearers. And I learned something I never knew...those wavy lines that cancel a stamp are the stripes of what was originally a waving flag. Learn something new every day.
