Mistletoe and Mayday is the first book I have read by Karin Winter and it definitely will not be the last! It is a beautifully written story with characters that you will love, and maybe love to hate. You will smile, laugh, cry and be frustrated at times but you will be never by bored.
Bailey Monroe is a cargo pilot who is trying to get home for Christmas, she has missed the last couple of years and has promised her mother she will be there this year, the weather is closing in. Sebastian Lockhart is a billionaire CEO, who has flown to Alaska to surprise his girlfriend Rebecca, he has a well orchestrated proposal organised. Bailey and Sebastian have their first encounter in the baggage collection area where she was trying to wrangle his suitcase from holding up all the other cases, he was all about his designer suitcase and her damaging it, Sebastian eventually gets his case and heads off to the hotel where his girlfriend is staying, finalising all of his elaborate proposal plans, he squeezes the family heirloom ring in his pocket as he opens the door and finds her having sex with another man! He is furious, embarrassed, angry and just wants to get out of Alaska now, he heads back to the airport and finds that no matter how much money you have, when the weather is closing in and there are no more flights you have to take the only chance you get. His was a seat in a charter flight leaving shortly, when he got there, he couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the pilot was the annoying Bailey Monroe! Bailey saw the uptight CEO from earlier in the baggage area and called her boss, absolutely not, I’m not taking him he’s nothing but trouble!
The flight takes off to Bailey’s relief but the weather pattern is not great and neither is the conversation between Bailey and Sebastian, she tries to make small talk with him, her incessant chatter is driving him crazy, she sees a typical, rich, spoiled, uptight and bland rich man. With the bad weather closing in the flight is bumpy and then an engine problem arises Bailey has to crash land the plane!
What happens next is a wonderful twist in their relationship, Sebastian sees that Bailey is more than just someone who talks too much, and Bailey is seeing a different side to the uptight billionaire. Follow their journey to the cabin, their fight for survival with wolves, the changing of their relationship from adversaries to friends then lovers, will their relationship last beyond the cabin? Will Sebastian go back to his world and his “perfect” girlfriend that makes sense socially and business wise, how will Bailey move on and forget Sebastian? She must shut him out because she knows she won’t ever fit in his world, she will always be an embarrassment!
I couldn’t put Mistletoe and Mayday down I read it in one sitting and I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance.
